Chapter 12/14

Chapter 12

“What’s wrong with them?” Ryuuichi asked alarmed.
“Nothing, they want only be together. They’re not used of being apart.” One nurse says.
“Put them together in one cradle.” he demanded. “If they don’t like to be apart they’ll not be apart!”
“But they should learn to be apart.”
“I decide what my kids have to learn. Put. Them. Together.”
“But...”
He looked to her.
She turned pale, swallowed and obeyed immediately.
The other nurses turned pale, too.
“You are here to serve my kids. To take care that they get what they need and that they get what they want. You are not here to think. You are not here to try any education method. The education of them is not your job. Did you understand me?”
“Yes, Asami-san.” they replied obedient.
“Good, I would rather prefer nobody to replace. It’s so hard today to find a good nurse. And the water at Tokyo Bay is so cold at February.“
Silence.
Only the kids could be heard.
“We understand.”
“So, why are my kids still crying? They want to be together, also put them together.”
The kids were put together in one cradle, but they still screamed.
“Could they be hungry?”
“No, it can’t be.”
“It can’t be doesn’t mean it won’t be. Feed them.”
“Yes, Asami-san.”
It doesn’t helped.
“What did they have? They are together, not hungry, have clean diapers...”
The nurses were confused.
It didn’t help that Ryuuichi gazed at them.
He looked every second angrier.
“They said you are the best nurses I can get. So, why can’t you help them?” he shouted.
“We don’t know what’s wrong with them! They should sleep.”
You could hear the fear in their voices.
A scream.
“What have you done with them!”
Ryuuichi looked at the door.
Tao looked very angry at him.
“Nothing.”
“If you did nothing, tell me, why are they crying?”
Tao rushed into the room straight to the children.
He takes one child into his arms.
“Hey, little one, don’t be frighten any more, I’m here.”
The baby calmed down.
The second one was patted on his little arm.
“You too, calm down.”
He did.
The third, the fourth, the fifth and the sixth, they all calmed down as Tao took them into his arm, spoke to them, patted them.
A miracle.
But a heavenly silence.
‘Great!’ thought Ryuuichi, yawned, closed his eyes and felt asleep immediately.
