Fight between Allies
~Normal~
Goku and Gojyo sat in the abandoned hallway, guarding the door to Hakkai’s room. It had been no short of hell convincing Hakkai to come back to the inn to recuperate. After Gojyo had burst through the door, only wanting to ease his worry of Hakkai, it had gone down hill from there. He shied away from him and tried to get away. Hakkai had tried to force Gojyo out of his room with soft promises about how he was fine. It was understandable really. He had been hurt and the natural thing for a person to do is chase away anyone who tries to come near them while they are in that state.
“Do you think he’ll be okay?” Goku asked his friend, rubbing the back of his neck.
“It’s hard to tell. We just have to have patience.” Gojyo explained calmly, eyes closed and head back.
“That’s easy for you to say.” Goku snorted, glaring at him.
“What do you mean by that exactly?” Gojyo asked, lifting his head to look at Goku.
“Dammit, he’s like a brother to me! How can I be calm when someone went and did that to him?! You wouldn’t understand! You guys are okay with leaving each other to die! I wish I could’ve protected him! Even if it made him sad I did!” Goku yelled at him, disgusted with his attitude towards the whole thing.
Gojyo said nothing, just kept silent. Goku grew angrier at his silence. He grabbed Gojyo and pulled him up by the collar.
“Why don’t you say something like you always do? ‘Stupid monkey.’ ‘You shouldn’t worry, he’ll be fine.’ So where is it?” he smirked at him, dropping him to the floor.
“Hakkai isn’t dying. You act as if he is.” Gojyo replied quietly.
“This is worse than dying though. He might want to die now. But of course, you wouldn’t understand that. You’re too stupid and ‘good looking’ for suicide. You’re too moronic for suicide. You’re too detached from the whole thing to think about suicide! You’re too much like Sanzo when we have problems like this. You two are really perfect for each other.” Goku scoffed.
“I made a promise not to blow it out of proportion . If I kill myself or die like this, I will be hated for that. You’re right, though. I am too detached and would never dream of suicide to solve my problems. Maybe that’s what makes this life easier for me.” He said quietly, returning to her previous position.
Goku realized the impact of his words then. He sat down and remained quiet for a while.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean say that. I’m…. I’m just worried about him okay.” Goku whispered, humbling himself.
“It’s alright. We just got to be patient with him. We need to be here if he needs to talk about something.” Gojyo smiled at him, taking no offense to his outbursts.
“I just want him to go back to his normal, cheerful self. I just want to see him smile again.” He sighed, holding his head in his hands.
“ I’m sure he’ll be back to normal in no time.”
The older man offered him an easy grin, taking his hand and squeezing it gently. Goku smiled back weakly, trying to hold himself together, if only for the sake of his friend and brother.
In reality, Gojyo was shaken by everything and prayed silently in his head for Hakkai to be safe. He was sickened at himself for the things he was saying, even if it was for the sake of Goku.
The two sat in silence, ready to aid Hakkai if he woke from horror-ridden dreams.
