Razor Blade Angel

Razorblade Angel

Authors Notes: /…/ denotes thoughts. Started this story about 6 years ago when I was really into Weiss. Decided to pick it up again. I have Chapters 1-8 complete but I need to beta the other chapters before I put them up. This story takes place sometime after the first season ends and before Gluhen and/or assuming that Glhuen never took place. I have used creative license for a few things in story line so it might not be completely cohesive with actual events. Not enough to be AU though. Schwarz appears and targets Aya's little sister causing her to show up at the new flower shop the boys are using as a cover...madness insues! Aya's parentage is brought into play as it is discovered he has traces of demonic DNA. The warnings are for later chapters.

Chapter 1
He had never expected to see her again. After all, he only heard from her twice a year at most. An occasional letter and a phone call on Holidays were about all she could ever manage. Besides he didn’t want her here. Things were too dangerous and above all he still had to protect her. His little sister, his little angel, but what was she doing showing up at a time like this?
“Ran,” Aya-chan’s voice rang out happily as she bounded through the door of the shop and flung her arms around her big brother's neck.
Aya glanced at her a look of obvious confusion on his slender face. “Aya! What are you doing here?” He managed to choke out, cold eyes narrowing slightly. It wasn't that he was unhappy to see her just a little concerned.
“I came to visit you, silly!” Her voice percolated throughout the small floral shop that they had just recently moved into. The old shop had been burned down shortly after Aya-chan had taken over giving her brother the perfect oportunity to send her away to school.
By now the others were making there way into the front of the shop to see what all the commotion was about. It was six a.m. and the only people who even came alive that early were Aya and Ken. Ken walked in tying a white apron around his waist getting ready it seemed to make breakfast. He was of course all bright-eyed and bushy tailed wearing his typical blue jeans and tee emblazoned with a soccer logo across the chest. He smiled cheerfully, “Why good morning Aya-chan you’re just in time for some breakfast. How was your trip?” He shot Aya a confused look but it was quick enough to go unoticed by the girl.
“Wonderful,” She chirped and picked up a small bag at her feet. Conveniently, Omi managed to enter the room, hair still dripping from the shower. He quickly scooped up the bag from her arms.
“Oh, here let me get that for you,” he offered helpfully, “How nice of you to come and pay us a visit. It’s been such a long time…” Omi continued to babble as they walked down stairs and into the kitchen, leaving Aya still in his silk PJ’s staring blankly in their direction. Ken shrugged and followed after figuring that things would explain themselves in time.
Aya sighed and looked up at the sound of footsteps on the stairs that lead down from the upper portion of the building. Yohji stood half way down the steps looking rather dreamy dressed in his typical drawstring pants that hung low on his hips and an unbuttoned short-sleeved nightshirt of his chosen shade of green. Of course, Aya knew this was never what Yohji actually ended up in once he was in bed. The red head smiled inwardly to himself. Yohji's feet were bare and his hair slightly mussed all making the impact of how seductive he really was come to life.
“What was that all about,” He asked as he placed his morning cigarette between his lips and lit it. He continued to walk down the stairs towards Aya the lighter dangling between his fingers. Looking around slyly he placed a light kiss on Aya’s satin smooth mouth. Their relationship was, of course nothing but complicated.
Aya closed his eyes for a moment then spoke, “my sister…she just showed up. They’re all in the kitchen downstairs.” It was taking a while for all of this to sink in and he sounded more than a little moody about it.
Yohji looked at him thoughtfully for a moment, “Why such a pensive look? You should be happy to see your little sister. After all it’s been quite a while since you two have even spoken with each other right? Besides she won’t be any trouble at all.” He looked to Aya playfully, “We’ll just put her up in Ken’s room.”
Aya’s eyes widened, “Yohji!” He chased Yohji down into the kitchen suppressing the slight smile on his lips. It was just like Aya to be that over protective that he wouldn't let his younger sister stay in the same room another man had slept in.
A not all too unfamiliar sight greeted the two of them as they entered. Ken was busy as usual doing four or five tasks at once, making a typical Japanese breakfast, not to mention pouring everyone coffee and fresh squeezed juice. He was the perfect image of a housewife but not a soul would have told him such for fear of being gutted by a pair of razor sharp bugnucks. Ken did have his pride to look after regardless.
Omi hovered around Aya-chan asking continuously if she would like anything else. Aya’s eyes widened somewhat in surprise as Aya-chan gulped down her food as if she hadn’t eaten in days. /That is strange. She never had a very big appetite even when she was a growing kid. / He couldn't help thinking that something was up but didn't feel like broaching the subject in a room full of people, he'd wait till later and ask her in private athough he had his suspicions.
“Enjoying breakfast?” Aya asked with a bit of that oh so familiar deadpan tone to his voice. In all actuality he wasn’t being very friendly at all but Aya-Chan barely seemed to notice as she chatted away between mouthfuls.
Aya-Chan looked up somewhat sheepishly in response to his question, “Oh, yes very much big brother. Ken-kun here is such a wonderful cook. He makes the best food ever. Really Ken you could be a Chef!” She took a long drink from her orange juice.
Omi immediately piped in for her defense, “Don’t be so huffy, Aya-kun, she just got in on the train and probably hasn’t eaten since yesterday. Besides you know how gross train food is. Not to mention what the airlines probably tried to feed her!” Ken set another plate of food in front of her after she had finished the first round.
Aya simply shrugged and sat down across from her to read the mornings paper. Yohji’s eyes glanced over him quickly a peaceful smile on this face then went to pour himself a cup of coffee. The morning went on in relative peace and soon the after noon was upon them. Every one was busy in the shop and Aya-Chan was hanging about trying to be polite and help. Unfortunately, she only ended up getting in everyone’s way. First she broke a pot of flowers then when she tried to water the plants she hadn’t screwed the hose on right and one corner of the shop was covered in water from ceiling tiles to dirt covered floor. Yohji went to grab a mop and bucket calling back that everything would be fine.
Aya-Chan started appologizing profusely a feirce blush rising on her cheeks. Omi started to head in her direction to help with clean up so Aya chose not to bother. He had taken off the hideous green apron and put it on the rack where a row of brightly colored shop aprons were kept. Somehow he always managed to get left with the lime green one. He turned to go upstairs when Omi’s voice struck sharp in his ears.
“Hey Aya,” Omi called out before Aya could get out of sight, “Where we gonna put up Aya-Chan tonight? We could always put her in your room.” He waited for a response while Aya-Chan wandered off looking for a towel amongst a table full of roses.
Aya stopped for a moment then cringed ever so slightly. He had of late been sleeping in Yohji’s room. None of the others knew or at least he hopped. He always went to Yohji’s room late so no one would hear. /Never…Aya-Chan should never, ever know his true feelings about Yohji. Now couldn’t have been a worse time for her to show up. Things were so confusing. / “Um…sure Omi.” He continued on upstairs leaving the rest unaware of the pain and doubt he harbored inside.
“Yo Aya-Chan what’s up,” Ken bounded into the store wearing a pair of grass stained blue soccer shorts and a slightly rumpled jersey. He was carrying a soccer ball as well that looked rather battered from the day’s game. Obviously he had been out practicing with ‘his’ kids. "Hey what happened here?" He looked around seeing Omi and Yohji cleaning up the water mess on the floor.
"Haha...just a little spill." Omi smiled wiping down the wall with a rag. "Don't worry Aya-chan we'll take care of it!" It wasn't long before Omi and Yohji were carrying soppy towels over to the laundry room. Luckily the shop wasn't all that busy since the two of them were tied up and Aya had suddenly cut out early.
“Um…Ken-Kun,” Aya-Chan looked up at him and smiled somewhat sadly, “Can I talk to you about something?” Her voice was quiet as she brushed her hand over a delicate blushing pink rose bud. Fingertips lightly caressing the well shaped blossom.
“Sure,” Ken replied cocking his head to the side, “You look upset. Is there anything wrong?” The ball drooped in his hands.
Aya-Chan looked around the shop letting her eyes wander for a few moments over the beautiful flowers. She seemed to fit in perfectly amongst them. Her porecline white face and midnight black hair making her the rarest most precious flower of all. “Can we go somewhere a little more private?” Her small finely arched brows knitted in concern she wasn't quite ready to share her concerns with everyone just yet.
Ken’s eyes narrowed. In the few times Aya had talked about his sister she seemed the type to be nothing but cheer and smiles and whenever she had come to visit she'd always been happy. He couldn’t help but to wonder if something had happened while she was in Paris at school. Nodding he spoke,”Um…we could go downstairs to the living room?”
“Can we close the door too?” She looked around nervously biting into her lower lip making it swell and redden. Her face flushed slightly and she started to walk towards the door that led into the basement.
Glancing to the clock Ken noticed it was already after 5 o’clock. He didn’t think the others would mind too much if he closed just a little early since there was no one else in the shop at the moment anyway. Besides Omi and Yohji were still around to answer the phone if nescesary. “Hold on a second Aya-chan.” Quickly he trotted over to the window flipping the sign so it read, “Sorry we are closed. Please come again.” A small black kitten poking it’s head out of a red tulip gracing the sign. He then followed her lead down the sharply spiraled staircase.
Ken felt as though they could have a good private conversation down here. Omi and Yohji would be busy for a while cleaning and closing up the shop. Then of coarse Aya always disappeared in the evenings on some unknown personal journey, which of late Ken cared not to think about. Most likely he was in the large, two car garage training. They never really used that space for anything else except spare boxes and the such. So Ken relaxed a little, settling into the large overstuffed couch watching Aya-chan with concern.
“What’s on your mind Aya-chan? You seem to have something on your mind.” Ken spoke softly as was his nature when approaching those with troubles. He may have been hot headed but, if anything, you could count on Ken to listen too you.
Aya-chan looked around the room before finally setting her eyes on Ken’s lower lip. She just couldn’t force herself to look into his eyes. “I don’t know how to say this Ken but I’m here for more than just a short visit to see you guys.” Her face was already tinged pink with shame an embarrassment and her lower lip trembled violently. She didn't know really why she was so scared but a chill crept over her as she began thinking about what she was about to tell him.
Ken got up swiftly from his seat across from her seeing tears forming in her once bright eyes. Soothingly he placed an arm around her shoulders drawing her in close to his chest. “Shhhh…,” He whispered into her ear, “Don’t cry. Please tell me what’s wrong. It can't be all that bad can it?” Concern was evident upon his boyish features making him appear slightly older than he was.
Sniffling a little and gathering her courage she parted her lips to speak, “I came back because I found this in my apartment.” Pulling out a crumpled envelope she handed it to Ken their fingers barely touching. The tears started to fall freely now and began soaking into the thin material of Ken’s jersey.
“I…I didn’t know what else to do I was so afraid, afraid they’d come back. I thought after the tower collapsed that they were dead but... The place was just messed up, every thing was in shambles…the furniture…It…it…” She began to wail softly against Ken her whole body trembling now.
After she had woken up in the car with Manx and Sakura she thought her whole world was shattered. Sakura told her everything about how her brother was an assasin but worked hard to keep evil people from hurting others. She also told Aya-chan about Schwarz and how horrible they were, how they had stolen Aya when she was asleep to use her in some sort of weird cult ritual. Also they talked about the tall orange haired German who seemed to delight in tourturing Aya's brother, that his name was Schuldig and he'd even gone so far as to force Sakura to shoot Ran.
“Shhhhh…. It’s alright Aya-chan,” Ken cradled her in one arm while taking the heavily folded letter in the other and began to read. The writing was very delicately written and in an unmistakable hand.

My Dearest Lady,

You may be concerned with the state of your residence, but do not worry I'll be back to finish what I started. You may be wondering as to whom did such a horrible thing, fear not though for you shall soon find out. Would you like to know that my pretty, little pet? I am sure your dear brother would miss you terribly if something were to happen to you. Oh how that would make him suffer and you know how I love to see him suffer. It flows like a golden honey from him. Oh so delicious and sweet. Ah but I forget myself…this little letter was to you after all was it not? I would like to taste your fear too as well my darling. I will not have to wait much longer. I suppose I have said too much as it is so I will leave you now with a breathy sigh of fulfillment in your ear.

Regards,
Schuldig

Aya-chan trembled and cried softly against Ken’s warm body. Solemnly he folded the letter and tucked it safely in a pocket of his shorts. He knew what this meant and the others were not going to be happy about it. Tilting Aya-Chan’s face up to his he spoke softly, “Why didn’t you just tell all of us when you got here?” Those deep blue eyes shinning with worry. “We’ll protect you here but we have to do something. We’ve dealt with these people before.” Ken’s voice was tinged with protectiveness but his heart was hammering against his chest. /They're alive?!/
“But…but,” She sounded unsure and ashamed again. “But last time you guys almost didn’t make it. I didn’t want Ran to freak out and just go charging in with-out any plan. He’s so protective over me, I was afraid he’d get hurt. You…you know how he is sometimes. I…I trust him…but.”
/It was true. Ken knew exactly how Aya could fly off the handle. Especially with things concerning his sister. When she first moved to Paris to go to school and she didn’t write for almost three months Aya got so quiet and so much more withdrawn. You couldn’t even offer to do something for him with out him scowling at you. As time progressed though he did get better and Aya-chan’s contact did become less but more predictable. How could he blame him though? Aya-chan was everything to her brother and that's why he'd sent her so far away. The rest of the group always had each other and up until that moment Ken didn’t realize how much he depended on them. With Aya it was different though. It was as if he were detached from everything. Aya would never really be a part of “their” family. Even when he and Ken had…/ Ken quickly pushed those thoughts out of his mind and returned his attention back to Aya-Chan.
Aya-Chan had her face buried deeply into Ken’s chest. He smelled lightly of sweat and grass and she breathed him in with a sigh almost contentedly. The tears drying on her cherub like face. She felt safe and comforted here in Ken’s arms, not that she didn’t with her brother but he could be so spastic. He never seemed to have time to pay attention to her anymore like when she was younger. She knew that he loved her dearly but…there was something missing and Ken for now, was filling that loneliness she felt inside.
“We’ve got to do something about this Aya-chan,” Ken held her tighter feeling the midnight silkiness of her hair pressed against his cheek. She was so small pressed to his body and he had to be careful for he felt as if he could crush her.
“Can’t we just wait a little longer and figure something out with-out telling my brother right away? Please Ken!” She pleaded frantically her voice almost a squeak. "Maybe you and Omi and Yohji..." she trailed off not quite knowing how to finish the sentance. Surely they could do something though?
“Alright…I’ll do what I can.” He sighed heavily placing a hand up to his head.
Failing to have shut the door all the way a pair of black rimmed amethyst eyes stared silently at the two holding each other on the small, worn loveseat. A grim frown creased his forehead and the faintest light of jealousy shown in his eyes. None of the conversation had been heard but Aya quickly walked away before the two could notice his presence. /I knew it! That's why she's here!/
