Don't Give Up

So yeah this is the second chapter I am posting up today. Yay!

This is Ryuichi x Tohma with some side pairings.

So in the last chapter Ryuichi pretty much told Tohma that unless Tohma shows he wants him, then it ends that night. He won't stay to let Tohma carry on the way he has been and staying in a relationship that seems to be one-sided. So if Tohma wants him he is going to have to prove it.

Warnings for this chapter include: mentions of tohma/mika, sadness, and I think that is it. If I forgot something then please let me know and I shall edit.

The song used in this chapter is "Whataya want from me", by Adam Lambert. I do not own the song or Adam Lambert or anything involving him and the song. I make NO money off this fanfiction.

Tohma looked at Shuichi before Ryuichi came back stage. "I have to sing that song. I don't think I am ready for it and I am in no way an accomplished vocalist and it probably wont do anything to appease Ryuichi, but the chorus might show him some of my feelings."

Shuichi looked at Tohma. "Are you sure you can handle this? Performing it live in front of lots of people when you, yourself are not a vocalist, Mr. Seguchi?", Shuichi asked. He had been helping Tohma with singing for the past three weeks so that Tohma could try and tell Ryuichi how he felt and what was going on through his mind.

Tohma nodded. "I will be fine Mr. Shindou. I can do this for Ryuichi.", he said with a look of determination in his eyes, that did not falter when Ryuichi passed him with that icy look.

Shuichi smiled. "Well good luck.", he said and then went to go announce it. "Hello everyone! That was such a great song from Ryuichi. Now we have a special little treat for all of you. This next song will be for someone to explain how their mind is working at the moment. They hope the lyrics will reach that person. Enjoy!", Shuichi said and all the lights in the place went out but no one panicked.

In the darkness, Tohma's instrument was pushed out on the stage followed by Tohma having been fitted with a microphone that hook around his ear and allowed him to sing and play at the same time. He closed his eyes and started to play as light blue light shone down on him. He seriously hoped he didn't mess this up. It would be humiliating if he did, but this was for Ryuichi. He opened his mouth and started to sing the words.

Hey, slow it down
Whataya want from me
Whataya want from me
Yeah, I'm afraid
Whataya want from me
Whataya want from me

Tohma thought about when he and Ryuichi first got together. He had was actually happy and yet he didn't want to hurt Mika or give up on his promise to Eiri. He had wanted it to be a secret relationship and Ryuichi had agreed only because he said he loved Tohma. He remembered smiling and telling Ryuichi thank you. He had only done that because he had to admit he was a bit scared of changing things.

There might have been a time
When I would give myself away
(Ooh) Once upon a time
I didn't give a damn
But now here we are
So whataya want from me
Whataya want from me

How was he supposed to know he would fall for Ryuichi as hard as he did? How was he supposed to know that his older habits would be the hardest to break? His whole felt as though it was being flipped upside down. He couldn't figure out if he wanted more with Ryuichi or if he should just be content with what he knew.

Just don't give up
I'm workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up, need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around
Hey, whataya want from me
Whataya want from me

However, he knew Ryuichi had his limits. He just hoped that Ryuichi had loved him enough to want to work through everything. He had tried to work through everything, but he would never admit he couldn't do it alone. He knew he couldn't have them both. Mr. Shindou could handle Eiri and Mika would be fine, so why was this so hard on him. Why didn't he just say goodbye to Mika and go with the one who made truly happy?

Yeah, it's plain to see
That baby you're beautiful
And it's nothing wrong with you
It's me, I'm a freak
But thanks for lovin' me
Cause you're doing it perfectly

Ryuichi never complained about anything. There were things Tohma knew wouldn't sit well with most people however Ryuichi just made sure he was happy. He told Ryuichi he loved him frequently and yet he couldn't seem to make it so he only belonged to the green haired vocalist. Was living contently better than being happy? Hell even Eiri had moved passed just living day to day and found happiness with Mr. Shindou.

There might have been a time
When I would let you step away
I wouldn't even try but I think
You could save my life

After hearing that song Ryuichi sang before this, he knew he didn't have much time to save what they had. He wouldn't let Ryuichi go. He would rather tell Eiri to go to hell than to leave someone who had finally made him feel as though he could be himself with no masks and no barriers as he started pouring more emotion into his voice.

Just don't give up
I'm workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up, need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around
Hey, whataya want from me
Whataya want from me

He started the singing the chorus of the song again look over at Ryuichi, who happened to be watching his performance. His eyes were almost pleading for Ryuichi to see that he loved him. They were begging Ryuichi to realize that he was in fact his most precious person. This was more emotion than he had shown in a long long time.

Just don't give up on me
I won't let you down
No, I won't let you down

He looked down at his keyboards as he continued to sing and play. He managed to come to a part of the song where he had a moment to take his trademark hat off and throw it into the crowd. He could care less about it. He threw away the hat to show more of his emotions. To most it wouldn't mean much, but to those who knew him it meant he did that to show a slightly more vulnerable to Tohma.

So
Just don't give up
I'm workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up, need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around
Hey, whataya want from me

His hands moved masterfully over the keyboard playing the music for the entire song on his own. His body moving only a bit with the beat of the song as he played. He was completely in the music, completely filled with thoughts of not wanting to lose Ryuichi.

Just don't give up
I'm workin' it out
Please don't give in
I won't let you down
It messed me up, need a second to breathe
Just keep coming around
Hey, whataya want from me
(Whataya want from me)
Whataya want from me
Whataya want from me

That last bit of the song Tohma sang with everything he had as he played. He looked up at the crowd who got to see some tears sliding down Tohma's face. His bright eyes shimmering with the tears that he hadn't yet shed. He looked at Ryuichi still singing the end of the song before looking back at the crowd. He played the last few bars of the song and the moment he had finished he spoke one more sentence. "Please give me one more chance Ryuichi." His words causing a collective gasp through the audience before they burst out in rounds of applause.

Shuichi smiled yelling with the crowd and saying how he knew Tohma could do it. Both bands Bad Luck and Nittle Grasper were applauding Tohma for his performance including Ryuichi would was clapping as he walked out on stage with a serious look to his face. Tohma held his breath watching as Ryuichi walked towards him. Spotlights were shining on both of them. The moment Ryuichi got close to him the vocalist stopped still very serious in his expression. Tohma looked at Ryuichi not knowing what to expect.

Ryuichi leaned over to speak into the microphone attached to Tohma's head. "One more chance Tohma. If you mess up after this, you'd better be prepared to move heaven and hell for even the tiniest hope of getting me back.", he said seriously.

Then in front of all the combined fans of Nittle Grasper and Bad Luck, on live TV everywhere, in front of Tatsuha, Eiri, and Tohma's unsuspecting wife Mika...Ryuichi kissed Tohma.

****

Another chapter done. Let me know what you guys think. Sexy Tohma singing...*smiles* I can die happy, but I need to finish the fic...more to come soon.
