It Blooms

Yutaka listened as the phone line rang once. Twice. Three times a voicemail. He let out a silent string of curses as he heard Koushiro tell him for the third time that day to leave a message after the beep. After the beep Yutaka started. “Hey Koushiro, it’s Yutaka again. I know I’ve called you a couple times already today, but that just shows how serious this is. I guess you avoiding my calls also show how serious this is too, but it doesn’t sound as nice. Just give me a call will you. We need to talk. Once again, this is Yutaka. Bye”

Yutaka hung up his phone and then began to strangle it. “God Damn it Koushiro!” He looked down at his hands, and then let out a large breath as he realized just how silly he looked. Yutaka then went and sat down in his chair, making sure to keep his phone in his hand. As he stared at his phone, waiting for it to ring, he began to think back to how things came to be.

After kissing Koushiro the day before in Yamato’s apartment things didn’t go so well. All though Koushiro clearly enjoyed the kiss and caused it to go even further than Yutaka expected, he also clearly panicked as well. Not long after kiss, once Koushiro had caught his breath, Koushiro stood up and excused himself from the room. Yutaka didn’t think much of it until he heard the front door close and that’s when he knew things were definitely wrong. Even though he rushed to the door to talk with his friend, by the time Yutaka reached the door and looked out, the elevator doors were closed, and the small metal box had began moving.
Thus putting the computer genius out of reach.

So Yutaka had tried calling his friend a couple times the night of the kiss, and had called three times the next day. Yutaka soon found himself whacking his forehead with a fist to punish his own stupidity. “Why the hell did you have to kiss him Yutaka?” Yutaka asked aloud. And so Yutaka continued to sit in his chair waiting for his phone to ring, but now he was accompanied by a familiar friend as of late, a headache.

Another day passed and still no word from Koushiro. Yutaka tried calling again, only to get a voicemail again. Half a week later Yutaka changed what he was talking to Koushiro’s voicemail about. It went from wanting to discuss what had happened to simply wanting to talk and hang out. “Hey Koushiro, It’s Yutaka. There’s another LAN tournament coming up, and since you got Akira addicted to it, he wants to know if you would like to join our little team. Well just call and let me know. Later.”

After a week of nerves and headaches Yutaka was relieved when he finally got a way to get rid of the bad mojo he had been hoarding. After months of no band practice, Yutaka now was overjoyed when Yamato told him they were starting up again. Even though he had continued to practice throughout the few dead months, he had forgotten what a wonderful stress relief it was. Not only to be pounding out a beat on the drums, but to be making great music with great people. Having practice also allowed him to seek help from someone he had been helping a lot as of late. So one day after practice, and on the walk home through a park, Yutaka finally asked for help.

“I don’t know what I should do Yamato?” Yutaka asked from the top of a large climbing frame.

Yamato who was safely on the ground responded, “That’s obvious, you’re asking me for help”.

“Hey, I make the smart witty comments around here.” Yutaka shouted back, “Now can we get on to the actual help here?”

“Sure, but let me ask you one thing first.” Yamato said.

Yutaka let out a sigh, “Sure. What is it?”

“Why did you do it in the first place?”

Yutaka wrapped his legs around a bar and let himself swing upside down, putting him slightly above Yamato’s eye level. He then shrugged his shoulders and said “I don’t know. I at first I was just trying to get him and Mimi to shut up, that and I thought it would be kind of funny.”

Yamato understood wanting Mimi to be quiet, he knew all too well just how much that girl could talk. And after spending years with the rather eccentric drummer he knew just how odd a sense of humor he had. But he still had to ask, “But then what happened?”

Yutaka folded his arms, “Well then he started to kiss back, and things changed. Things got sort of confusing, and heated. And before I knew it, I broke the kiss and Koushiro was out the door.”

“What were you thinking?” Yamato asked.

Yutaka couldn’t tell if the tone in Yamato voice was anger, disappointment or confusion. “I don’t know. I clearly wasn’t.”

“Well that’s obvious.” Yamato retorted.

“Hey! Not helping here. If I want to feel bad about my fuck up, I sure as hell don’t need your help to do it. I’m asking you for help, not insults.” Yutaka shouted.

Yamato looked up at his friend, “Sorry. How can I help?”

“I don’t know. Maybe you could talk to him for me. Tell him that it was all just a joke. Tell him to call me. Just tell him whatever he wants to hear, so he’ll talk to me again.”

Yamato reached up and pinched Yutaka’s reddening cheeks. “Aw. Lil Yutaka is really smitten with him, isn’t he?”

Yutaka pushed Yamato away the best he could and then pulled himself upright, before dropping down to the ground. “Will you talk to him for me or not?”

Yamato stepped closer to Yutaka and patted him on the back. “Of course I will. But you need to stick you landing better or else you’ll never win that gold medal.”

Yutaka gave a slight chuckle, “What are you talking about? I could beat a little Bulgarian girl easily, besides I couldn’t have stuck it better if I landed in a vat of glue.”

Yamato laughed alongside his friend as they walked out of the empty park and onto the dark streets.

It had been a few days since Yutaka had asked Yamato for help, but still Yutaka’s phone did not ring. With his mind still dealing with how such a bone head move had screwed up a great friendship, he couldn’t really devote it to much else besides band practice. So he soon found himself sitting in front of a several blank pieces of paper that needed to be filled with writing for an essay that was due in a couple days. But he knew that his mind was preoccupied, so he decided to clear his mind. He grabbed his keys and headed for the door. He opened the door and there stood the man that was creating the mental traffic jam in his
head. “Koushiro what are you doing here?” Yutaka asked surprised.

“I was here to return your shirt.” Koushiro said, he pointed to a bag hanging off the doorknob.

“Oh thanks.” Yutaka answered as he grabbed the bag. “Want to come in. I could
make some tea or something.”

“Sounds great.” Koushiro said.

Yutaka and Koushiro walked to the cozy kitchen where Yutaka began to make them a couple cups of tea. Yutaka filled up a small tea pot and put it on a burner. He then turned to Koushiro. “So how have you been?”

“Indifferent really.” Koushiro answered. There was a short awkward pause before he continued, “Sorry I haven’t been returning your calls. I had a large project for a class I had to work on, so I haven’t talked to much of anyone for almost two weeks. Even when I did check my messages, I didn’t really have time to return calls. But your right Yutaka, we do need to talk.”

Yutaka looked at his friend and then down at his feet. “So, about that night. When I kissed you things… it was all of a sudden… just in a flash…You know how I can…” Yutaka continued to stammer on.

“Yutaka?” Koushiro called.

Yutaka looked up just in time to see a flash of red and green move towards him. He felt the contact on his lips, the contact of a mouth full of teeth moving too fast and colliding with his lips. The kiss started rough and awkward, showing Koushiro’s lack of experience. But Yutaka still felt the warmth that spread from his lips and throughout his whole body. He felt the pleasure stem from the pain of Koushiro crashing their lips together. Yutaka began to feel himself get lost in the kiss, and although his eyes had been shocked open by the surprise kiss, he now found them pleasantly closed.

That is until the reality of the situation came crashing into Yutaka’s mind. He broke the kiss. “Koushiro wait. How is it again that when I kiss you as a sort of joke you freak out, but now you can just barge in here and lay one on me. I mean, just because things…”

“Yutaka.” Koushiro interrupted.

“Yeah?”

“Shut up.” Koushiro said before latching his lips to Yutaka’s once more. The lips moved over each other spreading the passion that was in the kiss all around.
Yutaka was about to open to his mouth to try and dominate Koushiro for a second time when he felt it. A pain unlike any he had ever felt before.

Yutaka suddenly broke the kiss and screamed out in pain. Koushiro didn’t need to ask what was the matter was, as the loud whistling noise from the tea kettle behind Yutaka explained everything. Koushiro took the tea kettle off the burner and set it aside, and when he returned his focus on Yutaka once more he saw the drummer busy trying to take off his tight and slightly wet shirt. Koushiro gave out a slight chuckle.

As Yutaka struggled to get his head out of the hole he asked, “What’s so funny?”

“You had it planned all along didn’t you? All that so you could get out of your shirt.” Koushiro explained.

“Right cause first degree burns are always so sexy.” Yutaka remarked with a grin.

“They are on you.” Koushiro answered.

Yutaka chuckled as he successfully pulled his shirt off. “When the hell did you become so damn cheesy?”

“I spend too much time around you. You’re really rubbing off on me.” Koushiro answered.

Yutaka began to laugh loudly. “Kinda kinky too.”

Koushiro looked at his friend with a confused look on his face. “What?”

Yutaka tussled the red and green hair of his friend. “Nevermind, you of a purer mind. Now how about that tea?”

“Sounds good but first.” Koushiro said before laying his lips on Yutaka’s once more. The kiss started off small and soft, but as time passed the kiss grew deeper and more heated. Yutaka grabbed the back of Koushiro’s head ever so gently to add more pressure to the kiss. Not wanting Yutaka to be the only one using his hands, the computer whiz wrapped his hands around the back of the drummer. The drummer jumped slightly breaking the kiss and winced.

Koushiro suddenly realized what he had done, “Sorry, sorry Yutaka. I am so sorry. Are you okay?”

Yutaka gritted his teeth, “Never better, how about yourself?”

“I don’t know. I’ve never really ever done or felt anything like this before.” Was Koushiro’s reply.

“To quote a great song, 'baby you ain’t seen nothin’ yet'.” Yutaka sang out, then played a few strums on the air guitar and winked at his new boyfriend.

Author's Note: There you go, second chapter is up. I think just short chapters like this will be the standard for this story. I intend to just show short snip-its like this for know. Just to get the ideas out of my head and into the public. That and to allow me to continue the main story with out ruining the suprises for this story. Although knowing me, some future chapters may tend to be a little longer than this. As usual, please rate the story, and if you have time leave a review.
