"Great game," said a familiar voice behind him a few seconds after he had excited the locker room. Only slightly startled, Daisuke turned around to beam at his senpai Taichi. Who grinned back and offered a high five. "the team really has it together this season, you guys are sure to win district this year," he added.

Daisuke laughed and gave Taichi-senpai the awaited high five, "We've worked really hard this summer, it'll be disappointing if we don't at least make it to Nationals," he says grinning bigger and bigger as he notices that the older boy came alone. No Ishida to tag along, Daisuke couldn't stand the guy and how he treated Taichi-senpai.

They stand there for a moment and talk about the game, Taichi-senpai suggesting things the team could work on and the amazing plays that had happened. Daisuke was in a state of bliss, since this was the first time that he'd been able to hang out with Taichi-senpai alone in a long time. He couldn't help but wish this sort of thing happened more often.

"So how has school been going?" Daisuke makes sure to ask during a lull in their conversation of Daisuke's team. It wouldn't do to allow them to talk about Daisuke alone, plus he was curious as to what his senpai had been up to.

Taichi-senpai looks a little surprised at the change of conversation but soon a slow and sheepish grin pulls his lips up and a wide calloused hand goes to rub at the back of his neck, "Uh, challenging?" his laugh is strained and a little self conscious.

Daisuke however only smiles encouragingly, and pats his senpai on his shoulder, "You only started the new term, it'll get better once you get back into things. You did so well last term that I know you'll kick ass this time too!" he says, trying to show his support.

His efforts are rewarded with a more at ease smile directed toward him, and his senpai relaxing again. "And how is school going for you?" asked Taichi-senpai, clearly trying to turn the tables.

Daisuke merely grins "It's going good for a change, but that's because I'm studding for exams this year," he confesses. Taichi-senpai looks a little surprised, and Daisuke finds himself blundering out in a joking manner, "But only cause Ken-kun would never let me live it down if I don't get in my first choice for University."

"Oh? And what's your first choice?" his senpai asks, a curious look on his face. Daisuke would rather die than answer, seeing as he wants to go to the same school as Taichi-senpai, ignoring the fact that there was a very slim chance of him getting in.

"Ah! I'm suppose to meet the team for celebration dinner!" he thankfully remembers, "why don't you come, Senpai? I know the team would be happy to see you again!" He grins at the older boy hoping that it looks innocent enough and just pleading enough. Daisuke does want him to join in the festivities.

Taichi-senpai looks unsure, he looks at his wrist watch, before pulling out his phone. Daisuke can't help the frown that takes over his earlier cheerfulness. Senpai was going to call the jerk, Ishida.

"Hold on a sec," Taichi-senpai tells Daisuke as he presses a few buttons, he steps away as he brings the device to his ear. There is a pause of silence before Daisuke can hear a mute ringing and then someone answering in a gruff voice. Annoyed the younger boy drowns out the conversation and takes out his own cell, just in case.

It's when Taichi-snepai's voice becomes aggravated and angry that Daisuke begins to feel uncomfortable. He decides it's best to step further down the hall and peek at some art work hanging on the wall, giving the other boy some privacy.

He's trying to figure out if the blob of green is a frog or just a blob, when Taichi-senpai is suddenly next to him studding the picture just as intently. "Is that a frog?" the older boy asks and Daisuke is laughing achingly, deliriously happy.

"Huh? What's so funny?" Taichi-senpai is asking, confused but there is a smile teasing the corners of his lips. Daisuke tries to explain but all he can do is giggle.

Laughing himself, Taichi-senpai grabs Daisuke's arm and leads him down the hall. "Come on you goof," he says, with what Daisuke hopes is a found look on his face, "your team is waiting."

Daisuke suddenly sober stops them at the door, "You're coming?" he asks with a questioning look. He has little hope, since whenever Taichi-senpai fights with Ishida, Senpai almost always bails out.

Sure enough, Taichi-senpai gets an uncomfortable and his eyes are riveted to anything but Daisuke, "Um, I can't," he licks his lips, "I have something else going on."

Feeling an odd combination of pity and annoyance, the younger boy nods and says, "Hey, no problem," he waves a hand and shrugs, "we can do something another time." Daisuke knows that he doesn't sound convincing at all, but he really doesn't care anymore.

Taichi-senpai is looking at him now, a frown wrinkling his brow and a flush to his cheeks and neck, "You know what, it isn't that important," is said in a rush and the both are surprised at what came spilling out of chapped, unsure lips. The older boy licks his lips and looks to the side, clearly still unsure of his out burst.

Daisuke finds himself coping the gesture, his tongue peeking out and sliding moisture along tingling nerves. "Uh, if you're sure," he trails off, stupidly giving his Senpai a way out.

A determined look set's to the older boy's jaw and eyes. "I'm sure," Taichi-senpai says, and he's opening the door, "let's go." He’s looking straight at Daisuke, though there still a little doubt lingering it isn’t as strong as just a moment ago.

Daisuke can't keep back the mile wide smile off his face as he says, "Ok." He takes a moment to think that something has changed. That Taichi-senpai changed in some major way right before his own eyes. But right now he could care less, and besides there is no turning back.

“I better call Coach and let him know there is going to be one more coming,” Daisuke says as they head away from the school’s campus. Taisuke nods as he pulls out his phone again, and starts to send an email. Daisuke knows that it’s for Ishida and telling the grumpy young man that Taisuke was bailing out or whatever they had agreed on earlier.

Coach answers a second later, asking where he was, Daisuke grins and admits that he is with Taichi-senpai and they are on their way. Couch ‘hmms’, and tells him they need to hurry over before the rest of the team eats all the food. Daisuke grins and says ‘yes sir!’ before hanging up.

Senpai is looking at him again with that look, and the younger boy starts to feel a little uncomfortable, but oddly pleased as well. It is as if Daisuke is all that Taichi-senpai can see, and it is a wonderful feeling. The moment is ruined when Taichi-senpai’s phone rings, startling the both of them.

It is obvious who it is, but Daisuke is surprised that Taichi turns off his phone and slides it back in his pocket with no regret. He merely smiles at the younger boy and tells him ‘It wasn’t important.’ Daisuke decides it is best to let it go and changes the conversation to a new video game that has come out.

It isn’t that long before they arrive at the little restaurant that their Coach always treats to them after they’ve won a game. They had talked the whole way there, laughing and joking. The good cheer between them made it hard for Daisuke to step into the little eatery and have to lose that to a group of rowdy boys.

He doesn’t realize that he’s stopped until Taichi-senpai is in front of him a worry wrinkling his features, “Hey, are you ok?” the older boy asks, and Daisuke’s heart skips a beat. He was reminded again of his feelings and it makes the ache growing in him swell that much more.

“Um,” he can’t finds that he can’t hold it in and blurts out, “I don’t want to share you with them.” Daisuke feels his cheeks, ears, and neck heat up. He is sure that he could rival a tomato with how red he must look. Taichi is looking at him, his own face a little pink.

“Oh, well we can do something after we eat, since I don’t have classes tomorrow. I mean since we haven’t hung out, just the two of us in a while.” Taichi-senpai suggests as the two of them upwardly stand in front of the restaurant’s door.

Bashfully Daisuke nods his head, “Ok,” he says, wishing for a car to run off the road at hit him out of his misery. Yet at the same time he basks in this happiness that Taichi-senpai fills him with, that the older boy wants to spend time with him as well.

“Good, now lets get in there before they eat everything,” Taichi-senpai says, a hand coming to rest on Daisuke’s back, just below his shoulder blade, and leads the pink cheeked younger boy into the building.

The senior’s of the team cheered when Taichi-senpai came up to the table, most of them leaping up from their chairs, crying out ‘Kamiya-senpai!’ at the top of their lungs. The staff merely laughs and hands the two boys a menu and asks what they’d like to drink; nearly drowned out by overly excited boys.

Taichi-senpai takes it all in stride, ordering his drink and giving his hellos to old club and team members. They spend most of their time talking about games and the awesome scores they had accomplished since the older boy had left the team and the school. But all too soon it was time to go home and with full bellies and cheerful smiles they left and went their separate ways. Coach telling ‘Kamiya, not to be such a stranger’ before escorting the younger members down the street.

After a till bit of a debate on to where to go next, the two boys find themselves going to a late night arcade, Daisuke calling home to let his family know where he was and with who. Which didn’t really reassure his sister, only because she still remembered all the trouble Taichi-senpai would get them in when they were still little kids. She had demanded to talk to the older boy, and made him promise to stay out of trouble.

“Yeah, I won’t get Daisuke-kun arrested or let him drink. I promise, Jun or you can kick . . . Or murder me painfully. Ok, bye,’ Taichi-senpai graciously took the verbal beating and amused smile contradicting the seriousness lacing his voice. After hanging up he hands his phone back to Daisuke.

“She hasn’t changed a bit,” he says clearly amused and goes into the arcade. Laughing when Daisuke follows, mumbling ‘Sadly’.

They had been playing various racing games and even tried their hands at shooting hoops before deciding to leave that to Takaru, and moved on to a shooting game. Daisuke being excited that involved shooting zombies with machine guns.

It wasn’t until they had reached the third level that Daisuke noticed Taichi-senpai strained comments about how hot the girls were. Annoyed and uncomfortable Daisuke waited until the next level to turn to his older friend.

“You don’t have to pretend with me, Senpai,” he says looking over at the older boy’s face glowing in the screen’s neon lights, “Just be yourself.”

Confused Taichi-senpai looks over at him, “Huh, what are you talking about?”

Sighing and now wishing he had started this in a less crowded place Daisuke clarified, “I know you’re gay and with Ishida-san.” There the cat was out of the bag.

However Taichi-senpai looked terrified, he was slowly backing away and looking franticly around. “W-what? Don’t make things up Daisuke!” He was upset and Daisuke felt terrible.

Scared and sad that he had upset the other boy so much, Daisuke step forward and grabbed his senpai’s arm before the older boy could make a run for it. “I didn’t mean for it to come out like that! I meant to say that it’s ok and I don’t care, that I won’t tell,” his words weren’t coming out right and were stringing together, but Taichi-senpai no longer looked like he was going to run.

Seeing this, Daisuke took a deep breath, “I just wanted to let you know that you can be yourself with me, cause I’m the same and won’t judge you. Cause . . .” he trails off, scared that he almost admitted what had been had burned into his heart for so long.

Taichi-senpai though no longer trying to run is still upset, and hisses, “Cause what Daisuke?” It was clear that he was still panicking and the crowd around them wasn’t helping.

“Um, lets go some where more private, this wasn’t the best place to bring this up,” Daisuke admits ashamed and upset, this wasn’t how it was suppose to go. Scared that once they were some where with less people that Senpai was going to punch him or worse tell him to fuck off and leave him alone forever. Shaking he grabs his sport’s bag and leads the way out.

He knows where there is a little karaoke place and leads the two of them there. Daisuke just wants to run away or turn around and beg Taichi-senpai to forgive him and forget he ever said anything. But that wasn’t how a leader acts and he has to face what he’s started.

When they arrive, Taichi-senpai asks “Karaoke Palace?”

Daisuke doesn’t look at him as he mumbles, “It’s cheap and sound proof.”

“Oh,” is the only thing said after that.

Daisuke pays for an hour in a private booth and lets the young girl dressed in some type of cossplay cat girl outfit show them the way. Not much is said, cat girl the one that talks the most. Explaining the rules and asks if they’d like to order any drinks, they decline and she reminds them they have an hour before walking away.

They walk in and Daisuke drops his bag on one of the little chairs in the room, he can hear Taichi huff a bit before sitting down, a groan echoing in the room. He knows that he has to say something but his lips feel like they are glued shut and no sound is coming, he’s trapped, panic is starting to settle in. This wasn’t such a good idea, he reminds himself.

“What is this all about, Daisuke?” Taichi-senpai finally breaks the silence, obviously tired of waiting for Daisuke to start explaining himself.

“I know about you and Ishida-san, that you’re together and . . .” he pauses and finally turns to look his senpai directly in the eyes, “gay.”

A glare is sent back and Daisuke shits like a child caught being naughty, “You’ve said that already,” Taichi-senpai growls and stands up to stalk over to the scared boy. He leans in and asks, “What I’m asking is why you had to bring it up at all?”

Daisuke is slightly relieved that Taichi-senpai isn’t denying that he is gay or sadly, with Ishida. “I, it’s just that I hate it when you pretend to be someone you aren’t. You don’t have to fake that you are some normal straight guy! You shouldn’t have to, I just want you to be you. That’s why.”

Taichi-senpai blinks and backs away, slipping into the cushions and resting his hands in his head. He mumbles something that Daisuke can’t make out. They stay that way for a while in silence.

Not liking that his friend, the person he likes more than anything is clearly upset, Daisuke takes a leap and admits, “I’m gay too.”

His hands fist up and clench, Daisuke can feel his jaw clenching up and the floor threatening to drop from under him. Taichi-senpai is looking up at him a shocked look on his face and he feels his feet marching up to the other boy. Leaning down he presses his lips to slack ones and pulls away seconds later.

“I like you a lot Taichi,” He finds himself confessing and wondering not for the first time ‘what the hell am I doing?’ Daisuke steps back and watches the shock and confusion spreads over the face he finds so dear.

He can truthfully say he is greatly surprised when a look of guilty happiness replaces the confusion and Taichi-senpai is reaching up and pulling Daisuke down awkwardly into his lap and presses their lips together before slipping his tongue into Daisuke’s gasping mouth.

Daisuke is surprised and may be a little guilty, but mostly he’s extremely happy as he sighs wrapping his arms around strong shoulders and presses himself into his senpai’s chest kissing back.
