Battle for the Line

Battle for the Line

by SSJ04 Mewtwo

The fleet came out of trans-ether and took a position right on the border of Ctarl space. The five grappler wings took up their positions, followed by the battle cruisers and the carrier ships.

888

"Well, where are they?" Gene asked, annoyed.

"Tactical says they are still in sub-ether," Jim reported.

"Guess we beat them to the party, huh?" Gene asked. Before Jim could reply, the Sith and Rorgans jumped into normal space.

"All ships, attack!" the general said over the trans-ether network.

"Well, you heard the man," Gene said.

"Now going into grappler combat mode," Melfina called.

888

The Sith and Rorgans, thinking they knew enough about the fleet to finally do critical damage to it, were surprised by the upgrades that the fleet had gone through. The armor was better protecting the grappler ships and the battle tactics had improved five fold from the last fight.

The five divisions of grappler ships had one simple goal...punch and move. A grappler ship would fire a missile at a weak point at an enemy ship, disabling her, and move on to the next chip. Once that was done, the larger cruisers would move in on the disabled ship and destroy it with little or no effort.

The Carriers, the most heavily armed of the ships that were in the fleet, would take long range pot shots at the battle cruisers in the enemy fleet.

888

"Sub-ether signal detected...it appears to be more Sith ships," the tactical officer said.

"On screen," the blond Ctarl said. It was hard to see them since the ships in question were black.

"Tactical view and report on those ships," Valeria demanded.

888

"Those are Sith grappler ships...they must have been prototypes when we first fought those things. They got eight grappler arms that can attack eight different enemies all at once. They also have some sort of canon weapon mounted on the top of the ship," Jim relayed.

"Weakness?" Gene asked.

"While the arms and the top half of the ships are heavily protected, the underbelly is the weak point," Jim reported. This data quickly passed through all the other ships in the fleet.

"You two got that?" Gene said to Suzuka and Aisha who both nodded.

"Time to kill some spiders," Aisha growled.

888

"They must have improved upon those ships," the human general said to himself. "Push on through their numbers and destroy the rest of their disabled fleet. We'll need room to fight those things."

888

"Damn...thing's strong!" Gene grunted.

"Shit! That grappler arm is simulating the strength of a Ctarl!" Jim called out.

"Can the armor hold up if they start beating on us with those arms?" Gene grunted, trying to overcome the struggle he was in.

"Don't know...the armor wasn't tested under those type of conditions," Jim replied.

"These bastards are keeping their bellies away from our missiles!" Aisha shouted.

"Aim for where the canon is mounted on their ships. That'll leave them with only their grappler arms to defend themselves with," Jim suggested.

888

"Spiders, they just had to design their fucking ships like spiders," the Ctarl general growled. "Start destroying their heavy cruisers! We need to knock them out so the grappler ships aren't sitting ducks!"

888

The Angel Links ships, along with the other Terran controlled ships, began to fire upon the heavier battle cruisers. The Ctarl ships were only a second behind, followed by the ships that had both crews of Ctarl and humans on them. The carrier ships gave cover fire for the grappler ships that were crippled to dock safely. Seeing that their fleet was being pounding into space dust, the Sith and Rorgans jumped back into sub-ether.

888

"Tactical says they are heading back for Sith and Rorgan controlled territory. They probably thought they would have broken through this time," the human general said.

"I'm getting in contact with my brother, I think it's time to go into enemy territory and bring the fight to them," the Ctarl general growled.

"Agreed. I shall contact my superiors back on Earth."

"You better hope they'll follow us into combat," the Ctarl said and the transmission ended. The human general sighed. It was doubtful that the Federation would start to have a weak stomach, now that they had the Sith and Rorgans on their heels.

888

"Damn, why aren't we going back to Heifong?" Gene complained. Jim bit his lip.

"You don't think they want to go into Sith and Rorgan territory do you? That's uncharted space," Jim said.

"That's exactly what my people would want," Aisha growled.

"Yes, the Ctarl would want to plant their flag on the Sith home world," Suzuka said.

"That would be impossible. Sith's ships' atmosphere is inhospitable to both human and Ctarl alike," Gilliam reported.

"How do you know that?" Gene asked.

"We were so busy analyzing their tactical capabilities that I didn't stop to look at what those guys breathe," Jim reported.

"Oh my, long range sub-ether message coming through," Gilliam said. Immediately, the C3 units picked up the transmission and broadcast it to every ship.

"Attention, all of the other races that aren't apart of the war being currently fought between us and those that are unworthy of life," the voice began.

"Sith or Rorgan?" Gene asked.

"Sith," Aisha growled.

"Do they all sound like demons?" Suzuka asked.

"They are using some sort of voice scrambler to make themselves sound like that," Jim reported.

"We ask that you come to our side of this war and rid the galaxy of the vermin humans and the over aggressive, narcissistic, arrogant, annoying, greedy, animals the Ctarl-Ctarl!" the voice implored.

"Grrr..." Aisha snarled.

"They are trying to bring the other races in on this?" Gene asked with a raised eyebrow.

"The human and Ctarl alliance threatens all of us now. They must be destroyed and their home worlds made into dead hunks of rock!" the voice shouted and the transmission ended.

"Attention all ships, prepare to follow the Sith-Rorgan fleet into their own space," the human general said.

"Uh oh, guess that must pissed off a few people," Gene said.

"Earth and Ctarl probably want this to end now before any of the other alien races decide to jump on in on the side of the Sith and the Rorgans," Suzuka mused. The fleet assembled and jumped into trans-ether. They would pound the enemy fleet into submission.
