Chapter 1

Today was the day. Today was the day that a 150 year warring feud was going to come to an end. Two clans were going to join together, bound by marriage between the two leaders. The Eiravada Clan of the mountains were the strongest and most prosperous tribe in the mountain range. Their neighbours, the Sedalon Clan of the woodlands were the most powerful tribe of hunters and warriors. These two clans, who had fought for years over hunting territory, were about to put all quarrels and ill thoughts behind them.

This joining of clans, however, would not have been if another clan, the Targustan Clan of the Lakeside, were not posing an immediate threat. The Targustan Clan had started off as a small band of misfit tribe members who had either left their clans or were exiled. And over the years, they had started to grow and grow more rapidly, bringing in other small neighbouring clans. The leader and chief, Homura, was in charge and responsible for the birthing of the tribe. He was proving to be a strong hunter, a courageous leader, and a dangerous warrior. The other clans, preferably the Eiravada and Sedalon, had become worried about a sudden hostile takeover or plan of attack.

The former chief of the Sedalon Clan had passed away a few days after the marriage arrangement was made due to a hunting accident. He had named his youngest son, Gojyo, the new chief. The boy’s mother was his favourite wife and it was in her dying wishes after the boy was born that he would be made chief. His eldest son from his first wife, Jien, was not angered or jealous of his half-brother’s claim to the title of ‘chief’. Jien was quite content leading the warriors into battle or organizing the hunt.

The retired chief of the Eiravada Clan had been ill for a long while and remained so. He was unable to lead the clan and handed the title over to his eldest son, Hakkai. Hakkai was his only child with his legitimate wife who had passed away some years ago. He had had a short meeting with a beautiful young woman from another neighbouring tribe and was blessed with his youngest son and Hakkai’s new little brother, Sanzo. Now, the two eldest sons, Gojyo and Hakkai, were going to be married to ensure the safety of their clans’ well being and territory. It was an agreement made by their fathers and was to be carried out.

Chief Gojyo of the Sedalon Clan rode his horse along the mountain path with his brother, Jien, their friend and advisor Kougaiji, as well as a few high ranking warriors. All were accompanying Gojyo to the Eiravada Clan village. Gojyo was dressed in ceremonial attire, consisting of the white stag hide cape passed down to all the chiefs since the beginning of the tribe. He wore a tiara made of various colored beads, a necklace of bear teeth, and a leather belt. The leather belt consisted of the tail from the very first animal he had killed, which had been a wolf. He also wore his father’s handmade hunting knife, and a small pouch that held the Oath stone. The Oath Stone was an amber necklace that was given to the wives of chieftains to symbolize their status and power. He had to craft it himself to give to Hakkai, as it was the tradition of the marriage.

“Gojyo, we’re at the land bridge” Gojyo stopped his horse at the beginning of the bridge. “This is it. Once you cross this land bridge, you’re on Eiravada territory, soon to be YOUR territory.” Said his brother. Gojyo looked at the other side of the land bridge, seeing the cut path that would lead to the village.

“This is NOT how I envisioned myself.” His brother laughed.

“You envision yourself as lying on a bed of furs with all our clan’s best looking women feeding you meat and wine.”

“Damn straight!” He smirked “But I’m not too worried. I figure I can still have all that. Just not with a nagging ‘wife’ looming over me.” Kou brought his horse up next to them.

“That is, if you become the dominant leader.” Gojyo scoffed.

“THAT won’t be hard! I’ve been undefeated in all matches in my own clan, this won’t be any different. I know I’ll have to fight my... ‘wife’, for the dominant role as Head Chief. And I also know that I will win, hands down.”

“Your new ‘wife’ is quite handy with a sword.” Kou pointed out. “I would be more aware and less cocky.”

“Stick it, Kou. I know I can win, so don’t give me your motivational rant. Now let’s get this over with. In a short time, the Great Gojyo will be a married man! And I always thought you would end up the married one, bro.” he looked at his brother with a smirk.

“You may still be right, brother.” He smiled.

In the Eiravada village, Hakkai sat at the table in his home, tapping his fingers on the wood. He too was dressed in his ceremonial attire, consisting of various rich and rare animal furs. It was often cold and windy in the mountains so such attire was needed. He wore a crown of various woven vines on his head and beaded jewellery. His brother, Sanzo, was also dressed in ceremonial gear, consisting of almost the same accessories, minus the crown. He was busy carving himself an apple.

“You look thrilled.” Sanzo said to his brother, not looking up from his activity. Hakkai sighed.

“Why should I be? I was suddenly tossed the title of ’chief’ in less than a week and are already being married off! I thought as a man I would be able to escape this whole ‘arranged marriage‘ shit!”

“Not when the two former chiefs decide to join forces and have no daughters. Any marriage between families would work. Even if it deals with two sons.”

“This is all easy for YOU to say. You get a free ride, not having to put up with old traditions like this. You just mooch off the fact that you are part of the chief’s family.” Sanzo smirked and ‘hmphed’ in response and took a bite of his apple. A young man came running into the flap.

“Hakkai! The chief of the Sedalon Clan is arriving!”

“Thank you, Goku.” he stood up. “Shall we all go out and meet him?”

“He looks like a cockroach!” Said Goku and Hakkai frowned.

“Surely you jest.”

Hakkai walked out with Goku and Sanzo, standing on the wooden porch of their large hut. Hakkai saw the small group of men come riding into the centre of the village and stopping in front of the house. Hakkai looked at the chief and gave a little amused smirk. Goku was half right about the cockroach remark. The two hairs sticking up from the man’s forehead did resemble antennas. Hakkai stepped off the porch to greet him.

“Welcome Chief Gojyo of the Sedalon Clan. I am Hakkai, Chief of the Eiravada Clan. I welcome you to your new home.” Gojyo got off his horse and stood in front of Hakkai. They were only an inch or so different in height, Gojyo having the extra inch. Gojyo was worried that this chief was going to ugly, but he was handsome. His eyes were a stunning green, his skin a soft white.

“Thank you, I look forward to making this a second home with you as my wife.”

His eyes suddenly caught Sanzo’s figure standing up on the porch. Gojyo’s eyes widened a bit as he drunk in the sight. Looking at the attire, this man was Hakkai’s brother, younger brother most likely. He had remembered hearing a rumour about Hakkai’s father having a child out of wedlock. He recognized the rare blonde hair, purple eyes, and tan skin. He had heard of a small, peaceful clan that lived by sandy shores where the water stretches for miles with no end in sight. Their land is quite far from ANY of the tribes. But all Gojyo could see was the man’s stunning beauty, even though his face wore an angry frown. Hakkai noticed his gaze and turned.

“Oh, allow me to introduce my brother, Sanzo.” Sanzo crossed his arms and looked away, setting to stuffing his pipe. “He’s not very friendly to new people and takes a while to warm up to anyone, so don’t mind his rudeness.”

“It’s fine.” Gojyo made himself turn back to Hakkai. “But we have a ceremony to attend.” Hakkai smiled softly and nodded.

“Yes….”

The ceremony was short, consisting of a few boring speeches about the joining of the clans benefits it will bring. Hakkai took the ceremonial speeches seriously while he noticed Gojyo starting to doze off, utterly bored. Hakkai had to keep nudging him with his elbow to keep him alert. They exchanged gifts next, Gojyo placing the amber necklace around Hakkai’s neck. Hakkai looked at it and forced a light hearted smile. He knew about the amber necklaces and knew that depending on how much work went in to creating it showed the husband’s affection to his wife. Gojyo’s necklace was small, with only medium sized amber in the middle and two tiny ones on the side.

Hakkai handed him a small figurine carved from one of the pine trees in the forest. He knew that Gojyo was famous for killing wolves and figured a wolf figurine would be appropriate. The tradition behind the figurine was that the husband would carry it with him while going into battle or heading out on a long hunt. It was suppose to ensure the safe homecoming of the husband. Gojyo accepted the gift and an elder from Hakkai’s clan put their hands together and wrapped them in a white cloth. Hakkai looked at Gojyo whose face was emotionless, except for the clear sign of boredom. This made Hakkai look down again at his hands and for a second he wondered what he had gotten himself into.

After the ceremony, everyone gathered around for a large feast and dancing. Gojyo was drinking all the wine and dining on fresh meat quite handsomely. His eyes kept skimming the crowds to look for Hakkai’s brother, Sanzo. He could not get the image of the man out of his head. He had never seen anyone with such unique and beautiful features before. He had wished it was Sanzo he had to marry instead of Hakkai. He looked two Hakkai who was next to him, eating politely and seemed to be lost in a world of his own. He had no doubt in his mind that Hakkai would make a good wife and strong chief. Hakkai had actually refused to fight for dominance in the relationship and Gojyo was now head of the clan. Gojyo could not think of a reason WHY Hakkai would not want to be the head chief, but he could already tell that his new wife was a deep thinker. He had known people like that; their minds were almost impossible to dissect and actions hard to predict.

The wind started to pick up and it was evident that a storm was building in the distance. It would still be some time before it hit the village so the festivities could continue. Hakkai was trying to enjoy the celebration but his mind kept focusing on his marriage to Gojyo. He already knew that Gojyo held no desire for him. It was clear that, like everyone else, Gojyo was attracted to Sanzo. Hakkai was never jealous of his brother or felt hatred to him because of his looks. Sanzo’s kind is very rare and live far from the rest of the world. Being the only blonde haired and violet eyed person in a world of dark hair and eyes was bound to make him look like a god. He once remembered his father saying that he was pretty, but not pretty like Sanzo. Those few words had always bothered him. But he still could not bring himself to blame Sanzo. Sanzo did not ask to be born with exotic looks to him. Sanzo did not pride himself in his looks, saying they only bring trouble. He had to develop alligator skin and a tough persona so people would take him seriously as a hunter.

“Hey, you okay?” Gojyo’s voice broke his thoughts and he turned to look at him.

“Hm? Oh, yes. Yes I’m fine. Just…thinking.”

“Oh, well stop thinking so deep then. This is a celebration! Have some fun!” he downed another cup of wine and hiccupped. Hakkai sighed and turned back to watch the dancing, but not focusing on it.

Hakkai had retired to his hut early, wanting to be alone before the ‘bedding’. His bed of furs was not going to be just his anymore; he’d have to share with his ‘husband’ now. He wanted to enjoy having it all to himself for at least awhile. The storm had come and everyone could be heard scattering and running, trying to get everything cleaned up. He could see the blue flashing from outside and heard the heavy rain. It was a very peaceful sound to him, the rain and thunder. The flap opened and Gojyo came barrelling through, his cloak over his head. He fastened the flap to the wall to keep the wind from blowing it.

“Damn, it’s dark in here!” He stumbled over to the bed of furs and nearly sat down on Hakkai.

“Watch it!” he could smell the wine on Gojyo. “Drunken cockroach!”

“Hey, I’m not a cockroach and I’m not THAT drunk, Hakkai.” A loud crash of lighting startled them both as it lit up the hut in some places. “It’s too dark in here, we need some light.” Gojyo stood up and wobbled a bit, heading over to the torch. Hakkai envisioned the hut catching on fire if Gojyo tried to light it, since his equilibrium was off. Hakkai gripped his tunic bottom and pulled him back onto the furs.

“No, no! Let’s keep it dark like this. We have the lighting.” Gojyo smirked and suddenly flopped on top of Hakkai, knocking him back on the furs.

“You like it with the lights out, huh?” Hakkai blushed from surprised embarrassment and said nothing. “You done this before?” Hakkai could hear his words beginning to slur slightly.

“N-no…”

“Ah, good. Don’t be scared….I'll be gentle.” He kissed his neck softly. Hakkai flushed and closed his eyes. The smell of the wine was making his nose wrinkle and if he had been in a different situation, he would not allowed this. But they needed to consummate the marriage and Hakkai rather have Gojyo drunk through the act. For one reason, it would make it easier for himself, knowing that Gojyo would forget half of it in the morning. Hakkai was fairly sure that Gojyo did NOT want to go through with this either if sober. It would be easier for him to be drunk through it. Gojyo snaked his hands up Hakkai’s sides, making him shiver. “See? That’s not so bad.”

“Your hands are cold” Hakkai said, feeling them travel upwards and brush over his nipples. He gave a surprised gasp and suddenly his legs were being pushed open by a pair of knees, Gojyo settling between them. Gojyo lifted the tunic over Hakkai’s head and tossed it across the floor. Hakkai could feel Gojyo’s arousal against his own and he let out a soft moan. Gojyo thrust himself against Hakkai and leaned up to kiss at his neck. He lifted Hakkai’s arms to wrap around his back. He kissed down Hakkai’s chest and back up again, nipping at his earlobe. Hakkai gasped and thrust himself up against Gojyo, his body possessed with a mind of its own.

“You’re liking it.” He stood up on his knees and undid his pants tie. “I have to do this now or I’ll fall asleep.”

“Fall aslee-!” Hakkai could not finish his word as Gojyo landed roughly on top of him again. “Bastard! Get off of me!” He hissed. Gojyo ignored him and suddenly flipped him over so Hakkai was on his stomach. “What are you-!”

“It’s easier this way. Just hold to the furs tight.” He gripped Hakkai’s slim hips and brought him back against his erection, poking at the entrance. Hakkai’s eyes widened and he let out a choked gasp as he felt Gojyo slowly push into him. “Damn you’re tight!”

“S-stop…!” Hakkai hissed, gripping the furs and letting out a short cry as Gojyo pushed forward in response.

“We have to do this, it’s our wedding night.” He stroked Hakkai’s lower back as he eased himself in more. Hakkai had to clench his eyes and bite his lip at the stretching pain of Gojyo’s erection. It felt too big to be in him and he tried to crawl away, but Gojyo’s grip held tight. “Almost there.” He hiccupped and pulled Hakkai back so he was filled to the hilt.

“AHH! THAT HURT!” He hollered and glared over his shoulder at Gojyo.

“I know for sure you’re a virgin.” He pulled out a bit and thrust back in, making Hakkai cry out.

“Take it out! I don’t want this!”

”Too late, I’m in now.” He pulled out a bit further and thrust in again. Hakkai clenched his eyes shut and tried to focus on something else as Gojyo’s thrusts started to pick up speed. His eyes widened again as Gojyo hit something inside him that made him gasp out in pleasure. “Found it.” He angled himself and thrust back in again, harder this time and nailed his sweet spot. Hakkai cried out again and got up on his forearms, wanting to feel more of what Gojyo was giving him. The pleasure he felt was numbing the pain and Hakkai found himself rocking back.

Gojyo pulled almost all the way out and slammed back in, making Hakkai arch his back in pleasure. Hakkai cried out in pleasure at each thrust but hissed when he felt Gojyo suddenly grip his hair. Gojyo pulled his hair as he thrust into him and Hakkai once again cried out in pain. The grip on his hair tightened and he was pulled up into a sitting position on Gojyo’s lap. Before he could protest, Gojyo thrust up into him again and hit that spot. Hakkai shivered and lulled his head back on Gojyo’s shoulder as he thrust upwards.

“See…” Gojyo panted “This isn’t bad!” Hakkai had nothing to say; concentrating on the pleasure he was feeling. It had felt better than before and he himself now had a full arousal. “Do you…like it?”

“Uh…! Y-yes…”

He did not know what to say and lost himself in the pleasurable movements of Gojyo’s body into his. Gojyo’s thrusts got very jerky and his grunts had risen as he came into Hakkai. Hakkai gasped at the strange feeling flooding his insides. He noticed Gojyo’s thrusting had stopped and they both went down, Gojyo crushing Hakkai’s body under him. Gojyo’s heavy snores echoed in his ears and Hakkai growled, slipping Gojyo out of him. He had to crawl out from underneath Gojyo’s weight to free himself. He panted as he sat back on the furs, looking down at the sleeping lump. Even though Hakkai had never slept with anyone, he knew enough about the act. He was so angry at Gojyo’s lack of curtsey for him that any pleasurable feelings he had left disappeared. Hakkai growled and rolled Gojyo off of the furs and onto the hard ground. The man still did not wake up and Hakkai had to turn his back to him or he might just throw him out into the storm. He buried himself under the furs and begged for sleep to come.
