Chapter 19: Haunted
*Long lost words whisper slowly to me
Still can’t find what keeps me here
When all this time I’ve been so hallow inside
I know you’re still there*
He was sleeping, sleeping alone. His platinum hair floating above his head as he slept. The world was of no concern, he was sleeping. A woman, dressed in a dark grey business suit, a white tiger emblazoned on the lapel approached this man. She was beautiful, and ordinary kind of beautiful that few possessed, her blonde locks, pulled into a high bun on her head; her blue eyes watching the man with a sorrowful interest.
*Watching me, wanting me
I can feel you pull me down
Fearing you, loving you
I won’t let you pull me down*
“I see you found him,” a doctor said as he entered the room.
“Yes. This was done on her order?” the woman asked.
“Yes, ma’am.”
“I see. For his protection, I presume?”
“Yes, I believe that was what she said. She’s had it rough recently.”
*Hunting you I can smell you- alive
Your heart pounding in my head*
The woman grinned. “I would suppose so. Trying to destroy a syndicate can be hard. My associates will be very pleased to help her, but she’s refused us. The Wolves have tried torturing her until she agrees to their terms, it didn’t work.”
“Obviously, she has no regard for pain or for her life.”
“True… that is true. But she was alone before. She’s not alone anymore.”
“I heard. And I suppose he is the cause of this change in her status?”
The woman nodded. “Yes, indeed. I need him awakened as soon as possible.”
The doctor nodded. “I thought so. Wraith will be back on his feet in no time, Miss?”
The woman turned and smiled. “Julia, just call me Julia.”
