....How much of it was your fault.
-------Chapter 2--------
Kitsune awoke as the sun began to set. He carefully slipped out of the young Vulpix’s sex, as not to disturb her peaceful sleep. Spotting a towel in the corner, he picked it up with his maw, and using both his mouth and his paws to control the absorbent cloth, he wiped up the mess he and Kaiyla had made. There was no need for her owners to know she had mated. Casting back to its corner, he turned to his dozing mate….was she really his mate yet? They had done the act, but he knew it went deeper than that. His species mate for life. He gently picked her up by the scruff and set her down in her bed.
Looking around the room, he could feel the heat drain from it slowly as the sun slipped away. The room was concrete and hardy, made to withstand storms. Not only was it a spare room and a research lab for the male occupant of the house, but it was a shelter from the ruthless thunderstorms that ravaged the area. A deep, but small alcove in the far wall had tinder on its floor, and he gently set it alight to provide warmth through the cold night. Planting a kiss on Kaiyla’s head, he jumped out of the window, and off into the night.
The sun shone brightly through the window, making Kaiyla shift into a shallow sleep, and eventually, awakeness. She saw the smouldering remains of the fire, and smiled, knowing Kitsune must of done it. Yawning, she felt the dull ache between her legs. Sighing, she began to wash herself. Being mostly canine, it was not something she liked to do, but she didn’t want her owner seeing the dried semen in her fur. Once the musty liquid had gone, she ran over to her water bowl to take away the taste. Her owner had been in, and replenished her food. That was when Kaiyla realized it was noon, the sun must have been high to shine through the window directly. Looking at the luxury Pokechow (This one was “Kantoean Rattata and Gravy”, she noted) she dug in eagerly, hungry from last nights acts.
Last night….a warmth spread over her when she thought of it. She hoped Kitsune would come back. She was sure he would. She finished her meal, daintily licking the gravy from around her maw. She crawled back into bed to relieve the dull ache. She didn’t know how long she lied there, daydreaming, but the day passed uneventfully. As late noon drew close to dusk, a familiar, welcome pair of glowing red eyes met hers at the window. The golden canine slipped in gracefully as before.
He silently greeted her with a lick to her head, lying down on the floor next to her. She went to move her paw to his sheath, but he nudged her away “Not tonight. Your body is still weak from your first mating.” She looked slightly disappointed, but nodded. The next few moments passed in a comforting silence, till Kaiyla spoke meekly
“Kitsune…tell me about you. Where do you come from? What…what have you done? I’ve never really left the house and its garden…” He looked at her, a sad smile coming to his face.
“Lets start at the beginning, as we must. I was born in a litter of three, my parents were both Ninetales. Me and my brothers grew up in a quiet forest on the side of a volcano. Everything was this ghostly grey, and you felt like you were walking on air. Even though it polluted the rivers, it didn’t harm us. We have fire inside, ash is a product of it. We are fire. We spark, growing till we reach our peak, our brightest flame, and we die down into ash. Then there is no more. We lived like this, hunting the small Spinda that lived in the lower reaches of our ash-cloud forest, for three years. We’d long passed maturity by then, but we stayed. It was a happy, quiet life. Our parents died, one night, from old age. Me and my brothers were lost. We could fend for ourselves, sure, but now we were alone. After six months of grief, we decided we must find a mate. It was what they would’ve wanted. So we venture, far over the volcano, and we reach Kirran.” He sighed, deeply
“I wish the story could end there. Both my brothers, Phoenix and Crater, found mates quickly. Sisters, infact. One had evolved, Archangel, Phoenix’s mate, but Crater’s was still a Vulpix. Her name was Embellish. I still searched. I never felt right with any of the females I courted. One day, I was lying with Embellish and her pups. My brothers pups. He was out hunting, and I was guarding for him. And…She leaned over suddenly and kissed me, just as Crater returned. He blamed me. For five long years I remained in Kirran. Soon, Phoenix believed Crater, and my only living relatives, my only family, had turned their backs on me.” He stopped, drifting into a sad silence
“Please… Go on” Kaiyla said soothingly. He licked her.
“I remember it well. It was a stormy night, but only ash rained from the skies. The heat was incredible, the sticky, heavy air of the storm unsettling. I was lying in my nest, quietly, when Crater burst in. He screamed at me, calling me ever name over the sun, and lunged. I jumped up, but he pinned me to the ground. Seeing him go for my throat, I knew I had no choice. I lunged for his too…
And I will always regret that mine hit first.
I stood there, shocked. Before long, bloodlust set in, and when Phoenix found me over the dead body of our brother, I killed him too. At the time, without remorse. I left Kirran, and journeyed to find a mate. I turned ruthless and cold, feral and lusting the taste of blood. My darkest years. But one day, I went to go for a Pichu, and just stopped. All the anger, the hate, the bloodlust simply faded. I looked at the Pichu, nothing but sadness and emptiness filling me. The Pichu ran. And I was left to wander. Two years passed, I simply wandered, alone and incomplete.
Life doesn’t hurt till you think about how much things of changed, who you’ve lost along the way, and how much of it was your fault”

A/N: Based from a quote I found while trawling some image sites a while ago. I felt like it would fit Kitsune, a creature with so much left of his species lifespan, yet so hurt already. His journey became more than finding a mate. Eventually, it became finding a will to live. He's done so much wrong, in his dark years, yet Kaiyla is willing to listen, and to accept him for it.
Won't be much sheckshual sensation for a few chapters, but don't worry. Please, Rate, Review, and Enjoy!
