-3-3-3-3-
In his dream, he could see Kazuhou. He was fighting, but with whom? The scene switched to Kazuhou’s opponent. A bright light enveloped its form, concealing its features. ‘Who are you?’ He could hear a soft voice asking him.
Two figures approached from behind Kazuhou, one of them releasing his own alter avatar to aid in the combat, fighting against the moving light outlined like a human’s body. ‘Who are you?’ The voice, he knew that voice. Why did it keep asking who he was?
Those two figures he saw approaching. He knew them. They were Kazuma and Ryuhou. What were they doing here? Couldn’t they see him standing there, watching, and not being able to move? Apparently not. There was a deafening, strangled scream from the whitened fiend. It fell, four ribbons, rigid like swords, stabbing through his shoulders and chest. Two red ribbons that seem to darken to that of crimson, and two violet ribbons that absorbed the blood like a sponge. It was startling to say the lease. The light around the figure started to fade. Once it vanished, there was a surprised gasp and then a dejected wail that followed it.
Ryuma stood there paralyzed in shock, staring at his own, disheveled body with the ribbons protruding through his back. He fell, and he kept falling as a black hole opened from the ground and swallowed him whole. The three figures vanished into the darkness, never to see or hear from them again.
The sound of dripping water resounded into the dark surrounding. He was hanging face down from a bundle of vines tied around his stomach, legs, and arms. He suddenly realized it was his tears making that sorrowful resonance. He could see his reflection in the black puddle below him, which wasn’t the form he was expecting. He wore some kind of mask with his green hair overhanging from behind his head like a lion’s mane. The vines tightened unbearably as they rose from his stomach to his face and caused the mask to shatter into pieces, which the pieces caused the water to splash into his eyes and sting unbearably like acid. His green hair fell in strands around his face and clung to his wet skin.
“Ryuma.” A serene, somewhat apathetic, voice called out from in front of him.
He looked up weakly, watching a tall figure walk slowly toward him on top of the water, the sound of wet clopping drumming into his head. At least it was better than the dripping sound his tears were creating. It was less annoying, and yet welcoming. As the figure came closer and closer, his appearance became familiar.
“Ryuma, what are you doing?” He smiled compassionately. “Are you just going to give up like this?”
Ryuma stared at the man with remorse. “I…I don’t have anything to fight for. I’m just…a weapon for HOLY’s immorality.” He dropped his head haphazardly, staring at his reflection once again. “Y-you’re that guy in my dreams. Kunihiko Kimishima.” He heard a soft smirk of application.
“That’s right. It’s somewhat weird that I’m here in your dreams instead of Kazuma’s. I guess fate has a funny way of doing things, huh?” Kimishima knelt in front of the teen and ran his fingers through the green strands. “Nonetheless, you can’t give up. You have to fight. You have to get out of here. Protect your family.”
“Family?” Ryuma looked up at the man weakly, leaning his head into the gentle touch. He felt so warn down, if not physically, than mentally. The day’s event was etching away in his mind and now a man he knew from his dreams was rambling about family. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The vines loosened around his form until they completely unraveled and released him, allowing him to sit on his knees and stare up into the other’s gaze.
Kimishima laughed as he pulled the teen into his arms and cradled him lovingly. “Your family, Ryuma. Kazuma and Ryuhou are your fathers and Kazuhou is your brother. You have to save them. However, it may end up with you dying in the end.”
Ryuma stiffened into the man’s arm to the explanation. “This whole time I’ve been with my…fathers and brother?” Tears burned his vision as he buried his head into the man’s chest. “Did they know?”
The man nodded once. “Yes, they knew.” His grip tightened around the young alter’s back as he pulled him away. “Do you accept your mission, Ryuma? Will you save them?”
Something clicked in the boy’s mind, telling him this was just a dream. It wasn’t real. Then why did this man’s arms radiate warmth when he held him. “…t-this isn’t real. You’re not real.” Ryuma started to move away when Kimishima held fast to his arms, holding him down and stared intently at his face.
“Believe what you will, but do believe that your family is in danger.” Kimishima’s eyes softened as he embraced the teen again. “Please, listen to me.” His voice was barely a whisper in Ryuma’s ears.
Ryuma gasped as he felt the man’s body lift up in his hands. He tightened his fingers around Kimishima’s coat and gasped when he noticed two, pure white angel wings spreading from the man’s back. “Please, don’t leave me again…please…” He begged helplessly as he watched Kimishima fly away.
Kimishima smiled warmly and disappeared into the dark void that quickly brightened as he opened his eyes, only to see white lights above him and a two way mirror in front of him. His vision darted from left to right to see if anyone occupied the room along with him. After he was satisfied that there was no one else in the room, he closed his eyes again, but not to dream. His body burned with an eccentric desire. He wanted to be free once again!

“How is he doing?” Kujou asked as she came up behind one of her scientists.
The man shook his head. “The boy is still unstable. It may take longer than expected for him to recover.” He peered through the glass at the teen that was still glowing profusely. The light just seemed to grow brighter with each waiting moment. “He…might die. His temperature keeps rising.”
Kujou growled as she slammed her fist into the panel. “No, he can’t die! He’ll survive this if I know him. He’s too stubborn.”
“Not unless he finally realizes that death is the one way to escape.”
The female alter user turned to face her subordinate and sneered. “What makes you say that, Kazuhou? Your brother would dare die on me, considering I’d absorb his body for my own power.”
The teen had his back toward her, so she didn’t notice the aggravated twitch in his lip. “You’re right. He wouldn’t allow you to absorb his body for your evil purposes.”
Kujou smiled, satisfied with Kazuhou’s response and turned her attention back to the man typing on his computer. “You had better do something to help him or else he’s going in battle either way you look at it.”
The elder fingers flinched against the keyboard. “But…he’d destroy all of the Lost Grounds if you sent him out like that.”
“Even better! I’d be rid of all the native alters and be reassured of Kazuma and Ryuhou’s defeat!” She laughed menacingly as she walked away out the door to her office.
The man turned his head slightly toward the teen, wondering if he was going to follow. “Are you going with her?”
Kazuhou shook his head. “I will later. I just want to think for a bit.”
“Yes, of course.” The scientist returned to his work, ignoring the fact that the teen had his left hand extended out in front of him with a small black chip sitting in the middle of his palm. Blood pooled around it and dripped from the sides of hand. He glared threateningly at the small fragment staring back up at him, seeming to mock him. He lifted his right arm to his nose and wiped the blood away. “So she had one in my brain to.” He clinched his hand tightly until the chip snapped and fell from his hand onto the floor. He quickly exited the room through another door that led into a hallway. “Wait until she finds out.”
