Chapter 2

The next day Hakkai finally came out of his room. He had staggered out and had gone into the bathroom to shower, where he stayed for over two hours. When he came out he was wearing a white turtle neck and sweat pants, in attempt to cover the marks on his body. A large bandage covered the purplish black bruise on his cheek. A twinge of guilt rapidly shot through Gojyo’s body. Hakkai looked at Gojyo his eyes glazed over in sadness. He went to the cabinet where Gojyo kept the money from his winnings, and took out a couple of bills. Gojyo approached him with caution. “Hakkai? Will you please listen to what I have to say?” Hakkai looked at Gojyo and sighed. “You don’t remember what happened do you?” “No Hakkai, I swear, just please let me explain.” “Alright Gojyo explain yourself, but that doesn’t mean I have forgiven you.” Answered Hakkai as he hugged his arms. “Alright. I went to the bar to gamble, I had maybe four drinks. When I had won a decent amount of money I decided it was high time to get home, when somebody tapped me on the shoulder. That is all I remember Hakkai, I swear on my life.” Hakkai looked at Gojyo in disbelief. “I said I would listen to what you had to say, but not necessarily that I would believe you. You making excuses just makes this whole incident even worse.” Hakkai then went to the coat hanger that was by the door and got his coat. “Where are you going Hakkai?” Hakkai looked at Gojyo and said, “I’m going to the doctors to get some pain killers and some antibiotics. My backside is really torn up and raw and I can barely stand the pain, it may be infected.” Hakkai started out the door and then stopped, “Don’t worry I won’t tell anyone what happened, I do have some pride left.” Gojyo watched as Hakkai went through the door. He punched the wall, angry at himself for taking someone against their will; and furious at the fact that it had been his best friend. He still couldn’t remember anything.
Hakkai walked with great difficulty as it hurt him to even move. Every time he took a step his lower body exploded with pain. He wasn’t surprised, he was lucky to be able to stand that morning. Hakkai thought about Gojyo’s story, he didn’t know what to believe. A part of him wanted to believe it, the other didn’t. The thoughts of the rape still cluttered his mind. The memories of being tackled down, and penetrated; still hearing his own screams ringing in his head. The feeling of his nails digging into Gojyo’s back and breaking through the skin. Even if Gojyo’s story was true and he didn’t remember anything, it still didn’t change the fact that he had committed the crime. Hakkai stopped walking for a minute and looked up at the sky. He was so confused, and the truth of what happened would probably never be known. He had never considered being with another male, and the only female he had ever been with was Kanan. Even then that was when he was Gonou. Gonou was dead, and Hakkai was a virgin. He never imagined his first time would be so violent, or that his best friend would be the one committing the act. He could still feel the many times Gojyo climaxed into his body, like filth tainting his insides. Hakkai shivered and continued to walk on. Cold sweat was dripping from his forehead, and his breaths becoming shorter. When he reached Doctor Yamuko’s office he was already running up a fever, and he felt blood start to run down his thigh again. When he entered the office, DoctorYamuko welcomed him with a smile. “Mr. Hakkai, what a pleasant surprise! How may I help…Oh my God what happened to you!?” exclaimed the doctor as he eyes Hakkai’s bandaged face. Hakkai forced himself to smile “I was cleaning the bathroom and I slipped on a piece of soap. I’m doing alright but my side is killing me and I cut myself on some glass. I believe that it is infected, do you think you can give me some antibiotics, and some pain killers for the pain?” Doctor Yamuko smiled, “Of course Mr. Hakkai. Normally I would have to inspect you before I give you any medication. But you know what you are doing and I trust you.” The doctor went to a small cabinet and took out two containers and gave them to Hakkai. “Here you go. Just follow the instructions. But if the infection starts to get worse come to me immediately.” Hakkai gave a small bow and paid the doctor. “Thank you.” He was a little shocked that the doctor hadn’t examined him; but he it was probably a blessing that he didn’t. As Hakkai started to walk home his fever began to rise and his head began to spin. Thoughts began to whirlwind in his head. Gojyo was his friend, the one who had found him. Gojyo was the one who had given him a place to live. Why had he raped him? Had Gojyo really been drunk? Was there any truth to what he had said?” The world was spinning and the memories were clouding. When Hakkai reached the front of the house his fever was past one hundred he couldn’t even see the door nob. Why did something have to wrong, when everything was just right? Kanan… Everything went black.
Hakkai felt himself wake up to the feeling of someone putting a wet cloth on his forehead. He felt so sick, and the pain was past boiling point Hakkai turned around and saw Gojyo sitting by his bedside. “What happened to me?” asked Hakkai. “I was getting worried and was about to go look for you, I found you passed out a couple of feet from here. You have a horrible infection, so here take some of the antibiotics the doctor gave you. ” Gojyo handed Hakkai a pill and some water, while Hakkai lifted himself up into a sitting position. “Once you’ve had something to eat I can give you the pain killers.” Hakkai took the pill and washed it down with water. “How long have I been out?” asked Hakkai. “About a day, I managed to put you in some clean clothes, there was blood all over your sweat pants.” Said Gojyo with a twinge of guilt in his voice. Gojyo then sat down beside Hakkai. “How’s the rest of you’re body?” asked Gojyo. Hakkai looked to the opposite of Gojyo, and said “It feels like it’s on fire.” “Hakkai please…tell me what happened. What did I do?” Hakkai sighed heavily. “You came in drunk, or at least that is what I had thought. When I confronted you pushed me onto the bed and began to brutally attack my lips. I had managed to get away from you and tried to leave. I punched you in the stomach, I threw furniture on the floor to try and stop you, but I tripped and fell down on some of the furniture. Then you forced me back into the bedroom. I once again tried to escape, but I was tackled and brutalized, that was before you…” Hakkai stopped for a minute and then continued. “Then… you… took me very aggressively …not only that but the whole incident lasted for more than an hour. I kept screaming for you to stop, but every time I did you would just ram into me harder. Eventually I just gave in…” Gojyo reached out to hold Hakkai’s hand but Hakkai jerked it out of the way. “Please do not touch me Gojyo.” Gojyo pulled his hand back to his sides. “Hakkai, look…you know I would never hurt you intentionally…” “Gojyo! Please stop it.” Interrupted Hakkai. “Even if there is any truth to your story, you can’t prove it. The deed has already been done, all is left now is to try and heal. You can’t take back what you did to me.” Hakkai looked at Gojyo two tears on the corner of his eyes. Gojyo sighed, tears starting to fall down his own cheeks, “Okay, Hakkai. Please just know that I had always sworn to myself that I would never take someone against their will. And here I took my own best friend. I’m really sorry Hakkai!” Hakkai looked down, “right now I can’t forgive you, the desecration of my body isn’t something I can just forgive.” Gojyo wiped his face, “Okay Hakkai, whenever you are ready to forgive.”
