Legalities & Warnings

Well, here it is. This is the end of the second arc. Stay tuned at the end of the story for details of upcoming events. Oh, this makes another first for me. This story will have song lyrics laced into it. Yep, the last part of the second arc is a song fic. I don't own the song used nor much of anything else in this fic. Now on with the show.

***

"Good morning. This is hour one of our election day coverage. The poles have just opened and it appears that there is a larger than normal early crowd..." the anchor reports as Aiden Avalon watches the beginning of the television coverage of the election.
"Mornin dad," Sakura greets after coming down the stairs.
"Mornin Sakura," he greets back.
"Did all those people show up right when the poles first opened up?" Sakura asks.
"Yep. I believe that this election will have the best voter turnout ever. C'mon, let's go have some breakfast." he suggests and the two head into the kitchen.

***

"Attention students," the principal calls over the intercom later that morning at school, "those students that are registered to vote should gather at the front entrance at 11:30. A bus will be waiting and will leave at exactly 11:45. Sack lunches will be provided. If the poling place is busy you will not be punished for any class time you may miss."

***

"It sure is quiet without the seniors." Sakura notes as the seven sit to have lunch.
"Well I've got bad news." Tao begins.
"What, did you lose all of your sutras?" Meilin asks.
"Nope. I'll be going back home at the end of this week. Of course I had to convince them that I wouldn't return unless I could bring Icious with me." Tao answers.
"The two of you are awfully close." Madison comments.
"I just hope she can handle your massive ego." Meilin quips.
"I don't know about my ego, but she can certainly handle my massive..., Tao says but Lee smacks him in the back of the head. "Ouch, why did ya hit me?"
"Because certain people at this table do have some shame unlike certain couples I know." Lee retorts.
"So Madison, when do you have to be at Rendle's campaign headquarters?" Sakura asks.
"As my mother told me this morning...,'I must be there right after the final bell rings'." Madison says imitating her mother.
"Why do you need to be there? It's not like he's going to lose." Josh complains.
"Awe, still missing me?" she says pressing the side of her leg against his.
'We've got to find some more friends with some shame.' Lee sends to Sakura who sends a giggle back.
"I've actually have to help setup the victory party. Rendle believes by the time eight rolls around that Clayton will concede the election. I only agreed to help setup if I could invite you guys though." she says and winks at a nervous Josh. He wasn't completely comfortable at such large gatherings.
"One more big event before I leave. Sounds like fun. I can bring Icious right?" Tao asks.
"Sure," Madison answers.

***

"Helena," her campaign manager starts, "our exit poling numbers show that Rendle is winning by a landslide. In my opinion we need to concede right when seven o'clock hits. That way...,"
"No," she interrupts, "I won't give Samantha the satisfaction of me bowing out that quickly. I'll wait until eight to give Rendle the good news." Clayton finishes in a huff.

***

An anxious crowd waits at Rendle's election headquarters for the call from Clayton's headquarters. Then, at exactly 8:02, Craygon addresses the crowd.
"I just got off the phone with Helena Clayton, and I've got only one thing to say...," he says pausing to build a little suspense, "that tomorrow, it will be morning again in Readington." The crowd erupts in applause realizing that Clayton had conceded the election. He waits until the noise dies down before continuing. "I wish to thank all the voters, all my supporters, my campaign manager Ms. Taylor, and the Youth Voters' Association. All of you have made this possible and I will continue to serve as I've always done. I thank you very much, and now, it's time to celebrate!"

***

"And just where do you think you're running off to?" Rendle asks a retreating Samantha.
"I'm going to take my daughter home. I think she doesn't need to spend anymore time with that boy tonight." she explains.
"The celebration has just started, Samantha. She worked just as hard as you have. Let her have some fun."
"Not with that boy she won't."
"Hm, I thought you said that he was frightened of you."
"I'm beginning to suspect that my daughter has more control over him than I do."
"It is said that children usually surpass their parents. Your daughter knows you too well and can get around your over parenting. She's a teenager...,if you allow no slack then they will pull away as hard and as fast as possible. Let her have some slack and either she'll hang herself or she won't be so rebellious."
"She did a good job with the youth vote...,all right, I'll let her stay, but I'm keeping my eye on those two." she relents.

***

"Your mother is watching us." a nervous Josh notes.
"Hmph, she can glare at us all night long for all I care. Don't worry, she'll get tired of watching." she retorts as a song with a slight Latin influence starts. Wulf and Meilin both smirk at each other. It was time to have some fun.

Like a gift from the heavens
It was easy to tell
It was love from above
That could save me from hell
She had fire in her soul
It was easy to see
How the devil himself could be pulled out of me
There were drums in the air
As she started to dance
Every soul in the room keeping time with their hands

"Hm, look at those two. They think just because they're both athletic that they can show off and get everyone's attention." Tao gripes. "Icious, would you care to show those two that they aren't the only talented dancers here tonight?"
"You do have an ego bigger than your cock." she says playfully. "But, I think we need to show off our moves as well."

Like a piece to the puzzle that falls into place
You could tell how we felt from the look on our faces
We were spinning in circles with the moon in our eyes
No room left to move in between you and I
And we forgot where we were
And we lost track of time
And we sang to the wind as we danced through the night

"Inadequate isn't the word to describe how I feel right about now." Josh comments.
"Show offs, all four of them." Lee quips.
"They're good. You've got to give 'em that." Madison says.
"I think we better wait for a slower song before going out there ourselves. You're still prone to fits of clumsiness." Lee teases a blushing Sakura.

As the guitar fades the two boys dip their girls and deeply kiss them. Cat calls and wolf whistles could be heard amongst the group that had been watching.
'We do need to find more modest friends.' Lee sends to Sakura. It was the end of another threat to the card mistress and her friends.

Author's Ramblings

Yes, I know, I put in a song that most likely everyone on this site will flame me for using. The song is preformed by Santana and is sung by Chad Kroeger. To Scorpinac, I thank you for reviewing again. The problem is when I do start writing a story in the past tense I usually change tenses right in the middle of the thing and it messes everything up. It's probably one of the glaring weaknesses in my writing. I thank those lurkers that have pushed the hit count over 1600 at aff.net. I hope you'll take the time to review as well. Now, here's the preview for the next arc.

Mini-arc I: Temporal Twist

A time traveler from the 27th century has gone back in time in order to get rid of the six before Josh's breakthrough with the theory of magic. He arrives while the six are still teenagers. In his mind this will make things much easier. However, nothing is easy when messing with time.

Please review and let me know how bad I'm doing. :)

Stay tuned for "Temporal Twist Part I: The First Breach".
