Unsettling Enmity

Unsettling Enmity: Sins Series - Wrath

~*~*~*~

It didn't take Aya very long to find Yohji, he could smell the sharp tang of cigarette smoke before he came around the corner of the building. For a moment he was blind, the sudden shift from sunlight to shadow leaving him blinking.

Yohji shifted, a darker line against the wall behind him. He glanced at Aya and then away, lifting the cigarette to his lips to forestall the words that wanted to escape his throat.

Aya stalked down the alley, eyes narrowed in a glare that pinned Yohji in place like a deer caught in headlights. As he drew close to Yohji his steps slowed until he halted just inches away.

Forcing a veneer of languid curiousity Yohji lifted his eyes to Aya's face, barely surpressing a wince at the tightly leashed rage he saw there. He slanted his eyes to the side, wondering what he could say that would drive Aya away until he was ready for this confrontation.

“What did you think you were doing?” Aya demanded, fists clenched at his sides. “I don't know how you found out, but it doesn't give you the right to have fun at my expense.”

“Found out?” Yohji was honestly puzzled, moreso when he saw the sudden blush that flamed in Aya's cheeks. “Found out what?”

“Nothing,” Aya snapped, steadfastly ignoring his burning cheeks. “I asked you a question.”

Yohji nodded, a flick of his fingers sending his cigarette spinning over Aya's shoulder. He started to turn away from Aya, but was surprised to find Aya's hands flat against the wall on each side of him, trapping him.

“Tell me,” Aya's voice was hard and cold but Yohji thought he heard some other note beneath the usual gruffness.

“I... I don't know what I was doing,” Yohji answered honestly, shrugging one shoulder. “Not what I wanted to be doing.”

“Fine. Good.” Aya drew back, dropping his eyes and hands. He continued speaking, more to himself now, “It was a momentary lapse. That's all it was.”

“Right,” Yohji nodded, reaching out to catch Aya's chin in his hand. “It wasn't what I wanted to do at all.”

As he finished speaking he pulled Aya gently toward him and covered Aya's lips with his own. Aya's mouth opened on a gasp of surprise and the tip of Yohji's tongue glided slow and smooth across Aya's lower lip. Yohji felt his knees tremble as he inhaled their mingled breath, tasted the dark sweetness that was Aya.

His hands rose to cup Aya's face but closed on air as Aya ripped violently backwards. Aya lifted a hand to his lips and stared at Yohji.

“Damn you,” Aya hissed, spinning and walking quickly out of the alley, leaving Yohji alone in the shadows.
