Chapter two: Goose chase

Ami frowned and with a sigh she walked up to Hotarus new home. She had a flight out to visit the high priestess when she finished her session for Hotaru. She knocked on the door and Haruka opened it with a smile. \"Hello Dr. Mizuno. Hotaru is in the living room.\" Ami stepped in and followed Haruka into the living room. Hotaru was seated on the piano bench playing a lovely beetoven song. \"She has improved hasn\'t she? She has a recital this evening.\" Haruka stated looking full of pride as anyone should have for their child.

\"That is lovely.\" Ami said. Hotaru stopped and turned to Ami giving her a week smile. \"I never could play any instruments myself.\" Michiru whispered something to Hotaru and the girl nodded getting up. \"Follow me.\" Ami led the girl into the library. They sat at the table. \"Did your parents let you play the piano.\"

Hotaru sighed. \"They we\'re teaching me to play the piano. My mom, she could play the most buetiful music that I had ever heared. When I closed my eyes it seemed the music took me somewhere as a buetiful land where I was alone and they couldn\'t get to me.\"

Ami sighed. Here we go again with them. I don\'t want here to freak out again. \"So did you have fun living with your parents?\"

Hotaru nodded. \"It was wonderfull.\" She stated. \"I didn\'t like moving around all the time, but my parents did it for me. It was hard for me to make any friends and so I gave up. It was okay my brother and my parents were my best friends. Every evening we would watch tv together and play video games. The weekands were wonderful. They took us to the carnival, or bowling we\'d always do something on the weekands. Everynight my mother would tuck me in and tell me that I would be protected.\"

Ami nodded. \"Why did you move around so much.\"

Hotaru sighed. \"Many reasons. One was because of my bruises, my parents never hurt me but the doctors and everyone eles refused to believe me. It was them, only them who hurt me. My brother, my parents they would never hurt me. They tried to protect me from Them.\" Hotaru said tears feeling in her eyes. She looked away from Ami. \"And you don\'t believe me do you? But They won\'t stop. They took my parents and They will come after me and They WILL GET ME THIS TIME AND NO ONE WILL HELP!\" she fell onto the floor crying and punching the floor.

Ami stood up and knelt beside Hotaru running her hands into Hotarus black strands of hair, suprised that Hotaru had such soft hair. She felt an urge to protect the girl. \"And how can we stop Them? How can I help if you won\'t tell me who They are?\"

Hotaru sat up rubbing her eyes and leaning against the doctor who had embrassed her. \"I don\'t know, no one knows. All I can do is run from Them.\" she whimpered. \"I can\'t describe Them, They\'re awful all I can do is run.\"

Ami sighed. \"I promise that I will do all I can to protect you.\"

Hotaru looked at her with a sorrowful expression. \"How can you protect me if you do not believe me?\"

Ami hugged Hotaru again. \"I never break a promise. I will do all I can to protect you.\" she said and let the girl cry herself to sleep.

Ami frowned three hours later looking at her notebook and then at the large temple in front of her. This was where the priestess lived. Ami walked walked up to the huge doors and knocked. \"I knew that you would come here.\" A voice said. Ami jumped and turned to see a young woman dressed in priestess clothes with long black hair to her ankles. Her purple eyes stared into Amis eyes. It unerved Ami it was like the priestess was looking into her soul. \"You have come here to ask about Hotaru Tomoe right?\"

Amis eyes widened. \"How did you know?\" she couldn\'t help but to ask.

\"I know a lot of things.\" The priestess said. \"Call me Rei and follow me.\" Ami followed the priestess into the temple and into a large kitchen. \"You haven\'t eaten today I am sure you\'re hungry. Sit down.\" Ami did and discovered food was already on the table.

\"You really were expecting me.\" Ami said slightly astounded.

Rei nodded. \"Yes I was. You should believe the girl she is telling the truth a fifteen year old like her would not lie. She is terrified of Them. I told their parents to leave to protect the girl because They knew she was here. They are tracking her down and it won\'t be long before They try to get her again.\"

Ami suddenly felt her appetite going away. \"How can I help her Rei? I do not even know who They are.\"

Rei motioned to the food. \"Eat, you need strength to help her against them. You have the gift to, you have never used it so They do not know of you. They are after one other a young girl with pink hair.\"

Amis eyes widened. \"What gift are you talking about? Why aren\'t they after you?\"

Rei smiled. \"I am pshycic but that is all I do not have the gift that they are looking for. You do.\"

Ami shook her head. \"No. Who are They.\"

Rei chuckled. \"They are not from around here.\" She closed her eyes and then looked fearfully at Ami. \"We have talked about it to much. They know that someone with the gift is close. You have to leave NOW.\" she shouted. Ami ran out of the temple and all the way to the airport.

Ami sighed leaning agains the cushioned seat of the plane. I must be going crazy. I can\'t believe I believed that priestess. I have never done anything out of the oridinary. But she said that I did not use the gift yet. The whole thing had shaken Ami and she looked out the window unable to drift back to sleep. She did eat. She felt the priestess was right that she needed her strength. At least to help the girl.

Hotaru cried out in her sleep, causing Michiru and Haruka to run into the room she was shaking violently. Michiru shook her causing the girl to awaken. She was cavered in sweat and had red liquead running down her shoulder. \"Get the first aid kit.\" Michiru said and Haruka ran out. \"Sweetheart what happened.\"

\"They are after me again.\" Hotaru stated. \"Please get Dr. Mizuno, she said that she would protect me. Please.\" Michiru nodded and hugged the girl.
