Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Omi awakened from his sleep with a start. He stared around the room
in confusion. Was it all a dream? Was he and Nagi still captives of
that sick, perverted bastard? He jumped when lightning cracked
across the sky and rain pounded against the window. The wind howled
outside as thunder rumbled making the window rattle.
Wait a minute, there was something wrong with the room. For one,
there were no security bars on the windows. Wasn’t there suppose
to be two windows? Second, the sofa was missing
as well as there being a larger television than he remembered.
There was another crack of lightning, and the events of that
evening returned to Omi like a dam bursting. Puppet Master was
dead. He was the one who killed him. The wicked man\'s ring of male
prostitute went up in flames along with the hotel they were living in. The
police was the first to arrive, but Omi wasn\'t going to stick around. The
crowd was so large until the three boys had to hold hands and force
their way through the sea of flesh. Unfortunately, Yuuto got lost in the
ocean of bodies. Omi would come back later for the other teen. He
had to get Nagi away to safety.
So, the two of them just ran through the back alleys of Hong Kong
hiding from anything and anyone that moved. When they were far
enough away from the blaze until they could no longer smell the
smoke and barely hear the squealing sirens. The two of them sat
down on the dirty ground to rest.
Omi lay there in the soft bed sighing and ran his fingers through his
hair as he continued to relive the events of that evening.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*flashback*
\"Are you all right?\" Omi turned to the younger boy.
\"Yeah, I\'m just tired from all the running.\" Nagi leaned his head
against the older teen\'s shoulder. \"First thing we have to do is
contact Bradley to let him know where we are.\"
\"Shouldn\'t he already know where we are? He is the one with the
\'third eye\' so to speak. The eye that can see into the future,\" said
Omi snickering.
\"Normally yes, but every since Muraki resurfaced. I\'m not so sure.\"
Nagi picked at a loose thread on the sleeve of Omi\'s shirt.
\"What do you mean?\" Omi placed an arm around Nagi\'s shoulder
and pulled the boy closer to him.
\"He\'s different from me, Brad and Schu. Hell, he\'s even different from
Puppet Master.\" Nagi stretched his legs and wrapped his arms
around Omi\'s waist. \"Muraki is sadistic in the most cruel and
calculating way. No one has ever ruffled his feathers. Not even
Bradley can match that man\'s icy steel velour. But what makes
him so creepy is the length he goes to enjoy hurting and tormenting
people.
Muraki enjoys watching his victims suffer. He believes that people that
are beautiful deserves a beautiful death. He makes them suffer for
years before death finally claims them.”
Omi shuddered as he thought about suffering for God knows how long.
\"He\'s done it at least once,\" whispered Nagi as though someone will
overhear him.
\"Done what?\" Omi asked snapping out of his chilling thoughts.
\"Made a boy suffer for three years before he finally died.\" Nagi pulled
his legs up to his chest and rested his chin on his knees. \"This boy
was fifteen years old and had accidentally witness Muraki killing someone.\"
\"What did he do?\"
\"I remember him telling us that he stole the memory of that evening
and kept the boy alive. So his death would seem like he died of an
incurable disease. He needed the boy to die slowly.\" Nagi shuddered
as he wrapped his arms around his own body. \"So he placed a curse
on the boy that robbed him of his breath and warmth. And for three
long years, he watched that poor kid as that curse of his stole the life
from that boy\'s body. And Muraki being the sick bastard that he is,
told us this with a sadistic smile on his face.
\"God, talk about a monster,\" said Omi. Just then a large bolt of
lightning flashed across the sky and a booming crash of thunder
followed. The sky opened, and the rain poured down from the sky.
\"Isn\'t this just fucking great,\" Omi said disgusted.
Nagi saw an old newspaper across from him. He stretched out with
his ability and the paper floated over to him.
\"That\'s not going to keep us dry.\" Omi snorted.
\"Stop complaining.\" Nagi elbowed the older teen in the ribs.
Nagi and Omi sat huddled under the old newspaper. They were
wet, cold and hungry. \"I\'m sorry Omi. I just couldn\'t hold on to
Yuuto in the crowd,\" said Nagi. \"The crowd was larger than we could
have imagined.\"
\"It\'s okay. Once we contact Aya and Crawford, we can look for him
later,\" said Omi. He kissed the sable colored hair boy against his
flushed cheek. Omi frowned. \"We should get you inside. You have a
fever.\"
\"What I need is something to eat.\" Nagi closed his eyes. \"I am so
hungry.\"
\"Hen Bao Qian.\" Came a female voice above them.
Nagi\'s eyes flew opened as both teens stared up at the girl. Since
it was dark and raining, and with the dim glow of the street lights to
see by, all they could tell about the girl was that she had long, black
hair that clung to her hips. Dark eyes and dark complexion. She had
on a dark raincoat and rain cap, and she had her umbrella resting
against her shoulder. And she spoke fluent Chinese.
The girl spoke again, but Omi didn\'t understand a word she uttered.
So, Nagi translated for him. \"She says if we want we can stay at
her place.\"
The girl crouched down in front of them and tilted the rain cap back so
they could see her. Well, at least try to see her face. Omi realized
that the girl was, in her own way, trying to make them feel at ease.
The foreign girl spoke again and flashed them a smile. Even in the
dim glow of the streetlights, the boys could see that her smile was
so sincere and innocent that both Nagi and Omi stared at her
blushing. The dark skinned girl spoke one last time and gave them
her umbrella. She straightened up and slowly walked towards the
end of the alley.
“She said she will not hurt us. She just saw us sitting here and thought we
might need help,” said Nagi. Lightning flashed across the sky lighting up the
dark. “She also said that it is up to us if we decide to follow her.” Lightning
illuminated the dark once again as a roar of thunder shattered the silence. Nagi
stared up into the dark sky and sighed. “We need to get out of the rain.”
\"I don\'t know.\" Omi watched the girl walk away. \"What do you think?\"
\"Me. . .I don\'t know why,\" said Nagi hesitant. \"Maybe it\'s because I\'m
feeling sick or maybe it\'s because of her smile, but I believe we can
trust her.\" Nagi looked down at his cold, pale hands. His fingers were
becoming numb. \"I say we go with her.\"
Omi stared into the flushed face of his lover. Nagi\'s eyes looked
hollow and sunk deep into his head. Plus he had a fever. Dark circles
were forming around the younger teen\'s eyes. He needed to get the
telekinetic out of the rain and get him some medical treatment. Omi
shook his head sighing. \"Well, nobody ever said life was going to be
easy. Let\'s go.\"
Omi took the umbrella from Nagi and helped the younger boy to his
feet. Opening the umbrella, he held it over both his and Nagi\'s head.
The girl had stopped at the end of the alley almost as though she knew
they would follow. Once they were standing behind her. She turned to
them smiling and said.
\"Wo si xiang ni gensu.\"
\"She said . . .\" Nagi started to say, but Omi stopped him.
\"Don\'t. She guessed we\'d come crawling after her.\"
\"Not quite what she said, but that\'s along the line of what was said.\"
Nagi nudged Omi in the side with his elbow.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Making their way through the alleys, the girl led them deep into a very
bad part of the city. They came upon several young men just
standing and talking in the rain. Omi guessed they were brain dead.
Who in their right mind would be standing in the rain?
A group of men standing against a building trying to stay dry
gathered around the trio. Omi held Nagi close to him as he watched
the men circle them. The girl folded her arms and snorted at the
young men. The rain was falling harder than before. Whatever it was
the girl said to the men was lost in the rain to Nagi\'s ears. But the
men had heard her clearly. They quickly stepped to the side and let
them pass.
Omi wanted to know what she said. Whatever it was. The men looked
terrified. Farther they went into the concrete jungle that was Hong Kong.
There were catcalls and whistles from other men. The girl just flipped
them off with her middle finger and continued. Omi thought the girl was
taking them to China. It seemed like they had been walking for
hours. They turned one last corner and finally they were at her place
of residence. Omi stared in awe at the huge structure that seem to
tower above every building in the city. There were four buildings in a
box-like formation. Each structure was connected by a series of
concrete walkways on each floor. In the center was a glass elevator.
Omi thought it to be a strange designed building, having the elevator in
that position. Even though there were stairs leading up to each level.
Suddenly he felt Nagi slump slightly against his shoulder. Turning
to the younger boy, Omi wrapped his arms around Nagi\'s waist.
\"Are you okay?\" Omi was helping Nagi to stand.
\"Yeah, I\'m just a little tired,\" Nagi said weakly. \"And I don\'t feel too
well.\"
Omi placed a hand on Nagi\'s forehead. He definitely had a fever. The
girl placed one of Nagi\'s arms over her shoulder and helped Omi to
carry the weak telekinetic to the elevator. Omi was glad the elevator
was there. Getting inside, they went up to the sixth floor and hurried
down the walkway to the seventh door. Taking out her key, she put it in
the lock and unlocked the door. Pushing the door open, she led the
two teenagers inside. Only a lamp was turned on inside the
apartment.
He paid no attention to the room as the girl led them to the
bedroom. Nagi was shivering. Hell, Omi was shivering from the cold
as well. Nagi fell to his knees shivering all over and coughing. Omi
knelt beside him and held the younger boy in his arms trying to warm
him. But with his own clothes wet, he was not helping the sick Nagi
any. The foreign girl went into a closet and quickly brought out a
couple of large towels. She gave some to Omi and draped the others
over Nagi. The telekinetic\'s teeth were chattering.
The girl said something to Nagi and smiled at Omi. Then she ran out of
the room.
\"She\'s going to get the doctor for me,\" Nagi said through chattering
teeth. \"She left us some robes lying on the bed.\"
Omi looked over at the large bed and saw two thick, terry cloth robes
resting on the bed. Omi helped Nagi to his feet and helped him out of
the soaking wet clothes. Then he began to dry the sick boy off, and
helped Nagi into the robe. He pulled back the cover and ushered Nagi
into the bed.
\"How do you feel?\"
\"Tired, hungry, sick, cold, weak, but at least I\'m no longer wet,\" said
Nagi smiling.
The girl returned shortly dragging an elderly, white haired man behind
her. The man was clutching the black, doctor\'s bag to his chest and
breathing heavily. Omi realized that the girl had ran with the old man
back here. After catching his breath, the doctor took out his
stethoscope and thermometer and began to examine Nagi. Omi stood
on the other side of the bed and watched, the old man carefully.
He gave Nagi a shot and began to put his things back into the
bag. He turned to the girl saying something. The old man frowned
at the two boys and whispered something to the girl. She said
nothing, but led the old man out of the room.
\"What did he say?\" Omi asked sitting on the mattress beside Nagi.
\"That I have a touch of pneumonia and that I need plenty of bed rest and fluids. I
should be up in a few days.\"
\"Well, I guess that means no sex for the next few days.\" Omi leaned
down and kissed the younger teen on the nose.
\"You\'re a filthy pig.\"
Omi began making snorting noises like a pig, and both boys burst out
laughing.
The door opened and the girl walked in carrying a tray of food. There
were sandwiches and a soda for Omi. A bowl of chicken broth for
Nagi. There was a little fold-up table in the corner near the dresser.
She motioned to Omi to get it. Omi just stared at the girl. Nagi had
to tell him as the girl rolled her eyes exasperatedly. Omi got the
table and unfolded it. The girl placed the tray on the table and pushed
it close to the bed. She got a chair for Omi to sit in. Then she positioned
the pillows behind Nagi\'s back so he could sit up in bed.
\"Do you think you can stomach anything?\" asked Omi.
\"I guess I should as long as it\'s not anything too heavy,\" said Nagi.
As Omi helped Nagi with the soup, the girl did the weirdest thing. She just
sat at the foot of the bed with her legs crossed and watched them
eat. All the while, she held this silly little smirk on her face. The little
brat was up to something. What? Omi didn\'t know, but he was going
to find out.
