Two wrongs make a?


Davis punched a tree as he stopped walking, he then sighed and slumped against it, he slid down the tree till he hit the ground then he tried to gather his thoughts
“Ok Davis, what just happened?” he asked himself
“You just told the girl of your dreams why your miserable all the time that’s what” he thought angrily and punched the tree again with the back of his fist

Davis took the locket from around his neck and looked at it, he then opened it and looked at the picture of Kari on the inside. The picture of Kari was smiling and had her eyes closed and had her head tilting to the right a bit, as if nothing was wrong, and when this picture was taken nothing was wrong. But the picture was over two years old and one of few pictures Davis had of Kari, Davis snapped the locket closed and sighed again
“Why, why does this happen to me?” Davis thought, he then got up and dusted himself off and headed back to camp

When Davis got back to camp he saw everyone was crowded around Kari, TK saw Davis coming and headed straight for him
“What have you said to Kari?” TK spat at Davis who said nothing and continued to walk towards his tent, TK grabbed Davis and spun him around and grabbed his T-shirt “Tell me what you’ve said to Kari” TK shouted
“Get your hands off me” Davis said angrily
“Not until you’ve told me what you said to Kari” TK said back, without warning Davis kneed TK in the balls and pushed him to the ground, Davis raised his fist ready to strike when he felt two pair of strong arms drag him back

“Davis what the fuck has gotten into you?” Matt asked dragging Davis away from TK
“Hey, what’s this?” Davis heard Yolie ask, he then realised the locket had flown out of his hand when he pushed TK to the ground
“Yolie, give that to me” Davis yelled, not wanting her to open it, but it was to late, Yolie had opened it and she saw the picture of Kari in it and the crest of light. She then turned it over and saw the words ‘To Kari, love from Davis’, Davis tried to get out of Matt and Tai’s grip but they were to strong for him

“Davis, what is this?” Yolie asked holding the locket up
“It’s mine, that’s what it is” Davis said the clenched teeth
“Then why does it say ‘To Kari, love from Davis’ on the back?” Yolie asked coming closer to Davis
“That’s none of your business” Davis said struggling against Matt and Tai
“Don’t bother struggling, your not going any where until you’ve answered our questions” Tai said

“Want to bet” Davis said as he kicked Tai on the shin which made him yelp out in pain and let go of Davis who then punched Matt in the face and he let go of Davis’s other arm.
Davis ran forward and snatched the locket out of Yolie’s hand and ran for the woods but TK tackled Davis to the ground and pinned him but Davis flipped him off and got ready to punch TK again but heard some one shout

“Stop it, everyone stop fighting”

Davis looked up and saw Kari standing, tears running down her cheeks. Davis swallowed and took some deep breaths and pulled TK up as he got up
“Your lucky Kari stopped me” Davis whispered to TK as he walked past him and headed for the forest, he closed the locket and put it around his neck and put it under his T-shirt.

Davis walked around in the forest for an hour before he found a lake; he sat down near the edge of the lake and stared in the water. Davis then took the necklace from around his neck and opened it; Davis looked at the picture of Kari and the crest of light. He got up and walked towards the water and stopped just as the water was touching his sneakers, Davis looked at the locket again then threw it into the lake and didn’t walk away until he heard a little splash.

By time Davis got back he saw everything was packed
“Grab your stuff Davis, we’re going home early” TK’s mom said, Davis didn’t say anything and walked to where his stuff was and reached for his rucksack when someone grabbed his wrist, Davis looked at the face and saw it was TK
“Give me the locket Davis” he said with an angry look on his face
“What the hell do you mean TK” Davis said pulling his wrist out of TK’s grip
“It’s obviously Kari’s, now give it me” TK demanded

“It isn’t Kari’s because I never gave it to her” Davis said angrily slinging his rook sack on his back
“What do you mean?” TK asked
“I was going to give it to her for her last birthday, I wanted to give it to her as her first present” Davis stared at TK as he started to shout so every body could hear

“I wanted to give the locket to Kari as her first present so she could appreciate it, like it was the best gift in the world for at least a minute, but you stepped in and gave her those fucking tickets, the limo and that hotel room first. You ruined my plan to at least get a thank you of great happiness, everyone was so amazed at your gift that nobody even notice me leave”

Davis stared hard at TK then grabbed the last of his stuff and stormed off to where the van was parked, every one followed Davis as he hurried off and Kari saw tears in his eyes as he passed her.

On the way back nobody said anything and Davis was grateful when they got back. When Davis had all his stuff he started to walk away when TK grabbed his shoulder
“Davis, I just want to say-“ TK started
“Save it TK, I don’t want you’re pity” Davis said interrupting TK “I don’t want anybody’s pity” Davis shouted to the others and walked towards his home

When Davis walked in to his apartment he saw his mother doing some cooking
“Oh hi dear, how was your camping trip?” she asked smiling
“It was as fucked up as my life is” Davis said as he headed for his room
“Davis Motamiya, I do not tolerate use that sort of language in my house” his mother screamed
“Whatever” Davis said as he slammed his door shut and locked it

As Tai and Kari was in the elevator Tai asked
“Kari is every thing ok, you haven’t said anything since you broke up the fight”
“No Tai, every thing is not ok, we’ve all made Davis’s life miserable” Kari mumbled looking at the floor of the elevator
Tai sighed and knew he couldn’t argue with that, he knew what Kari said was true
TK and Yolie were in the elevator to their building and they didn’t say anything until it stopped at Yolie’s floor

“You know what” Yolie said as she stepped out of the elevator
“What?” TK said
“We’re all a bunch of ass hole’s” Yolie said as the doors closed and the elevator set of for TK’s floor
“Especially me” TK thought

Tai was watching TV when he heard the phone ringing, he got up and answered it
“Hello” Tai said in to the phone
“Hi Tai” Davis said through the phone
“Oh hey Davis, you want to talk to Kari?” Tai asked
“No, I wanted to ask you a question” Davis said
“What is it?” Tai asked again
“How do you do it?” Davis asked in a sad voice
“Do what?” Tai asked, confused
“Be happy all the time, You love Sora and she’s with matt, how can you be so happy?”
“I’m happy because Sora is happy, like you should be with Kari and TK” Tai said
“Yeah, listen Tai I’ve got to go” Davis sighed and before Tai could say anything else Davis hung up


Davis walked in to Yolie’s store later and grabbed two bottles of aspirin
“Hey Davis, what’s with all the pain killers?” Yolie asked
“We were running low so my mom told me to buy some more” Davis said paying for the two bottles and then he walked out

When Davis got home no one was there, he walked over to the fridge and got a bottle of fruit juice and went inside his room, closed the door and locked it. Meanwhile at Yolie’s shop everyone that went camping was there talking to Yolie
“I can’t believe we ruined the trip,” Tai said leaning against the counter
“I hope Davis isn’t to depressed” TK said
“I hope he doesn’t do anything to drastic” Sora said
“What do you mean?” Matt asked
“You know, try kill himself” Sora said
“Don’t say that, don’t even think it” Kari said “Davis wouldn’t do that, would he?” she said

“No, Davis wouldn’t do that” ken said, “I hope” he thought to himself
“Oh no” Yolie said going wide eyed
“What is it?” Tai asked
“Davis bought two bottles of aspirin earlier, you don’t think he would, you know, try to top himself” Yolie told them, she then grabbed the phone and dialled Davis number fast and heard it ring, but no answer “No one’s answering” Yolie said putting the phone down

Everyone dashed out of the shop and ran to Davis apartment, when they got there they found the door was open. Everyone dashed in and saw no one; Kari tried Davis door and found it was locked. Kari thumped on the door shouting Davis name

“Stand back Kari” Tai said, Kari looked around and saw Tai and Matt ready to charge at the door, Kari stepped to the side and Tai and Matt charged at full speed throwing all their weight at the door and forcing it of it’s hinges. Tai looked around and saw Davis lying on the floor with an empty bottle of painkillers next to him, Kari ran past Tai and the others and shouted
“Call for an ambulance”

Davis was surrounded by darkness and he couldn’t see anything, he then heard a voice and it was singing. It was a sweat singing voice, like an angel, and it was singing:

Davis now opened his eyes and saw a bright light facing down on him, he blinked and everything came into focus. He could see a smiling face above him, Davis then recognised it was Kari
“Glad to see your awake” she said kissing him on the head
“Where am I?” Davis said rubbing his head, he had a massive headache
“Your in the hospital, you’ve had your stomach pumped” Kari said sitting in a chair that was next to the bed “What’s the last thing you remember?” Kari asked
“I remember going in to my room and opening one of the bottles of painkillers and opening a bottle of fruit juice, I then said ‘Fuck this life’ and that’s the last thing I remember” Davis said trying to sit up but his head pounded so he laid back down, Kari and Davis were quiet for a couple of minutes before Kari asked
“Did you hear the song I sang?”

“Yeah, I did” Davis said in a whisper
“You remember when you sang it to me” Kari said looking at the side of the bed
“Yeah” Davis whispered again but this time with great depression

Davis thought back about half a year, they had already taken the photo and they were in the digital world, Kari had caught a bug. Tai and the others had gone looking for the herb that could cure it leaving Davis and Kari alone. Davis held Kari’s hand tightly as she was half- a wake half- asleep
“Don’t leave me Davis” Kari panted, taking in short and quick breaths
“Don’t worry Kari, I won’t, the others will be back soon with the herb” Davis reassured her
“Can you do me a favour?” Kari asked taking more short and quick breaths
“Sure, anything” Davis said stroking the hair out of Kari’s eyes
“Sing to me” Kari said
“OK, what do you want me to sing?” Davis asked
“Anything, I don’t care” Kari said, she was breathing faster and shorter now

“Ok, how about this song” Davis said singing the same song Kari sang for him, when Davis had finished the song Kari was asleep and her breathing had slowed and deepened then the others returned and Kari was fine
“I didn’t know if you had remembered it” Davis said
“I’ll always remember it, it helped me get better” Kari said “Its special to me”
“Why is it special to you?” Davis asked
“You sang it to me, and it mean’s a lot when you sing it, it give’s me hope and I feel like I’ll never be alone, especially while your still a live” Kari said quietly

Kari then got up and left, just before she opened the door Kari turned around and said to Davis
“I’m sorry for all the misery I’ve put you through, we all are”
Then she left, leaving Davis alone with his thoughts.
A week later Davis got out of the hospital and he was still thinking about what Kari said
“What’s on your mind?” Jun asked as she drove the family car

“Sorry, what?” Davis said, snapping out of his trance like state
“What’s on your mind?” Jun asked again
“Oh, nothing” Davis said looking out of the car window
“Come on Davis, something is obviously troubling you” Jun said

Davis sighed and said nothing and kept looking out of the window, his head resting on his hand
“Fine, you don’t have to tell me, but it’s nice to tell people your problems” Jun said
“Jun, turn the car around” Davis said
“What? why?” Jun asked
“I want to go back to the camp site,” Davis said
“Why do you want to go there?” Jun asked turning the car around
“I’ve got to get something back,” Davis said

Two hours later and Davis and Jun arrived at the campsite, Davis opened his door and jumped out of the car and headed for the woods, running as fast as he could.

“Come on, come on where are you?” Davis said to himself
Davis had been running through the forest for twenty minutes and he still hadn’t seen the lake

“At last” Davis said as he saw the lake and he headed for it running as fast as he could, as he got closer he pulled of his jacket and shirt and dived straight in. The lake was freezing but Davis didn’t care, he pulled his goggles over his eyes, took a deep breath and dived. The water was dark and murky but Davis kept on swimming down, When he saw the bottom Davis started to swim around looking for something, he had to keep moving or the cold water would get to him. Davis then saw something sparkle out of the corner of his eye, Davis turned right and saw what he was looking for and he swam down and grabbed it, he then turned upwards and swam as fast as he could. Jun was calling Davis name as she found the lake, she saw his head pop up out of the water and take a big gasp of air and then he swam to the edge of the lake. Jun grabbed Davis clothes and ran around the edge to meet him, as Davis got out of the lake he started to shiver very badly.


Kari knocked on the door to Davis apartment and his mother answered it

“Hello Mrs Motamiya, is Davis back from the hospital yet?” Kari asked
“Well he was supposed to have been released earlier but he hasn’t come home yet,” Mrs Motamiya said
“Oh, ok can you tell Davis I was here” Kari said turning to leave
“You can tell him yourself” Jun said, holding a shivering Davis
“What the hell happened to him?” Kari asked, helping her to take Davis into his room

“I’m afraid I can’t tell you that, your going to have to wait till Davis wakes up” Jun said laying Davis down on his bed and pulling the quilts over him “Mom, can you get Davis a hot drink, and Kari, can you get him an extra blanket”
“Sure” Kari said rushing out of the room and returning moments later with a thick blanket and put it over Davis, just then Mrs Motamiya entered the room with a hot cup of tea

“Come on Davis, drink this” Jun said taking the tea from her mother, Kari helped Davis to sit up and helped him drink it. The next thing they know the whole room was starting to shake
“Oh no, its an earthquake” Jun said “Help me get Davis out of here”

Kari helped Jun lift Davis out, as they were walking to the door Davis heard something start to crack, he looked up and saw the ceiling start to crack and fall. Davis summoned the last of his strength and pushed Jun and Kari out of his room just as the ceiling collapsed on top of him


“DAVIS” Kari screamed at the top of her lungs, she tried to run back in to the room but Jun grabbed her and dragged her under the table, the earthquake stopped a few seconds later and everyone dashed towards Davis room. When they got in they saw that most of Davis was covered with rubble from the fallen ceiling, only one arm and a bit of his face was showing. Kari ran forwards and moved the rubble that was covering Davis’s face

“Davis, Davis wake up” she said slapping Davis lightly on the cheek, trying to wake hum up

“Kari, stop that and help us move this stuff” Jun said as she and her mother started to pull the rubble off of Davis, within five minutes an ambulance and a fire engine pulled in to the parking lot of the apartments

“Wait here” Kari said and ran out at top speed, heading for the stairs, when she met up with some firemen she told them what happened
“Jim, you go and get some paramedics and bring them up to the apartment” a man said, who was obviously the fire chief

The other men followed Kari back to Davis’s apartment and helped Jun and her mother to dig Davis out, Kari showed the paramedics which apartment it was and when they arrived they had just pulled Davis out. The paramedics ran over and checked Davis pulse, Five minutes later they had Davis in the ambulance and was rushing him to the hospital with Jun, Mrs Motamiya and Kari following closely behind in the family car.


When Davis woke he found him self-connected to a heart monitor and many other things, but he didn’t know what they were, when he looked around he saw Kari sleeping in a chair and everyone else could be seen through the window that looked in to the hallway. Davis tried to sit up but felt a sharp pain in his side so he lay back down slowly, He tried to speak but couldn’t, he started to cough and that woke Kari up with a jolt
“Oh thank god your alive” Kari said hugging him, she then ran to the door and opened it and shouted to everyone that Davis was awake and everyone came in

“Good to see your awake” Tai said, Davis tried to speak again but stopped before he started to cough again
“You’re probably wondering why you can’t speak,” Joe said and Davis nodded
“The doctor said that when the ceiling collapsed it damaged your vocal chords so you won’t be able to speak for a couple of months” Jun said sitting beside him and hugging him with one arm around the ribs

Davis flinched in pain and Jun stopped “Oh yeah the doctor said it broke a couple of ribs as well as…” Jun trailed off at the end and Davis had a worried look on his face
“As well as damaging your spine,” Kari said sadly “ You won’t be able to walk for three – six months, if your lucky”
Kari then ran out of the room with tears in her eyes, Tai shrugged and then followed her. Davis was shocked and it definitely showed on his face

Kari stopped running once she got outside and started to cry, Tai soon found her and put his hand on her shoulder
“Kari, why are you crying, you know Davis will walk again” Tai said

“It’s not that, it’s just that he’s saved my life twice now, and I feel mixed up on the inside” Kari said turning to face her brother “I don’t know what to do, what to think, I wish someone could help me.” Kari said and started to cry again, Tai pulled her into a hug and she cried in to his shoulder.
