Chapter 2 - Advice

"You disapprove."

I had been in the music room composing a new piece when Master Endymion had entered. A couple of months had pasted since Master's birthday celebration, and during that time it had become apparent that he had taken something of an interest in the young Lunar Princess.

He spoke of her frequently, often musing about going to visit her on the moon, but until today, it had been nothing more than that. Until today.

"Master, it is not my place to approve or disapprove of anything that you say, do, or want."

"You would advise against it then?"

I had difficultly looking him in the eye then. The answer to his question was simple, but I never did like voicing disagreement of any type to my Master. I could not lie to him either, so my gaze travelled to the large window overlooking the grassy fields surrounding the palace. "I would," I replied quietly.

Out of the corner of my eye I saw that my Master had decided to join me by the window. He was silent for a moment before speaking. "May I ask why?"

His voice was calm, he wouldn't be upset with any of the Shitennou for simply seeing things differently. Kunzite would often voice his disagreement with the Master, but that didn't make me feel any more at ease. I tried to put my explanation as delicately as possible.

"Many people in this kingdom dislike the people from the moon. If they were to discover that their prince was making trips to the moon more often than need be, they may become somewhat distressed."

Master turned and looked at me and I too broke my gaze out the window. He was smiling, but it was a sad smile. "The people of the Silver Millennium are not as bad as everyone seems to believe, surely you see that."

"What I think of the Silver Millennium is not important, Master. The people of this kingdom have already made their decision. It will not be changed."

The smile faded from my Master's face and a more serious look replaced it. "You know I value your advice, Zoisite, however I believe that it may be flawed today. I will be going to the moon in two days time, I would like it if you and the other Shitennou accompanied me."

My Master's decision was surprising. It was the first time he hadn't taken my advice. I almost felt hurt that he wasn't listening to what I had to say, but I quickly pushed this feeling aside. He was the Master, and I would do what he said. "Of course we will, Master. I will tell the others," I said, bowing as I spoke.

"Thank you, Zoisite. I appreciate it."

Master left the room and I was once again alone with my piano, but it would have to wait. I now had to gather the other Shitennou together and tell them of our Master's plan. Kunzite was not going to like it.

"He's decided to do what?!" Kunzite's voice rang out, echoing down the halls of the palace. Jadeite cringed at this, like all of us, hoping that our Master was well out of earshot of the music room.

"I explained why it was a bad idea, he disagreed."

"Well, you didn't explain well enough!"

Unlike the rest of us, Kunzite was very vocal, even to the Master himself, if he disagreed with any decision that was made which could negatively effect the prince. I suppose it was good that one of us was, but I still didn't feel that it was our place to argue. Our Master's decisions were final.

Kunzite was angrily pacing across the room. Jadeite stood near my piano, which I was seated at, while Nephrite leaned against the wall. The other two had been silent up until this point, but then Nephrite decided to speak up.

"Regardless of how we feel about the issue, Master Endymion is going to the moon to visit the Princess. We will do our duty and accompany him."

Jadeite continued to keep his silence, but did nod in agreement. It was obvious that Kunzite's outburst had made him uneasy.

Kunzite stopped pacing and turned to Nephrite. "We will not accompany him to the moon because he is not going to the moon," Kunzite replied. He had lowered his voice, but the frustration was still quite evident. "I will speak to him. Someone has to make him see reason."

I was well aware of how Kunzite's talk with the Master was going to go, so I stood when Kunzite turned to leave the room. "Kunzite, you are not going to be successful in persuading our Master to stay if you scream at him. If you are going to try and convince him that it is a bad idea, calm yourself down first."

Kunzite stopped at the door, and appeared to be considering my words. "I plan on getting some practice in before hand," he replied.

Kunzite would take his frustrations out on the air with his sword. This would be for the best. Seeing that I had no further objections, Kunzite left the room, followed by Nephrite soon after. Jadeite however lingered by the piano.

"Do you think this situation is really that serious?" he asked. He was still young, and because of this had difficultly seeing the bigger picture. He also looked up to our Master, as though he were an older brother, rather than the one he protected. It was difficult for Jadeite to accept that the Master could be wrong.

"At the moment, no, but should our Master continue to pay these visits to the moon, it could be. I hope that he sees that before it's too late."

"Too late? What happens when it's too late?"

I closed my eyes for a moment. While I knew the answer to his question, I did not want to voice it. Perhaps I was afraid that if I did, it would come true. "I would like to play, do you mind?" I asked him instead.

"Not at all. May I speak to you later about this?"

I nodded once in reply and soon after I heard the door to the music room close. Left alone, I could now play. My thoughts were in such turmoil, though I had given no outward sign of this. I needed some time to think.
