Shadow Of Corruption
A New Mistake
7/6/2011
Shade stumbled into the hotel and flopped down on the bed. She had a large bruise on her cheek and blood smeared across her mouth but she smiled.
Gertrude was happy until she saw the condition her partner was in. A new pokeball in hand. She glowered as she felt something off about the whole thing, but she wasn't going to bring anything up until Shade was sober.

Shade rolled over to see Gertrude holding coffee. Shade reached for it only to have Gertrude pull the cup away.
"Babe, coffee..."
"What happened last night after I left?" Gertrude motioned for Shade to look in the mirror. "What's in the ball?" She motioned to the pokeball beside Shade.
"Uuum?" Shade looked at the ball for a minute. "I don't remember." She again reached for the coffee only to have it levitated away.
The dark trainer stood and stradled Gertrude's lap. "What do I have to do to get some coffee?" She smiled sweetly.
"What do you remember?" Gertrude asked sternly.
"A fight. I think I was in it." Shade touched her cheek and Gertrude did as well, a flash of sympathy on the Gardevoir's face. Shade smiled wider and nuzzled Gertrude's palm.
"Open the ball." Gertrude demanded softly.
NOON
"Gertrude!" Shade called through the door. Beside her sat a very confused Mightyena. Shade looked to him. "It's not you personally, she... uh... there was a... yeah, that is hard to talk about." The Mightyena cocked his head and tilted his ears.
Shade bent down and wiped some blood from his nose. "So what happened last night?" Shade asked the dark type canine.
"You stole me." He stated flatly. "Good thing you did. I want to get back to my real trainer."
"What?" Shade took a drink of the coffee, her fifth cup and nearly half the pot.
"My first trainer made a bad trade. He did not know what this new guy was like. He tried to get me back but..."
"So what's your name?" Shade asked.
"His name doesn't fucking matter!" They heard through the bathroom door.
Shade chuckled but he put his ears down and whined softly.
"Don't mind her." Shade said softly and patted his head.
"I don't really have a name, like I think you mean, but Nathan called me Bud." He answered.
"Nice to meet you, Bud." Shade ruffled his fur. "I'm Shade, Sugar is up in the closet." Shade pointed to the open door where the Zubat was napping from the pole. "Gertrude is in the bathroom."
"I want him gone!" Gertrude yelled, only this time not in Shade's head but vocally in Gardevoir talk.
"Gertrude, he needed help. I couldn't just let him be..."
The door flung open and Shade went across the room along with Bud. Luckily they landed on the mattress that had been knocked off the bed with the powerful psychic blast.
Then, POOF, Gertrude was gone.
"She'll be back." Shade pulled off her shirt. "That's hot!" She looked over at Sugar frantically fluttering around the room in surprise. "Calm down, Sugar! Come to Mommy!" The little bat made a beeline right for her and into her arms, cuddling up to her tightly. Shade just stroked the little bat's back and spoke to her softly while Bud watched with interest.
6pm
The room door opened and Gertrude stepped in. She surveyed the room carefully before closing the door. "He's gone?"
"No." Shade motioned to the ball. Before Gertrude could take off again Shade took her in her arms. "We need to talk. Bud grew up with psychic types. His first trainer and thst team saved him. A sick and abandoned pup. He isn't even from the same region as you are. He isn't the one that..." She thought a bit but gave up. "You know."
Gertrude stare, unblinkingly.
"If you put up with Bud, I'll do more to not freak out over Magikarp and..." Gertrude's highly sceptical look stopped Shade mid sentence. "I'll buy a rod and we'll start fishing tomorrow!"
"Fine, but he stays in his ball!" Gertrude pointed to the object.
"That isn't fair." Shade answered her demand. "You could always go shopping or meditate in your ball when he is out, but I won't leave him in there like a prisoner."
"Fine. Tomorrow, you are giving me your card so I can go shopping!" She smiled wryly and Shade rolled her eyes. "What? Your mess, you pay for it!"
