A worth while path

Chapter two

Matagu lay awake thinking about what had happened earlier that day. His Parents had not been kind when they ordered him to never see her again. Staring at the ceiling he realized that all this had happened too fast. Grabbing the phone he dialed Koishi’s number, even though it was late he had to talk to her, there was something he needed to know.
Her tried voice mumbled a hello and Matagu found it hard to speak. After the fourth hello he finally spoke but it was weak and nervous.
“Koishi.. It’s me Matagu.. I .. Uhh.. Uhh.. Wanted to ask you a question...”
She paused for a moment then a sigh was heard. He sighed also, trying to calm some of his nerves while waiting for her to speak.
“Matagu.” Her voice held a serious tone. “What I did was wrong so please don’t call me okay?” Matagu froze but then came back when he heard her whisper a goodbye. “KOISHI! Wait! please Wait! Please don’t hang up on me! Please!”
Her tone was spiteful, angry. “If you have something to say, say it already! Other wise, hang up and leave me alone.”
“Why did you come onto me so fast? Do you really have feelings for me or.. Or were you just playing with me so you could forget about him?”
She sighed, then she spoke in a voice that trembled from the treat of tears. “ I .. I don’t know what came over me. I saw you and suddenly my heart began to pound, I thought it was from getting my heart broken because of earlier but as time passed it was still beating rapidity and my body began taking over. I know it was too fast and I really didn’t mean for it to happen. It was my mistake and I’m sorry.”
A moment of silence filled the receiver then the sound of soft sobbing was heard. Matagu leaned against his wall, head facing the ceiling. “Koishi...” Before he got a chance to say anything more she hung up. Matagu resisted his urge to call her back, putting down the phone he sat for several minutes in deep thought. “What am I going to do.. Koishi.. and me together.. I don’t know if I like her that way...” Deciding not to dwell on it further he climbed into bed and turned out the light, leaving him in total darkness.


A week later Kei returned from his vacation with this aunt and uncle. AN:(Kazami was with them too but his friends don’t know that) It took everyone a short time to notice this and before long they all gathered at the foot of the door where he claimed to live, waiting with cheerful expressions and impatient conversations that went nowhere. Koishi and Matagu seemed for those brief moments to forget what had happened the previous week as they continued to chat with Kaede, Hyosuke, and Ichigo looking as happy as they had before Kei’s departure.
A sliver of yellow light spilled across the porch as Kei opened the door, a smug and wholesome look surround him. His oversized round glassed looked like they were holding the gentleness of his eyes. Everyone became silent at his appearance. He flashed a warm smile, Ichigo was the first to break the silence.
“Kei? Are you okay?”
“Y-yeah...” He shook his head as if it’d clear him of any thoughts that possessed him. “I.. I can’t come with you guys today.. Umm..” Kie rolled his eyes to the right. “I have chores and stuff to do.. Sorry guys,” Rubbing his head he smiled akwardly. Ichigo narrowed her eyes on him then turned away and started to walk off. Everyone stared at him for a moment, grumbled and followed Ichigo, Hyosuke was the only one who stayed.
“Come one Kei, We haven’t seen you forever, can’t you tell them you’ll work extra hard tomorrow?” He took kei’s shoulders in hand and shook them. Kei’s classes were about to fall off when he got Hyosuke to stop. “No..No.. I really can’t. Look I need to go now, you guys have fun.” With that he turned away and ran into the house. Ichigo spoke in her monotone calm voice. “He’s hiding something...” She lowered her eyes, knowing him a little more well then she should. Everyone thought about this and nodded in agreement. Koishi shook her head. “We’ll find out later, right now I guess we should just go.” Grinning she grabbed for Matagu’s hand and began to walk. His face flushed. “What is she doing now?” He thought to himself. “I thought she hated me.”
Koishi leaned over to whisper in his ear, it was soft on his skin but he’d never forget this moment, the words weighed heavier than it could have being spoken loudly. “Will you... go out with me?” her words were timid, Matagu’s flesh become consumed with the blush red tint that his face had moments before. He gulped and it seemed louder then any sound around him, his trembling voice whispered back with a solid answer, “No.”

Inside the Kusanagi manor Kei sat beside Mizuho rubbing her slightly plump stomach, smiling warmly at it. Mizuho laid her hand on his warm one and smiled down at him, “Life will be different with this one coming into the world.. But I’m glade to be bring our baby into the world together.” She kissed Kei on the lips lightly and he nuzzled his head against her stomach. “I’m still in disbelief, I never imagined I would be a father so soon.. This will be hard to hide from them. How are you going to explain having a baby when they don’t know you’re married?” His concerned voice trailed. She smiled at him. “Don’t worry Kei, my kind only get so big, it’s easy to hide but what about you Kei? How are you going to explain to your friends why you can’t be with them after school?”
“I’ll think of something, for now, I need to worry about only you.”
“That’s so sweet.” A high squeaky voice sounded touched behind them
Kei flung his head behind him to see Mizuho’s little sister. Kei remained speechless. Mizuho burst out. “Maho! What are you doing here?”
“We came to visit you in your time of pregnancy dear.” her mother’s seductive voice came like a wind from behind Maho.
“Mother? Why can’t you mind your own business?”
Kei tuned out right then, shaking his head. “here we go again.”
