Chapter 3
++
“I can’t do this anymore. I think….this is it for me.”
“Oh my dearest, Please speak to me.”
Mina woke up within her dreams. She knew she was still a drift dreaming, because she felt at peace, and safe. Something she never felt when she was awake.
She looked around her surroundings to find herself within the great gardens of Eden.
“Wonderful! I fainted to death?!” she snarked as she got up only to topple over her dress. “Crap!” She looked down over herself, and noticed that she was dressed in Princess of Venus gown.
“There you are my dearest!” Mina heard from behind her.
She turned around to see a face she hadn’t seen in almost a millennia.
“Grandma is that you? Awe geez am I dead now?” Mina gasped.
Aphrodite only giggled as she quickly pulled Mina into her arms and held her tightly.
“Oh my dearest how I long to hold you in my arms! And brush your beautiful hair.” She gushed.
“Grandma I’m not a little girl anymore.” Mina sniffed as held tightly to the woman she loved the most. “Although without you brushing it, my hair hasn’t been what it used to be.”
“You’re still my dearest! And no descendent of mine is ordinary cute! We are beauteous breed!” Aphrodite said proudly as she wiped the tears from her granddaughters eyes. Making Mina laugh.
“So I’m here for good huh?” Mina said as she walked away from Aphrodite and looked along the paths around the gardens.
“Oh my dearest your not dead! I mean really.” Aphrodite said, as she waved her hand and to soft clouds appeared and she sat on one. “And this is only a dream. Your dream.”
“Really? My dream? Uh huh. Here I thought, my dreams would be a little bit more gray.” Mina responded, as she sat down on a cloud herself.
“My presence here is keeping those nasty feelings and thoughts of your heart & mind at bay.” Aphrodite said. “But I cannot dwell here for long. My dearest, and neither can our home planet.”
That brought Mina’s attention to her grandmothers face.
“I know I messed up! I’m sorry! I just-”
“Stop it right there!” Aphrodite said as she raised one hand to silence Mina. “Minako my dearest, I am not here to reprimand you. I know all that has happened. You need not apologize to me or anyone! You are your own woman now, and you have to make your own decisions. I will say that it pains my heart to see you have to struggle in such a way. But I know life has it’s struggles. And everyone must learn to see things thru. But my dearest,….you are not ordinary. You are extraordinary!”
“Well…thank you for that grandma. But I don’t feel it at times. But I’m getting better! I promise!” Mina countered.
“Your are a princess! The only true ruler left for our home world! Do not fall onto Serenity’s mechanisms! Yes, we must all secure the future for the moon & earth, but also for our worlds & our galaxy also! Everything must have it’s proper balance! And you my darling are not meant to do it alone!” Aphrodite explained.
“Pluto was only allowed to show you a portion of the future. The future holds a grander scheme for you all. Serenity and her daughter can do as they please, But I will not stand for it!”
“Uh…Grandma what do you mean?” Mina asked confused. Mina already knew of Aphrodite’s utter dislike of Queen Serenity’s idealism & certain views. She believed Queen Serenity was too narrowed minded. Mina never got involved in their quarrels, but Mina’s mother Cythera was very good friends with Serenity, much to Aphrodite’s dismay.
“Everything will work itself out my dearest! I’ll not leave you alone again! I have summoned you a protector!” Aphrodite grinned.
“Ah what?…Grandma really?” Mina snapped feeling a little put out. Yeah sure she screwed up. This being a monumental one of those times. But did she really need a bodyguard?
“Yes! And he will help you along what ever is ahead of you two.” she smiled happily.
“Us two? Grandma what did you do?” Mina said gritting her teeth.
“Mina!”
“Ah! Our little powder puff is calling! Please just trust our chosen one dearest. He will not fail you.” Aphrodite said sincerely.
“Chosen one? Chosen for what?” Mina asked as she noticed her surroundings were disappearing. Apparently she was waking up.
“Mina!”
“Chosen for you of course.” Aphrodite winked, as she faded away.
“Grandma!!” Mina shouted as she woke up sitting up in bed. “Chosen for me??…”
“Oh good your awake!” Artemis sighed rubbed against her hand purring. “We thought you were going to sleep the day away.”
“What?” Mina asked disoriented. She looked around the room and noticed that they weren’t in her small studio. It seemed like they were in presidential suite at the Hilton resort!!! “Where are we Artemis?”
“What the hell were you thinking burning the place to the ground?!”
“Is that Darien?” Mina asked as she climbed out of the kind sized bed. “This is major grand even for him!”
“That place was a complete dive! It needed to be purged from existence!”
That voice was a voice she didn’t remember. Well at least her mind didn’t. It was a deep, sexy voice, and boy did it give her chills. The good kind anyway.
“Dude! You can’t do that stuff! You know this. It’s called arson!” Darien explained.
Mina noticed she was wearing a plain white t-shirt, she grabbed a robe that was laying in the chair that was in the room. It was obviously belonged to a guy cause it was bulgy on her feminine frame.
“Bull shite!” The other male voice said.
Mina walked to the door, desperately wanting to put a face on the voice she was hearing.
“Darien at least he didn’t kill anyone! The big question is why was Mina in a place like that?” She heard Serena asked as she opened the door. And all eyes fell on her.
“Good question” Luna asked as she narrowed her eyes on Artemis.
“Princess! Your’re awake!” said the male about the same height as darien. Eyes like glaciers, hair snow white…..and damningly sexy!
“Omg! Is that Malachite?!” Mina shrieked. “Why isn’t he in your jewelry box or whatever?!….Princess?”
“Don’t look at me!” Serena said waving her hands. “He didn’t carry ME here.”
“Uh….Mal here hasn’t been a precious stone for a few years now. I just didn’t think that it mattered, to say anything since he was living a new life and all.” Darien said scratching the back of his head as Serena eye balled him.
“Venus. Tell me you are alright. Did that human rape you?! I will take you to the hospital right away!” Malachite said as he grabbed Mina’s hand, and looked her deep into the eyes.
Mina’s legs felt like jelly and she felt her face warm up. “Damn I’m blushing.”
“Your Venus symbol on your forehead is lighting up Mina!” Serena gasped.
“I…I…I…” Mina babbled. “Oh baby he’s soooo hot! What was the question again?” She felt her heart speed up. She slowly touched his chest and felt his heart-beat sync to catch up with her own.
“What the!”
“That’s how I found her. Thank the Goddess I did!” Malachite smiled as Mina touched his chest. He felt like his skin was on fire where she touched him.
“Back to my first question!” Serena asked, snapping the Mina out of her fog. “Mina what were you doing in a strip bar?”
Feeling confronted Mina removed herself from Malachite’s hands and walked towards Serena with conviction.
“None of your business!” Mina said as she walked out of the room. And then came back around obviously lost. “Where is the exit in this place?! It’s huge!”
“Mina, calm down. We really need to sort this stuff out.” Artemis said as he was walking beside her feet the whole time she was frantically looking for the front door.
“Nothing needs to be sorted out! I just need to get back home so I can go to school! I’m missing class already!” Mina said trying to get around Malachite whom decided to follow behind her also. “And please stop following me!”
“Well princess this is my home.” He smirked as he guided her back to the living room where Serena and Darien were standing in front of the television watching the news.
“Stop it with the princess crap! It’s Mina! Here on earth it’s just Mina, ok?” she puffed. Feeling her heart beat rapidly whenever he was within close proximity of him.
“As you wish.” He winked. “Minako.”
“Whatever!” she exasperated!
“And the fire rages on here in the Low Key District. The Gentlemen club called “Ce Ce’s Big V” is 70% contained by emergency crew. Thankfully no one was hurt. But it seems that everyone is well and accounted for. Police are still trying to get in contact with the business owner Tim Finnegan. No one seems to know his whereabouts.”
“Mal this crazy. We only meant to go in there and get Mina out, not create a disaster.” Darien sighed. “Did you kill him?”
“Endymion you refused to allow me that luxury. Hence why I decided to set the sink hole ablaze.” Malachite shrugged.
“This is serious! Malachite! Lives could’ve been lost down there! That was reckless! This goes for both of you! Mina what were you doing in that place!” Darien snapped.
“Hold it hot shot! What I do is none of you damn business! Got that? I-” Mina started before Malachite stepped in front of here shielding her from Darien’s harsh demeanor.
“Now whose losing their cool? Do not dare address my princess in such a manner! Compose yourself! She isn’t your foppish, simple minded meatball head. No offense Serena.” Malachite responded.
“None taken!” Serena waved from behind her husband.
“Your princess? Since when?” Darien argued.
“Lord Malachite lunch is prepared sir.” A man said as he walked into the room and bowed.
“Good work, Thurston! Please, let me introduce you to meet Lady Minako! She’ll be your new mistress here!” Malachite responded as he shot daggers at Darien.
“Good afternoon, milady!” Thurston, whom was a surprisingly young guy, who could’ve been no older the Mina herself bowed deeply in front of her.
“I am Thurston Wentworth, Lord Malachite’s butler & second in command.”
Mina just looked at Serena. Serena just shrugged.
“Hey…He didn’t introduce us! What are we chopped liver?” Serena snarked.
“Ok…um ….am I still dreaming or something? Cause this is just too weird.” she asked, as she rubbed her temples. She felt a little weak.
“Mina let’s go eat. I’m sure your hungry. And that burst of star power energy you sent off last night, could’ve started Chinese new year!” Serena said as she put a hand around Mina and they followed the butler to the dining room.
“Why do you need a butler Mal?” Darien argued as they walked to the dining room. “Does living low-key mean nothing to you?”
“Jealous?” Malachite sneered and he hurriedly pulled out a chair for Mina, and sat down next to her at the table.
“In just a sort amount of time you accumulated a lot of wealth Malachite.” Luna said as she sat in a cushioned sofa against the wall away from the table.
“I, being so fluent in the many languages on this planet, I used the money Endymion gave me when I awoke from the precious gem. I learned from what he taught me about this world, and about business. I traveled and I gained more knowledge. I created a business. That can topple the American Donald trump. Is that so wrong?” Malachite explained as he silently sipped tea Thurston poured.
“Do we have to talk about money now?” Mina complained. “Especially being as I don’t have any of it. Ever!”
“I apologize princess. It doesn’t seem fitting to speak of business at the dining table.” Malachite expressed, looking embarrassed.
“Well…it’s just that. It’s hard to talk about all this extravagance when one doesn’t have any of it. It’s kind of…uncomfortable.” Mina replied. “Hey! Can I have French toast? And scrambled eggs? What are you drinking Mal?”
“Oh!…Uh…strawberry tea.” Malachite blushed as Mina reached for his tea cup.
“Yum! I love that stuff too!” Mina smiled, as Thurston brought her all that she asked for. “Thanks Thruston! This food looks great!”
“Oh! Yes. Your welcome Milady! Please, ask for anything else!” He beamed as he poured Mina the same tea the Malachite was drinking and served everyone else.
“Pancakes for me!” Serena giggled.
“I thought this was lunch?” Artemis pondered as he snuggled next to Luna.
“We must talk in private later Minako.” Malachite spoke silently for Mina to hear him. “It’s about the Goddess. And I cannot speak of her in front of the these two. She’d be pissed.”
“That’s to put it lightly.” Mina smiled. “Oh man this stuff is good! I’m gonna get fat if keep eating this stuff!”
“Bull shite!” Malachite responded looking her body up and down with heated eyes, causing Mina to blush.
“Stop that!” She reprimanded, as she pulled the robe closer to her body.
“Ok! Mina!” Serena started after she ate half of her pancakes. “I know what’s been going on. Artemis filled us in when we came looking for you last night. Now I don’t know how Lord Macho over here got there. But he found you minutes before we burst in. And thank goodness we did. He was gonna slit that guys throat! Mina…was …that guy?…did he rape you?”
“I…don’t know where to start but….here it is.” Mina said putting her fork down, and explained everything to her closest friend.
“Oh mina! Why didn’t you say something? I mean we see each other at least twice a week! You’re the only one I see often anymore.” Serena said with tears falling down her face.
“Well! It’s not easy Serena. I was just trying get myself to together. Working and school. Like most people do.” Mina said picking at her eggs. “Making ends meet is tough. My parents aren’t joking! School is all I’ve got. I was going to leave! I gave the bastard my notice. I wasn’t going back to work after tonight. I worked my ass off to get enough money for rent and food for a couple of weeks before finding something decent.”
“But Mina….that guy we saw.” Serena said, not knowing how to finish her sentence.
“He was my boss. Tim Finnegan. The guy the news said is missing.” Mina said running her hands into her hair. “He…refused my resignation. I knew he was slime. But I never thought something like this would happen.”
“He…he…raped you!” Serena cried!
“I will find him!” Malachite said jumping from the table.
“No! Wait! He didn’t get too!” Mina said jumping from the table and stepping in front of him. “Please. Malachite my last thoughts were of you saving me before I passed out. He never got that far.”
“Are you sure? Do not protect such vermin!” Malachite said as he caressed her face. Mina winced as she felt the bruises left on her face from the blows she received from Tim. “He has marred your skin! He will die!”
“Mal!” Darien shouted as he stood. “Chill man! We’ll sort this out. But for now we just have to keep an eye out. If what Mina says is true, that guy isn’t going to take what you did to his place laying down. And the guy just ghosted the police.”
“Oh no!” Mina gasped. “He knows where I live. I put my address on my information and everything for work.”
“No matter!” Malachite pulled Mina into his arms and caressed her hair gently. “You will reside here, under my protection.”
Mina had no way of arguing with the man. In his arms she felt the same peace she felt when she was in the gardens of Eden with her grandmother.
“I can’t do this anymore. I think….this is it for me.”
