Jianyi surfaced out of the tunnel on to the road, the woman bound and struggling to move continued to walk along with him. Hearing the movement coming behind them he knew he’d have to watch his steps, instead of trying to make a break for it he found an area of foliage and pushed her down to the ground, there they waited.
Sanzo and Hakkai took the surface, hopping into Jeep and off to the road just as they saw Goku and Gojyo come up and look around. The asshole could not have got that far surely with one road, there was the road towards town and they doubted he’d try that or there was the next place up but that was a hamlet and unless he knew someone he’d be sticking out like a sore thumb.
“What do you wanna do, search the woods?” Sanzo looked at them.
“I will search around.” Goku headed towards the woods, getting closer to the woman who went to struggle for attention but was pinned down by Jianyi again.
“Forget it.” Gojyo stopped them, he looked at the guys. “We should wait for another lead.”
“What if it goes cold?” Goku looked at them.
“A guy with a kidnapped bitch is gonna be noticed. She’s a demon if what Gojyo says is right so we will hear about it pretty soon.” Hakkai nodded. “We could search for hours and find nothing in this lot.”
“And if he doesn’t surface in the next week or so we come back and tear the place apart.” Sanzo agreed with them, so Goku walked back their way. “This woman’s going to be a mess whatever happens with her, Jianyi’s not going to let this be easy on anyone.”
“Poor bitch.” Gojyo muttered.
Jianyi listened as they got back in Jeep and headed towards the town, at least they were close enough to keep the place in check. Jianyi sighed in relief once the sound of their departure was in the distance and stood up with her.
“Of course.” Sanzo appeared behind him, pistol to his forehead. “I’m also in the mood to change my mind as and when it suits me.”
“Asshole.” Jianyi pulled the woman between them; she looked at the priest with wide and startled eyes. “Shooting me means shooting her.”
“Not an issue.” Sanzo’s finger closed around the trigger.
“She’s carrying your lover’s kid if my calculations are correct.” He smirked. “You gonna pop her off knowing that?”
“If I have too.” Sanzo looked at him. “You’re my target everything else will just be collateral.”
The woman had other ideas however and turned quickly, bringing her knee up into Jianyi’s groin and taking the chance to run. She was fast too, and Jianyi didn’t have time to get hold of her but he did have time to grab the gun as Sanzo went to fire. The priests ended up in a fist fight trying to gain strength over one another and get the gun in their possession. Sanzo finally managed to win the fight over but not before a couple of the bullets rang out a song into the forest. Jianyi stepped back, winked at him and then ran into the woods once more.
Sanzo had to make a decision, to follow and leave the roadside where the guys would find him or to wait and hope they could hunt the woman down before him. In the end he decided to wait, it was complicated enough without one of their numbers being caught. When the guys finally pulled up it was Hakkai that looked around for signs of blood.
“I’m fine, sadly so is that bastard.” He slipped into the front of the car. “The woman escaped him, we should make a search for her at least.”
“And if she’s stir crazy on the minus wave we gotta put her down like a rabid dog… no matter what?” Gojyo looked at him.
“It’s your call kappa.” Sanzo said and that took them all by surprise. “He said that he’s tried to do what you feared. Which means instead of bravado about not wanting kids all over the place do you really want to risk shooting a demon that could be with kid?”
“I don’t know.” Gojyo sighed, he lit up a smoke. “FUCK!”
