Part One
Snow falls and collects on the ground around me. My breath comes out in puffs of smoke. The barrier I have around myself stops snow from falling on me.
“Nagi-kun!” I turn around and see Tot running towards me.
“Tot.” She hugs my arm and we walk off down the sidewalk.
After the fall into the sea, I left Schwarz. It was far too complicated. And there was Tot. She had survived the attack from Farfarello. When I came to that night, I jump started her heart with my Talent. I told her to wait for me where we first met. When the mess with the Elders was done, I would meet up with her and we’d start our lives over again. In the fall to the sea, I didn’t cover Schwarz. I wanted them dead. I didn’t know how to leave them otherwise.
I suppose I’m lucky the building collapsed. If I had thought and formed a plan in my mind, Crawford would have seen it and stopped me. It was last minute thing. And it worked. I created a strong barrier around myself and left unscathed. I all but ran to where Tot was. We left Japan as soon as we could.
We decided to go to Canada. Toronto was a busy place and we got jobs easily. I’m at a computer company, creating software and she volunteers at an orphanage. After I told her how I grew up, she insisted. We live in a small apartment but it’s enough. I make enough money to afford something better but we both prefer to save as much as we can.
I listen to the music from my earpieces as it deafens me to everything. I prefer not to hear the perky squawks of school girls, the boring rumble of businessmen, the snickering of teenage boys...it’s meaningless. One of the businessmen has glasses. I stare at him from the corner of my eye. I find myself thinking of Crawford more and more as time seems to pass. It’s been several months.
He was a mistake. A major complication in my simple life. It started out with him making small gestures. At first, I thought he was teasing me, then I thought he wanted me for some reason, then he pushed me towards Tot. He was a very confusing man. I’m glad he’s gone.
I become startled at my expression. Why was a frowning after I thought that?
***
I sigh and unlock the apartment door. The strong smell of blood hits me instantly. My eyes go wide as I run into the living room. I freeze in my steps.
There’s blood splattered almost everywhere. Tot’s dead body continues to bleed out. I glance up from her body to the man, with small amounts of blood on his suit, gun now tucked into his jacket. His honey eyes are calm behind his glasses. He neatly steps over her body and closer to me. I take those steps back. Eventually, I hit a wall and he rests his hands on either side of my head.
“You’re...you’re alive.”
“As opposed to?” He lifts an eyebrow at me and his mouth tugs into a smirk.
“But...you’re supposed to be dead.”
“Oh?” One of his hands goes to my throat and he pulls me from the wall turning me to face Tot’s lifeless body. He holds me against his front, hand still on my neck. “Shall we compare the two concepts of life and death?” His breath at my ear causes me to shiver slightly.
“If you want revenge then kill me and get it over with.”
“Revenge? For what?”
“For killing Schwarz.”
“Schwarz isn’t dead. Schuldich and Farfarello were expendable. Telepath’s go mad at a young age. Schuldich was only going to live for another month at best. Farfarello is Talentless. There are plenty of psychopaths to be used in this world. They made Schwarz weak. You have done me a favour. I’ve come to repay that favour.”
He turns my head and presses his lips to mine.
If I would have known that things were going to turn out like this...would I have accepted Schuldich’s invitation into Schwarz?
As a tongue slides into my mouth to meet mine, I think...of course.
He saw me in Schwarz. I’m sure they would have taken me, kicking and screaming, either way. The hand that has moved up under my jacket and shirt prove that.
I almost wish I didn’t have the choice. Because now, there’s no one to blame but myself for the complete decay of my simple life.
Actually...that’s wrong.
My life was never simple. The second Brad Crawford was born, it was anything but simple.

I really loved writing this even though it's short and stuff. It was fun. XD Anywho...I hope you guys loved this weirdness! XD
