Suspicion
Another night.
I\'ve brought some take-out curry and we\'re once again here on my sofa, the TV is on and we\'re eating in silence.
A rare moment of peace.
No email, no phonecalls, Gyroman is idle in my PET, and most importantly Gauss Magnets is nowhere to be seen.
You really have no idea how nerve-wrecking a father-in-law can be before you find one in your livingroom in drag.
"Ne... Charlie..."
"Hmm?"
"What did you do today?"
Her question catches me off guard. Since when has she been interested in what I\'ve been up to when I\'m not with her? I can\'t make out whether her tone was accusing or not but my relaxed state is definitely gone. She peers at me from under her thick black lashes and her eyes give out nothing.
Could it be that she knows? No way, it\'s not possible. Right?
"Nothing much. Bought some parts for the heli and did a few repairments."
"Oh."
And just like that, she picks up her chop sticks and continues eating.
That\'s it? "Oh"?? I don\'t even realize I forgot to breathe before I start coughing.
"Easy, Charlie. Didn\'t you mother teach you to chew your food properly?"
Ever heard the saying "opportunity makes a thief"?
Well, I can tell you it\'s true. The thing is that I met these two girls today. Tanned, stylishly dressed beach-creatures on high heels, the kind of easy-going type I seem to attract. We talked, they laughed at my jokes and begged me to take them for a flight on my heli. Heck, how was I suppose to say no?
So I did.
It was fun, the most fun I\'d had in a while. They screamed in excitement, giggled and climbed on their knees on the passenger seat to peer out of the window, flashing their pastel colored panties to me. I know I shouldn\'t have and I feel filthy for it, but I enjoyed every minute.
It was just harmless fun and totally okay... untill I kissed that girl.
I swear I didn\'t mean to, but when she was there leaning closer to me, her moist lips curved in a teasing smile, it just happened before I could even realize what I was doing.
"Charlie, are you even listening to me?"
"Huh, what?"
She sighs. "I said you look a little pale. Is something wrong?" For my utter surprise, she smiles. In a way I\'ve never seen her smile before. I like it, but at the same time it makes me very nervous. Now that I\'m fully aware of my surroundings again, I notice that she\'s set her food down and turned the TV off.
