Akiyuki watched Noire pounce onto a toy and smiled a bit. Noire was just too cute. It was a few weeks since the kitten had wandered into his house and it was nearly time to go back to the store. Akiyuki was actually looking forward to going to the pet store this time. Hopefully, Nu could help him even further.
“Well, I am glad you like your toys,” he said, nodding a little bit, his head canted to the side some as he watched. Reaching over, he took his laser pen and turned it on, so that a red dot appeared on the ground. Noire blinked purple eyes at it, his ears falling back on his head. He stuck his small butt in the hair, his tail flicking slowly. He carefully stalked after the dot before he pounced on it. Akiyuki turned off the light, so it wouldn’t be on his paws. When Noire moved his paws, his head cocked to the side as he sniffed at the bare carpet.
Akiyuki laughed, shaking his head as he teased Noire with the laser pointer for a few more moments. “Just too cute!” he said, putting down the pen before picking up the small black cat. He nuzzled his cheek against the kitten’s head, playfully.
He had learned that small pets were allowed in the apartment complex, as long as the animal didn’t make anything smelly. Akiyuki was happy for that. He could keep Noire without worry. Since Noire rarely used the litter box. He always wanted outside when he had to use the bathroom. He only used the litter box when Akiyuki was at work or sleeping.
Noire licked at Akiyuki’s cheek before nuzzling a bit against him, a purr loud from his chest. Akiyuki smiled a bit at him, rubbing and petting his kitten gently. “Let’s go to the pet store. You are running low on food. No need for you to starve. And maybe we can get you a nice collar and get you a nametag. So if you get lost, someone can hopefully return you.” Noire answered with a loud mew.

Setting Noire in the seat at the top of the cart, Akiyuki pushed inside. Unconsciously, his eyes darted around, trying to find the boy who had helped him last time, Nu. He smiled when he saw Nu in the checkstand and waved at him before walking over to the cat food. Hopefully, Nu would be able to help him again.
Looking over at the food, Akiyuki grabbed some of the food that he had noticed Noire really liked. He glanced around and spotted the blond kid walking over to them with a grin. “Did you find a name for your cat yet?” he asked, giving Noire a soft pet before standing closer to Akiyuki.
“Mhm. I decided on Noire. I like it. It’s different and I don’t think I’ve heard it on a pet before,” Akiyuki said with a grin like he was proud of his achievement. Nu laughed softly.
“I like it too. It fits him perfect. Are you finding everything alright?” Nu asked, glancing into his basket at the few cans of food.
“Well, I was wondering if you do costume cat collars. I think Noire needs a name tag, just in case he gets lost,” Akiyuki said, unable to do anything but smile at the boy. He was just too cute; even if he was underage.
“Let’s hope he never gets lost, but just in case, we do,” Nu said, nodding a little bit. “Over here. There’s a little machine. A tag is 500 yen to make. There are shapes to choose from and fonts as well. It’s over here,” he said and motioned Akiyuki to the machine. He stood to the side as Akiyuki slipped 500 yen into it and the screen lit up.
Akiyuki smiled and chose the option for cat tags. A screen displayed the different shapes that he could choose from. A heart, a square, an oval, a circle, a star, an arrow, and a fish…He wasn’t too fond of the square or the star because of the pointy edges. Smiling, he decided on a heart.
“I wouldn’t choose the ones with the pointy edges either. It’s a little scary,” Nu murmured as he watched Akiyuki type his address in a nice looking font that was easy to read, but didn’t look too plain. Nu knew he was being bold now, but he looked up at Akiyuki with his head to the side a bit. “Hey…do you want to meet up somewhere that’s not here or something?” he asked curiously, blinking innocently.
Akiyuki glanced over at Nu for a moment before looking back at the screen with a small smile. “Even if I am almost twenty-one?” he asked curiously, though he would be lying if he wasn’t happy with the invitation.
Nu shrugged his shoulders. “Did I say that we would be having some hot sex?” he asked, raising his eyebrows at him with a small smile. “I don’t care if you are over twenty-one or whatever. I’m sixteen, I turn seventeen in a couple months. I just want to hang out with you. Get to know you some. And then we’ll talk about the hot sex.”
Akiyuki had to laugh at that. “Yeah, sure. Why not? I don’t mind hanging out with you without the hot sex,” he said, shaking his head a little bit at him with a small grin. “Well, there’s my address. Go get a piece of paper real quick so you can write it down.”
Nodding, Nu walked off and went to one of the empty registers and got a piece of paper from the drawer and pulled a pen from his pocket. He walked back onto the machine and wrote down his phone number and address. “When’s your next day off?”
“Saturday,” Akiyuki said, creating his tag and after a couple moments, it popped out onto the little cup holder. Grinning, Akiyuki picked it up. “Cute. Now I need a collar.”
“Oh. I got Saturday off too!” Nu said, nodding a little bit. “They are this way, come on,” he said and walked off, expecting Akiyuki to follow him and was pleased to find that when he looked over his shoulder, Akiyuki was indeed following. “What color collar?”
“Well, maybe black or white.”
“Not hot pink?”
“Nah, I think he won’t appreciate that much,” Akiyuki said with a small laugh and shook his head.
“Well, I think black would blend in nicely with his fur. White might be a bit much,” Nu murmured, stopping at all the collars. “And a small size, since he’s so little.”
“No diamonds or sparkles,” Akiyuki murmured, shaking his head a little bit at Nu as he looked over at the collars. “Here,” he said, reaching for a simple black collar. It didn’t cost too much either.
“That works. Do you need anything else? Have you gotten a scratch post for it? Or a bed?” Nu asked curiously, cocking his head a bit at him.
“No, I haven’t, but he doesn’t need a bed, he sleeps with me,” Akiyuki said, shrugging his shoulders a bit as Nu nodded.
“My cats sleep with me too.”
“How many do you have?”
“Three,” Nu said, smiling and leading Akiyuki toward the register to get checked out, no doubt Akiyuki had other things to do besides hanging out at the pet store with the boy. “So, Saturday…around noon?”
“Works for me,” Akiyuki said, paying with cash this time and smiled at Nu. “I’ll see you in a few days then.”
“Okay, have a great day, Akiyuki!” Nu said, smiling and waving goodbye as Akiyuki walked out of the store.
“Well, Saturday should be fun, huh? Maybe Nu will bring his kittens over so you can play with them,” he said, smiling and petting his cat as he loaded everything in the car and drove on home, not noticing the sudden bad mood his cat was in.
