Chapter 15: Only in Dreams
Amaya sighed as she headed back down the stairs to the apartment, James in tow. They were going to make up some excuse to Vicious, and slip off for a little ‘exercise’ at James’ apartment. She couldn’t wipe the dopy smile off her face. They entered the living room through the fire escape, Aurora was leaning against the door, a devious little smile on her face.
“Aurora what-“
Aurora shushed the pair and motioned them to do the same.
“Oh?” Sith’s voice was clear yet gentle through the door.
“Yeah.” Vicious this time. “She told me to do something that I should have done before she returned.”
“And that would be?” Sith seemed slightly impatient.
“I… I… Marry me.” It sounded like an order, not a question, Amaya snickered and covered her mouth while James and Aurora listened intently.
Sith said nothing. How the hell was she supposed to respond to that? Marriage? To Vicious? That would be so final, so… binding. She’d have no escape from that.
Amaya waited with baited breath. What would she say? She then felt someone tug on her waist and before she knew it, she was slung Jam James’ shoulder and was being carried away.
“Are you nuts?! Right when it was getting good!” Amaya protested as she was flung onto her bed with a plop. She then watched as Aurora waved from over his other shoulder and was carried into her own room.
“Now, kitten, me an’ yer mum are going to stay in ‘er room. Need to see if she’s all better. You wait here an’ play with yer dollies. Whatever you do, stay out of Amaya’s room, alright?”
Aurora sighed, she was just as curious as Amaya. ‘Gets that from me,’ Amaya said mentally. “Okay, James. I’ll be a good girl,” Aurora resigned.
Amaya waited with a raised eyebrow as James returned and closed the door behind him, locking it. “What are you up to?” she asked.
James smiled, his tongue curling behind his teeth. “’Afe to do something to keep your curiosity occupied.”

Amaya stared out the darkened window. It was raining. She sighed and quietly left her sleeping, blonde companion and picked up her hidden guitar, she didn’t understand, but she needed to play it. Her hands twisted into their usual positions and her fingertips hovered over the taut strings for a moment before the song within came forth.
“You can\'t resist her.
She\'s in your bones.
She is your marrow
And your ride home.”

Spike grinned at Eve as they sparred, he was playing with her. Eve growled low, “Oh you are so getting it!”
Vicious laughed with mirth as he watched her pounce on the mossy haired teen and tackle him to the ground while biting his ear. “Children, you’re both such children.”
Eve laughed as she caught the seemingly cold man and knocked him too to the ground. A feral grin on her face. “Oh you aren’t escaping this!”
~*~*~*~
Amaya felt a soft smile caress her features as the song went on. She had been happy.
“You can\'t avoid her.
She\'s in the air... in the air
In between molecules of
Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide.
Only in dreams
We see what it means.
Reach out our hands.
Hold onto hers.
But when we wake
It\'s all been erased.
And so it seems
Only in dreams.”

Rain chuckled loudly as Jet attempted to put out his latest dinner fire. ‘Good thing I made a backup. Why do I even try withy him?’ she asked herself. “Um, Jet, you’re shirts on fire,” she pointed out.
Jet made a strange face and danced about, trying to put out the fire that had traveled onto his shirtamn amn it!”
“Maybe we’ll all be safer if you just cook, Rain,” Spike suggested
Rain laughed and nodded. “Yeah, I think I agree.”
~*~*~*~
“You walk up to her.
Ask her to dance.
She says, \"Hey, baby, I just might take the chance.\"
You say, \"It\'s a good thing
That you float in the air... in the air.
That way there\'s no way I will crush your pretty toenails into a thousand pieces.\"
Only in dreams
We see what it means.
Reach out our hands.
Hold onto hers.
But when we wake
It\'s all been erased.
And so it seems
Only in dreams.”

Marissa giggled as her mother wrestled her to the ground, her fingers dancing over her sides as she tickled the small girl. Her grey eyes dancing as she watched Marissa change positions and proceed to return the gesture.
“Oh no! I’ve been bested!” Momma laughed.
Marissa’s eyes twinkled with triumph. “Bested by the bestest!”
~*~*~*~
“Only in dreams.
Only in dreams.
Only in dreams.”

Mao shook his head and laughed as he watched his three students tumble into a pile together, their balance exercise, a totally failure.
“Mao! Spike didn’t carry his own weight!” Marissa complained.
“I would have if you weren’t so damn heavy!” Spike grumbled from beneath the thirteen year old girl.
“It had nothing to do with the fact that you tried to grab that magazine out of your back pocket right?” Vicious grunted as he stood, taking Marissa up with him.
Spike pouted. “Nope!”
Marissa slapped the gangly looking boy in the back of the head, sending him sprawling into the grass. “Idiot!”
~*~*~*~
“Only in dreams.
Only in dreams.
Only in dreams.”
Amaya sighed after she allowed a few moments of silence follow her final cord. Such memories came when she played that song, mostly happy ones. ‘What was it that Spike said once. That he was just walking in a dream he couldn’t wake from?’
“It’s a lovely song,” James’ voice broke the silence.
Amaya looked over to her goggily staring lover and smiled smugly. “You look exhausted.”
“I could go for another round or five.”
Amaya laughed and shook her head. “Don’t be such a cocky bastard.”
James smiled lewdly. “I can’t help what I am, luv.”
Amaya set her instrument aside and stalked over to her blonde haired compainion and smiled ferally as she slid over him. “Care to prove it?” she teased before pressing her lips to his passionately.

Levii: Sigh, yes, I am a strange one... and so much with the songfics, I know. It\'s just... my life is ruled by two things, images and music. Things seem to work if you can see it and hear something in the background. It\'s partially why I gave Amaya the ability to play music. She has to have something untouched by the blood in her life. So, I gave her music. So damn you if you think I\'m going overboard with the songfics! *Pout* But please review anyways... I love reviews! And cookies!
