Legalities & Warnings

I still own nothing but the plot an my own created characters. Here it is, the second to last big battle in this arc. Yes, this story will continue after this arc.

***

The desert wind kicks up sand and carries it off. The relentless sun beats down on the dried ground without mercy. The cactuses stand at attention like silent sentinels watching over the barren terrain. No creature could even begin to comprehend what was about to take place. The silence was broken by the sound of a teleportation spell finishing its task. Three people are deposited onto the sandy wasteland.
"Damn it Sian, why the hell did you have to pick a desert!?" Akurax complains. "I know that I can take the sun and the heat, but all this sand is just too much!"
"Stop complaining Akurax. I wanted a place that would give us the advantage." Sian explains.
"I like it. It reminds me of Siberia if it were to go into a major climate change." Sigma smirks. "Where are those fools anyway?"
"They probably didn't have the guts to show up." Akurax comments letting his fangs show in a grin.
"Knowing my brother like I do he probably made sure that he had every single ally he could get ahold of for this battle." Sian states and as on cue the group of heroes appear in a flash of blue light.
"Well, you certainly pick a most interesting battle field, Sian." Eli says smiling.
"I made sure that the fight would take place where there was no water for you to dunk me in and freeze me." Sian states calmly. "Do you like my choice?"
"Only you would want to fight in 115 degree weather, brother." Eli retorts.
"What the hell are we waiting for?" Meilin asks but before anyone can answer a flash of black lightning strikes the ground. Before Josh could try to figure out how the lightning had appeared in the first place a figure in a black cloak stands where the lightning had struck the ground.
"I'm guessing that that's what we were waiting for." Wulf says answering Meilin's question.
"Hm, I didn't know the higher powers had a flare for dramatic entrances." Keroberos comments.
"This entire desert will be your battle ground. Now, let combat begin!" the figure in black states and a gong booms across the desert signaling for the fight to begin. The figure seems to materialize a black disk under his boots and he rises above the ground.
Sian brings out a card and lets it loose, "Demon card, attack the young mages and those old, decrepit guardians!" and with that the card comes out and immediately charges the two.
'Ready Lee?' Sakura sends.
'Ready," Lee sends back.

"/So Karthing, have you been having trouble in coming up with a new version of that evasive program of yours?" Sigma taunts firing off a black mini-missile.
"I'll figure something out. Besides, there isn't a system that is completely flawless." Josh retorts blasting the missile with his laser.
"Face it, you and your allies old and new don't stand a chance." Sigma says firing off his own laser.
"Korskov, we've gone round and round and neither of us have been able to get the upper hand. Your alliance with Sian Reed won't change the fact that nothing you come up with will be good enough!" Josh replies bringing up his force field to block the blast.
"Hm, even if in the end you do rid the world of me you still have to deal with Skynet!" Sigma shouts and activates his flame thrower. Josh uses his freeze ray to counter it and uses his own flame thrower which is countered by Sigma's freeze ray.
'If this keeps up I'll have to use my charge shot. I was hoping to save that.' Josh thinks firing off another mini-missile.

***

"Three on one..., that's not very fair, brother." Sian says sarcastically taunting Eli.
"You've never been one to worry about fairness, Sian. I figured since you knew how to fight Keroberos and Yue you'd enjoy having to fight me with two new guardians." Eli replies throwing a spell at Sian's head.
"They're just third rate creatures that you've given some of your power to. I'll have an easier time defeating them than I had of your two former guardians!" Sian spits out and fires off another spell.
"Ok you two, sick him." Eli says smiling and the two enraged guardians charge at Sian.

***

"Why do I always have to fight the two of you? I'm getting board of fighting Drumhilde and his bitch. On the other hand...,Eli's powers have integrated with mine quite nicely. Now, let's see you two avoid this one!" Akurax says extending his arms out to his side and two dark blue disks appear in the palm of each hand. Once fully energized he throws the disks at their intended targets. Wulf and Meilin jump to the side avoiding the attack.
"You missed you leech!" Meilin says smirking.
"Turn around," Akurax says and as the pair do so the same disks come flying back. "This attack has homed in on the both of you. Run as much as you like, but once you tire out the disk will hit you and take you out of the battle." Akurax explains confidence evident in his voice.

The beast only new two things, death and destruction. It's mind was too simple to understand anything else. When its master had told it to eliminate the descendent of its former master, the new mistress of the cards, and the two guardian beasts that now protected her, it felt a great amount of pleasure. Now, however, the demon was extremely frustrated. the pair of humans were keeping themselves positioned back to back so it couldn't teleport behind one and give a damaging blow. To make things more damnedable the stupid guardians were acting like annoying flies darting in and out of his range. They kept focusing their attacks on his head or his back. Worst of all the mages were trying to freeze it again. It knew that if it were to be incased in ice the new mistress would make him subservient to her. That girl wouldn't let it destroy or kill anything. She'd probably put him at the bottom of the deck never to see the light of day. With that dark thought, the demon starts to fire off its energy balls at the two guardians. If it couldn't get behind the stupid mages it would try to out maneuver the guardians. The card continues to fire off an attack and then teleport only to repeat the process over again. This way it could avoid the freeze card and that water attack of the descendent's.

***

"What are they doing?" Akurax asks watching his hapless victims run away from the disks. "Why would they run towards each other like that?" he soon gets his answer as Meilin jumps over Wulf who dives to the ground and rolls away. The disks couldn't adjust their trajectory fast enough and the two attacks collide in an explosion.
"I must give the two of you some credit. I didn't think that the two of you could come up with something like that. I guess all good guys can't be all dumb." Akurax says throwing another blast of power their way.

***

'Well, I've got no choice, let's see if my charge shot will do any damage.' Josh thinks starting the sequence to transfer all power into the new weapon.
"What are you doing, Karthing?" Sigma asks. His mechanical eye was giving him strange readings.
"Take a good guess," Josh replies as the blue ball of energy starts to reach full power.
'What?! He's dumping all his power into some sort of super blast. It'll never get through my force field.' Sigma smugly thinks. Three seconds later the sphere of energy crashes into Sigma's shields. His arm starts to spark and his eye starts to malfunction. His shield completely fails and the Soviet is forced to use the metal arm as a shield. The pain that courses through his body and the overload in all the cybernetic circuitry causes the Russian to pass out. The mechanical arm continues to twitch while the eye shows static from Sigma's point of view.
"Phew, it worked. I better see if Wulf and Meilin need an extra hand." Josh says as the recharge sequence finishes.
'I thought for a moment that the boy was about to kill the Soviet. Hm, I wonder if I could get away with hitting that flying camera? Nah, I won't risk it. Looks like this battle has swung in their favor." the one in the black thinks looking from above the desert floor.

***

"You imbecile! Finish them...,now!" Sian shouts at the demon card. The beast had foolishly gotten trapped within the sand card. Sian could tell that the card was close to going back to card form. He needed to end his fight with his brother before the card mistress got her hands on another of his cards. Sian then feels a spell hit his protections. He turns to glare at Eli.
"We're not finished, Sian." Eli states throwing another spell at Sian.
"Well, I guess I'll have to take you out of the fight. Chain Card! Bind my brother and his guardians!" he calls out and the card starts to attack the three.

***

"Awe, lovebirds all tired out? Here, I'll help you go to sleep!" Akurax says grabbing both Meilin and Wulf's heads intending on smashing there skulls together when a mini-missile screams towards Akurax's back. It hits the vampire who rolls away from the pair. He could feel that his back had been scorched.
"You two all right?" Josh asks coming over to the two.
"A desert isn't the best place to fight like this." Wulf says taking in large gulps of air.
"Can you stall fangboy until we can catch our breath?" Meilin asks in the same shape that her lover was in.
"I'll hold him off," Josh replies training his weapons back onto Akurax.

***

"No! Get away from that card!" Sian shouts as he charges at the two young mages. The combination of the sand card, Lee's water attack, and the freeze card had entrapped the demon to the point where it reverted back to its card form. Now, it was a race between Sian and the two mages for the card. Akurax, hearing that the card had failed, turns into a bat and power dives towards the card. He scoops the card up in his talons, but an incendiary mini-missile hits his left wing and both the card and the bat crash to the ground.
"Demon card!" Sakura shouts starting the chant to change the card.
"Oh no you don't!" Sian shouts as he charges at the pair. Unfortunately for him he ran into a road block in the form of both Yue and Keroberos.
"Renounce your dark master,..."Sakura continues now with Lee channeling his power to the task as well. Akurax shakes off that last attack but he feels a pain in his right wing.
"Going somewhere, Akurax?" Wulf asks as the concealed blade of the hammer was now out and had been driven through Akurax's wing. He cries out in pain as he tries to struggle away from Wulf. Since the blade went through his wing it also had gone through several inches of sand. Akurax was going nowhere.
"...and draw your strength from my light!" Sakura finishes and the card begins to go from red to pink.
"No!" Sian says teleporting away from the two guardians, "Demon card, your spirit for now and forever shall feed off my fire!" Sian chants and once again the two opposing magics try to work against each other in a bid to take the card.
"Yes,' Eli thinks as he watches the struggle from his prone position. 'They're doing it.' He could see their auras blending into a golden light as they fought against the red aura of Sian. 'Keep it up...,he won't last long at this rate.' Eli had stopped struggling within the bondage of the chain. It was useless to try and break out when his staff had fallen beside him and he couldn't reach it.
"Give it up! You can't...," Sian starts to taunt but he feels a harsh kick to his right arm. The near bone breaking blow forces Sian to drop his staff and allows Sakura to change the card.
"You've lost, Sian!" Meilin says smirking. She had been the one to deliver the kick that gave Sakura the advantage.
'I don't think I'll be able to call back the chain card and get both of my allies out of here. I don't like the idea of running away, but I don't have a choice. I can't believe we lost like this.' Sian resigns himself and teleports once to blast Wulf away from Akurax, teleports a second time to position himself near Sigma, and teleports a third time to get the three back to Skynet.
"This challenge is over! Your side has won." and with that the one in the black seems to fade away from the desert.
"Anyone mind helping me out of this chain?" Eli asks jokingly.
'You think you've got enough to change that one as well?' Lee asks through the link.
'With your help I will,' Sakura answers. The two slowly make their way to Eli and Sakura once again uses the incantation and another card is transformed.
"Everyone ready to go?" Josh asks and the group nod in affirmative. The group disappears in a flash of light leaving the desert baron once again.
"All right, come out from under that cloak." the one in black commands. He had only used his powers to make it look like he had left the dimension.
"How did you know?" the tall, black haired girl asks as she and the one with the green eyes did as he asked.
"Just because that cloak is invisible doesn't mean it doesn't cast a shadow. I was to be judge of this challenge. Why are the two of you here?" the one in the black cloak asks coming over to the two.
"I wanted to watch as well." the girl states back.
"Shouldn't the two of you be fucking somewhere?"
"We were going to do that afterwards." the green eyed boy says smirking.
"All right, let's go." the one in the black cloak says and grabs the others by the shoulders and teleports in a blast of black lightning.
