Christmas Special Part 2

Yamato looked out into the crowded audience from the darkness of offstage. He could hardly believe that word had traveled so quickly about the concert. But it wasn’t the size of the crowd that mattered that night to him, it was all about a certain young blonde sitting in the front row. Yamato turned to look at his band mates. They each gave him thumbs up signaling that they were ready for the show to begin. Yamato looked at the large clock hanging up nearby. It was time for the show to begin. Yamato led the way on stage, causing the audience to jump to their feet and explode into sounds of cheering, screams and applause. Yamato looked out into the audience and saw his brother. Their eyes met causing both of the blondes to smile.

“How is everybody tonight?” Yamato asked, a deafening roar came from the crowd. “That’s always good to hear. On behalf of the band, I would just like to thank you all for coming out tonight and to wish you all a very merry Christmas. I’m glad you came for this concert, tonight we’re going to be mixing some of our own hits with the Christmas songs we all know and love. But before we get started tonight, I would like to bring up someone special.” Yamato connected his eyes with his brother’s again, Takeru’s eyes widened. Yamato then tilted his head back gesturing his brother onto the stage. “I’m sure some of you already know him, but for those who don’t…” Yamato extended his arm out pointing to Takeru as he walked onto the stage. “…This is my little brother Takeru. But what I’m sure none of you know is that this concert is actually for him as part of my Christmas present for him. So how about you all thank Takeru for sharing his Christmas gift with you all.” Another deafening roar came from the crowd.

Takeru couldn’t help but blush from all the attention. Yamato turned to his brother, “Merry Christmas Takeru.”

“Merry Christmas Onii-chan.” Takeru said back. The two blondes wrapped their arms around each other pulled themselves into a hug. Yamato felt the warmth of his brother, and breathed in his intoxicating scent. His lips tingled as he fought the strong urge to kiss his brother.

Yamato leaned closer to his brother and whispered, “I love you.”

“I know.” Takeru answered back.

With much reluctance from both of them the hug broke. “How about one last round of applause for my little brother?” The crowd cheered again as Takeru walked off the stage. “Now, who’s ready to rock?” The band started up and the concert began.

The band started playing and the crowd cheered, the lights twinkled and reflected off the many strands of garland and the angel glowed as it watched from its perch, high atop the large Christmas tree. The band did as it promised, mixing in their hits in with Christmas songs. In fact it was after a rocking performance of the Little Drummer Boy from Yutaka that brought the first part of the concert to a close. The band left the stage to more deafening cheers, as they made their way to their dressing rooms.

As soon as he opened the dressing room door, hands shot out from the room and quickly pulled Yamato inside. Lips were put to lips and Yamato began to panic, he had some rather rabid fans after all. But before he jerked away and fought, he caught the familiar scent of his brother. Yamato didn’t know what had gotten into his brother to act like this but he liked it. He began to kiss back which only pushed Takeru into the kiss more. Before Yamato knew it, Takeru’s tongue was trying to gain entry into Yamato’s mouth, and Yamato was more than egger to allow him entry. He felt as Takeru’s hands moved around to his back pulling him close. But that closeness wasn’t enough to quench the fire that was in Takeru, he needed more. His hands slid down Yamato’s back to find themselves on Yamato’s rear. Without any further warning Takeru grabbed his older brother’s ass, causing Yamato to let out a
yelp that was lost in his brother’s mouth.

“Get a room you two!” shouted a voice.

All actions between the brothers ceased. As they pulled their faces away from each other, their eyes shot open, looking into each other’s eyes for the first time since the beginning of the concert. They both began to turn a bright scarlet. They then turned to the laughing person that had caught them.

Yamato looked his drummer right in the eye, “We have a room, thank you very much.”

“Then close the door, or is being watched what excites you two?” Yutaka asked raising his eyebrows.

“Get out of here.” Yamato said with a slight laugh.

“Going.” Yutaka turned to walk away but then turned back around, “Oh Takeru, don’t take away all your brother’s breath. We still need him to finish the second half.” He then gave the two blonde lovers a wink and a grin and walked off.

Yamato closed the door and turned back to his brother who was still blushing. “So is it safe to say that you’re enjoying the concert?”

Takeru nodded, “I love it.”

Yamato smiled at his brother, “Good, I’m glad to hear you like your gift.”

The word ‘gift’ jogged Takeru’s memory that he had one for his brother as well, “Close your eyes.”

“What?” Yamato asked, unsure of his brother’s odd request.

“Close your eyes, I have a gift for you.” Takeru answered.

“What you just keep people’s gifts with you?” Yamato teased.

“Of course not, I had Dad pick it up on his way here.” Takeru stated.

“Well alright then.” Yamato said with a smile, he then closed his eyes and extended his hands.

Takeru pulled out a small wrapped box from a pocket and placed it in his brother’s hands.

Yamato opened his eyes and stared at the small present in his hands. The weight felt familiar to him but he couldn’t quite place it. He then began unwrapping the gift that his brother had given him. Under the paper laid a plain white box. Yamato removed the lid to the box, and a large smile appeared on his face.

“You like it?” Takeru asked, making sure that his brother liked the gift.

“More than that, I love it. Thanks Otouto-chan” Yamato said giving his brother a large hug.

“You’re welcome, Onii-chan.” Takeru said hugging his older brother back. As the hug ended though, a question
popped into Takeru’s head. “Can you even play that?”

Yamato nodded, “I can. In fact the harmonica was the first instrument I learned how to play. I used to play it all the time.” He then looked at his brother as the memories of their childhood came back to him. “And sometimes when you were young and couldn’t sleep at night, you’d ask me to play you a song until you fell asleep.”
Takeru smiled at his brother, “Really?”

“Really.” Yamato answered.

“So why did you stop playing the harmonica?” Takeru asked.

“I gave it to a friend. As a gift for him to remember me by, and all the great times we had.” Yamato said, the smile fading from his face as he remembered how long it had been since he had seen his digimon.

“So why didn’t you just get a new one?” Takeru asked.

Yamato perked his smile back up, “Cause I got a guitar instead.” He looked into his brother’s warm blue eyes and felt himself being drawn to him. But instead of going to his brother, an idea popped into his head. “If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be right back.” And with that Yamato walked out of the door leaving Takeru alone in the room.

A few minutes past and Takeru was still alone. He looked around the room that was his brother’s dressing room. His lips still tingled from the rather fiery kiss he had with his brother. He wasn’t sure what the rest of the night would hold, be he was sure that he wasn’t going to forget this night for a very very long time. He had just sat down in a chair when his brother came back in. “Care to explain why you just left?”

“You’ll just have to wait and find out. It’s a surprise.” Yamato said cramming himself in the chair next to his brother.

Takeru looked at his brother and smiled, “If your last surprise wasn’t so awesome I’d be worried.” He then leaned over to his brother kissed him.

As the band retook the stage to finish the second half of the concert, the crowd burst out into cheers as they were more than ready to continue rocking. The music started again making the crowd even happier and more excited. After rocking Jingle Bell Rock, taking breaths away with Silent Night, and jamming to their own hit, Lost in a Spinning World, Yamato felt the time was right to reveal his new surprise. “Well, this next song is for someone very near and dear to me. I hadn’t planned on playing this song tonight, but during the intermission that person gave me the best Christmas gift I have ever gotten.” Yamato pulled his new harmonica from his pocket. “So I wanted to play this song for you like I used too. And I just wanted to tell you that I know things haven’t been the best for you recently, but things are already looking up for you again and the sky’s the limit. So….”Yamato then put the harmonica to his lips and started the song. Once the band quietly accompanied him, he began to sing.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light,
Next year all our troubles will be out of sight.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule tide gay,
Next year all our troubles will be miles away.

Once again as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us,
Will be near to us, Once more.

Someday soon we all be together,
If the fates allow,
Until then we’ll have to muddle through somehow.
So have yourself a Merry Little Christmas now.

As Yamato finished the song and took the harmonica away from his mouth again. The crowd cheered louder than ever, but Yamato wasn’t paying attention to that. He looked down at his brother still sitting in the front row. Even though he was still some distance away, Yamato could see the water in his lover’s eyes. Yamato’s mouth dropped slightly as well as his heart, had he hurt his brother in some way? Yamato began to panic, but before his guilt and panic could grow any larger their eyes met again. And Takeru gave him a large smile. Yamato felt himself calm back down almost immediately, and as the audience quieted back down the concert continued again as planned.

After the concert, as well as the encore, had ended, Yamato as well as his band walked back stage congratulating each other on another great concert. Yamato stopped before he opened the door, to prepare himself for another assault from his brother’s mouth. When he opened the door however he was shocked by who he saw. It wasn’t his brother.

“That was some concert Yamato.” The person said.

“I’m glad you liked it Dad.” Yamato said walking over to his father and giving him a hug. “So you coming to the Christmas Eve party back at my apartment?”

“I wish I could Yamato, but the station is a skeleton crew of a skeleton crew tonight. In between the people out with the flu, people celebrating Christmas Eve, and those that just wanted the night off, only a handful of people are there. I’m expecting to see a smoldering pile of ash where the station used to be when I get back.”

“I’m glad you risked the station to come.” Yamato said.

Hiroaki nodded, but then the smile faded from his face. “I came back here because I needed to talk to you Yamato.”

Yamato looked at his father, “Something wrong?”

“I stopped at your apartment on the way over here this evening, to pick your gift up for Takeru. When I came out of the apartment, Nancy was standing in front of the door. She said she knew that Takeru is staying with you. From what I gathered she going to grab him when you two get back from the concert tonight. I think I may have scared her away, but I’m not sure. She’s a desperate woman Yamato, so be careful. But don’t let her ruin your Christmas, if you see her call me.”

Yamato looked at his father blankly, that was not the kind of news he wanted to hear on Christmas Eve. He then wiped the look from his face, “Thanks for the heads up Dad.”

“Remember if you see her, call and let me know. I’ll be right over.” Hiroaki then pulled his heavy winter coat off the back of the chair and walked to the door. “Merry Christmas Yamato.”

“Merry Christmas Dad.” Yamato said with a smile. Hiroaki then exited the dressing room.

Yamato looked into the mirror and thought about what his father had said, about how his ‘mother’ was standing in front of his apartment. The thought alone unnerved him. But before he could think about the issue any further there came a knock from the door. “Come in.”

The door opened, and where Yamato thought he would see his brother, he instead saw Akira standing there.

“Hey Yamato, we’re getting ready to head out and mingle with the fans for a bit. You ready?” Akira asked.

“I’ll take a rain check Akira. The concert for me was just for Takeru, so I think I’ll just clean up a bit, gather my stuff and slip on out the back this one time.” Yamato answered.

Akira nodded in agreement, “You two have a great Christmas then, ok?” Akira said.

“I’m sure we will, You have one too. And you’re more than welcome to come over tonight for the Christmas Eve Party.” Yamato said.

“Maybe next year, I’ve got to catch a train in a couple hours. The whole family is getting together at some hot springs.” Akira said.

“Sounds like fun. Be safe.” Yamato said.

“You too. Merry Christmas.” Akira said.

“Merry Christmas.” The two musicians then gave each other a quick hug before, the keyboardist left Yamato alone again.

Yamato was busy cleaning his face when there was another knock from the door. After Yamato said to enter, two blondes came into the room. Neither one of them were his brother.

“Akira says you slipping out the back.” Takashi said.

“Yeah, going to get to the apartment, and get things set up before everyone comes over.” Yamato said.

“Fine by me. Do you think Takeru liked the concert?” Takashi asked.

“Oh, he loved it.” Yamato said, his lips tingling just thinking about how Takeru was thanking him during the intermission.

“That’s good to hear. Well we should let you finish getting ready to leave. Tell your Dad merry Christmas from us alright.”

“Will do, you tell your mom merry Christmas and give her a hug from me too alright.” Yamato said in return.
Takashi and his brother nodded, and said “Merry Christmas Yamato.”

“Merry Christmas you guys. Thanks again.”

With a wave goodbye the two brothers left Yamato alone. Yamato finished cleaning his face and was busy gathering his things when someone burst through the door and quickly slammed it behind them, and leaned against the door.
Yamato gave a startled look to the person, then gave a smirk. “What took you so long?”

“Thanks to you, I now have a group of crazy college girls chasing after me.” Takeru said, taking deep breaths trying to get some air to his taxed lungs.

Yamato gave a chuckle.

Takeru didn’t join in with his brother’s laugh, “It’s not funny.”

“Actually it kind of is.” Yamato said, getting a glare in return from his brother. “Most guys your age would kill to be chased by college girls, even if they are bit crazy.”

Takeru pushed himself off the door and sauntered over to his brother, “Now why would I want to be chased by crazy college girls, when I already have the perfect college guy? Hmmm?” Takeru ran his hand against his brother’s cheek and leaned in close.

Yamato gave a slight gulp as he felt his brother’s hand on his cheek and his brother’s warm breath blowing against him, his brother sure knew how to be seductive. Yamato leaned in to kiss his brother but got a rude surprise instead. Takeru’s hand leapt off his cheek and returned with a bit of playful force.

“That’s for laughing at me.” Takeru then laughed at his brother bemused look.

Yamato just rolled his eyes at his brother, “Whatever.” He then gathered the rest of his things and headed for the door.

Much like if you had seen the brothers walking to the concert, you would have seen a similar sight of them holding hands. The brother’s held on for support against the ever slickening sidewalks, for warmth against the ever dropping temperature, as well as to feel their hands touch and share their ever growing love they had for each other. But those weren’t the only reasons Yamato had to be holding his brother’s hand that night. The news his father had shared with him about their mother had Yamato on edge. Just thinking about it made Yamato tighten the hold he hand on Takeru’s hand. But Yamato’s thoughts continued.

He knew Nancy for the most part had always been close with Takeru, and they never spent any holidays away from each other. He also knew how much Christmas had meant to the woman he had once called ‘Mom’. She would always insist that the whole family be together for Christmas, even though she and him never really got along he was still always invited over for Christmas. The news that Nancy was back looking for Takeru didn’t really surprise Yamato if he thought about it, it just made him alert and worried. Because he knew his ‘mother’ was crazy enough to crash any party to get what she wanted, and face the consequences later. With those thoughts, Yamato let go of his brother’s hand and instead put his arm around his brother’s waist and pulled him as close to him as he could.

“Ummm, Yamato. Not that I’m complaining or anything but, is everything okay?” Takeru asked about the sudden closeness.

“Yep, everything’s fine.” Yamato said flatly.

“Uh huh. That’s why you have a death grip on me.” Takeru said.

Yamato looked over his shoulder and saw someone walking behind them. He tried pulling his brother even closer.
“As you found out, I have some pretty crazy fans. Sometimes they try to follow me home, and I just get a little paranoid. I don’t want to wind up like Paul Sheldon.” Yamato then gave a small forced laugh.

“Who?” Takeru asked.

Yamato smirked, “He’s from a movie, forget it.” Yamato looked back behind him again. The stranger was still behind them but a little further back, blending into the darkness of the streets. Yamato looked back forward and kept walking.

Well....What to say. It seems that the fates really didn't want me to post this chapter. After returning back to college my computer crashed. I thought I had this chapter saved else where but......nope. So few days later, after beating myself up for not saving it else where, I got the news that there was a loss in the family. Well that then took away any and all motivation I had to rewrite this chapter. Which was hard enough because I hate rewriting things, as I always feel that I cannot match the same quality as the first writing.

This chapter could be a lot longer but I felt that I needed to post it. Not only to give you all something to read, but also so I could jump over a mental hurdle. Other wise this chapter might be twice as long as it is. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, even though I know the ending might have aggravated some of you. As always please Rate and leave me a review.

For those that give a damn: Putting 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas' was a nod to a story I love reading. It's called 'The First Christmas' by ProcurerFaith on Fanfiction. I've read it I don't know how many times, but I still can't read it with out crying my eyes out.
