A man, too proud
Chapter Ten
Robin was wheeled into her Husbands room the next day by one of the ward nurses. She felt rested and better than she had in a long time, and she was looked forward to seeing what her husband’s condition would be like.
The first thing that the tawny haired girl saw was Amon was sitting up in bed, watching the television that was set high on an shelf that was hanging on the wall. He turned his head at the motion of people coming into the room and smiled when he saw his wife in the wheelchair.
His face had bandages on it, and bruise were very black on one side of his head. Through all of the injuries, his smile was broad as she was pushed near his bed..
“ Robin.”He said.
As Robin was wheeled close, she swiftly stood and stepped out of the wheelchair. With a gasp of relief, she threw her arms around the large man, kissing him with every fiber of her being. He threw his massive arms around the young woman’s thin yet growing frame, and hugged her tightly. Like statues, they stood there for the longest time, not wanting to break away from one another.
After the embrace pause, Robin sat back down in the wheelchair and had a long look at the man. He seemed to be in a great amount of pain, and was trying not showing it. She sighed at it, knowing he would probably not admit he was in great pain, even if she would ask him if he was.
“ Your looking good.” He said, looking at the girl. “ I was worried when I heard the doctor talking.”
Robin nodded and smiled. She did feel so much better.
“ I am.” She said, smiling at his concern for her yet In the back of her head, all of those questions were flooding for him to answer.
With a decision right then and there, she realized that she needed to know what had happened that would have put him in the hospital like this.
“ Are you alright though?” She asked cautiously, starting her questions slowly..
“ A little banged up, that’s all.” He said, the smile fading. Nothing to worry about.”
Robin saw his reaction rather than hearing his words. She could see him actually mentally pulling away from her as she questioned him. She waited for a moment, letting him have a moment to start explaining everything. His silence told her that he was not about to without being pushed into it.
“ Amon... what happened to you that night? “ She said, tired of waiting on the man to start.
“ I just had a lax in my concentration, that’s all.” He said, sounding rather short with her.
“ You got beaten up really good... and all you could say to me is ‘ you had a lax in concentration’?” She pressed, wanting to know just what had happened to him. “Come on... tell me.”
He glared at the girl, his eyes turning very dark in color, his pallor growing crimson as she stiffened his jaw.,
“ I screwed up.” He snapped at her loudly “ That is all I will say.”
Robin felt the sting of his words hitting her. Instead of letting it go, she felt herself getting extremely mad at her husband. She stared him down, as he glowered at her.
“ Why won’t you tell me?” She spat back, wanting him to answer her. “ I have always told you everything, you know.”
“ I don’t have to explain it to you.” He shot back, his face getting red.
“ Why are you not willing to tell me? I heard you were hurt, and I was worried about you.” She said, her own voice getting louder.
“ I will not... and that is it.” He came back with a snap of finality, his eyes nearly piercing right through her.
He jerked his head to face away from the young girl and he said nothing else back to the girl. Robin growled in frustration, wondering just why he was not telling her anything whatsoever. Her chest was tightening, as her anger increased with each second of his silence she had to endure.
Having enough of his attitude, Robin stood up from her wheeled chair and leaned into the bed a little, getting right into his face.
“ Amon!!” She said, her anger seething. “ You better start telling me what this is all about, and right now!!”
Two men suddenly appeared in the room without a sound. One was average height, dressed in a very pristine suit and tie. The other man was well over a head taller than the other man, yet he was dressed in the same way. They stood there, not saying anything, yet not leaving either. Robin through her anger, wondered just why these two were in her husband’s room.
Robin glared over at the man, her anger still stewing. She eyed them with a look of annoyance that usually was not her, and stood up with a defiant stance.
“ We need to talk with Mr. Syunji here.” Said the shorter man, his voice never breaking a monotone.
“ I am trying to talk with my husband.” She said, reigning in her anger somewhat. “ Could it not wait until later?”
The larger man came stepped over and physically moved Robin back in to the wheelchair without a word to her. He glared over at the surprised nurse that had accompanied the girl in, making the lady was cringing as she stood there.
“ Taker her out of here right now!” Said the man with a menacing tone.
The nurse turned and pushed the girl out of the room, despite Robin’s loud objections. The nurse just continued to get her out of there with great haste, as fear painted the care giver’s face.
Robin turned in her seat as she was being pushed, and saw the room’s door was already closed shut by the time the were only a few feet away.
“ I wonder who they were, and why did you move me when I did not want to go.” Said the girl, still fuming over her husbands silence, and now about the way she had been treated by those men.
“ Mrs. Syunji, I don’t think you want to know, and I was not going to leave you there either.” Said the nurse, as she wheeled the girl rather quickly back to her room.
Robin was going to jump out and storm back to that hospital room and just see just what was happening. She suddenly stopped herself from her thought, as a feeling of dread flowed over her. The young pregnant girl swallowed her anger and let herself cool a little. Something was not right, she thought to herself, and it would be prudent just to wait.
She did not know why she felt like that, but she just sat back and let herself be wheeled away. She planed that later she would find out what was going on, and why Amon was refusing to tell her anything. One way or another, she was going to get some answers.
