A Mother and her Twin Angels.

Revenge Of the Angels

Chapter 3

“A Mother and her Twin Angels.”

“Your such an ass. I hate you, you good for nothing bed hopper.” The voice came out timidly, wavering from sob to sob, and then laughing to herself Misato turned in her bed, to stare across the room a framed picture of her one and true lover. “Why? Why did you have to die?” She clenched the bed sheets tighter around her form, “Urgh… Your probably saying it was your job or some shit, to get yourself out of the picture. Heh… Why do I even love as someone as selfish as you?”

“Mom, tell Narumi to stop picking on me!” A red haired girl stamped her foot down roughly, her arms crossed, her blue eyes staring strongly to her twin. She then pointed an accusing finger to the timid other girl, who skulked away from her big sister. Well… big sister due to the fact Narumi was the first to be born, but sometimes it was Natsumi who was the mature out of the two even if they were just ten.
“Narumi, we know your sister has never picked on you, its usually the other way around.” Came the strong maternal voice from the figure standing in front of the brightly lit window.
Narumi crossed her arms and pulled a pouting face. Then turning her head away from her mother, “It is not true mother! She is really a big ol’ meanie!”
The twins were in fact nothing like each other. Sometimes you could not tell if they were even related. Narumi was hot tempered, selfish, and always but surely wanted her way. She took pride in being an individual, and, wanted nothing more to look and act different from her sister. Narumi’s hair was always down, hanging to her shoulders. Her choice of clothing was a taste that certainly did not come from her side of the family. Black trousers, black shirts… black everything. She was fascinated with the colour, how you cannot make it of any of the prime colours… A thing of emptiness and mysteriousness.
That is what allured Narumi to the colour, and, the most strangest obsession with eating anything that is meat, and no vegetables. You could say she was the bad egg. A real trouble maker…
Now her sister, was different. More like her mother than anything. Though, she always sought to see the good in things, to help out anyone - even strangers. And was overly enthusiastic in meeting new people. Innocent, pure, intelligent, gentle… All traits that Natsumi had possessed is what caused the friction between the two siblings. The “ying yang” relationship. Natsumi hair was always in two pigtails, and wore nothing but cute and sometimes doll-like dresses. All, white. More like her mother, she too was a vegetarian, and loved the colour white with a passion. It too, a mysterious colour, which represents the heavens, the holy symbols of religion… More so, Angels.
“NO I am not! You are the meanie! Missy bossie boots!” Natsumi poked out her tongue and giggled.
“YOU! I’ll kill you!”
“Nyah, can’t catch me!”
And the two ran of the door, heading upstairs… And then noises of giggling and of cursing came with yet another pillow fight.
“Children we are leaving, Get your coats…”
“Still can’t catch me!”
“You little! I’ll ring your neck!”
“Hey no fair! Your cheating!”
“Can’t run when your floating off the floor can ya? HA!”
“I’ll leave you both with Maya tonight if you do not come down here.” The mother called out, through a half raised voice.
“NO! You can’t mother! She’s so weird, and old!”
Natsumi giggled, “Hehe, yeah she smells funny!”
“Then you better come here Natsumi.”
“Hey mom your getting fat.”
Natsumi gasped, “Narumi! Mommy is not fat! She is beautiful! Aren’t you mommy?”
“Your mom is fat is because she is pregnant Narumi.” A hand rested upon the slight bumped area. “We shall leave now, or we will be late.”

“There we go… All done, did that hurt?” Maya smiled gently as she retracted the empty needle from the bare arm of Natsumi who sniffed her tears away, wiping them and nodding her head, whimpering, “Y-yeah…”
Maya smiled and ruffled the girls hair with her hand, “Come on girl! Girl power! Be strong like your sister, look she didn’t cry!”
Natsumi nodded. “Okay…”
“She’s a cry baby. And a whimp, your asking to much Dr Ibuki.” Narumi was leant against the wall, staring up at the ceiling.
“Narumi…” Rei’s voice was slightly raised, though barely.
Narumi then glared to her sister, then back to the ceiling. “Sorry.” She breathed out, obviously not meaning it.
Natsumi on the other hand lit up and giggled. “Its okay sis! I am sorry for crying!”
Maya then sighed as she took up the side of Rei, and chuckled to herself. “They are nothing like you.”
“… Or Ikari either…” Rei added, which then tensed the subject.
Maya nodded, now feeling awkward since they were on that subject. “Don’t you…” Maya suddenly blurted, as if she was attempting to push out her question out. “Do you feel…”
“Guilty? Dr Ibuki?” Rei added, looking to her coldly.
Maya simply nodded, that stare Rei had given her sent a spasm of shivers down her spine. But though Rei was always something of a strange case for Maya. When the three original children were pilots, she could not help but notice how wrong it all was. But now… Maya was aiding in that very field now, years later…
“… At first I was not… But now… I doubt what I… What we have…”
“Mommy, me and Narumi are gonna go to the toilet.” Natsumi smiled and then turned following after her sister who left minutes before.
“Don’t leave Central Dogma!” She called out, suddenly, Rei’s voice was full of brimming emotion, Maya stood there almost gawking. And when Rei noticed the look, she then stated, as coolly as ever… “What is it, Dr Ibuki?”
The scientist then sat down in her chair and drank back some of her coffee which was now cold. “You are a good mother, Rei.”
Rei turned away, and lowered her head. “No… I am not.”
“What do you mean? Look at them, they’re fit, they’re mentally healthy… they look like you… Heck even Narumi is like you!” Maya smirked.
“But… their purpose…” Rei’s shoulder were shaking. “Has my old purpose… Followed me to this body… And into…”
Maya looked at Rei sceptically, “Don’t talk nonsense Rei…”
“… I gave birth to my children… Knowing to well they are going to be tools… Dolls… They are going to be something I hated… Something Gendo Ikari wanted me… to be…” Rei’s eyes widened, her hand moved to her mouth, her eyes clenched tightly. “All because of me…”
Maya was just stunned. Rei was opening up, and too late. Even she shed a tear for Rei, and now realised how deep this went… Rei loved Shinji and would do anything for him. But now, Shinji was using her just to make a weapon. A weapon made out of Rei’s own children…
“We can do nothing but follow orders…” Maya spoke out softly. “… But there is a line between the personal and the business… You just need to find that line Rei… Is using your children, worth the mission to make a new weapon?”
Rei turned, and looked to her, not sobbing, but literally and silently crying. Rei’s eyes half closed she moved towards the door. “… You are right… Dr Ibuki…” Rei stopped at the door, and then turned to look back at Maya. “Look after my children…”
“Of course, they’ll be here when you get back…” Maya looked quizzical.
“Thank you for this conversation.” Rei with nothing more than a small smile left.
“…Strange girl… I will never understand her.” Maya smiled a little, picking up her pen and just as it touched the paper something dawned suddenly. “Oh shit!” Quickly she stood up, sending her chair to the floor. She skidded out to look down the corridor screaming, “Rei!” And thus echoed back her plea.

“Where are we?” Natsumi hugged herself as she looked up at the giant foreboding black walls that towered on either side of them. “Narumi… I thought were going back to mommy?”
Her sister simply laughed, “Pfft, don’t be such a wimp! Come on, this is gonna be fun…” A malicious and mischievous smirk came to her lips as they now stopped in front of a very familiar rusted door.
“What is it?” Natsumi rested her hand on the crusty red surface.
“A door, idiot.” Narumi moved to the small dusty console and wiped the screen with her forehand. “Damn… We can’t get in…”
“Do we have to go in?” Her timid sister replied.
“Yes. Can’t you feel it?” Narumi then stepped back to stare at the door.
Her sister then blinked her eyes to her confusingly, “Feel what?”
“… I don’t know. Something… telling me to come here.”
Natsumi lowered her head, saying nothing, though she began to look guilty.
“You do, don’t you?” Narumi then held out her hands onto the door, spreading her fingers wide. “Come on… Lets open it.”
“Okay…” Natsumi’s curiosity got the better of her, and she too placed her hands onto the door. “But mommy said not to show anyone our-”
“No one here’s idiot.” Her evil twin then began to smirk, “Besides, if we had no mommy I would use my powers all the time, and whenever I wanted.” She sound bitter, and almost dead serious about her comment.
Her sister withdrew her hands from the door, “Narumi… How could you say that? You love mommy don’t you?”
There was a pause, “No.”
“… Your horrible,” Natsumi then placed her hands upon the door and they both simultaneously closed their eyes. The door shuddered, as it began to moan out it’s pain. The crusty rust flaking off as it began to bend inwards away from their hands. Slowly bending out away from them into a dome shape, until the door was ripped from the wall, and shot off past into the new darkness behind the door. Cold air rushed passed the girls…And a strange musky smell which caused both of them to hold their noses.
“Ew. What’s dat smell?”
“Probably you, bed wetter.” They both entered the darkness. They realised they were both on a platform; a very small one at that, they huddled close - Natsumi hiding behind her big sister. As they both looked from side to side. Either side was nothing but darkness. It was as if they were standing right above a giant Cavern.
“…This is scary… I wanna go see mommy now…”
“Oh shut!” Narumi’s words were cut, and she stood still, dead still.
“Sis? Sister what is…” Natsumi’s eyes widened, her head slowly titled up, they were staring right at a giant stomach. They slowly stepped back, squinting their eyes and both could not help but gasp… In fear. They cringed back.
“What the hell!” Narumi began to shake herself as Natsumi began to cry.
The Cavern deep and high, the darkness easily engulfed the girls and the platform in it’s evil. But what was In the middle of this giant pit, chained and hanging by it’s wrist was something white, and unmoving. And as the girls ran back down the platform, running away, the giant white Angel rose it’s head, the red eyes tearful and helplessly stared at the girls, it’s silent cry unheard.
