I still don't own most of these characters. If you are concerned about Eli's existence in this saga, then by all means read on. As for the lack of lemons, be patient, they're coming.

"How are we going to get out of here without causing the cave to come down on us?" Spinner asks looking at the wall of rock blocking him and his master.
"My brother thinks that he can suffocate me in his former prison. He'll have to do better than that if he wants to get rid of me." Eli says and the wall of rock starts to shake and then explodes outward. Once the dust settles, the two am urge to find Sian waiting patiently for them.
"Well, my dear brother has managed to get himself out of yet another jam. How does the great Clow Reed do it?" Sian asks with sarcasm evident in his voice.
"What is your plan this time and how did you escape?" Eli asks cooly.
"You might have noticed that the chain was not broken by magic. I've got a new ally and he was the one that freed me. I've also reclaimed the cards that you sealed away."
"You're going to use them against Sakura?"
"The attacks I have planned will wear the group out and then they'll have to face a threat that they couldn't even imagine."
"You are making it seem like you and your ally are two separate enemies then you'll attack together in an attempt to destroy them?"
"You could be right, but by the time you recover from this battle you'll be too late to save them."
"Don't think that you'll run all over me just because I'm only a half reincarnation, Sian." Eli says and casts the first spell. Knowing it was coming, Sian moves out of the way and returns with a counter attack. Being younger than Sian allows Eli to move out of the way easily. As the two fight on, Spinner watches on and waits. His master had given him specific instructions not to get directly involved in the battle. He was to be the one to carry Eli out of here if he were injured in victory or defeat.
"You haven't lost a step in your advanced age brother." Eli says trying to get a rise out of his brother.
"I thought you wouldn't be as strong as you are being only a half reincarnate, dear brother." Sian says throwing another spell at Eli.
'This is going to take more out of me than I thought. Why hasn't he used the void card on me? He probably wants me to see his final victory before he kills me. Kero, Yue, help to protect her. I don't think that Lee is going to make much of a difference this time.' Eli thinks as he fires off another spell.
***
He had hoped that Sian Reed would stay in his frozen prison in that cave that Clow had left him in. Kero paces up and down the coffee table as he had allowed Sakura and Lee to fill in Josh and Wulf about the past adventures that they had been through. He had added his two cents in now and again, but he was trying to prepare himself for an explanation that he himself had thought would never come. While the group had battled the enchanted balls, Kero had tried to find the source, but he was unsuccessful. Feeling all eyes on him, Kero knew that he had run out of time.
"The source of the magic that the two of you felt yesterday was of Clow's brother, Sian Reed." Kero starts as he notices Yue's angry look and how Lee bit his lip. "Sian is the younger brother of Clow's. His ambition and his hatred for Clow have twisted him into a dark and very dangerous mage. Clow, not having the heart to kill Sian, incased him in a block of ice and created a magical chain to be placed around the ice. This combination has held him until now. I understood why Clow didn't kill him, but I don't think that we should take the chance of him escaping again if he gets free again." Kero finishes seeing that Yue was nodding in agreement.
"I'm guessing that Leo is working for him?" Yue asks.
"Yes, but I don't think he was the one that freed Sian. Why would a vampire that is apparently that strong would connect himself to Sian?" Kero asks.
"He's probably just an unusually strong servant. He has the power, but he doesn't have the brains in order to come up with the plans in order to get the job done. With Ethel's blood running threw those undead veins, Leo, or whatever his true name is, is even more dangerous." Wulf says starting to realize just what was going on around here.
"All right stuffed animal, why would he attack us?" Lee asks glaring at Kero.
"I can't be totally sure about that. Killing off the legacy of Clow's would be the best guess." Kero responds.
"What about the rouge cards, Kero?" Yue asks glaring at Kero for forgetting such a detail.
Kero's eyes widen in horror then quickly returned to their normal size. "He might have gotten out by himself, but I don't think Sian could have broken the seal on the container that's holding those cards."
"Rouge cards?" Lee says gritting his teeth.
***
Eli was trying to calm his breathing in order to make sure that his cover wouldn't be blown. He had taken cover behind a large rock as he waited for Sian to get in the general area. Hearing footsteps, Eli stretches out his senses and feels Sian's fiery aura approaching.
"Closer...closer...closer...and...now!" Eli quietly says as the large rock starts a violent path of destruction towards Sian. The dark mage barely moves out of the way, but that was what Eli wanted him to do. A spell crashes into Sian's chest forcing his body to head for the ground.
"Clever, very clever brother. What do you do for an encore?" Sian spits out sardonically.
"I'll freeze your body and then I'll repair my chain. Then I'll wait for your ally and eliminate him or her." Eli says approaching Sian.
"I don't think so." the dark mage says and like a rattlesnake, Sian fires off a strong enough spell to knock Eli out.
***
"The rouge cards that Yue reminded me about," Kero says shooting a death glare at his brother, "were cards left out of the final deck. These cards were too powerful and or dangerous to integrate because Clow was afraid that they would get free if the seal of the book were to be broken. However, Sian managed to steel all of them plus two additional cards that Clow was going to put in the final deck." Kero explains now sitting down.
"What cards were taken from the final deck?" Sakura asks.
"Healing and invisible," Yue answers.
"Our old master never understood why Sian had taken those two. it might just have been Sian showing Clow that he could take any of the cards whenever he liked. Unless we don't know something that Sian does then we don't need to worry about the rouge cards."
***
He could feel that someone was moving his body. He opens his eyes to see the world in a blur.
"Spinner?" Eli barely manages to say through the pain that his body was racked with.
"I'm getting us home, master." Spinner replies.
"The chain, did you..."
"It's still in your pocket. After Sian knocked you out, he teleported away."
"That was foolish. Am I being too soft on him Spinner?"
"Brothers should not fight to the death. Unfortunately, it appears that Sian is pushing the issue."
"It'll take me a while to heal up. By that time, Sian's master plan may have been executed and both Lee and Sakura will be sent to the next life."
"We'll have to have faith that they can hold on until you can get back to Readington."
***
"What was that you said about the odds of us finding a couple of mages?" Wulf asks as he and Josh leave Lee's place after the exchange of stories.
"The universe must be ignoring the laws of probability. I'm going to have to be careful what I say in the future if this keeps up. Is it just me or are you and Meilin going to act like oil and water whenever you are in the same room?" Josh asks.
"We'll settle our differences this Saturday at my place."
"How did you get her to agree to that?"
"Her pride is her weakness. I used that to get the home field advantage."
"Are you sure that you're not using this...."
"Don't you go there, or should I remind the genius that he was looking at Madison for most of the afternoon." Wulf says and Josh's face does its best impression of a tomato.
"As a scientist I'm suppose to believe in the theory of evolution, but I have found something that may change my viewpoint. There is no conceivable way that Madison's perfection could be the result of evolution. I'm beginning to believe that the only way such a perfect being could exist is if she was created."
"Wulf shakes his head at Josh and the two split off to go to their homes.
***
"Master, you don't look like you faired well against Sian." Ruby notes looking at Eli who was now laying on his bed.
"I'm not beaten yet, Ruby. Once I get back on my feet we are heading back to Readington." Eli says quietly.
"Can they...?" Ruby starts to ask but is cut off by Eli.
"Those two can handle the rouge cards, plus I'm getting the feeling that they won't be alone in this fight. Now leave me, I need my rest." Eli says and the two guardians leave.
***
"I don't know what you were thinking by getting Drumhilde and Karthing riled up, but you will not move against any of our enemies before I tell you to do so." Sian says to Akurax who was shaking from his master's fury.
"Yes master," Akurax says and Sian dismisses him.
"Now, nightmare card, I free you to terrorize the inhabitants of Readington!" Sian says slamming his staff down on the fiery red card and it vanishes into the night.
***
Stay tuned for "Sleeplessness in Readington". If you're reading this whiteshirt, I apologize if Josh was a little too mushy in this part.
