It's not Christmas yet
Chapter Ten
With Seras' gift, Integra was in lighter spirits. Her feet had ached for two days because of the last social function. Not so this time. Walter had argued time and again that the dainty slippers would LOOK better. Integra had reminded him that she wanted to FEEL good. The butler had sighed his defeat. At least she was going.
The night of the winter ball had Hellsing manor bustling. Walter liked to be prepared and he wanted this night to be perfect. Integra would always be an outcast from peers, but tonight he wanted her to shine. Shine as he knew she did, and wanted others to see it as well. To see the beautiful woman they had lost the priviledge to know.

In the center of London, Montgomery was making his own preparations. As gentry, he was of course invited to the gala and he meant to use it to it's fullest. He decided he quite liked being a vampire. It was power, true power, no human limitations. He could handle the drawbacks. Sunlight, he didn't miss it. Besides, how often did the sun shine on England…really?
He adjusted his cravat. "How do I look darling?" he asked flippantly to the woman on the floor. She had no answers, she was dead. Long dark hair spread like a blanket across the wooden floor. That he could deal with too. He'd wanted to kill Integra too, but now he considered how fun it would be if she were a mindless ghoul.
He could order her around. 'Integra, bring me a young woman for dinner. Integra go play in a patch of sunlight. Integra come over here and bend over so I can fuck you up the ass.' Yes, he filed all his cheerful thoughts away. He supposed he could simply lock her away. Use her as he wanted. He'd have to do something about Seras and Alucard.
Alucard would no doubt protect his little Hellsing bitch to the bitter end. And Montgomery planned it to be a very bitter indeed. Maybe he could incapacitate the monster and make him watch his beloved master suffer. Such a thing could break one, even as powerful as the pet of Hellsings. Tonight would prove quite interesting indeed.

Integra descended the steps at seven on the dot. Her pale hair swept up by Walter's adept hands. She'd teased him about it. The angel of death, turned hair dresser. He'd rapped her sharply atop the head with a brush. That hadn't happened since she was child.
She'd grumbled as she put the dress on, made sure she pulled the skirt high enough that Walter could watch her lace up the precious sneakers. He sniffed with disdain.
"I do hope that you aren't planning to run away from the bash." He commented.
She lifted a light brow, "You know, I just may."
She wouldn't of course, Alucard would make certain that she stayed, acted the proper lady. Damn him anyway. Since when did he care about protocol and propriety? She saw him lounging against the banister at the base of the stair. He grinned up at her, in that mocking way he did. She vaguely wondered if she kicked him, would Walter send her to her room?
"No such luck master." Her monster chuckled below her.
She scowled at him, "Could be worth a try." She quipped and brushed past him.
The faint scent of lilies and pears reached him. She wore perfume? That was a rarity. One he found he liked though. Made her more womanly, if such a thing were possible.
"Where is the car?" she asked.
Walter was draping her wrap around her shoulders, "Just a moment Sir." he told her. She nodded a he went to ring for it.
Seras waved brightly from the stairs, "You look just lovely Sir. Do try and have a good time."
Integra nodded, "Thank you Seras.
Alucard looked up at his minion, mentally he urged her to go away. Seras did just that but not before giving a cheeky finger. Integra tapped her sneakered foot impatiently.
"Master," Alucard said then, "I have something for you."
Integra peered at him in the dim corridor. "It's not Christmas yet." She reminded him.
The habit of exchanging gifts was common in the 'family'.
He smiled, "I know.".
His hand extended, that big hand. In it's palm lay a flat velvet box. She looked at it and then back at him. With careful hands she lifted the box and opened it. Nestled inside was a silver vine necklace, ending in a pale blue drop, so heavily faceted that even in this paltry light it glittered.
"It's lovely." She whispered, "Take this one from Anne Boleyn?" she teased.
He chuckled as he took it from it's bed. "Marie Antoinette." He told her, clasping it around her throat. It fell in beautiful lines against her flesh. The cool stones making her supress a shiver.
She touched it momentarily, "Thank you Alucard. You spoil me." He bowed low, "Only when you allow it."
