The Calm
Chapter 26: Demon at My Side

*You don’t remember me
But I remember you*

It was cold, musty and dirty, but it would do. Her plans would not need rich accommodations, just until she could lose her living Shadow. A plus to being part of Amaya, was that she had access to all of her troves of information. This included being able to sense Sith as well as knowing the fighting styles of all of those she cared about, along with their weaknesses. Something to keep in mind when torturing them to death. For Vicious, it was Aurora and Sith, for Spike, Faye, and vice versa. For Sith… well, she had a multitude of people to use against her. Her unborn, for one, and Aurora, her brother, James, not to mention her beloved Vicious, all were useable. Sith had compensated a great strength in caring for Vicious. He was her true downfall. He had opened that dangerous door called love to her, ultimately giving Kaishi room to destroy her. Oh, she would enjoy herself as she destroyed Sith.

Amaya was now screaming in her head, still strong enough to influence her. Kaishi shook her head slightly, clearing her thoughts. “Don’t worry, that plan is long from now, I may even change my mind,” she said aloud.

Amaya ceased to plead with her for their lives. Her own ultimate weakness. Amaya cared far too much for such imperfect creatures. Only they were perfect, Amaya had just been taken off the path and made human. Sith had practically abandoned the path, the only one she would have dared to respect before he little ‘humanization’. It made her sick. But she was not completely heartless. She was a part of Amaya. She longed for those days when she and Eve were side by side, and Sith was not the imperfect being she is now.

*I lie awake and try so hard
Not to think of you*

[Flashback]

Eve laughed as she danced on the floor with Sith. Sith seemed alien to this world of close, hot bodies and strobing lights. She moved nonetheless, a cat-like creature on the dance floor. Eve’s eyes flashed silver as she eyed their targets and motioned to Sith. Sith nodded and they went into their usual routine, they would slowly make their way over to their sights and then create some sort of arousing distraction, making their targets lose their defenses, before invinting them outside, where’d they kill them.

Eve was grinding against Sith, knowing that she had cought the attention of their targets, with the red haired woman, who was by no means a plain looking girl, wrapped around her, mimicking her moves and changing them to fit her own means. Eve shot a feral smile to Sith, a silver shine in her eyes, before locking lips with the crimson haired assassin. She could faintly hear a purr deep within Sith’s throat as they felt the brush of hands on their shoulders. As they pulled away, Eve winked to her partner and turned to the man behind her.

The game was on.

[End Flashback]

Amaya seemed to enjoy that memory as well, Kaishi grinned. As long as she kept Amaya even partially content, she could rein control. At least, until Amaya was weak enough, then she would take complete control over the woman’s body.

Oh, yes, the game was truly beginning.

*But who can decide what they dream?
And dream I do…*

*I believe iu
Iu
I’ll give up everything just to find you
I have to be with you
To live
To breathe
You’re taking over me*

Amaya clutched her head as she fell into an alley, the fights were getting worse. She had made sure no one could find her, she would truly disappear. That had been simple, she could do that in her sleep. She needed to try to get control over her mind. Kaishi could not be allowed to reign.

She gasped for air, as though choking as she slumped against a wall, her dirty, bruised body sliding down the cool concrete until she hit ground. Her hold was getting weaker, and Julia was homing in on her.

‘We have to stop!’ she screamed mentally. ‘Did you forget Julia?’

‘No, of course not,’ Kaishi said, matter of factly. ‘I just think I should be in control when we kill her.’

It was then that the White Tiger members that had been hunting her, found her.

“Well, well, if it ain’t the big, bad wolf. You don’t look so scary, in fact, you look pitiful,” one teased.

“Julia said to watch out, she’s a manipulator,” another stated.

Amaya’s eyes widened. ‘Julia!’ she gasped mentally. ‘The bitch is a White Tiger! Well, at least it narrows the field a bit.’

‘Let me take control, you can’t handle it!’ Kaishi roared.

“She looks like some crazy homeless lady,” a blonde male said.

“Nah, that’s her, Amaya the Wolf of the Night Rain. She’s crafty, I tell ya,” an older, darker skinned man said.

“Let’s just take her already!” the first complained. He was a greasy, skinny man, like a snitch character from the old mob movies. Probably named Vinny too. She chuckled out loud at that thought.

“What’s so funny?” the blonde asked.

“What’s his name?” she asked, pointing to the first thug.

“Vince. Why?” he answered.

Her chuckle became a full on laugh, one of Kaishi’s cold laughs. The men tensed, visibly frightened of the evil air that just seemed to radiate off of her in waves as she stood. Kaishi had won, and they? They were going to lose… big time.

*Have you forgotten all I know
And all we had?*

~*~*~*~

*You saw me mourning my love for you
And touched my hand
I knew you loved me then*

A month had passed since her escape from her friends and Amaya was weeping in the dingy apartment that she had been living in as of late. She’d lost her child. James’ child. It was her fault. She was too scarred and broken to carry another child. The doctors had said it lucky she’d conceived at all in the first place and that perhaps one day she could have maybe one, but this time had not been it.

*I believe in you
I’ll give up everything just to find you
I have to be with you
To live
To breathe
You’re taking over me*

‘I’m sorry, Amaya,’ Kaishi’s voice whispered.

“What do you care? You wanted it dead!” she spat back.

‘Let’s just say it grew on me. I am you, you know.’

“I know… I… I hate this, being alone. I can’t take it!” she cried.

‘You aren’t alone, Amaya. You have me.’

*I look in the mirror and see your face
If I look deep enough*

Amaya could almost feel her dark counterpart holding her, the black arms of the demonic creature about her shoulders as she wept into the bed. She was right, though, she wasn’t alone.

No, never alone with the demon at her side.

*So many things inside that are just like you
Are taking over*
