Moon and Stars

Rei wasn’t sure what to do next. She had to tell somebody, she just had to, but she wasn’t sure who. Normally, she wouldn’t have even thought about it, and called Usagi the instant Yuuichirou left her room. But Rei wasn’t sure Usagi was quite ready for sharing information like this. Maybe once she figured out what to do about Seiya, but now? Other than Usagi, Rei was closest with Ami; they saw each other nearly everyday, often meeting somewhere on campus to eat lunch together. But Ami wasn’t exactly the first person one wanted to tell when they’d had sex for the first time. She was so shy and reserved; it would almost be mean to tell her first. So, sighing, Rei decided she might as well fulfill an old promise. She picked up the phone and dialed Minako’s number.

Unsurprisingly, Minako had been the first to exit the virgin club, and when she’d dreamily recounted the experience to them, she demanded that the other girls promise to tell her right away after their first time. She didn’t care if she was their first call, as long as her call followed soon after. Minako answered after a few rings, and Rei struggled to figure out how to approach the topic. In the end she just blurted it out, clamping her hand over her mouth to try and stifle her giggles afterward.

“You WHAT?! Oh, Rei, congratulations! I always knew Yuuichirou would be your first.” Minako was easily matching Rei’s high pitched giggles.

“Oh, yeah, what gave you that idea? I didn’t even know.”

“Silly, with the way he looks at you, it was only a matter of time before the poor boy jumped you. Is that what happened? Tell me!!!”

Rei spent the next half hour recounting the events leading up to Yuuichirou ending up in her bed, naked, and blushingly admitted to a few details after that, but vehemently refused to give Minako a full description, though the blonde begged repeatedly. As they hung up, Rei wondered if she should have asked Minako to keep the information to herself; not that it would probably do much good anyway.

Sure enough, the next day, Minako’s car pulled up in front of the temple and she and the three other scouts piled out toting bags of snacks (and some homework, in Ami’s case). As they settled into her room, Rei kept flashing her eyes back to Usagi, trying to determine if she was upset by the news, but the thin blonde just kept winking and laughing at the jet haired girl.

“Honestly, Raven, I always thought Makoto would be the next to go.” Usagi leaned into Minako’s side as both blondes began laughing loudly at the expression on the brunette’s face.

“Me?! Wha…why?” Her face was bright red and she threw a pillow at the hysterical girls across from her.

“Oh, come on, Mako-chan, you can’t tell me Motoki isn’t interested?” Minako laughed.

“Not that it’s any of your business, but we aren’t even technically dating.” It was immediately obvious that this was upsetting Makoto, and the mood instantly sobered. Minako put her arm around the brunette.

“Why not? What’s his problem?”

“I don’t know. He’s just never asked me.”

“I think I’m going to need to have a little chat with my old friend, Motoki.” Usagi mused out loud. “After all, I don’t think I’ve seen him in awhile.”

“I agree. Maybe we should go together.” Minako winked at her twin.

“Oh, girls, no, don’t. I don’t want him to think that I put you up to it. Just forget about it. It’s no big deal.” The brunette’s green eyes were wide as she tried to back pedal out of the situation.

“Okay, whatever you say, Mako-chan.” Minako winked at Usagi slyly so that Makoto couldn’t see. “Now, I think it’s time we turned out attention back to the newly christened woman in our midst.”

They spent the rest of the afternoon talking and laughing. After a while, even Ami loosened up enough to tease Rei about her encounter, remarking that she always knew Rei was a temptress, which earned her a deep blush. Though it hurt a little to be reminded that she had never gotten to have that experience with Mamoru, Usagi was happy for her friend that she had finally moved forward in her relationship with Yuuichirou. As they were getting ready to leave, Usagi was the last in the room and she hugged Rei tightly, whispering in her ear.

“I’m really happy for you, Rei. I know you’ve liked him for a long time.” She squeezed her tight and pulled back to look her in the eye. “Now don’t screw it up!” Rei laughed and hugged the blonde once more.

“I can’t promise anything; you know what a goof he is.”

Usagi laughed and waved as she ran out to the car where her other friends were waiting. She hoped that the good turn in Rei’s life continued and extended into the lives of all her senshi. And at it would if she had anything to say about it, at least for Makoto.
