Chapter Eighteen

“Our little flower, pregnant?!” Shigure asked, dropping his teacup. “Yuki, Kyo, you naughty naughty boys!” They had decided to tell the family one at a time, since it would probably be dangerous to tell them all at once. They would probably have a stampede. Shigure was the first, and judging by his reaction, it was a good decision. They had gone to his house, which was surprisingly tidy, and he had seemed delighted at the company, rushing around the kitchen making tea.
“Shut up!” Snapped Kyo. “Why’d we even have ta tell him?”
“He would have found out eventually.” Yuki said, sighing. “It would have been rather obvious in a little less than four months, anyway.”
“Yeah, but he wouldn’t have been giving us grief before that.” Kyo said, cat ears flat on his head.
“Oh Yuki, Tohru, Kyo, how wonderful!” Ayame said, bursting into the room, causing all four of them to jump, clutching at their hearts. “Hari just told me the news!”
“No he didn’t.” Yuki said. “He told us he would let us tell everyone.”
“Well, told, overheard, either way.” Ayame said, waving his hand dismissively.
“Aya, did anyone else happen to ‘overhear’?” Shigure asked, frowning.
“Well, I think Haru may have been with me, but I was too excited to notice!” Ayame said. “Tohru, you simply must let me make ALL your maternity clothes! The things you get off the rack are simply dreadful! I swear, were they made from potato sacks?”
Tohru smiled. “I guess that’s ok. I’m gonna have to tell the agency I can’t work for a while.”
“And why not?” Shigure asked. “You won’t show until you’re in the fifth month or so, and I’m sure there’s maternity clothing modeling jobs.”
“But how many of those can there be?” Tohru asked, smiling. “No, it’s better to take a break, then go back when it’s born.”
“I’m not sure I want her working when she’s pregnant anyway.” Yuki said, frowning.
“She’s fine.” Shigure said, rolling his eyes. “It’s not like she’s dying. She’s just having a baby.”
“Shut up. She’s having my baby…”
“Or mine!” Kyo interjected.
“Or his baby, and I want her to be healthy.” Yuki said, narrowing his eyes at the smirking dog.
“Are you two going to wrap her in cotton for the ENTIRE pregnancy?” Ayame asked, grinning.
“No, just the last four months.” Yuki said, smiling at her.
Tohru laughed. “I’m going to make some more tea.” She said, standing and heading for the kitchen. She stopped suddenly, a sweat drop rolling down the back of her head. “I forgot, I don’t live here anymore.” She said, smiling nervously.
Shigure laughed. “Feel free to help yourself to anything in this house, Tohru.” He said, winking. “I haven’t moved anything from where you had it.”
“Ok, I’ll be right back.” She said, smiling as she went into the kitchen. She was back minutes later with a fresh pot of tea. “Here we go!” she said, pouring some in everyone’s cups.
Shigure took a sip and sighed happily. “Oh, how I’ve missed your tea.” He said, tears running down his face. “I can’t believe I let Yuki and Kyo steal you away from me.”
“Let us hell.” Kyo snorted. “We’d better go. We still have to visit the main house. That’s gonna take the rest of the day.”
“He’s right.” Yuki said, sighing. “Momiji and Kagura alone are going to take a few hours.”
They said their goodbyes and left, heading up the road to the main house, where most of the Zodiac lived. They weren’t looking forward to this…
* * *
“Kyo, you’re gonna be a father!” Kagura squealed, leaping at the resigned cat and scattering the cookies she had gotten out for them all over the floor. “Oh, can I be godmother? I’d be a perfect godmother; I AM going to be godmother, right? If I can’t have your children myself, then being godmother would be the next best thing!”
“What?!?” Kyo said, incredulous and scowling. “The kid ain’t even born yet! Lay off!”
Kagura climbed off him, pouting. “You’re lucky you belong to Tohru now.” She said, sticking her nose in the air. “Or I’d just have to convince you I’d be a perfect godmother.” Kyo shuddered.
“Kagura, we’ll let you know when the baby is going to be born, but right now we need to get to Hatori’s. Haru and Momiji are the only ones left to tell.” Yuki said. “We’ll call you later.” He helped Tohru out of her seat and escorted her to the door, holding her hand.
Kyo sighed. “He’s gonna treat her like a freakin’ snowflake.” He said in disgust.
“You will be too.” Kagura said, grinning. “You just won’t let people see you do it.”
“Shut up!” Kyo snapped, blushing. He stood and walked over to the door, not quite sure what to do next. It seemed rude to just walk out…
“You’d better catch up with them.” She said, eyes soft. “They’re waiting for you by Hatori’s house.”
“…Bye.” Kyo said, leaving the house and closing the door behind him. Kagura sighed and cleaned up the living room from their visit.
* * *
“I’ve made you an appointment with a friend of mine.” Hatori said, handing her a card. “He’s an excellent doctor, you couldn’t be in better hands.”
“Thank you Hatori!” Tohru said, smiling at him.
“You’re welcome.” He said, smiling back. “Have you told everyone you wanted to tell?”
“We still need to tell Haru and Momiji, that’s why we’re here.” Yuki said.
“Tell us what?” Momiji asked, coming into the room. He had a sucker in his mouth. “Hi Tohru!”
“Hello Momiji!” She said. “Where’s Haru?”
“He’s comin’. He was makin’ kissy face with Rin, so I went on ahead.” Momiji said, grinning. “What do you wanna tell us?”
“We should wait until Haru gets here.” Yuki said. “Then we only have to say it once.”
“Say what?” Haru asked. He had a lipstick smear on his mouth. Kyo smirked and tossed him a tissue. He wiped it away unselfconsciously. “What’s going on?”
“We have a little news for you.” Tohru said, smiling.
“About the baby? Yeah, I knew.” Haru said calmly, while Momiji squealed and leaped at Tohru. “Congratulations.”
“How did you find out?” Hatori said, surprised.
“You really need to get a lock for your office door.” Haru said, shrugging. “I tried to chase Ayame out, and we both heard.”
Hatori sighed.
“Oh, you’re gonna have a baby! That’s great! Have you told everyone?” Momiji asked, eyes shining.
“Yes, everyone knows now.” Yuki said. “Your reaction was one of the milder ones.”
“D’you know everyone asked to be godmother or godfather?” Kyo said, sighing.
“Except Ayame.” Tohru said, smiling. “He said uncle would be good enough for him.”
“Even Hari asked?” Momiji said, looking over at the dragon.
Hatori blushed and cleared his throat. “If they had no other alternative.” He said, looking anywhere but at the smirking rabbit.
“Right.” He said, winking at the trio. “How far along?”
“We think about a month.” Tohru said. “It must have happened on our honeymoon, I started getting sick about a week later.”
Yuki frowned. “You never told us that.” He said reprovingly.
“I didn’t want to worry you.” She said, blushing.
“We’re your husbands, it’s our job.” Kyo said. “Start telling us stuff, or we’ll make you a daily appointment with Hatori.” He said, smirking.
“They’ll do it, Tohru.” Momiji said, laughing. “You’d better listen to them.”
“I’ve learned that.” She said, sweat dropping. “They had a member of the family over every day last week to help me with the chores because they thought I was doing too much while I was sick.”
“That’s not a bad idea.” Hatori said. “Doing too much can’t be good for the baby.”
“But I’m the only one who does it, and it’s not hard work at all, really!” Tohru protested.
“Bull.” Kyo said. “I’ve seen how much you do. It’s damn hard work, and you need a little help, but when I offer, you say no!”
“You work so hard at the Dojo, it’s not right that you get home and immediately start working again!” Tohru said, frowning with concern.
“I can do a few chores, it’s not like I’m decrepit!” Kyo said. “And the rat can do some stuff, even though he’s mostly useless around the house.”
“I am NOT useless!” Yuki said, scowling. “I do my share.”
“Like how you cooked dinner last night?” Kyo asked, smirking. “Best takeout I ever had.”
“At least I’ve tried!” Yuki said, narrowing his eyes. “What have you done?”
“Shut up!” Kyo yelled, clenching his fists.
“Please don’t fight!” Tohru said, stepping between them. “I promise I’ll ask you to do more housework!”
Haru laughed. “I can’t believe they’re mad about not having enough housework.” He said, smiling slightly. “It’s usually the other way around.”
“They’re just special.” Hatori said calmly. “I’ll expect updates on the pregnancy periodically, Tohru.”
“Of course!” She said, smiling.
* * *
“Yuki, Kyo, it hurts!” She said, tears dripping down her face.
“You’re doing so well, Tohru!” Yuki said, sponging her forehead with a wet towel. “Just a few more pushes, and we’ll have our beautiful son or daughter.” Sweat was dripping down his face just as much as it was hers.
“Or OUR little son or daughter!” Kyo said, smirking. “We won’t know until it’s born.” He was sweating just as hard as the other two.
“All right, it’s time for another push!” Hatori said, standing at the other end with the ob/gyn who was helping to deliver the baby. They had been in labor for over seven hours, since about two in the afternoon. And it was a literal ‘they’. Kyo and Yuki were experiencing every pain, every clench, every spasm. They had been swearing they’d never touch her again by the end of the first hour, and had actually spilled a few tears when the epidural kicked in, though they’d never admit it. The rest of the Zodiac was waiting out in the lobby. Ayame was twitching so much Shigure thought he’d have to restrain him.
“You’re doing great!” The doctor said cheerfully. “Now, let’s get it out of here, shall we?”
“Please?” Yuki asked through gritted teeth, his hands clutching the bars on the side of the bed.
“That’d be good.” Kyo said, twitching with the contraction.
Tohru sobbed and bore down, trying to bring their child into the world. Kyo and Yuki moaned louder than she was, sweat pouring down their faces. She fell back on the bed gasping for air, while Kyo and Yuki sighed with relief.
“Tohru! I see the head!” Hatori said. “I think it has dark hair, like you!”
“One more long push, and we can say hello!” The doctor said cheerfully. “Now, push!”
Tohru grunted with the effort, her face turning bright red. Kyo and Yuki gripped her hands tightly, doing their best not to yell in pain. Slowly, ever so slowly, the baby’s face slipped into the world, then its shoulders, then the rest of it.
“It’s a boy!” Hatori said, smiling up at the panting trio. “Congratulations!”
“Whose is it?” Yuki asked, peering down at the baby. He turned slightly green. “Is it…supposed to look like that?”
Hatori smiled. “Yuki, he was squeezed through an opening the size of a large grapefruit. You’d be a little strange looking too.”
“But what’s that…gunk all over him?” Kyo asked, looking a little sick himself.
“That’s perfectly normal too.” Hatori assured him. “Now, would you like to hold him?”
“Yes!” Tohru said, sitting up slightly. She held out her arms and accepted her son, cooing in delight. “Yuki, he looks like you!” She said, smiling delightedly. “He’s got your face!”
“You know, he does.” Hatori said, peering at the still scrunched, red face. “He appears to be Yuki’s son.”
Kyo visibly drooped. “Damn rat.” He muttered. “What does the little brat look like, anyway?” he said, pulling the blanket away from the baby’s face. It startled the baby, causing it to blink it’s eyes open for the first time. They were the exact same shade as Kyo’s. “What the hell?!”
“What?” Hatori asked, stepping up beside the bed. His eyes flew open. “What in the…” He muttered, taking the baby. “I think we need to run some blood tests. We’ll bring him right back.” He said, taking the baby over to a table, where they unwrapped him. They quickly pricked his heel, causing him to howl. They wrapped him up again and took the blood off to be tested. Hatori carried the still screaming baby over to the three. Kyo grabbed him and cuddled him close protectively.
“What the hell’d ya do that for!?” He asked, glaring at Hatori.
“We had to get a blood sample.” Hatori said calmly. “We’ll know in a few hours whose baby he is. At the moment he has to go to the nursery so the mother can rest.”
“I’m fine!” Tohru said, frowning. “I want to hold him some more!”
“You’ll get plenty of chances.” Hatori said, smiling. “You can have him back tomorrow morning.”
“But I’m not sleepy!” Tohru said, yawning.
“I know.” Hatori said. “But you need your rest. I’ll have the nurses bring in some cots for Yuki and Kyo.” He left, taking the baby with him.
“He’s a beautiful child, Tohru.” Yuki said, kissing her lightly on the lips.
“Sure is.” Kyo said. “But I think his eyes are his best feature.” He said, kissing her as well. “Would you like to take a nap?”
“No, I’m not sleepy, just tired.” She said, eyes drooping closed.
“I know.” Yuki said. “Why don’t you rest until they bring him back, then?”
“When will they bring him back?” Tohru asked, eyes closed.
“Soon.” Yuki said, kissing her forehead. “now rest.”
“Wake me up as soon as they bring him back.” Tohru said before falling asleep.
“We will.” Kyo said, running a finger down her cheek. “She worked so hard.” He said to Yuki.
“She did.” Yuki said. “I just wish we could have taken some of the pain away from her.”
“What about the rings?” Kyo said, holding up his hand.
“I don’t think so.” Yuki said. “I think we just got an echo.”
“If that was an echo, what the hell did SHE go through?” Kyo wondered aloud, gazing at their wife.
“Kyo, I think this is the time we get down on our knees and thank god we were born men.” Yuki said seriously.
“Amen.” Kyo said, just as solemn. They set up the cots the nurses brought in and curled up next to Tohru, still holding a hand each.
* * *
“Oh, he’s so CUTE!” Kagura said, leaning over Momiji’s shoulder to look at the baby, who blinked up at her. “What did you name him?” She was dying to hold him, but she didn’t dare transform when there were so many people around, and there was no guarantee she wouldn’t, since the child wasn’t cursed.
“We decided to call him Jomei.” Tohru said. “It was one we all liked.”
“I wanted Kin.” Kyo said, sticking his nose in the air. “But Jomei is ok too, I guess.”
“Yes Kyo.” Yuki said, rolling his eyes.
“Did you ever find out whose son he is?” Haru asked, taking the baby from the pouting rabbit.
“Well, truthfully? He’s both.” Yuki said, shaking his head.
“What?” Haru asked, sounding surprised. “How’s that possible?”
“Part of the curse. Jomei got some of his genes from me, some from Yuki.” Kyo said.
“That’s Akito for you.” Kagura said, looking pole-axed. “Sneaky even when he’s dead.”
“What effect is that going to have on him?” Shigure asked.
“None, as far as we can see.” Yuki said. “They’ve run every test they can think of on him, but he’s fine.”
“That’s great news!” Kagura said. “When can you take him home?”
“Tomorrow.” Yuki said. “May I have my son back now, Haru?”
“I guess.” Haru said. “He’s cute.”
“He looks so much like all three of you!” Momiji said, staring Jomei, who stared back, a curious look in his unfocused garnet eyes.
“He’s got my eyes.” Kyo said proudly.
“Let’s just hope he doesn’t have your temper.” Shigure said, grinning.
“And what’s that supposed to mean!?” Kyo yelled.
“Kyo, you’re scaring the baby.” Yuki said, cradling the now whimpering infant closer to his chest. “Please try and restrain your temper.”
Kyo growled but sat back down, glaring daggers at both the dog and the rat. “Where’s everyone else?” He growled. “I didn’t think you could keep the Snake away!”
“The doctors had to sedate him last night.” Shigure said cheerfully. “He’s still sleeping it off in the next room.” Yuki started to grin evilly, and Shigure smirked. “Sorry Yuki, but he’s had a nurse in there all day for some reason or another. You’d never get away with whatever it is you’re thinking of doing.”
Yuki visibly deflated. “What about Kisa and Hiro?” He asked, looking around. “I wouldn’t think you could drag them out of here with a crane. Well, Kisa at least.”
“That’s just about what it took.” Shigure said, smiling. “When she found out she couldn’t see you last night, she was going to wait in the waiting room until she COULD. Hiro had to tell her the nurses wouldn’t let her stay, and even then he had to bring in a nurse to confirm it. Carefully coached, of course.”
“Of course.” Haru said. “She’ll be here any time.”
“It’s almost unreal, you two have graduated.” Hatori said reflectively. “It seems like just yesterday Momiji was running around in a pink jacket and that awful blue hat of his.”
“Hey! It wasn’t awful!” Momiji said indignantly.
“Yes, it was.” Haru said.
“I’m sorry Momiji, but it was.” Shigure said. “SO! Any time you need a sitter, I’m right up the road!”
“We know.” Yuki said, rolling his eyes. “We thought about that yesterday.”
“But it’s too soon to move.” Kyo said, smirking.
“You’re so cruel!” Shigure said, tears pouring down his face. “And it’s been so lonely ever since you moved out!”
“Bull shit. Mii moved in a few months after we moved out.” Kyo said, smirk growing wider. Shigure blushed and the rest of them laughed.
“Sissy!” Kisa said, coming into the hospital room, followed by Hiro and a stumbling Ayame. “How are you?”
“I’m fine Kisa.” Tohru said, smiling at the small teen. Kisa hadn’t really changed. Even in high school she was a shy girl, but once she joined the swimming team, she had stopped being so timid. She would never be the vivacious person her cousins were, but she no longer sank into the woodwork.
Ayame came stumbling into the room shortly after Kisa and Hiro, moaning and holding his head. He flopped onto the foot of the bed, pulling a spare blanket over his eyes. Kyo and Yuki scowled at him, but left him alone.
“Did you finally pop the new cousin?” Hiro asked, peering at the bundle of blankets in Tohru’s arms.
“Hiro!” Kisa said scoldingly. He grinned at her.
Tohru laughed. “Yep.” She said, putting the tiny baby into his arms. “Do you want to hold him?”
Hiro froze while Jomei stared up at him curiously. “Very cute, you can have him back now.” He said, holding the baby out at arms length.
“You’re doing fine.” Yuki said, smirking. He had never seen the sheep so flustered in his life.
“Don’t you want to take him back now?” Hiro asked desperately, holding the puzzled infant out to his mother.
“No, that’s ok.” Tohru said. “You can hold him for a while.”
“No he cannot!” Ayame said, sitting bolt upright. “I haven’t held him yet! As his half uncle, I have every right to hold him!”
“Calm down you stupid snake, you can have him.” Hiro said, looking very relieved as he held the baby out to the ecstatic snake.
“Yuki, he’s your spitting image!” Ayame said, smiling. “He’s going to have our good looks!”
“The poor kid. I’m gonna have ta take him and get the word ‘boy’ tattooed across his forehead.” Kyo said.
“Shut up.” Yuki said.
Ayame held Jomei until he started to whimper. He quickly handed the now crying baby back to his mother and started jittering, wondering what he had done to offend Jomei so much.
“Don’t worry Ayame, he’s just hungry.” Tohru said, handing Jomei to Kyo who bounced him a bit while his mother unbuttoned her blouse.
The boys blushed, but no one wanted to be the first to look away. Ayame and Shigure fell into a conversation about the beautiful nurses, while Haru and Momiji stared at the ceiling. Hiro was a bright red and he had determinedly fixed his gaze on the television, which was showing a rerun of an infomercial. Kyo and Yuki smirked at their antics, but didn’t really move to stop anyone looking. Tohru was feeding the baby, no big deal.
Kagura grinned and snapped a picture of the group of flustered males. She was never gonna let them live this down.
“Mrs. Sohma, you have ANOTHER visitor.” A nurse said. She was leading Ritsu in by the hand. In fact, she was practically dragging him. “Oh, is he eating?” she asked, smiling.
“Yes.” Tohru said, wincing. “Very hard.”
The nurse laughed. “Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it.” She said, winking. “But I would suggest a bit of petroleum jelly after he nurses. It always helps.”
“Thank you.” Tohru said. “Hello Ritsu!”
“H-hello.” He said, coming into the room slowly. He craned his neck to look at the baby, then paled, his eyes going wide as dinner plates. “I’M SORRY!” He said, backing away so fast he left skid marks. “I SHOULD HAVE KNOCKED! I DIDN’T SEE ANYTHING! I PROMISE!”
“Ritsu, it’s ok!” Tohru said, sitting up farther, causing Ritsu to blush and clamp a hand over his eyes.
Yuki sighed and draped a blanket over Tohru’s chest and Jomei’s face. “It’s all right now Ritsu. She’s covered.”
Ritsu took his hand down slowly, peering at the bed suspiciously. He took his hand down, very relieved. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have come in without knocking. I didn’t know you were feeding the baby.” He said, bowing to the floor.
“I don’t mind.” Tohru said, smiling. “Everyone else is here, and I’m going to have to feed him a lot, so it’s really no good being modest.”
“I suppose.” He said, sitting on the edge of the bed gingerly.
“I think it’s about time to change.” She said, wincing. “He’s not getting anything anymore.” She handed the blanket to Ritsu, who flushed and closed his eyes tightly. She broke the suction on the first breast and raised him to her shoulder to burp him. Everyone grinned at the loud belch that rattled through the room. She switched him to the other breast and winced again as he latched on eagerly. She covered herself with the blanket again and resumed conversation.
“So where’s Kisho?” Haru asked, looking around.
“My mother’s watching him.” Kisa said. “She loves him.”
“He’s walking really well now.” Tohru said, smiling. “And he called me mama yesterday.”
“You know what’s really funny?” Shigure said, grinning. “He calls Yuki dada and Kyo papa.”
“So he knows the difference between them?” Momiji said, looking surprised. “That’s one bright 12 month old.”
“He really is.” Tohru said happily. “He loves it when you read to him.”
“Tohru, you are so lucky.” Kagura said, smiling. “You have not one but TWO drop dead husbands, you have two beautiful children, a beautiful home, a promising career, what are you going to do next, run for prime minister?”
Tohru laughed. “I couldn’t have done it if I hadn’t met all of you.” She said, looking around the room at the Zodiac. “I’m so lucky!”
“We’re the lucky ones.” Yuki said. “You brought sunshine into our family.”
“And you actually got Yuki and Kyo to get along. That’s a miracle in itself.” Hiro said, grinning.
“I’d be forced to agree.” Hatori said, coming into the room as well. “How is he doing?”
“He’s doing really well.” Tohru said, smiling. She took the blanket off again and burped Jomei, then wrapped him up tightly so she could hand him to Hatori while she buttoned her shirt.
“He looks good.” Hatori said, looking down at the sleepy baby. “Good work Tohru.”
“Thank you Hatori.” She said, grinning.
“You act like SHE did all the work.” Yuki said in amusement.
“Yeah, we contributed.” Kyo said, smirking.
Kagura rolled her eyes. “When you give birth, we’ll talk.” She said dryly.
“No thank you.” Kyo said, shuddering.
“That’s what I thought.” Kagura said, grinning. “I can’t stand it anymore. I’ve gotta hold him!”
“I think it might be better if Kisa tried the first time.” Haru said quietly. “She’s so much bigger now, and she could keep holding him if she transforms.”
“That’s a very good idea. And I’m sorry Kagura, but if you were to transform, your hooves might hurt him.”
“I never thought of that.” Kagura said, chagrined. She gazed longingly at Kisa, who was reaching her arms forward to receive the baby. A few others gathered around to catch the baby incase she transformed. Slowly, Yuki lowered Jomei into her arms, not releasing him completely.
With a muffled BOOM, Kisa transformed into a large Siberian tiger. Her heavy striped body took up half the floor space in the small room. Yuki quickly snatched Jomei back from the large animal just before he hit the floor.
“It didn’t work.” Kisa said in disappointment. “Oh well, I can still hold him, I’ll just have to wait until we get back to your house, where I don’t have to worry about transforming.”
“And we better hope you change back before a nurse comes in.” Ayame said, frowning. “A ten foot tiger isn’t easy to hide you know.”
* * *
“I’m glad Kisho grew out of this bed.” Tohru said, lowering Jomei into the cradle in the nursery. “It was just in time, too.” She went over to check on Kisho, who was curled in a crib on the other side of the nursery, thumb in his mouth. She tucked the blanket closer around his shoulder and kissed him on the cheek, causing him to stir in his sleep.
“And we have everything else we need.” Kyo said, leaning against the doorframe. “C’mon, he’ll be ok. We can hear him in the monitor when he wakes up.”
“Ok.” Tohru said, smiling. She yawned delicately. “I’m so sleepy!”
“You wake up every three hours to feed the kid, of course you’re sleepy.” Kyo said, pulling her to his side. She smiled and put her arm around his waist, strolling slowly down the hall to the bedroom, where Yuki was changing into his pajama bottoms and turning down the bed.
“Are they both asleep?” He asked, smiling a welcome.
“Yeah. I fed Kisho while she fed Jomei.” Kyo said, pulling his shirt then his pants off and climbing into the large bed.
Tohru slipped her dress off and put on her nightgown, climbing into bed beside Kyo, settling to her spot in the middle, while Yuki climbed in last. “I’ll have to get up in a few hours, maybe I better sleep on the outside.” She said anxiously.
“That’s all right.” Yuki said. “I’ll get them if they start crying. I can feed Kisho myself, and I’ll bring Jomei to you. You need your sleep”
“Tell me about it.” Kyo said, frowning. “I told the master I wouldn’t be there for a week, to help you around the house.”
“And I only have a few classes this semester, so you can let me do a few things too.” Yuki said, smiling.
“You two are too good to me.” Tohru said, eyes drifting closed. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” Kyo said. “Love you.”
“Love you too.” She said. “Love you Yuki.”
“I love you too, Tohru.” Yuki said, kissing her on the cheek. “Thank you for coming into our lives.” They drifted off to sleep, cuddled around each other, enjoying the family they had formed, together. And it was only going to get better.
Yuki’s last thought before he fell asleep was three words he never thought he would say. Thank you, Akito.
