Authors note: Tis the week before finals and all through the house, everyone is
studing, even the mouse. But low! what do we have here? a fanfic author writeing insted
of studying for her math final!! Bad DS BADDD!!!!

If I had known then what I was getting into, I might’ve just turned tail and run. Pride and sense of adventure be damned. Then again I might not have. I can be quite stubborn, even when it’s against my better judgment. This is, however, beside the point. I didn’t turn tail and run, no, I did what I normally do when confronted with a story of any kind. I researched.

I ran a hand through my hair and sighed as I looked at the frail figure before me. Every lead I had, every bit of information I was able to gather, had led me straight to this hospital room. I don’t know what I had expected to find here. I guess I had hoped…well, It doesn’t matter now anyway.
My watch beeped, informing me that I was going to be late meeting up with Mimiru. I took one last look at the sleeping figure, seemingly wrapped in a cocoon of wires and tubes, and lulled by the constant thrum of the life support machines. To believe that this young girl was Tsukasa, I hoped I was wrong.
“Bear! Your late old man. So are we gonna go or what? Cause I found these really cool key words on the board.” I smiled at her. Leave it to Mimiru to know just how to cheer me up.
“Of course, lead the way.”
“Bear, is there something wrong?” I looked at her, surprised. Was I that easy to read?
“No, nothing we need to worry about just yet.” She frowned at me, obviously not happy with my answer. “Besides, I thought we were going on a dungeon adventure.” Her concern was instantly forgotten.
“Oh yeah! It this really cool place I found. It got the most awesome treasure….” I smiled listening to her ramble on excitedly. She reminded me of my son when he was younger. Perhaps that’s why I enjoyed her company so much.
Using the key words she provided we gated into a desert field. We found the dungeon without too much trouble. The design of some of the dungeons in this game was lost on me. Take the one we were in for example. It looked like some underground french château.
“BEAR!! EARTH TO BEAR!! HELLO!!!”
“I’m Sorry?”
“You were completely spacing out on me. What’s tumbling around in that old brain of yours?”
“Nothing, it wasn’t important.” We had stopped walking. There was a dungeon portal right in front of us.
“You ready old man?” I nodded in her direction.” Right then lets do this.” We both stepped forward activating the portal. The spinning gold rings started to fluctuate wildly spitting a shower of golden sparks every which way until the light faded leaving a large claw monster in its wake. We charge, both letting out battle cries before attacking viciously hacking and slashing away at the poor creature.
“So Bear, when are you going to tell me what you found out about Tsukasa?” She was shouting across din din of the battle.
“Nothing Useful”
“Nothing Useful!? Come on you can do better than that. HAAAA!!”
“What kind of name is Tsukasa anyway, Its kind of androgynous don’t you think?”
“Bear, what are you talking about?!”
“All I found was a coma patient, who matches up at the time and place Tsukasa would have fallen.”
“Tsukasa…”
“That’s not all I found, the person in the coma, It was a girl.”
“WHAT!!?!! AHHH!!” *thud* Mimiru was caught by an errant claw and thrown into a pillar. Taking advantage of the distraction she provided and heaved a mighty slash at the beast. It gave one last cry before disintegrating.
“Are you OK?”
“Yeah, Are yore tre that was Tsukasa?”
“I can’t be sure of anything until I ask him.”
“Bear?”
“Yes?”
“Let’s go ask him.”
“OK.”
