The Day After
\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
Takeru stood before Yamato. But not the same Takeru he had seen the night before, with the baggy clothes kissing the girl. No this was his Takeru, the Takeru with tight fitting clothes that showed off his great body. The Takeru that wore hats, no matter the occasion. The Takeru that he was so madly in love with.
“Takeru I miss you. When are you coming back?”
“I don’t know If I ever will Yamato.”
“But why? I love you Takeru, I miss you so much. Every day that goes by without you beside me is torture. You’ve changed so much, your attitude is different, and your style, but the worst part is that you don’t even remember me.”
“I’m sorry Onii-chan but this is just how things turned out. We may never have wanted things to turn out this way but they did. So now the only thing we can do is just get along with our lives. I may not remember anything from when we were together, but you do. So take joy in the time we had together but don’t live there. You need to move on Yamato, continue your life. Live it to the fullest, even if I’m not there beside you to live it with you. You need to move on.”
“But I don’t want to move on. I WANT YOU!” Yamato cried out.
“I’m sorry Yamato, but you can’t.”
“Why can’t I?”
“The only way you can have me is to live in the past. But then you’ll be always be sad, and lonely Yamato. A life I do not wish upon my brother."
“But I’d still have you, your memories.”
“Move on Yamato, if not for you, do it for me. Please. I love you Onii-chan.”
Yamato began to cry, “I love you too Otouto-chan” Yamato then closed his eyes and kissed his brother for the last time. Their warm lips met and communicated so many things, love, passion, sorrow, apologies, and so much more. When the kiss broke Yamato opened his eyes, and he was alone.
///////////////////////////////////////
Yamato awoke with jump, to the sound of a blender running as well as the smell of eggs that came into his bedroom through his open door. However Yamato realized too late about his headache, which was only amplified as it seemed his eyes caught every bit of light in the room. He fell back against his pillow sending another bout of pain through his head. His head felt like someone had cracked it open and puréed his brains. His arms still tingled with the usual pain that he felt in the morning, but there was new pain in his hands. Yamato raised his hands to his eyes and slowly cracked open his eyes, careful not to let much light in.
Yamato looked at his hands and saw various bandages scattered about his hands and a few wrapped fingers with small amounts of dried blood showing through. Yamato closed his eyes and tried to gather his thoughts about the night before. He remembered that he was in a rage about something and had broken a few things. Yamato cracked his eyes open again and looked around his room, and sure enough Yamato could spot a few things missing as well as his bookshelf was bare and the books tossed around the room. But what caused him to go into such a rage? Yamato couldn’t remember.
Yamato tried to think back to earlier the night before, but his stomach was so upset his new goal was to keep himself from running to the bathroom. He also found that the stench of the eggs floating about his eggs only made the task harder. Yamato brain eventually remembered him entering a bar and taking several shots. But Yamato had already surmised that from the way he was feeling. But what he couldn’t figure out was why he was even at the bar, did he even go and chaperon the dance? That’s right the dance. Suddenly short mental pictures flashed through Yamato’s mind, pictures of Takeru dancing and having fun, and eventually having too much fun. Yamato’s stomach gurgled and Yamato leapt out of bed to stumble to the bathroom.
Yamato staggered out of the bathroom and wiped his mouth. He needed something to drink to get the taste of vomit out of his mouth as well as take some pills for his headache, even though that meant going to the source of the egg smell. Yamato made it into the kitchen and saw his roommate was busy cooking food for Hikari. Yamato looked at Hikari but his squinted eyes couldn’t focus well enough to tell if she was smiling at him or glaring at him.
“How are you feeling?” Hikari asked.
Her voice burst through Yamato’s head like a large clap of thunder. “Shity.” He groaned in reply.
Taichi turned to him, “How are your hands?”
Yamato glanced down at his hands, “How did you know?”
“I had to bandage you all up last night, but then again I’m not surprised that you can’t remember. Yutaka told me how much you had drunk before he left and then we figured you went and drank even more afterwards.” Said Taichi.
From Taichi’s tone of voice Yamato knew his best friend was worried about something as well as slightly angry. Yamato just assumed that it was because of his actions from the previous night. “I’m sorry.”
“Oh no, it’s going to take a lot more than just a simple ‘I’m sorry’ to get you out of the hole you dug last night.” Answered Taichi. “Think you could eat something?”
Yamato shook his head and he would have sworn he could feel his brain bashing against the walls of his skull. “No just something to drink.”
Taichi filled a glass with water and handed it to Yamato, who quickly drank it along with the pills he had in his hand. Yamato then slowly made his way back to his bed to sleep off the rest of his hangover.
“So was that all he had to say to you?” asked Yutaka.
“Yeah. I told him that I didn’t feel like I should be the one answering those questions and that his brother would be a better person to ask.” Answered Hikari.
“So did he call him?” asked Mimi.
“I hope he didn’t, Yamato was drunk and really upset last night. I’m sure if Takeru called him it wouldn’t have been pretty.” Taichi said.
“Do you think he would really snap at Takeru if he did call?” asked Sora.
“I’d like to think he wouldn’t. But Yamato hasn’t really been himself for awhile and it sounds like he had enough alcohol to further that.” Reasoned Jyou.
“How do you think Yamato will handle talking to his brother? From what you said Taichi, Yamato isn’t really stable right now. Do you think we should even tell him his brother is trying to get in touch with him, or would that just be rubbing salt into the wound?” asked Sora.
“I don’t know. I didn’t know Yamato was out drinking last night when I told
Takeru to call him. Otherwise I may have told him something else. I just thought that if Yamato talked with him, everything would be better.” Hikari said.
Mimi wanted to reassure her friend,“It will be Hikari. Yamato just needs time to cool down and get rid of his hangover before he tries talking to him.”
“You guys know I don’t like being the pessimist but you guys didn’t see Yamato last night. He was a wreck. He had completely broken down, and from what he asked me, I think if I didn’t get there when I did he may have even tried to have killed himself again.” Said Taichi.
The room became silent as they digested Taichi’s words. But they soon started back up, trying to figure out a way to help their friend.
It was early that night when Yamato woke up again, this time his headache was more of a medium distraction instead of a strong immobilizer. He could hear a few voices coming from somewhere in the apartment. Yamato put on some pajama bottoms and a loose t-shirt and made his way out of his room. As Yamato entered the living room, its occupants became silent and that was a dead giveaway that they had been talking about him.
Yamato looked around the room trying to find a space to sit. Jyou was standing by the tv, while Taichi and Sora were in the chairs, and Mimi, Hikari, Yutaka and a sleeping Koushiro were crammed on the couch. The sight of Koushiro caught Yamato off guard, he had on a tight fitting rock t-shirt and new green streaks of that stood out in their red surroundings, his head was on Yutaka’s shoulder and his hands were wrapped around a full cup of steaming tea. Yamato then noticed that the green steaks in Koushiro’s hair matched that of the recently dyed hair of Yutaka. Sketchy memories about the night before floated into Yamato’s mind. “What happened to him?”
Yutaka smiled, “I was dying my hair this morning and I just couldn’t resist.”
“And the shirt?”
“Accident.” Yutaka said simply.
Yamato looked at Yutaka, trying to read him the best his clouded mind and still slightly blurry vision could. He remembered there was something about those two the night before. “What kind of ‘Accident’?”
“What kind of accident do you think a person with a wicked hangover would have?” answered Yutaka.
Yamato just grunted in response and sat on the arm of the couch. The group of friends sat in silence until Mimi spoke up, “I can’t take it any longer. Yamato, where’s your phone?”
Yamato looked at Mimi, confusion all over his face. “What? My phone? Why?”
Sora leaned over to Mimi and clasped her hands over Mimi’s mouth, “What she meant to ask was, How are you doing?”
Mimi pulled the hands off of her mouth. “No, I want to know if Tak…OW! Don’t pinch me!”
Sora quickly moved her hands away from Mimi and shot her a glare to stay quiet. Mimi stayed quiet mainly because she was trying to pinch Sora back, not because she understood why Sora wanted her to be quiet.
Taichi rolled his eyes and sighed. Yamato looked right at him. “Okay Taichi, I know you know what that’s all about. Now spill.”
“They just want to know about last night, and what you saw and how that has affected you.” Taichi answered.
“How do you guys think I feel?” Yamato responed.
“We’re not sure, that’s why we’re all here.” Jyou answered.
“We’re all worried about you Yamato.” Added Sora.
Yamato shook his head slightly in confusion, “Why are you guys worried about me?”
Taichi looked at his roommate in disbelief, “Look at your hands Yamato.”
Yamato glanced down at his hands. He had forgotten that they were all bandaged up from the previous night. “You guys worry too much. I just got a little angry and broke a couple things. It’s not like I tried to….”
“If you say so Yamato.” Said Taichi. From his tone of voice Yamato knew he was hiding something from him.
Silence returned to the living room for awhile. Some of them fiddled with their nails, or picked at invisible lent on their clothes, or watched the steam waft out of Koushiro’s tea cup.
“What about Takeru?” Asked Sora.
“What about him?” responed Yamato, his voice filled with hurt and spite.
Sora had trouble forming the words she wanted to say, “Is he….are you…..did it….”
Yamato knew what she was trying to ask, “Are we through? What do you think? He doesn’t need me for anything. He was already better off without me and now his life just got better, now he has someone he can actually kiss in public and not worry about ridicule and punishment. I should have just faced facts a long time ago.”
“You’re wrong, Yamato.” Hikari said softly.
“Not this again.” Yamato said as he stood up and began walking out
“You are wrong, He does need you.” Hikari said standing up, her voice raising.
Yamato turned around and lashed out, “How would you know that Hikari? Hmmmm…Takeru hasn’t even talked to you in how long? You’ve been pushed out of his life, just like me remember.”
Hikari just shook off the hurtful comment, “We talked late last night, that’s how I know.”
Yamato eyes focus on Hikari’s, “Oh really, then what did he say?”
“He had a few questions for me, I answered a couple, but the other’s I told him he needed to talk to you about.” Hikari answered.
“So that’s why Mimi wanted to know about my phone?” asked Yamato, Mimi nodded. “Well it doesn’t matter. He’s a smart kid, he’ll figure what ever he wanted to ask me out.”
“But Yamato, you should really hear what….” Hikari began before she got cut off.
“No! I’m done, I’m finished. You guys just don’t understand because it’s not happening to you, but I do. My heart can’t take anymore breaking. I’ve exposed it time and time again, just to have it smashed into smaller and smaller pieces. I don’t know if I could stand having him break it again. So it’s time for me to just forget everything and move on, you all should do the same.” And with that Yamato walked out of the living room back to his room.
Yamato closed his door behind him and plopped onto his bed. His friends really knew how to aggravate him. Yamato closed his eyes and tried to find some peace in sleep. However there was part of his mind nagging him, keeping him awake. Yamato opened his eyes and looked at his cell phone. {Nah, Takeru didn’t call. I haven’t heard the phone go off all day.} Yamato closed his eyes again but then another thought passed through his head, his phone hadn’t gone off all day, which was rather odd. Yamato reopened his eyes and grabbed his cell phone. He looked at it and saw the reason why it hadn’t been ringing all day, it was turned off.
{Perhaps Takeru did call} Yamato stared at the phone a while longer. {But then again, it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t need me.} Yamato then placed the cell phone back on his night stand.
Yamato had just been drifting back to sleep when the urge to pick his phone back up arose. He fought it for a few minutes, before he opened his eyes, grabbed the phone, pushed a few buttons and put it up to his ear.
“Oh, just fucking wonderful Yamato. Turn your phone off, real classy…” Shouted Yutaka’s voice.

“ You know what, Fuck you too Yamato. Didn’t want to talk to you anways…”
Screamed Yutaka’s voice.
Delete.
“What, your phone is still off, big shock there….”
Delete.
“You’re a real jerk you know that Yamato!....”

“Listen, I’m sorry Yamato. I really am, so please disregard the previous how many ever messages I’ve left. I’m just wor…..

“Shoot. I should have known you weren’t going to answer, but you told me to call whenever. I guess that’s what I get for listening to someone I don’t know…Shit I didn’t mean it like that…I just…Can I start over? Okay? Well listen. I’ve talked with Hikari about a few things, but she told me that I needed to talk to you. That you would be able to answer a few questions I’ve been having…I really hope you’ll be able to. Anyways give me a call whenever you can. Thanks. Bye.”
Yamato didn’t know for sure what his brother wanted to ask him, but he did know one thing. That from the sound of Takeru’s voice it was something that was seriously bugging him. Yamato laid in bed contemplating of giving his brother a call. After a while he came to a conclusion, he would give him a call. Because after all, what damage could answering a few questions do?
Yamato after dialing his brother number he put the phone back up to his ear. After a few rings it was answered.
“Yamato?” asked a quiet voice on the other end of the line.
“Yeah, you called, so I’m just…”
“Thank god, just a second.” Takeru said. Sounds of the doors opening and closing could be heard. Then the sound of water running could be heard.
“Ummm…Takeru. I can call back if now isn’t a good time.” Yamato said.
“NO!” shouted Takeru. His voice then returned back to normal, “I just had to turn the water on so Mom doesn’t hear that I’m talking to you.”
“Okay Takeru, I’m listening. What do you want to ask me?”
Takeru didn’t put forth his questions, instead he said, “Actually, I thought we could meet and talk in person instead. If that’s okay with you that is.”
Yamato quickly thought about it. He didn’t know if he could handle seeing his brother just then, but he knew that since Takeru was wanting to talk in person then what ever the questions were must be serious. “Sure Takeru, when and where?”
“How fast can you make it to the park by Heighton View Terrace?” Asked Takeru.
There was a knock on the bathroom door. “Takeru honey, don’t waste water. Turn it off if you’re not using it.”
“Thanks Mom. I will.” Takeru shouted, he then whispered into the phone. “So can you meet me or not?”
“Isn’t it kinda late for you to be going out?” Asked Yamato.
“Don’t worry about that. I can sneak out, Mom won’t even notice.” Answered Takeru.
That sealed it, whatever Takeru wanted to ask was important enough to sneak out over. Yamato glanced at his watch, he had missed the bus, but he could always catch a cab. “I’ll be there within 30 minutes.”
“Thanks so much. I’ll see you then.” Takeru then hung up the phone.
Yamato closed his phone and sped over to his closet and pulled out a long sleeve shirt. He quickly tossed it on and moved to his dresser. He paused after opening the first drawer, he had forgotten that that drawer still held all of Takeru’s clothes that had been left. Yamato felt his heart tug as he remembered happier times. He then remembered why he was in such a rush to get dressed and slammed the drawer closed. Not long after Yamato was dressed and heading out of his room.
He paused in the hall way in between the living room and the kitchen. Hikari was busy cooking something while Taichi sat nearby reading from a cookbook. Taichi looked up from the book. “If you’re hungry, dinner will be ready in a bit.”
“Can I take rain check?” Yamato quickly answered.
Taichi blinked a few times, “Why, where are you going?”
“You talked to Takeru didn’t you?” asked Hikari frying some vegetables.
“Yeah, he wants to meet at the park by Heighton View Terrace.” Yamato answered. Taichi and Hikari looked at him. “Yeah I know, I’m wondering why he picked there too.”
“Before you leave, you may want to tell Mimi that you’re going to meet Takeru. It might help out Koushiro and Yutaka.” Hikari said with a smile.
Yamato cocked an eyebrow, “What?”
“You’ll see, they’re in the living room”
Yamato turned around and peeked into the living room, and to be honest he didn’t know why he hadn’t heard what was going on before. Mimi was sitting in one of the chairs talking with Koushiro, while Yutaka had a magazine he was trying to read almost plastered to his face.
“Come on Koushiro just kiss him!” Mimi shouted.
“For the last time Mimi, I’m not gay.” Responded Koushiro with some anger.
“Who said anything about you needing to be gay? It would just be hot!” squealed Mimi.
Koushrio folded his arms, “I’m not going to kiss Yutaka, just for your pleasure Mimi so you can just forget it.”
“So you would kiss him for other reasons? Like what? Your own pleasure?” Mimi teased.
Koushiro’s cheeks grew a little red, but it was hard to tell if it was over anger or embarrassment. “I didn’t say anything like that!”
“But you implied it Koushiro. You practically admitted that you wanted to kiss Yutaka.” Mimi explained.
“I can’t believe I forgot how annoying you can be.” Retorted Koushiro.
Mimi’s eyes filled with rage. “You know what Koushiro, you are still the same scared virginal computer nerd that doesn’t listen to his heart.”
“At least I’m not some spoiled brat that hasn’t had a smart thought since she stopped wearing everything that was that ugly color of pink!” responded Koushiro.
Mimi and Koushiro continued trading insults. Each one growing louder and more and more absurd. That is until Yutaka, who had been sitting there quietly the whole time had had enough. “For crying out loud!” Yutaka shouted as he tossed his magazine down. He then turned to Koushiro and grabbed his head and turned it towards him. Even though he was still trying to shout another insult at Mimi, Yutaka kissed him anyways. As Yutaka placed his lips against that of Koushiro’s, the computer expert shut up.
The harsh words Mimi was about to shout out were now stuck in her throat as her mouth hung open, not believing the sight in front of her. Koushiro soon returned the kiss back to Yutaka, both of their warms lips began moving over and sucking one another. Mimi’s mouth dropped more. What happened next shocked all those involved, even Koushiro himself. Koushiro’s tongue found its way to Yutaka’s lips and was demanding entry. Yutaka opened his mouth and allowed the natural red head entrance to his mouth. However its unchallenged occupation didn’t last long as Yutaka suddenly began pushing the invader back with his tongue.
“Hey Mimi. I’m just letting you know that I’m going to go see Takeru now.” Yamato whispered.
Mimi raised her hand slowly and gave Yamato the slightest of waves goodbye, while never taking her eyes from the two hot guys making out in front of her.
Once Yutaka had claimed dominance over Koushiro’s mouth, he quit the kiss just as quickly as he had started it. Koushiro sat there stunned his cheeks a bright color of red, as he panted and stared at Yutaka. Mimi sat where she was, staring at Yutaka as well, with what appeared to be drool running down her chin. Yutaka gave them both a large smile before grabbing his magazine back up. He then let out a loud pleasurable sigh, “Much better.” He then opened up the magazine and was able to read the rest of his article in peace.

Author's Note: Chapter 23!!!! So I'm going to apologize for how boring this chapter was. I don't know if any of you found it boring, but I did. But this chapter wasn't all dark, in fact it wasn't much of anything until the end.
I don't really recall how the Koushiro & Yutaka kiss came along but it has. And now my mind is trying to figure out if I should just give minor parts to like now. Or if I should just start a little mini spin-off. Anyways, will hopefully have another chapter up with-in a week but we'll see as I will be traveling.
As always try and review if you have time.

Delete.
“ You know what, Fuck you too Yamato. Didn’t want to talk to you anways…”
Screamed Yutaka’s voice.
Delete.
“What, your phone is still off, big shock there….”
Delete.
“You’re a real jerk you know that Yamato!....”
Delete.
“Listen, I’m sorry Yamato. I really am, so please disregard the previous how many ever messages I’ve left. I’m just wor…..
Delete.
