(1) Absolutely loved that interaction between Katze and Iason at the beginning, they certainly play off of each other really well. Probably comes from having known each other for so long, although even Iason seemed a little surprised at Katze's reaction to the coming meeting. I don't blame him though, Katze does seem rather laissez-faire about the fact that he may not come back from this. He's always seemed to understand more about his situation than most of the others and understand just how bad consequences could get.
Riki should be interesting since he obviously knows something is up, that intuition of his is just not going to let things go. As is obvious by the fact that he want to Raoul, isn't it strange what can bring two people together, seems Riki and Raoul can find common ground. And I couldn't help but like that in the middle of everything that's going on Raoul's reaction to Riki's attitude was one of exasperation where we all know that at one time he would have thought and reacted in a very different way.^^
As for Niiro beyond him being his normal obnoxious self and definitely shocking Raoul off his game, I think for now he's confirmed much of what we had expected. It's amazing that all of this came about from what seems like a whim on the part of these Elite. Not necessarily surprising considering I doubt they've really ever had to think too much about the consequences of their actions especially when it comes to what they think of as the unimportant people of the world. They're individual reactions to what they have done should be interesting and I wonder when considering who exactly this 'experiment' involved how that will colour how they look at things. (did that sentence even make sense, it's late you'll have to forgive me^^)
Anyhoo, I have been looking forward to the next part of your story, I'm just sorry it took me so long to get around to reading and reviewing. Life got rather busy this week, as it's wont to do and as I'm sure you understand^^ it's taken me about three different tries before I was actually able to get through the whole chapter and it was well worth the effort :) I hope you have a good weekend and it isn't too chaotic and I'm looking forward to this next part of your story ^_^

And so it begins... Fantastic start, picking up the story right where you left it. I have been looking forward to this sequel and cannot wait to see what you have in store, Lady EP! Thank god there are still gifted, brilliant authors like you and Ainzfern around who provide first class Ai no Kusabi fanfiction that respects and honors the original story, the characters and its author - AND who do so for FREE (unlike certain other people I could mention). You both are a TRUE credit to AnK.
If you don't find the time to update before Xmas: Merry Christmas to you and your family!

YAY! i had thought i would have to wait a very long time to see the first installment so i was thrilled to see the first chapter up! Although i loved the interaction between Katze and Iason i cant help but love even more Riki's appearance and the play by play with those he interacted with.
Thanks so much and i cant wait for more!

The ties that bind indeed....what exactly are they? Well lets start with the two in the car...
This is a different Katze from the one in the Not Happy Jan Chapter. This Katze feels he still has a hand to play in the game. A false premise perhaps, but at least he is thinking again.
Iason Mink, for all his physical perfection and super intelligence is a fraud. Do as I say, not as I do is his bylaw. He questions Katze on Raoul and yet when Katze has the chutzpah to throw a truth at him about his relationship with a Mongrel, his Excellency gets all uppity. For all his cool posturing, Jupiters' Chosen is an emotional mess. Since he cannot accept the fact that he does have feelings, his behaviour is erratic, violent, and at the best of times pensive. He has a conscience. Which is why this drive is not as Katze suspects a diversion to keep their destination hidden, but a useless stall because the last thing Iason wants to do is hand him over to Jupiter. ( He might live to serve, but it doesn’t mean he likes it. ) This is not a friendship, far from it, so perhaps we should call it loyalty. But it is something that ties them together. Iason feels guilt. And I say this because in BMR (that last chapter) Jupiter says to Iason
“ It will be painless, Iason. I will allow him that grace for the Creator’s sake.”
Why give this assurance at all, unless the machine (note the genderless word to describe the A1..and no I still disagree) senses the guilt in Iason over what he has to do. Forget his misgivings on how Raoul and Riki will act if the truth comes out. That moment was about his ‘feelings’ towards Katze and Jupiters request. Hence her intervention at that moment with her platitude as if this would make it all palatable and right.
And just as an aside, I loved how Admon made an appearance in this chapter….and you can’t tell me he didn’t…
The dealer felt a cold chill pass through him and he involuntarily shuddered before adjusting his jacket. How odd, just as it came it went quickly replaced by soothing warmth emboldening his confident stance.
That soothing warmth is Admon…..so even though he doesn’t realize it, Katze is not facing Jupiter alone.
Now I could wax on still about things that went on in this part alone, but lets get on to Riki…
Who though mongrel is more astute than his so called Master. How quickly he puts it together, his missing Com with Iason hovering over the jacket.
And, “you get what you paid for”….another true maxim. Riki acknowledges that he gets the finer things in life by being a ‘pet’. But, to be allowed that little bit of extra space, he has to also give up some fight, and submit more to Iason’s will.
However even in this he remains himself, constantly shoving it to the Blondie, knowing that those emotions are lying just below a fine surface. Is it any wonder then, he likes the idea that Iason has to show emotional restraint, if he wants to keep
a semblance of peace with his mongrel. He too has to know what battles to fight. And a pair of worn boots though irritating, is not worth the hassle of upsetting Riki. Oh yes, there is much tooing and throwing here on the little things by both of them. But it’s the big things that count in the end….
And lastly Nii Nii and Raoul….well Nii Nii is the consummate player. And if you get beyond the posturing and attitude, there is one truth here that can’t be over looked, no matter how Raoul wants to ignore it. The Elites in the scheme of thing may be the top of the pecking order, but they too only live to serve Jupiter. Personal freedoms are in fact limited to what Jupiter deems correct. And what better way to keep control than to make sure emotions don’t run rampart. The gloves are not a fashion statement, and relationships are banned for a reason. No one must come before the machine. No wonder there is hatred for the Mongrel who takes up so much of the Chosen One’s attention.
Well, my dear I’ll end my analysis here, although there is so much more I can go into ie Katze bringing Iason down to his level by using his name without a title, while giving Raoul his….but enough…
Great start, and I can see the 4 chapters has already increased to 7 (told you so) and only hope this tale doesn’t end on another Not Happy Jan chapter ::wink::
As always, looking forward to the next update.
