The Calm
Chapter 20: Concerns

Spike ran quickly, dodging the bullets that rained down upon him. Sith was crouching behind a partition, standing only to send out a flying blade into their opponents. Vicious crouched behind a pillar as Eve lay beside him, her shoulder badly shot up. Spike slid to her side as he shot off a few rounds.

“She alright?” he asked the silver haired man beside him.

“No.”

“She going to be?” Spike asked.

“Maybe, if we all live,” Vicious answered.

“Ever the optimist, eh?” Spike joked as he turned to the bleeding woman between them. “Eve… Eve, you awake?”

Eve shot the brown eyed male a glare. “I’m in pain and there’s a battle going on, of course I am you idiot!”

“We may have a problem,” a deadpan voice stated from the shadows.

All turned to see Sith standing before them, her side bleeding and a few scratches on her arms. Spike grunted as he caught the red haired assassin and propped her next to Eve. Vicious shot her a momentarily concern look before returning fire.

“We have to get out of here, Vicious!” Spike shouted.

“No way,” Eve growled as she lifted herself to her feet, her eyes now silver. Spike gasped and watched, dumbfounded, as she grabbed a pistol and a grenade and began taking out the rival syndicate members before releasing the pin and lobbing it into the room. “Now, we can leave,” she said as her eyes rolled into her head and she slumped forward, into Spike’s arms.

She sighed softly as she gazed out the fogged window onto the city below. Vicious, Spike and Sith all lay in her bed, sleeping. Sith had maneuvered herself into Vicious’ arms while Spike groped for Eve’s body in his sleep. Eve turned to him as he whimpered out her name. She then smiled softly and walked over to him, crawling next to him in the sheets, letting him feel her up before moving closer and slipping deeper into slumber.

She sighed and petted the mossy haired man’s head gently as she noticed Sith and Vicious moving closer to her as well. It was as though they knew she had returned. She snorted softly and let herself slowly drift into sleep with her companions.

Rain dashed to the side, sending the bounty head to Spike and Faye. “Now!” she shouted.

Spike nodded and let out a few shots, sending the bounty head Faye’s right hook, launching him into the ground. Rain smiled as she watched Faye and Spike grin triumphantly and begin to cuff their newest meal ticket.

“That was fun,” Rain said as she approached the others.

“You moved so fast, I almost didn’t see it,” Faye marveled.

“Old training, especially since fluffy here was shooting,” Rain teased.

Spike scowled at Rain’s pet name and snorted. “Hn!”

Rain laughed as Faye started calling him fluffy and teasing him like a little kid would as Spike swatted at her, before they began to wrestle playfully like puppies and fell to the pavement, laughing.

Rain shook her head. “Children, you’re just children.”

Spike smirked as he grabbed her ankle and pulled her down as well. “You think you getting out of this so easy?”

Amaya gasped as she awoke. She had been sleeping, the voice within that she dared not speak its name, was silent. She wiped away the dried tears on her face and glanced about the room. Someone was there, and it wasn’t the crimson haired woman beside her. She glanced about, noticing that her guitar was out on a chair, where she had not put it.

“Hey, luv, miss me?” a deep voice asked as James stepped out into the pale moonlit window.

Amaya gasped. “Holy shit!”

“Nice to see you too. You know, I should be mad at you, but I’m not,” he said as he took a seat at the edge of the bed.

“Why not?”

“Because I know it wasn’t you.”

Amaya was speechless.

“You’re eyes… they were silver, not grey, like they should be. I also ‘erd ‘n interesting bit of news lately, ‘erd you were pregnant. Needed to know the truth, luv.”

Amaya nodded. “I am… pregnant. It’s yours too.”

James grinned. “Figured that. Now… about this thing inside you… I’m all for threesomes, but not with something that wants to slit my throat and abort our kid.”

Amaya seemed shocked. “You… overherd?”

“Yeah, Sith is one freaky chick, I tell you, but she was right, you can beat this.”

Amaya shuddered and shook her head. “I wish I knew for sure.”

James grinned again, this time his eyes shining with hidden knowledge. “I’m ‘ere, remember that, luv. Not to mention you got Sith and the bit to take care of you.”

“You aren’t staying?” Amaya asked.

“No, got things to do. Just remember that I’ll be around,” he said as he stood and melted into the shadows.

Amaya snorted. ‘Sometimes he and Sith are way too similar.’
