Rain
CHAPTER 10-Rain
Take a photograph,
It\'ll be the last,
Not a dollar or a crowd could ever keep me here,
I don\'t have a past
I just have a chance,
Not a family or honest plea remains to say,
Rain rain go away,
Come again another day,
All the world is waiting for the sun.
Breaking Benjamin – “Rain”

\\This time when I came to, I couldn’t feel my arms. I looked around for Mae and found her propped up on the bed in the room. I then turned my attention back to myself. I was hooked on the wall again. I shuddered at the thought. I was also naked. I found my legs were dangling and bound. He wasn’t taking any chances with me this time.
“Ah, Awake are we? Good, now listen and listen well, this is your last chance to save your precious little girl. Fight me and I will kill her, run away and I will find you and kill her. I have bandaged her wound, she will be fine, if you follow my rules. But keep in mind that for every bit of defiance you show mw I will make her suffer for it, the bigger the defiance, the more pain she will receive. Now be a good girl and don’t scream, we wouldn’t want to wake her now would we?” I could see something in his eyes I had never seen before, madness. He had been pushed too far to the breaking point and now I just don’t think there was any way to bring him back. Even if I told him I loved him and would stay, it would only be a matter of time before he found another way to do something like this.
He drew the knife he held across my face, from my right cheek bone, lined up with the outer edge of my eye, straight across my nose to the same spot on the other side. I could feel the skin part as butter does for a hot knife and the blood well and slide down my face. My tears mingled with my wound and slipped down my face mixed with my blood.
“See, now that wasn’t so bad, now was it?” He brought the knife to his mouth and licked my blood from it. It took all of my will o not react. I focused on Mae and what it would take to keep her safe.
He brought the knife to my left shoulder, right at the base of my neck, I could feel the knife digging in ever so slightly before he dug a trail from my shoulder to my chest, meandering over my collar bone and going south between my breasts. I whimpered. It hurt so much. “Ah, what a beautiful sound, even the strong are weak.”
He next drew the Japanese character for wicked onto my left breast. My bottom lip was bleeding from the force it was taking for me not to scream. “And you know what I am going to do next? I am going to mark you as mine. Your very nice thigh is going to tell all whom see it hat you are mine, Amei.” I shut my eyes knowing there was nothing I could do.
“I don’t think so, asshole!” I knew that voice! My eyes flew open to see Aoshi and Officer Saito. Aoshi took on Sano and didn’t let up. Officer Saito approached me, before he could get too close, I sent him on another mission. “Please, help Mae, he stabbed her and I don’t know how she is doing, please.” I begged him with my eyes, the tears running down my face weren’t for my pain any more, they were a tool to get the golden eyed man to help my daughter. There was something like pride and admiration in his eyes as he asked, “Where was she stabbed?”
“Near her heart in front,” I replied quickly. I didn’t know how much time had lapsed and I was afraid she was dead. He grabbed his walkie talkie after examining her. “Get a paramedic team down her right now, I have a young child with a stab wound and a young woman in her twenties with deep cuts on her face and chest.”
He turned to me, “Now Miss Kamiya, she will be fine, who ever bandaged her up did it right and it looks as if the wound wasn’t deep. And it doesn’t appear like anything vital was hit. May I get you don now?” He smirked as he said that. My fear of men never did make an all out rushing return. I was thankful for that, because I wanted to kick Saito. And to think I had just made myself get used to my own male friends, interesting what circumstances will do to a person.
He got me own with minimal fuss and touching, which despite my recovery from my fear, I just don’t think I would have been able to handle much more man handling. I was still chained up on the wall when the paramedics came in. one whistled under his breath and I looked over to see why.
Aoshi had Sano hog tied and unconscious. Sano looked like shit, his face was distorted, bloody and swelling already. I could tell his right are was broken as was his nose. “Wow.” Was all I could say. He glanced up at me, wrapped in a sheet one of the medics had stripped from the bed for me. I watched as all the tension and anger drained from his face. What filled it next was pain and worry.
“Are you alright?” His hand raised to do something and I nodded. His hand fell on my hair. He pulled me to his chest and I broke then. I cried and cried. He just held me and made me feel safe in his arms as I bawled my eyes out. When I had settled down a bit I pulled away. “Aoshi, I owe you a serious apology, will you accept it and my love?”
“Are you sure? I mean this isn’t because of what has happened tonight is it? Because as much as I love you, I wont be a trauma rebound, I love you too much to do that to either of us.”
I smiled at him, “No worries, I had been thinking what a fool I am to have done as I have to you, and yet you still love me. I love you and have for a very long time. Now kiss me as you have wanted to for as long as I have wanted to kiss you!” I threw my arms around his neck, not caring about my covering as I pressed myself as close to the tall man before me. His lips were firm and warm as I kissed him lightly at first. He was letting me lead this time, aw how sweet, but not for much longer. My lips quirked up in a smirk as I opened my mouth to allow my tongue to trace his lips. He opened to me and possessively plundered my mouth as he swapped control.
I broke away so we could breathe. I could see the twinkle in his eyes. Before I could say anything though, Sano had managed to break his bonds and get a hold of a gun. “If I can’t have you then no one can, Amei!” He aimed for my head, right between my eyes. He pulled the trigger and before he could tell if he hit or not, he had been pumped full of rounds by every officer that had been around and allowed to carry a weapon.
As he lay dying I walked up I walked up to him, making sure my covering was secure. “I told you I would find a way to kill you, and this was all legal. To think I had once loved you. Now you will never again hurt me or mine.” I watched as the light in his eyes faded to nothing but a dull death glaze.
“Miss, please we need to check your wounds.” a female medic interrupted my death watch. I glanced up at her and found Mae was already being taken care off. I was about to tell to check away when a uniformed young man rushed in the room, “We got three more!”
I followed him faster then anyone else, Aoshi and Saito on my heels. We got to the room and I found Megumi and Hiko, they were lain out on the bed. She looked serene, and I knew she was dead. I turned away to the young man, the tears stinging my eyes for my friend. Hiko had helped me in many ways, I had hoped the two would get together, now there was no chance for their happiness and it was all my fault, again. “Where is the other one,” My voice was tight with the effort to not break down and bawl.
“This way, Miss,” He gestured to the next room and Aoshi placed a hand at the small of my back, a comforting motion as well as one that inspired movement. I followed the young man, officer Seta. He was about my height with short brown hair, but that really didn’t describe him, he was striking in a young kind of way. His blue eyes seemed to hold all the understanding of the world in them.
The next room held Misao, she was frantic. “What happened to him? Where is Sano? Is he alright?” Mia held the same madness in her eyes that Sanosuke had. I just wanted to cry for her. “Mia,” I grabbed her shoulders and forced her to look at me. “Sanosuke is dead. I watched it myself as he pulled a gun and tried to kill me, several officers pulled their weapons as well and…he was killed.”
“No, that is not right! He wouldn’t have died! He promised me, he wouldn’t die! YOU! You killed him didn’t you! It was all for you that he did this, he never would have done this for me! I loved him and he couldn’t see that! He just had to have you!” Misao attacked then. All open hands and nails but didn’t mean it didn’t hurt when she raked them across my wounds. It took Saito and Seta to get her back, and off of me.
“I am going back to Megumi, Misao. Did you know your sister is here? She is DEAD! I have seen her. She is gone…there are too many gone now. Meg, Hiko, Sano, too many have died for this.” the last line I said to myself, the tears cascade down n the memory of all the friends I had just lost. “Aoshi, please, I need you to get Mae for me please. Meet me outside of this room, after I have said goodbye to Meg and Hiko, I want the three of us to go home. Please.” He nodded. I could see the compassion well in his eyes, before he turned to do as I had asked.
Saito entered the room I was in, I just looked at him, I was too wiped to really care that a male had just entered the room I was in. I had lost too much today. I just nodded to him as I tried to get past. I wanted to see Meg one last time.
“Miss Kamiya, there is something I need you to see,”
“Ok,” I didn’t care what it was anymore. I was at a loss. Too much had happened.
I followed the tall dark man through a maze that I had once had to traverse to be free, but years later I wasn’t really free. How sad is that.
I followed him to a room, one I never want to see again. On the walls were the instruments that he had used on me in my memories, I shuddered at that. The room, it was filled with neatly labeled things. A pot, my pot, labeled: Kay’s Pot, she has strength packed away in her small frame. 07/25/98.
Another thing: Lock of Kay’s Hair, she is pregnant now, I won’t get to make her scream for me for a long time, 10/12/98.
A ring: Shishio and Yumi’s wedding bands: he had to suffer for what he did to my Amei, Kay. 10/24/04
There was a jacket, I read the tag as I didn’t recognize it. Shingo Kyle, his jacket, he dared to stalk my Amei. 4/05/96. This one was from long before he had ever had me under his control. It made me wonder just how many people he had killed, if the number of things in this room was any indication, I really just didn’t want to think of the number. One last item caught my attention. Megumi’s Reading Glasses. She was getting too close and I knew she wouldn’t understand what I had done for Amei. 11/03/04
“We now have the proof we need as to the murders of Shishio Makoto and Shishio Yumi. I am very sorry I had to show this too you. If he were alive he would be up on several charges of Murder in the First Degree, Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Rape, theft.”
“The scary thing is that he did it al for me. He was looking out for me. Kyle had a bad habit of following me around, touching me, of driving me crazy, I told Sano that I though he was stalking me. I was only 15. He really bothered me, but he didn’t deserve to die. I don’t want to see the rest, I don’t want to know whom all lost their lives because of me. it was enough to know that I caused it just by being born.”
Another uniformed officer came into the trophy room as I was thinking of it. “Sir, you need to see this. He is so lucky he is dead, because we can’t charge him with Premeditated Murder and other not so nice things. He has every detail planned out. Detective Shinomori, in particular, was lucky. The plans this madman had for him were quite gruesome. Most of her friends were in other plans as well. He didn’t get very far with Miss Meg, but he had some nasty things planned for her and even Miss Mia, his accomplice. Mr. Soujiro and Himura, and a Yahiko all had plans drawn up for them. There is even one for a Miss Tsubame. That one says if she doesn’t cooperate.”
“He was a monster and none of us knew it, except Meg. This is my fault, all of it.” My mind didn’t want to process what I had seen and heard, it ran through all the good time we all had together. There were a few hints but all of us remained oblivious to them. Whoa, what do you mean Detective Shinomori?”
“Detective Shinomori is one of our city’s most decorated Officers. He does primarily undercover work, Officer Saito is his partner, but he can’t act to save his life, they split the duties. The have one other partner, Detective Soujiro Hiko.” The female officer, Officer Tokio was a veritible font of information. It seems I have been surrounded by cops for a while now.
Saito was verbally beating his man, something about a civilian, yada yada. I want paying attention to him. “Excuse me, Officer Saito, I would like to get back to Meg and Hiko’s room.”
I turned away before he could say anything and fled the vicinity. I knew I would be haunted by what I had seen in there. I would never live down the fact that I was the cause of so much death and madness.
I entered Meg’s room, my eyes n the floor. I reached the bed where she was and sat next to her. “Wow, this has been one hell of a day, hasn’t it. I am sorry, Megumi. So Sorry, I hadn’t realized. Please forgive me for not seeing this, for not doing something before now. I love you. I am gong to miss you both! Goodbye, Megumi and Hiko!” I buried my face in her shirt and cried, I had lost my oldest friends. I felt a hand smooth my hair. I looked up to see Meg smiling at me. “Silly, hasn’t any one ever told you to check for a pulse before you assume they are dead?”
“Meg? MEG! Oh, my God, you are alive! Go see your sister, I told her you were dead, so she is going to need to see you, but know that she isn’t herself and I don’t know if she ever will be,” I warned Meg before she go off the bed to see her younger sister. I heard a sigh from Hiko, “Now she tells me she loves me. you know I had for a long time wanted to hear those words from you, but I think I have found some one who is soo much beeter for me.” Hiko had a wicked grin on his face. I hugged him before I turned ot leave the room. I left the room to find Aoshi smirking and Mae standing with him. “So how is my big girl?”
“I am as fit as a fiddle! Aoshi rescued me from all those people. But I did see all of our friends and family! Come on, let’s go see them!” I glanced up at Aoshi’s face, smiling at her antics.
“First I need to introduce you, Mae.”
“What do you mean, he knows who I am,” her head cocked to the right, a Sano habit.
“Aoshi, may I present my daughter, Kamiya Tsubame, also known as Mae. Mae, my I present to you, my boyfriend, Detective Shinomori Aoshi. Now that I bet you didn’t know,” I winked at both of them and in doing so I caught Aoshi’s look of surprise at using Detective. “Let’s go see the rest of them. Then you and I can talk, Detective Aoshi.”
“No.”
“What do you mean, no?” I questioned.
“Not until a medic has checked you out and you get some clothes on.” He smirked as he assessed what was wrapped in a bloodstained sheet.
I sighed, I had better battles to win and I knew I was going to get the information from him sooner or later. “Ok, but you have to find the clothes then, while I find a medic.
Less then twenty minutes later I was bandaged as much as possible and wearing my clothes. They were a little dirty but it could have been worse. I glanced at Aoshi and Tsubame, much worse.
I was trying to put all the things I had learned about two of my friends behind me. If I couldn’t do it, then what I had now wouldn’t stay with me. I had too much to look forward to despite all I had lost to dwell in the past.
Take a photograph,
