Not Lucky thirteen anymore

Dani: It’s hard getting a lot of reviews where ever you go isn’t it??

Shicora: It’s better if you threaten them…

Dani: No it’s not!! Besides it’s not in my nature!

Shicora: Yes it is! Only if they tease or bug you to the point where you’re gonna break. You’re scary when you threaten people, cause your threats aren’t empty….

Dani: True, but I do not know these people out there so I’m sweet! :D :)

“Blow out the candles Integra,” Walter smiled down at the newly fourteen year old.

The platinum blond closed her eyes, made a wish, and blew. Everyone clapped, everyone except one man that she wanted next to her. Arthur Hellsing was busy working, on her birthday.

‘He had probably forgotten,’ she thought, throwing a fake smile at everyone: the maids, the butler, other hunters, the queen who sat behind her, the commanders, and the army of men. She received plenty gifts, all except from two people. Her father obviously, and her night friend, Alucard. She could sense the crazy vampire in the back of her mind, watching everything from her eyes.

Oh, you wanted a present from me? You greedy little thing,’ he laughed.

‘I’m not greedy, I just want what the present represents,’ she sent him, eating a piece of her strawberry birthday cake.

‘Seems greedy to me…’ he pondered.

‘Shut up and go away,’ she grounded out while trying hard not to actually glare. That damned vampire!! Annoying her anyway he can!!

‘As you wish Miss Hellsing,’ Alucard then left her alone.

Integra laughed and smiled as everyone joked, danced, and hugged her. She couldn’t help it, everyone was…funny. Integra looked out the window and saw the sun sinking under the horizon. Almost time to leave this crazy crowd and see her crazy friend. Everything was crazy in her life.

Finally, everyone had left, except everyone who lived there and she was now allowed to roam around without someone stopping her to wish her happy birthday and ask about her goals in life. She was glad that everyone was too tired or too drunk that they went to sleep. But Walter, man, Walter is still not drunk after seven glasses of alcohol. ‘How can he still be awake, and walking straight?’ she wondered as she hid in a dark corner as he dusted by.

‘Walter? That man can do almost anything…’ Alucard’s voice murmured in her mind.

‘You don’t say…’ with her hands behind her back she walked through the basement.

The birthday girl knew the basement like the back of her hand. The room where Alucard used to sleep in was on the right, the only room on the right. All the others were on the left, either empty or serving as a storage room for weapons that she would not touch, yet. She knew where every crack was on the wall, every hole in the cold floor. Ok not every…there was too much, but the ones that stuck out the most she did know.

Integra’s nose wrinkled. Not because of the decaying smell, but because it was hot in the basement. It was never hot… it always froze her to the bone. She was quite surprised she was still able to move when she first came down here. Sighing, she took a blue ribbon out of the pocket on the left of her skirt and tied her long hair in a loose bun.

The door that was all too familiar was soon in front of her. The little blonde squinted in confusion. The blood markings were glowing, and looked fresh. Did someone renew it? They shouldn’t have, father had to be here in order to do that. His blood was needed. Shrugging off the thought she put a delicate hand on the handle and flinched, bringing her hand back to her. The handle was hot as fire!!

‘Alucard? What’s happening??’

Alucard laughed from behind the steel door. He could laugh that loud??

‘Something good…ooohh….very good…’ he purred.

‘That can’t be good for anyone else here…’ She wrapped her white laced skirt around her hand and placed it on the handle.

The flaming handle was warm through her skirt and she pushed the door open quickly. Straightening her skirt she walked down the steps, her two inch heels clicking. Integra’s eyebrows furrowed in even more confusion.

The white wires were flashing; dull then bright, over and over again. The goon being held by them was grinning, his eyes wide and the red irises glowing bright.

“A-Alucard? What’s going on?” her voice was shaking. Why? She wasn’t afraid of him.

It was as if, something inside her knew something was wrong. Something was happening outside, something that wasn’t supposed to happen, not yet. She could not place a finger on it.

“The white witch is dying…” Alucard murmured. “The white witch is dying!” this time in a singsong voice.

“What white witch?” Integra stood only a foot from him. The warmth she used to feel when she was in front of him was gone. The coldness that was always behind the doors was licking her body.

“The white witch…the damned white witch that gave these to my dear Angel of Death…to bind me before I caused chaos…is dying!!!!!” The vampire in red tilted his head back and laughed. Laughing as if he wanted the world to know what he just announced.

“Chaos? What sort of chaos?” The petite Integra asked.

“Chaos that your father promised to never let happen,” he stared down at her, eyes holding pure evil glee.

That her father promised…? Oh no…

“Alucard…you can’t!!” Integra shouted up at him.

“HAHAHA!!! Oh…but I can!!!” The brightness from the wires was glowing less and less, and the brown leather boots were touching the floor.

Integra watched in a mixture of awe and horror as he pulled at the wires that was holding him. Finally, the brightness was gone, and the vampire broke free of them. The small teenager took a few steps back as she flexed his forgotten muscles, smiling with his trademark cheshire grin. He wasn’t supposed to be free… she overheard her father and Walter talk about ‘the vampire in the dungeons’, and how he needed to stay locked forever. Didn’t the white witch put a spell on the wires that would make them last forever?

“That was how they were supposed to work, but she forgot to put a spell on herself. I know this spell…” Alucard’s glowing red eyes darted to his mind friend, who froze under his gaze. “She was supposed to drink a potion that would make her young and alive forever…much like a vampire, only she couldn’t be killed, except by a werewolf or vampire….” He chuckled darkly. “Oh yes, I know this spell all too well…but she is dead, this magic only works if the one who cast it is alive, and she is no longer with you humans.”

He took two long strides just to reach the scared Integra. “Why do you fear me, Integra?

“Y-you’re free…you shouldn’t be…e-everyone will be dead…” she whispered in a shaky voice.

Alucard smirk and placed a hooked finger under her chin, lifting her off the floor effortlessly and raising her to his eye level.

“Not everyone…”

“B-but those dreams…”

She could never forget those horrifying dreams that he sent her occasions, showing her how much he wanted blood, and how much he loved it. He showed her killings he made; battlefields were soaked with blood and large piles of dismembered bodies were everywhere, vampires and humans alike.

“Now Integra…how can you fear me?? The only person who you have had a real conversation with besides Walter?” He purred

“Easy…you’re a vampire…a killer…you showed me what you did…” Integra tried to regain her courage. Her father did tell her not to show fear to a vampire.

“Ah…so you felt safe while I was behind those wires, no?” He chuckled. “Oh what fun I’ll have!! Will you join me my dear?? Join me in walking the night??”

Could she?? Could she walk the night with this vampire? She would be free of this place, her own prison cell. She would live on forever the same, never becoming old. But…she’d have to feed off of humans, humans who deserved to live and watch others grow. And…she’d go against her father…

“No, never, I can’t.”

“Well… if you ever change your mind.” with that he placed her back on her feet and materialized out of the room.

Integra panted, staring down at her pearly white shoes.

What just happened? Everything was…hazy. Why?

Integra stayed glued to the spot Alucard placed her. Something was not right. A vampire was on the loose, yes, but he was her friend. Then again, he did show her the pictures of her gory battles. Everything about those dreams always felt real when she woke up, shaken and sweaty. She could always feel the blood sliding down her arms in thin streams, matted to her hair, soaking her night gown. She always rubbed her skin red in the morning, only seeing the blood coating her dark skin.

Was a vampire always mean? Was it necessary for them to overkill and careless of the creatures they once were? Was it necessary for them to only see humans as cattle??

The blonde shook her head; her head was already in pain, so she walked up the stairs, spotting a shadow over her. Lifting her head she spotted Uncle Richard, staring down at her.

“Little Integra, what on earth are you doing here?” he asked.

“Um…I was…” She looked behind her and back up at her uncle.

“Didn’t your father tell you to never come down here?” Uncle Richard was talking to her in that sickening I-could-careless tone.

“I heard something and…I thought I’d come by to see what it was…” She knew she shouldn’t lie, but she had to.

The two of them looked up at the sound of rushing and pounding boots, commands being shouted and guns clicking. The fourteen year old nibbled on her bottom lip and rushed out the door, past her uncle. Integra lifted the hem of her skirt and hurried up the stairs, ignoring the pain that her lungs and legs screaming.

Panting, she reached the top, soldiers and hunters were scattered everywhere, dead. She covered her nose with her gloved hand. The smell of blood was overwhelming. She knew some of these men, never mind, she knew all of them, every one of them was at her party hours ago, but they were unrecognizable.

Integra stepped over the bodies looking around with caution. Had Alucard done this?? Had the person she considered a friend do this??

“Integra!!” her head whirled at the sound of her name.

There stood her father, a hand on the bloody wall and the arm hanging listlessly at his side. He was drenched with sweat and blood dribbled down his face.

“Father!!! What’s going on?!?!” Arthur did not answer but he ran to her side and picked her up.

At the moment Integra could careless of the blood that was staining her brand new white dress. Her father was hurt. She felt helpless at seeing him like this: his head looking around for the thing that caused this, his arm still hanging lifelessly at his side, probably broken, his clothes torn, and blood drenching his front..

“Daddy? What’s going on??” She whispered, wrapping her arms around his neck.

“Aww….how sweet, father and daughter reunited, much too bad it will only last for a short while…” Integra gasped at the sight of red flashing by.

“Count!!! You leave my daughter out of this!!” Arthur hollered, rushing up the stairs.

“But she is so adorable!!” Integra knew that laugh anywhere.

Arthur reached his study and placed his shaking daughter on the leather couch. Arthur bent down and petted her hair.

“Integra listen to me. No matter what you hear outside of this room do not open the door.”

“But father you might be hurt!!!” Integra gripped her father’s arms. “You are hurt!!”

“Never mind me Integra!! I need you to be alive!! I want you alive!” The child’s father placed a kiss on her forehead and hugged her tight to his body. “You’re all I have, and I love you dearly, please don’t open the door.”

“But-”

“Integra…please…promise me”

Her father sounded desperate. One of the characteristics he never had, at least from what she heard. But she, like him, didn’t want to loose him. Whether or not she spent tons of time with him like many children did with their father, she still loved him. Integra could only return the hug and cry.

“I promise…but promise me you won’t die!!” She cried.

Arthur didn’t answer, but his hold on her slackened. He buried his face in her hair and kissed the top of her head before letting her go and rushing out the room, slamming the door shut.

Patiently and quietly, she waited, but the blue eyed girl could not stop her body from shaking uncontrollably. Integra could only hear screams and shouts, crashes and things breaking. She prayed to god that her father would survive what ever Alucard was doing.

Integra soon started pacing. It was midnight, and she kept freezing to look at the door. The bangs and crashes and yells and gun shots have yet to stop. What was going on out there?

‘Wouldn’t you like to know…’ her eyes narrowed. Like the laugh, she knew that voice.

‘Alucard what are you doing!?!’

‘Having fun milady, there is nothing wrong with that…is there?’ He chuckled.

‘You bastard…’

“You’re a bastard Alucard!!!!” she shouted, crystals rolling down her cheeks from anger and saddening images, of what she might see if she left her father’s study, that raced through her mind.

Alucard’s laugh only echoed through the whole study.

‘Don’t cry little one, no one as beautiful as you deserves to cry.’

“Don’t play with me Alucard!!! I’m not a naive child anymore!!” She screamed at the top of her lungs.

‘But I like playing, and compared to me, you are still an infant.’ She could feel him smirking.

“Why don’t you come in here and say that to my face!!!” Integra’s angry glassy eyes looked around for any shadow shifting or red eyes staring at her.

‘I can’t…you father did something to that room…it won’t let me through.’

Integra huffed and plopped down on the leather couch, tears still rolling down her cheek. What was wrong with her? She knew she had much more self control than this. Maybe she was still just a child…children have little control of themselves, and she had very little at the moment. She ran her fingers through the shining blonde hair that came loose of its bun hours ago. Sobs shook her body as she curled into a ball, her chin resting on her knees, staring out at the window.

***********

Integra had fallen asleep around two in the morning, the yells where still going on at that time. And she just fell out; it was like a movie that first kept her guessing and jumping in surprise and shivering in fear. Then, after watching it too many times, it no longer had that affect on her, only boring her and putting her to sleep.

The sun was up, beaming down at her through the windows, trying to wake her with its brightness. Integra moaned and turned on her side, her glasses, long fallen off of her face, was on the floor and a bit crooked from her sleeping with them on. Her dreams were plagued with her father’s smiling face, even smiles she never remembered seeing.

“Daddy…” left her lips in a small whisper.

And Walter heard it… He was in his butler suit, but it was torn in several places. Blood was splattered all over him and he was staring down at his new mistress. He knows she would not take the news nicely. The aging butler bent down and shook her shoulders slightly.

“Miss Integra?”

Integra moaned again. And he shook her only harder.

“Miss Integra, please wake,” he persisted.

The blonde girl, still in her birthday dress opened one eye at the butler. “What is it Walter?” She sat up and groggily rubbed her eyes, thinking she was in her room.

She blinked at Walter’s state. “Walter…what are you- why are your clothes torn??” Walter’s eyes averted another direction.

Integra blinked. Recollections of last night came to mind. The teenager gasped and grabbed one of Walter’s hands. Though he was blurry in her eyes, she could still see his blue gray eyes that were showing evident sadness.

“W-Walter? Is father alive? Please tell me he is…”

Walter only closed his eyes and pulled her into a hug, rubbing her back.

“I am sorry Miss Integra…I have tried to save him, but…”

Integra’s jaw dropped slightly. He…was gone??

“He can’t be… He can’t be Walter!!!” pushing herself out of the butler’s grip, she ran to the door. After pushing it open, she gasped at the sight of her home.

There were large dents on the stone walls, blood was splattered everywhere, and bodies were hanging from the chandelier, at least half of what was left of it. The other half of the chandelier was smashed on the marble floor, a body or two under it. Vases were smashed to pieces, paintings were ripped, stoned statues were broken and bullet holes decorated the walls with the dents. Even if everything was blurry she could make out everything.

“Daddy?” she called quietly.

‘Daddy’s no longer here…sweet Integra…’ she felt a ghostly hand pet her.

“Leave me alone Alucard…” she growled. “How could you?”

‘He was in my way…he tried to kill me, and he ordered me to be locked up… Wouldn’t you want your revenge too?’

“No I wouldn’t!!” Integra knew she was yelling out, but the only one who could hear was Walter, everyone else was either dead or on vacation. “He’s my father…”

The girl fell to her knees, covering her face with her gloved hands, tears rolling again.

“You’re so cruel… You don’t deserve to walk this Earth…” she whispered. “I will stop you from walking...” She lifted her head to the ceiling. “Do you hear me?!?! I’ll be rid this world of you!!”

Alucard watched her in the shadows. He watched her with his familiar’s eight eyes. The hellhound could pounce and rip out her throat…but Walter was next to her, glaring at him through the side of his eye. Alucard chuckled.

“Oh really?” he spoke. He watched her little head spin to face him.

“I’ll be looking forward to it…Lady Hellsing…”
