An Arrangement

Ginji and Ban looked up with huge smiles from their places at the Honky Tonky\'s bar, when the bell over the door chimed. Ban\'s smile instantly vanished though, it wasn\'t a customer, it was a killer, \"Akabane.\" He almost growled out the word as if it were too fowl to even be considered a curse.

\"Greetings Mido Ban, Ginji-kun.\"

Ban froze when he didn\'t hear Ginji\'s usual hysterics when confronted with the black cloaked Jackel. He looked back at his friend and partner and found he\'d walked back to the booths to sit alone. He frowned and turned to glare at the taller man, \"What did I tell you?! Ginji hesitated to hurt his new friend and you almost killed him!\"

\"I missed the vital organs, Mido Ban, I am not an amature, I assure you.\" He ordered coffee and took the cup with a small nod, \"And I did offer my appologies after my job was finished. He walked back to the table and Ban jumped from his stood only to be grabbed by Paul.

\"Paul!\"

\"Ginji doesn\'t need a baby sitter.\" The cofffee house owner promised him, \"let him handle this on his own. He did last time Akabane was here.\"

Ban glarred at the red headed man, but sat back down. Paul served him up a coffee and then pulled a pizza from the oven and carried it to Ginji\'s booth.

Akabane sat across from Ginji this time, knowing instinctivly that his presence at the other man\'s side would not be welcome. \"You are healing well, Ginji-kun?\"

\"Yeah, I\'m okay.\"

Akabane shook his head, \"No you are not.\" He watched Ginji nibbling on the pizza in front of him and wondered what he should do. He had never been around people long enough to merit learning how to deal with them, especially when they were upset with him. Most died too quickly to become upset with him. That was his mercy.

\"I thought you said we were friends.\" Ginji frowned.

\"I did.\"

\"Friends don\'t stab each other.\"

The black clad man thought upon that for a moment. He had seen Mido Ban and Ginji fight before, but they had never used weapons. Ginji had hit the jagan user once, when he\'d gone too far with his taunting, but he\'d instantly apologised. This was useful information. \"I have never had a friend before. I am not aware of the details.\"

\"Not stabing each other is a pretty big detail, Akabane-san.\"

He nodded. \"We were on an assignment though, and neither of us would accept failure. We had to fight.\"

Ginji groaned and pushed the pizza away, confused enough to actually lose his appitite. \"This is really too much.\" He glarred up at the still smiling man and couldn\'t help but smile a little himself at the completely fox-like expression on the killer\'s face. Sometimes Akabane-san looked too sweet to be a blood thirsty maniac. \"How about this, we promise not to kill each other unless, before the fight, one of us says \'It\'s serious this time\'. That way we can fight when our jobs make us fight, but we can still be friends after.\"

Across the room, Ban groaned and glarred at Paul, \"This is how Ginji can \'handle it\'?!\"

\"Ginji knows how to handle Akabane. In fact, Ginji seems to know how he thinks.\"

\"He just told him that they could go on beating the crap out of each other on every job!\"

\"Yes, but he also got a killer to agree to not killing him.\"

Akabane leaned on the table, placing his head very close to Ginji\'s, \"I still want to fight Mido Ban though.\"

\"I\'ll still try to save him.\"

\"But still no killing?\"

\"If it\'s between Ban and you, I\'d choose Ban. I would kill you for killing him.\"

Akabane felt a very foreign pang in his chest area at those words.

\"He\'s my best friend. We\'ve been a team since I left the castle.\"

\"I can not promise not to kill him.\"

Ginji thought a moment then smiled, \"We can fight in Infinite Castle. I\'ll let the Thunder Emporer come out a little bit, not all the way, but I\'ll fight seriously. Promise that you won\'t go after Ban-chan until you\'ve defeated me.\"

\"I do not wish to kill you.\"

\"Not to the death. Knock out. First one to lose conciousness loses.\"

Akabane smiled, \"This will be very entertaining.\"

Ginji smiled back at him and they both lay there a moment, faces very close a top the cool formica table top. Finally Akabane moved that tiny bit forward and captured Ginji\'s mouth with his own.

The Blond gasped and his lips parted just enough to allow the foxy man\'s tongue entrance. He blinked when they finally parted and licked his tingling lips, waiting for the older man to speak.

\"And what about victories like those. That is how Mido Ban defeatedyou, is it not?\"

Ginji smiled, \"Nope, TKO this time. No distracting. He sat up again and grabbed aslice of the rapidly cooling pizza, appitite fully returned to him. \"How did you get so good at that move anyway, do you use it alot when you fight?\"

The odd, ku-ing chuckles that Akabane made chilled Ban even from across the room, but Ginji never dropped his smile. \"No Ginji-kun, I save that attack just for you.\"

\"What attack?\" Ban glarred at Paul, \"You know what he\'s talking about don\'t you. What did he do to Ginji, I couldn\'t see with that stupid hat in the way.\"

Paul rolled his eyes and glanced from where Ginji babbled on mindlessly to the black clad killer, to Ban\'s thunder cloud expression. The coffee house was going to be very uncomfortable for a while. He could only be thankful that he\'d given Natsumi the week off for a class trip. Dealing with Ginji\'s partner would be difficult enough.

\"Ginji!\"

The blond looked up and smiled a wide, happy smile, \"Ban-chan! It\'s okay now.\"

Ban glarred at Akabane and sat pointedly beside Ginji, never taking his eyes off if the knife wielder.

Akabane gave him one short glance and then continued to ignore him in favor of the smiling blond. \"I brought you something, Ginji-kun.\"

Bright eyes shone with childlike trust and Ban felt the familiar need to lock the innocent boy away from the world and protect him. Unfortunately now there was someone very physically present that he needed to be protected from. Ban tensed when the white gloved man reached into his jacket and didn\'t relax even when it was only a pair of books that was pulled into view. He would never relax around Doctor Jackel. The man was obsessed with both Ban and Ginji and there was no way that Ban was giving him a chance to get either of them.

\"Books?\" Ginji took the volumes curiously and studied the covers. \"Teshimine taught me to read when I was little. I haven\'t read a book since then.\"

\"They are books about electricity, what it is made of, how it can be used and what it can effect. This smaller one is a basic textbook, but the larger one is interesting. It is a work of supposed fiction about a man who can wield electricity. There are some entertaining tricks that seem feasable. I beleive you can use them.\"

\"Akabane-san.\" Ginji\'s eyes were moist and Ban fought the urge to cover them, grab his friend, and run. Akabane was a monster! Ginji had said so himself, over and over! So why was he forgetting that now, when the monster\'s sights were so obviously on him! Sure he\'d done the right thing when he was transporting that little girls blood, and yeah he\'d made apple bunnies for Ginji when he was hospitalized,
and sure he\'d fed Ginji and just given him books that might help him get stronger, but that didn\'t change the fact that he carved bloody Js in people\'s backs, tore knives out of his own skin, and killed people for amusment. So what would happen when the living breathing Ginji stopped being amusing for him. Ban glowered. He wouldn\'t let that happen to Ginji. The blond didn\'t deserve to suffer anymore. He\'d suffered enough!

\"You are a very wise person Ginji-kun, simply impulsive and not fond of comon sense. It is a waste of your potential to be used as a bat in battle instead of a sword.\"

\"Sword?\" Ginji grinned broadly, \"I can make a sword! Like you do, only with lightning! Can\'t I? Can\'t I?\" Ginji was almost bouncing.

\"Yes, I believe you could, Ginji-kun.\" He smiled fondly, simply ignoring the fact that Ginji hadn\'t understood the metephor.

The smile on Ginji\'s face couldn\'t have been brighter if it had been sparking. \"I\'m going to read these and do my best!\"

\"We should meet at Infinite Castle in a week, to test your new found abilities.\" The dark eyes arched up in their foxy smile.

Ban trembled in rage and opened his mouth to forbid it, when Ginji chirped, \"Yep!\"

\"Ginji!\"

Akabane stood with the grace of a feline in human form, and tipped his hat with a smirk, \"I look forward to it, Ginji-kun.\"

The moment the door shut, Ban was on his feet and smashing Ginji into the nearest wall, \"Are you insane?!\"

\"B. . . B. . . ban-chan!\" He whined.

\"That\'s Akabane! Ginji you can\'t be friends with every bad guy we meet!\"

\"But you\'re friends with Himiko, and she. . .\"

\"I knew her before! I know who she is!\"

\"But when you first met her you didn\'t.\"

\"She didn\'t try to kill me the first time we met!\"

\"I tried to kill you!\"

\"That was different!\"

\"No it wasn\'t!\"

\"He LIKES to KILL people Ginji!\"

\"Well So DID I!\"

Ban froze and fell back to his seat, staring at the comical, happy man\'s face and seeing the Thunder Emperor there. \"Ginji.\"

\"I liked killing the people from the middle level. They killed so many of us, It was a game to see how many I could kill at once. The Thunder Emperor is inside of me, He IS me. The only difference is that I don\'t want to kill as Ginji. I don\'t want to kill anymore. But I did.\" He almost growled and Ban couldn\'t beleive he hadn\'t seen this if it bothered his friend so much. \"I killed and I liked it very much.\" He left half of the pizza on the table, and Ban frozen in the booth, and walked outside, instantly surrounded by a torrential down pour.

Paul sat opposite Ban, and pushed the leftoverfood forward, \"No sense in letting it go to waste.\" He tried to lighten the mood a little, and failed miserably.

The blue eyed boy looked at the pizza and stood, walking to the door. \"I\'m not hungry.\" Then he was gone, and Paul stared at the empty coffee house with a loud sigh. He really hated Mondays.
