The sun starts to set on an early September day. Darren looks out of his window to watch the sun go down and to await the apex of the night's new moon. Tonight, the fools who call themselves heroes would die. His sister would die and he would destroy the lovers and every single card that wretch of a girl had. He had tossed the idea of making the three girls lower level pets. He had decided that death would be the best thing for them. as for Tao, He would make the boy watch as he killed Icious right in front of that demon hunter. He then feels his three pets join him. They kneel in front of him and look up at him with reverence.
"Rise, my pets." he quietly commands. "This is it. Tonight, we shall win this conflict, once and for all."
"How shall we deal with them, Master?" Nikki asks.
"The three of you will focus on the card mistress and the others. Tao and Icious are mine." Darren explains.
"Why are we doing this on the night of the new moon?" Chelsea asks.
"Yue will be at his weakest this night. Plus, the moon will be black. A black moon increases my powers." Darren explains.
"Won't your sister have the same advantage?" Rita asks.
"She's only half. She won't get the full benefits from the black moon like I will." Darren responds. The gold pentagram vibrates. He scowls realizing the members of The Covenant must have found out what he was about to do. "I shall return before the moon reaches its apex. Have yourselves ready by then."
"Yes master." the three girls say in unison and Darren teleports away.

'What, did the whole Covenant decide to meet with me?" he asks himself as he arrives in the subdimension of The Covenant. "Why have I've been summoned this close to my final victory?" he asks aloud to the large gathering of demons.
"We know of your plans tonight, Darren. It has been decided that if you fail tonight, then you will no longer be leader." an incubus states.
"what!?" Darren fumes.
"Your need to gain power for your own purposes has not advanced the cause of The covenant. Therefore, if you lose this fight tonight, you are no longer leader." the demon retorts.
"When I return, I shall punish you and those that have influenced the ones that had pledged their loyalty to me!" Darren shouts and teleports away.
"We have done what you have requested." the incubus says to a figure wearing a baboon pelt.
"Darren will fail this night. Once he does another will take up the fight against these mortals. Darren's pride will be his downfall."
"We understand. Glory to the higher darker powers." the demon says bowing to the figure. The one in the baboon pelt vanishes in a purple cloud.

With his sword firmly implanted in the ground, Darren stands in the middle of a triangle created by his pets. The demonic magic swirls around the quartet as the four wait for their opponents. The four turn to hear the sounds of the group appearing before them. Sakura, Keroberos, Yue, and Josh land while Wulf, Lee, Tao, Meilin, and Icious come through the trees. Darren counts them and notes that one was missing.
"If you think that you can hide that pathetic wench behind your numbers and a special camera then you are either foolish or arrogant." Darren states.
"I'm going to end your existence tonight, dear brother." Icious says with a sarcastic tone at the end of her declaration.
"Just how are you going to do that without your sword? It only responded to you when you were twisted and demented." Darren says lifting his sword into a defensive position.
"Wanna bet!" Icious says and her black segmented demonic blade comes forth. She lashes out at her brother, but he dodges and swings his sword at her head.
"Remember! Just knock Rita, Nikki, and Chelsea out! It's Darren's influence that's making them like they are!" Sakura cries as the group of five meet the pets of Darren head on.
"Tao! Help the boy genius. I'll deal with my brother myself!" Icious says meeting Darren's slash with her blade. Tao hesitates for only a moment and goes to help Josh deal with a speedy Nikki.
"You think you can defeat me all by yourself?" Darren asks condescendingly. "You are only a half demon."
"I may be only half," she says as her sword slashes into Darren's robes, "but I will make you pay for what you've done to me!" she cries as she blocks another strike from Darren's sword.

"Awe, what's the matter? Am I too fast for you?" Nikki asks teasingly.
"Darren gave you a lot of speed, but let's see if you are fast enough to escape this!" Tao cries out and the ground under Nikki's feet starts to glow white. "Run all you want...,the spell will chase you no matter how far or how fast you can go." Tao explains. Josh watches as the spell continues to follow her movement.
"What if I...," Nikki says and lifts up into the air. "do this?"This isn't good. If we both go up on that contraption of yours she'll just go right back down to the ground.
." Tao says watching their aerial opponent.
"She can't be fast both on the ground and in the air. I'll go up...," Josh starts.
"And I'll stay down here and setup my spell again once she comes back down to earth." Tao says smirking. "Maybe there's something to this 'team work' after all."

"Struggle all you want, Wulf. You can't break those bonds." Rita says smugly. She had quickly attacked Wulf the moment Darren and Icious started to fight. Rita had managed to knock the blond to the ground and quickly had caste a spell to restrain him to the earth itself. "Darren came up with this spell after he fought your ancestor. You see, those restraints will feed off of how much force you put into them. So the more you pull, the less likely you'll escape." Rita explains laughing. "Now Meilin, whoever wins gets Wulf." Meilin growls but nods and charges at Rita.
'Shit! This spell converts my ordained strength to demonic energy! How in the hell did that demon learn this and pass it on to one of his 'pets'? Meilin will just have to beat Rita to break this stupid spell.' Wulf thinks relaxing his body in order not to give the bonds anymore energy.

"For two people who are about to be destroyed, you certainly don't have much to say." Chelsea says trying to get a rise out of Sakura and Lee who were in constant telepathic contact. This silence from the pair was unnerving to say the least.
'How do we tire her out?" Lee asks.
'If we give her too many attacks to avoid we should be able to ware her down. I'll use the shot card and have Keroberos and Yue attack her. You just make sure that your lightning doesn't do any serious damage.'
'Y'know, this fight with Darren makes me miss Sian...,but only a little.' Lee sends back.
"If you won't attack, then I will!" Chelsea says sending a bolt of power at the two.
"Now!" Sakura shouts at Yue and Keroberos. The two guardians throw fire and crystals at Chelsea.
"Element, lightning!" Lee cries.
"Shot card!" Sakura calls.
'No! there trying to tire me out! Master, please, finish off your sister soon!' Chelsea thinks avoiding the attacks.

'C'mon...,c'mon, your faster on the ground.' Tao thinks. 'You won't want to continue playing cat and mouse while your fellow pets are in trouble.' The two in the air had been avoiding each other's attacks. Tao was watching and waiting for the one moment that Nikki would make a mistake.
'This isn't going to work. I think I'll just give Tao what he wants.' Nikki muses with a vicious smile. She angles herself and attempts to do a power dive onto Tao. He throws a sutra at her, but she swiftly avoids it and grabs Tao by the collar. "Oh Joshua...," Nikki calls out, "You better catch me before I drop Tao." she says laughing and launches herself into the air.
"Shit!" Tao shouts trying to keep calm as she continues to dangle him by one arm. "I hate heights!:"
'Well, this is fun.' Josh muses sarcastically as he tries to fly under Nikki in order to catch Tao.
"Awe, what's the matter? You don't like flying?" Nikki asks teasingly.
"No, I can deal with flying just as long as I'm not looking at the ground while doing so!"
Don't worry, you'll be back on the ground, soon." she says threatening to drop him but keeps ahold of the boy.
'If it weren't against my family's code, I'd put in for early retirement after this!" Tao shouts in his mind as Nikki starts to preform some fancy flying.

'Man, they certainly planned this out didn't they?' Wulf asks himself as he watches Josh and Nikki flying while Tao looked like he was going to lose the contents of his stomach. He could see the aerial battle well enough while laying on his back, but he had to turn his head to the right to watch Meilin's fight with Rita. Not helping his girlfriend wasn't doing the berserker part of him any favors. It wanted to try to break out no matter how strong the binds around his body and limbs would get.
'I've got to think of a way to force this crazy girl to break the spell holding Wulf. There's only one way, but I've got to be extremely careful and quick.' Meilin thinks. "Hey Rita!"
"You surrendering?" Rita asks.
"I would surrender, but your spells can't even tickle a fly nor less destroy me." she says smugly.
'what the hell!? Why is she provoking her!?" Wulf shouts.
"Oh yeah! Here, try this on for size!" Rita shouts and lets loose a powerful wave of dark energy. Meilin ducks and rolls out of the way.
'That's it. Keep shooting at me until you have to unbind my Wolfie. Once then, you'll have to deal with me and his berserker.' she muses as she moves out of the way of another large sphere of energy.

"No member of our family has forced me to use my true form against them. You ought to feel honored." Darren says now in his true form.
"You've had to use it on them." Icious retorts.
"I underestimated the mistress of those silly little cards and her friends. Plus, I wasn't fighting them during the new moon." Darren says. Then his sword begins to rattle.
"What's wrong?" Icious taunts, "one of those souls wanting to come out?"
'You just stay in their, Ethel.' Darren thinks letting his aura wash over the sword which quiets the protesting blade. "Let's continue, shall we?" he asks and attacks again. The swords clash again. Icious jumps back a little and starts twirling her body with her sword lashing out at anything that would get in its way. Darren blocks each blow, but then notices that his blade was once again misbehaving. He extends his other hand out and an energy whip trips Icious sending her flying off to the side.
'Damn,' Icious thinks, 'He found out what I was trying to do.'
"You've turned your insanity into cunning fighting ability. You know if you were to break this blade then all the souls will escape from the blade and I would become like the rest of the Covenant." Darren says turning the sword back to the pendent and putting it back around his neck. "Now, I'll show you how it's done!" he shouts and starts spinning himself as two energy whips lash out.
'Shit! this isn't going as well as I thought!' Icious says trying to dodge the whips and keep her distance from the spinning Darren.

"Give it up Chelsea!" Sakura cries, "You can't win against all four of us!"
'She's right. I can't take on all four, but I think I'll be able to make things a little more difficult for them.' she ponders and like Nikki, takes to the air. she is followed by Sakura, Keroberos, and Yue.
"Hey Nikki!" Chelsea cries.
"What!?" Nikki calls back.
"Trade!?"
"You've got it!" Nikki says and the two fly at each other and with a screaming Tao, Nikki hands him over to Chelsea.
'Shit!' Josh swears.
"You three have worn Chelsea out. I'm not too tired to play though!" Nikki cries throwing three blasts of demonic power at the flying trio. The three dodge and returned with a counter strike.
"Damn it! I'm never flying again!" Tao shouts.

"C'mon! Is that your best shot!?" Meilin taunts.
"You...,little...,wretch!" Rita shouts trying to catch her breath.
"What's wrong? Running out of power?" Meilin shoots back.
"I'll show you running out of power!" Rita shouts but her spell fizzles out before it could get halfway to Meilin.
"You done yet?" Meilin asks.
'Damn it! This was her plan wasn't it!? I'll have to take back the spell that is holding Wulf in order to keep fighting.' she thinks and raises her hands. The binds holding Wulf fade and Rita charges in to attack Meilin again.
'Finally!' Wulf thinks getting back to his feet. 'Now, I just have to keep myself in check or I may kill her.' he circles around the fighting pair and waits for an opening.

"Anytime Josh!" Tao shouts. He sees that Nikki was flying at them again. Chelsea smirks and the two girls pass each other again, but instead of feeling a hand off, Tao feels nothing but a falling sensation. He screams as he plummets. Josh manages to get under the demon hunter, but the force of his plummet forces the two to crash into the ground.
"Well, I guess that puts a whole new meaning to the phrase 'killing two birds with one stone'." Nikki says and the two laugh.
"That's enough!" Sakura shouts now using the thunder card, but the duo avoids it.
"I think she's mad." Chelsea says nonchalantly.
"Hm, I guess we'll have to take care of that now won't we?" Nikki says smirking. They link hands and a bubble of dark energy surrounds them as they chant. Once they finish, the bubble explodes outwards in all directions. This knocks everyone that was in the air down to the ground.

"See that!? My pets will finish those heroes off once and for all!" Darren growls.
"Your forgetting one thing, brother." Icious says getting back to her feet after another of Darren's harsher attacks. "They are human. Humans have a bad habit of not knowing when to give up. Even your pets are trying their damnedest to fight them. You're causing a lot of suffering Darren!" Icious says as a red aura surrounds her.
"And I suppose you're going to say that since you have a human heart that you won't give up either? Well then, die!" Darren shouts and his black aura engulfs him. Icious begins to twirl her sword out in front of her. Darren smirks and once again releases his sword. With his demonic aura fully out the sword's occupants were subdued.
"Death lash!" Icious says throwing her sword out towards Darren. Her red aura runs the length of the sword and lances out towards Darren.
"Judgement of the Covenant!" Darren cries and a horizontal wave of black energy crashes into Icious's attack.
'No...,I mustn't...,give up! I've...,got to do this...,for my mother!' Icious shouts in her mind as she pores more of her aura into the attack.
"Ha! You're aura is completely tapped out! Now die!" Darren shouts and his attack pushes back against Icious and the two attacks engulf her. All the fighting stops to watch as the dust clears after that damaging blow. When the dust finally clears, Icious was laying on the ground. Tao bows his head in a silent prayer as Darren comes over to the down body.
"You're still breathing!? I'll just have to fix that." he says and in a guillotine like motion, he brings his sword down. He closes his eyes and waits for flesh to meet sword. The sword doesn't meet flesh though as it impacts against something metal. Darren opens his eyes to see that the hammer head of Wulf's hammer was blocking him and the boy in question was now ready to fight him. "You are just as infuriating as Bran was!"
"I'll take that as a compliment." Wulf retorts. He had decided that Meilin could finish off Rita when he saw Darren approaching the body.
"Let's see what you've got!" Darren shouts. Sword and hammer start to clang against each other. Darren's sword continues to cry out every time Wulf would bring the hammer down onto the blade. Darren backs off and changes the weapon back to the pendent. "You and Icious have the same idea. I'm not going to let you do that."
"Unlike your pets, I can go all out against you and not regret it later!" Wulf cries and charges.

"You two all right?" Sakura asks coming to the pair of Tao and Josh.
"I think I'll live." Josh responds still a little woozy from that fall.
"I'll make Darren pay for hurting her." Tao growls.
"You guys will have to get through the two of us." Chelsea replies.
"That ought to be easy," Meilin says dropping an unconscious Rita, "'cause the two of you have to deal with the seven of us." she finishes smirking at the two.
"Uh oh Chelsea," Nikki says now truly concerned, "I don't think we can handle all of them. We've burned a lot of our power."
"We've got to do something!" Chelsea shrieks.
'Try the sleep card now, Sakura. They've wasted a lot of their power and now it should effect them.' Lee sends.
'Gotcha,' Sakura responds. "Sleep Card!"
"No! Not...,that." the two say and fall asleep.
"Can we...?" Sakura starts to ask but is cut off.
"No, not yet. We've got to weaken Darren more to do it." Kero answers.
"Then let's go kick his tail in!" Meilin says and charges.
"Sword card!" Sakura calls out and she and Lee charge in with their swords. Tao follows while Josh guards the three girls in case Darren were to teleport himself and them away.

'They're swarming! they're trying to destroy my pendent!" Darren thinks avoiding an arrow from both Yue and the arrow card. 'I've got to get to my pets and escape before...,' "No!" he shouts as the wood card begins to bind him. Yue fires another arrow which hits the gold pentagram dead center. The gold pendent starts to crack a little. Wulf brings his hammer down and it cracks a little more. Sakura brings down the sword card which finally shatters the gold pentagram. A blast of white light explodes from the necklace as souls come poring out of it.
"Nooo!" Darren cries out as the souls continue to spew forth until the last one emerges and the light show ends. "I...,will...,make you...,pay...,for...,this." Darren says passing out.
"Now Sakura, before he has a chance to stop us." Kero says reverting back to his smaller form.
"Ready Lee?" Sakura asks and Lee nods. Lee stands close behind Sakura as the two grip Lee's sword. They open up their link and the magic starts to flow and build upon itself.
"Force...,know my plight...,release the light...,light!" the two say and a blast of white light engulf the three girls. Once the spell ended, the two mages sink down to their feet and Tao walks over to check the three out.
"All traces of demonic aura are gone..,you two did it!" Tao says smiling.
"Please...,tell me...,we can use...,intredimensional jumps...,to get them home." Sakura pants out.
"Yes we can." Josh responds.
"Hey! Where's Darren's body?" Meilin asks. The group look at the spot where Darren had been laying and found him gone.
"Hm, without that pendent and the loss of his pets he won't be as much trouble as he once was. He may in fact not come back to this plane of existence again." Tao explains.
"That'll suit me just fine." Meilin says.
"Hey Icious, you all right?" Tao asks kneeling down to check up on her.
"I'll be fine in a couple of days, my slayer." she says quietly.
"My slayer?" Lee says and Meilin smirks at a blushing Tao.

"Welcome back to the realm of the living. Unfortunately for you, you'll be dead soon." the one in the baboon pelt says.
"You! I knew you were behind this. You are one of the higher darker powers aren't you?" Darren asks.
"I am, but you didn't use your powers and your three minions to best your foes. They beat you. You have failed and failure comes at a price."
"What? No!" Darren cries as the one in the pelt rams a green tentacle into Darren's chest. The poison seeps into Darren's body and the incubus is no more.
"Foolish little demon. Did you honestly think you would get a second chance? I better leave this reality before that half dog and the rest of those higher powers of good catch up to me." he says to himself and vanishes in a purple cloud.

"I'm free!" a soul shouts after it had been released from that prison. "Now all I'll have to do is find that damned Akurax and get my powers back!" she cackles.
"Not in this afterlife, Ethel." a male voice says from behind her.
"Bran." she growls as Bran takes ahold of her. "Oh well, hell will be a better place than the inside of that sword. Aaahahahaha!" she laughs. Bran rolls his eyes and the two sould vanish.

'What am I going to do about Chelsea? I guess I'll just have to face the facts that she wants to compete with the other two for Darren's affections.' Zach thinks solemnly.
"Hey Zach!" Chelsea greets.
"Chelsea?" Zachary says stunned.
"What's wrong? You're usually telling your stories all over school."
"Uh, shouldn't you be with Darren?"
"That jerk? He's too full of himself. Plus, I'd rather shut you up anyway." she says pulling a smiling Zachary by the ear.
'Yes! I've got her back!' he celebrates. It didn't matter how it happened just as long as it did.
