The Calm
Chapter 12: Lust or Love

Amaya stared out the pale window onto the streets below. She let loose a plume of smoke as the moonlight bathed her pale nude form. She then smirked as she felt warm hands come over her arms and wrap around her. Wraith smiled at her as he spun her to face him, pressing her back into the cold glass as he kissed her.

Amaya smiled as she loosely wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed back; her smile firmly in place as he pulled away, her bottom lip between his teeth. She didn’t need to speak, didn’t need to say a word, he just… understood. This wasn’t about love, only lust and understanding. He grinned ferally and took her cigarette into his mouth before taking a drag and tossing it out an open window and blowing the smoke into her mouth as he assaulted it again.

Amaya moaned out the smoke between their lips as he lifted her against the wall and slammed himself into her with a swift stroke. She cried out as she pulled away and let him ravage her body. His breath was heavy as they moved in unison against the window. His teeth grazing over her flesh as he nipped and kissed down her neck and collarbone.

“Oh, God!” she cried out as he hit her sweet spot.

“God isn’t who you should be calling for, Wolf,” he grunted as he hit her spot against.

“Fuck! Wraith! Harder!” she demanded as he pounded into her body.

Wraith smirked and kissed her senseless as he obeyed. Their grunts and moans growing louder as they both neared release. Soon, she had her head against the coolness of the glass as she screamed out his name, followed by a growl of her own name on his lips before they met again and fell to the floor.

Wraith traced lazy circles down her arms and over the plains of her stomach as he spooned from behind her on bed.bed. Amaya moaned in pleasure and turned to him, a satisfied smile on her face.

“Mornin’ luv,” he greeted softly.

“Morning,” she greeted back as she wrapped her arms around his waist and pressed her head against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heart.

“We have to go soon,” he said.

Amaya growled sleepily and snuggled closer. “Vicious?”

“Yeah, he wants you to actually come home for a night. You could use some fresher clothes,” he commented.

Amaya giggled. “Shut up. I never wear anything when I’m here.”

“I know, but hesn’esn’t.”

Amaya sighed and sat up. “You coming with me? One shower together would be faster than two.”

Wraith smirked. “Can’t fight that logic!” he said as he scooped he into his arms and carried her bridal style into the bathroom.

The air was thick with the humidity, a storm brewing above him as he ran. He had watched his friends die at their hands, he’d be damned if he would. He turned down an alley, blindly.

“Always, they always choose the alley,” a feminine voice stated, almost tiredly.

He gasped as he came face to face with one of the killers; her grey eyes watching coldly as he backed away. “Please! I swear! I won’t tell anyone! I didn’t even like the guy!” he pleaded.

“Sorry, mate, I guess you chose the wrong party to attend,” a accented, male voice stated.

The man spun around to see the other assassin leaning casually against the entrance to the alley. He was garbed in black, even the leather duster that seemed a little oversized on his lean frame was black. The black made his platinum blonde hair seem whiter and his skin, paler. He had a katana in hand, closing off the entrance and exit to the alley.

“Didn’t forget me, did you?” the woman asked in his ear.

The man spun around to see a flash of silver before his vision began to cloud and the simultaneous burning slashes from front a back registered before he fell into darkness.

“That was too bloody easy,” Wraith sighed as he watched the man’s blood seep onto the dark pavement and sheathed his sword.

“The better we get, the easier it gets. Anyways, he was no one,” Amaya stated as she sheathed her blade.

Wraith smirked and nodded as he lit a cigarette that he stole out of her pocket earlier. “That so?”

Amaya scowled at her partner. “That was mine!”

Wraith smirked around the cancer stick and let loose a line of smoke. “That so, luv? What are you gonna do about it?”

Amaya smiled maliciously. “Oh, I’ll think of something.”

‘I’m not in love.’ She heard the same words over and over in her head as she watched Wraith play with Aurora on the swings. Vicious had asked her in the nicest way that he could if she could take Aurora out. Something in his eyes had told her that it was.

‘I’m not in love.’

She sighed and laughed as Aurora evaded Wraith before tackling him to the ground. Aurora had him pinned and was now tickling the heck out of the blonde assassin. Wraith’s laughter made her smile as Aurora smiled triumphantly.

‘I’m not in love.’

Wraith turned his cerulean orbs towards her as Aurora climbed upon his back and let him carry her around the park; the child’s laugher bubbling through the air like the sweetest music. They shined with mirth as he locked his eyes with her stormy ones. She smiled truly to him and felt her heart clench as he returned it.

‘I’m not in love.’

Aurora ran to Amaya and climbed into her lap, using her arms to hide behind. “Amaya’s base!” she cried out.

“That so, kitten?” he asked.

Amaya laughed as she watched him make faces at the child in her lap, her child. He was so kind to her, like a big kid for Aurora tay way with, a big kid that also knew when the rules applied.

‘I’m not in love.’

“Amaya?” Aurora asked.

Amaya smiled to the child in her arms. “Yeah, honey?”

“Is Wraith your boyfriend?”

Amaya blushed ten shades of red. “No, sweetie, he’s just a friend.” Out of the corner of her eye she could swehe she saw Wraith’s face fall slightly.

‘I’m not in love.’

“Why not?” Aurora asked.

“Because, sweetie, we just aren’t,” Amaya answered.

Aurora sighed and curled into her arms. “Too bad, he’d make a good husband for you.”

Amaya stiffened as she looked to her bleach blonde companion. “You think so?”

“Yeah, a lot more than Jet Jet would. You and Mr. Jet are different. Wraith is just like you,” she yawned.

Amaya smiled softly to the child in her arms. “I see.”

‘I’m not in love.’

“She asleep?” Wraith asked as he took a seat next to her on the grass.

Amaya nodded, her hand gently combing through the pale blonde tresses of the child in her arms. “Yeah.”

“She’s yours, right?” he asked.

Amaya nodded.

“I see now. So, you really are the ghost of Rain Deacon.”

“Yeah,” Amaya sighed.

“I can see why you haven’t told her. It’s too complicated, not to mention that you could be killed at any time with the job you have.”

‘I am not in love.’ Amaya nodded. “I know.”

“She’s a cute kid. She’s lucky to have you around, even if she doesn’t know the truth. My mum died when I was kid, never knew me dad.”

Amaya sighed heavily. “I wish I never did know mine. He was a drunk and a bastard that died a coward.”

“Your mum?”

“She died a hero. When I was five.”

“I see. Me mum was a junkie, died a junkie. I never lived with them though, me parents. Me aunt on Venus raised me. Me parents were actually from somewhere around here. I remember that she was beautiful, with hair the color of blood and violet eyes. Really pretty. She eventually remarried after me father died. That’s when me auntie took me away. The guy was a real piece of work, apparently.”

Amaya stiffe “Re “Red hair… did she ever have any other kids?”

Wraith nodded. “Yeah, a girl, ‘eard that she vanished though. After ‘er father died.”

Amaya nodded. ‘Oh fuck! I never thought… Sith.’

“That’s the past, though. No need to relive that, right?”

Amaya smiled and nodded. “Definitely nothing good out of there,” she mumbled. ‘I am not falling in love.’

Wraimirkmirked and quickly kissed her on the cheek. “I got to go, I’ll see you at the bar, right?” he asked.

Amaya felt the blush burn on her cheeks. “Yeah. See you later,” she bid as he stood and strutted off to wherever he had to be.

‘Fuck it all, I’m in love.’
