Chapter 25: Making a Move
*So are we lost or do we know
Which direction we should go
Sit around and wait for someone to take our hands and lead the way*
It was raining. Torrents of cold water, beating upon her huddled form. After months of battling, she had finally won. Her crimson blood pouring from many wounds on her body as her grey eyes stared out through a curtain of black hair. She’d won. Kaishi was dead, finally dead.
[Flashback]
* Cause every day we\'re getting older
And every day we all get colder
We\'re sick of waiting for our answers
Our answers*
Amaya struggled against the chains that held her, that covered her. Her black wings fluttering against her back as she strained. Her captor laughing as she watched her fight. Kaishi seemed very pleased with herself.
“I told you, they hate you now,” she laughed.
“I don’t care! I’m fucking sick of this! I’m not this weak! Stop making me seem weak!” Amaya screamed.
Kaishi cackled coldly. “But you are weak. You always have been. I’ve always been the strong one.”
Amaya laughed. “That’s what you think. I never needed you. I know that now. I was always stronger without you. I was such a fool.”
“It doesn’t matter anymore. All I need is a few more chains and you’ll be here forever, and I’ll be in control.”
Amaya smiled as she heard the jangle of chains as they loosened. She knew that sound very well. Kaishi’s hold was weakening. “Never.”
* Wake up, wake up, wake up
Yeah I\'m so tired of waiting
Waiting for us to
Wake up, wake up wake up
Yeah I\'m so sick of waiting
For us to make a move*
Kaishi was arrogant. Too arrogant, so much like Eve had been. She’d held so much sway over Eve. Rain hadn’t needed her, kept her locked away. But she wasn’t either. She couldn’t let Kaishi rule, but she couldn’t run away from her either. All she needed was tee hee herself and she could finally do what was needed.
Kaishi laughed. “I think I’ll let you know my plan now. I’ll join Julia, kill her and then I’ll destroy the rest of them. Maybe I’ll let James and Aurora live, but the rest are just too nosy. And I have a score to settle with Sith. I’ll enjoy killing her the most, I think. Make her watch her little family die, maybe even rip that brat from her womb and make her watch it die too. Then she goes.”
Amaya could see her vision turn red. ‘No… not them. She will not touch them! Not with my body! No more! I’m sick of this! This ends now!’ she screamed mentally.
* Are we meant to take the bait
Should we sit around and wait
Are we being saved, or was that another lie you made to make us hate*
Kaishi smiled sadistically at Amaya’s burning rage. “Oh, yes, that will be a sweet experience.”
Amaya felt a cruel smile cross her own face as she felt the chains slacken and she slipped free. “You forget, Kaishi.”
Kaishi locked her silver gaze with Amaya’s grey. “What?”
“You forget that a villain should never reveal their plans to their nemesis. Especially when the nemesis is just making time.”
“Making time?”
Amaya stood, chains falling from her nude form like free water, dissolving as they hit the ground. Her feathered wings unfolding to their full span, a defiant look in Amaya’s eyes. “This ends, now!”
* Cause every day we\'re getting older
And every day we all get colder
We\'re sick of waiting for our answers
Our answers*
Kaishi gasped as Amaya leapt forward, her grey eyes burning with rage as she grasped her by her dark throat and hefted her into the air. She struggled at her steel-like grip as she stared into the once again strong woman before her. Her webbed wings fluttering in panic as she kicked out. Amaya laughed, filled with her rage and power. Kaishi whimpered. She was losing against this supposedly weak woman.
“You see, Kaishi, I let you make me weak. The truth is, I was just afraid. Now, I have nothing to lose. I will stop Julia, I will save James, and return him to his only family, his sister. And you will go away, you will never be here… never again!” she punctuated with a tightening of her fingers.
Kaishi whimpered again as she went limp in the other woman’s hand. “I just… I thought-“
“You weren’t human to begin with, Kaishi, you’d never survive out there. Just come back to me.”
Kaishi froze. “C-come back? You mean that? No more chains?” she asked, her voice like that of a child.
Amaya nodded. “I’m not Rain. I’m not Eve. I’m Amaya, and you’re a part of me. Not a protector or something to hide from. You’re me, the dark side of me. I’m not pure, I know that. I can never be. I’m grey.”
Kaishi nodded and sighed as Amaya lowered her to the ground. She then opened her arms and let the darker version of herself embrace her. She felt warm as Kaishi faded, her body melting into hers. She was finally repaired. No longer broken.
* Wake up, wake up, wake up
Yeah I\'m so tired of waiting
Waiting for us to
Wake up, wake up wake up
Yeah I\'m so sick of waiting
For us to make a move*
[End Flashback]
Amaya stared out at the world before her, for the first time as a whole being. Her eyes not soft grey, but not silver either. They were her real eyes, a steely, blue-grey color. She stood, a slight grin on her face as she touched her flat belly. She’d lost the child, a miscarriage. She sighed heavily. “Just as well… I couldn’t take the time to have it. I’m surprised I conceived at all. My body’s been through so much,” she mumbled to herself.
“Talkin’ to ‘ourself? You are way too much like Sith,” a familiar voice said.
Amaya spun around, her eyes wide. There he was, battered and bleeding before her. His blonde hair matted with blood, old and new. His cerulean orbs showing such pain and yet happiness. “Oh my god.”
“’Scaped, while the bint was asleep. All I had to do was bypass her guards. A bunch of idjits,” he bragged.
Amaya ran to him and wrapped her arms about his shoulders. “James!” she cried out as she let him fall into her embrace.
* Wake up, wake up, wake up
Yeah I\'m so tired of waiting
Waiting for us to
Wake up, wake up wake up
Yeah I\'m so sick of waiting
For us to make a move*
They were both on their knees. Amaya holding him close as he told her everything, tears falling down his face as he confessed everything Julia and her followers had done. She then stiffened as the incident on the Bebop came to mind. ‘Just like Spike,’ she murmured mentally.
* It\'s not enough
To let it work
Where\'s the truth
It\'s all wrong*
She stared out at the alley before her. She could feel them. They’d let him go. SO he would find her, hoping that she’d be to broken to fight back. Had this happened a few months prior, she would have. They were just too late now. She pulled out her pistol, her other arm still holding the man she loved so deeply close. “Don’t move, James.”
James stiffened. “’Knew it. The bastards wanted me to lead them to you. Bollocks!”
Amaya smiled softly. “They underestimate me. They only sent three guys.”
“Only three?” he choked out a laugh.
Amaya nodded and turned to the men in the alley. She then shot them a knowing grin before opening fire on them. She heard two grunts and the sounds of bodies hitting the concrete. She then listened for the third, behind her. She waited for the click of his pistol, before pointing hers behind her body and upside down, shooting off three shots. She grinned as she heard a gasp and the thump of another corpse hitting the earth. “Amateurs.”
*We\'re sick of waiting for our answers
Our answers*
She then holstered the gun and lifted James over her shoulder, helping him to his feet. She then shot him a smile before watching his eyes as they noticed hers. “You’re not broken anymore?”
She nodded. “She’s gone.”
He then looked down at her stomach before leveling his eyes with hers. “And the baby?”
Her eyes took on a sad light. “Miscarriage.”
James shot her a cocky grin. “We’ll try again. After this shit ends and I get you hitched.”
Amaya laughed and shook her head. “That was the stupidest proposal I’ve ever gotten.”
James smiled. “I try.”
Amaya rolled her eyes and started for where she knew at least he’d be accepted. “Let’s go see your sister. She’ll be happy to see you.”
James shot her a questioning look. “Sith can do happy?”
Amaya laughed as they headed off into the night. A strange pair as they headed towards a familiar apartment building.
*Wake up, wake up, wake up
Yeah I\'m so tired of waiting
Waiting for us to
Wake up, wake up wake up
Yeah I\'m so sick of waiting
For us to make a move*
It was nearly dawn when they arrived at the door. Both drenched and dripping onto the carpet of the hallway. Amaya shot a sideways glance to James, only to see that he was asleep. She then mock scowled at the blonde. “Wimp,” she teased.
“’Snot cowardly to not want to watch her yell at you,” he mumbled.
Amaya rolled her eyes and, with a free hand, knocked on the door. “Here goes nothing.”
Silence pervaded the hall, followed by some faint rustling and the click of a lock as the door opened, revealing a rumpled Vicious. His pale eyes widened at the sight of them both, his jaw gaping at them. “Holy shit!” he gasped.
Amaya raised an eyebrow. “I see you’re surprised to see us.”
“We thought you were dead.”
Amaya shrugged. “Nearly. Can we come in?”
Vicious nodded dumbly as he moved from the doorway, letting the wet and limping pair enter. He then helped her place James on the couch. “He looks like crap.”
Amaya snorted. “You would too, had you been through what he has.”
“Spike?” he inquired. She knew what he meant.
“That over the time of a few months.”
Vicious winced slightly. “I see.” He then sobered himself up and stared her in the eyes. “I-“
Amaya put a hand up. “Before you ask, the answers yes. I was the traitor, but it wasn’t completely me there. I don’t care about it anymore.”
Vicious nodded. “She had a boy.”
Amaya smiled. “I knew she would.” She then started for the door.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Take care of him, please. I’ll be back. I just don’t think I’m ready to face her yet. Tell her if she has to, I’ll be at my grave.”
Vicious nodded and watched as Amaya walked out the door.
* Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
It\'s time to make a move
Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Make a move*

Levii: Hence the last we see of Kaishi. I know it seems somewhat unrealistic that after a few months, she decided to change suddenly, but Amaya isn\'t a normal girl, nor was Kaishi as strong as she was made to think. Rage, Bloodlust and Hate, all these things are weak feelings that, if not controlled, can become a whole new kind of monster, as Kaishi demonstrated. But everyone comes to a point when they just say \'I\'m sick of it! I can\'t take it anymore!\' and then they act, changing what they can\'t stand, in Amaya\'s case, Kaishi could no longer be a separate entity to herself. Anyways, it makes sense to me, and I\'m the writer, and that\'s how this story goes, so hah! :P
