Chapter 33: Before I'm Dead
Faye and James sighed as they flipped through the channels. Aurora was asleep, next to her tiny brother in his room. Every once and a while, Faye would walk over to where Vicious lay in his room, his eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. She had tried to get him to eat, but to no avail. He was lost in his own mind, and neither she nor James knew how to rescue him. The sound of the door opening and closing, followed by the entrance of a seemingly satisfied Sith broke them from their television induced stupor.
Sith walked through the apartment, before taking a stand before Faye’s vision. “Where is Spike?”
Faye seemed confused. “He went looking for you. “
“I didn’t see him.”
Faye bit her bottom lip. “That’s strange. Anyways, he said if you got here before he did, he said that he left something important on your ‘sanctuary’.”
Sith abruptly turned and headed out onto the fire escape. There, on the ledge, sat a manila envelope, labeled R. Marissa (aka. Eve), mocked her with an attached note. Sith raised an eyebrow at the envelope that seemed brimming with information. “Now, if you were looking for me. Why would you leave this here?” she asked aloud.
She then read the note. Her eyes widened as her answer came to her, as though he had known the question. She read it over again.
Katy,
Went to go find Amaya. Told Faye and James otherwise so not to worry them. I never did have the capacity to sit still for long.
If you’re in for a hunt, and I know you are, the club’s called Ookami Ryu. Go to the back door labeled ASSIRAM. I’ll be waiting.
Spike

* Moon hangs around
A blade over my head
Reminds me what to do before I'm dead
Night consumes light
And all I dread
Reminds me what to do before I'm dead *
She shivered silently in the corner of her cell. Her heavy iron shackles jangling slightly against her pale and bare form. Her body appeared a mosaic of wounds: her wrists and ankles red with wear and blood. Meanwhile, her back a m a massacre of flesh, colored purple, yellow, and brown with bruises and dried cuts. There were burns on her arms and legs, while carvings covered her torso and chest.
* The sun reclines
Eats my mind
Reminds me what to leave behind
Light eats night
And all I never said
Reminds me what to do before I’m…*
Pain blossomed everywhere and she couldn’t even see how horrible it was with the blindfold on her eyes, cutting into the few scars and bruises on her face. She knew that her jaw was broken, as was her left arm and right ankle. Her arms had been dislocated and popped back into place, she could still feel a slight throb from those parts of her body.
* To see you
To touch you
To see you
To touch you*
The room stank with the scent of blood and other bodily fluids, some not belonging to her. She could feel the tight pull of the dried blood on her bare flesh when she moved, along with the feel of dirt. Her once long and veil-like hair was now only three inches long, after being brutally shorn from her head. Could they be seen, her eyes would appear frightened and filled with pain. There was no Kaishi here to take over her mind and help her deal.
* Epochs fly, reminds me
What I hide, reminds me
The desert skies
Cracks the spies
Reminds me what I never tried
The ocean wide salted red
Reminds me what to do before I’m… *
There would be no daring rescue from her compatriots and friends. No, she had already driven away before this had happened. At this moment, she wished that she had not pushed them away, prayed thaey fey forgave her, and fantasized about her blindfold being pulled away and, instead of her captor or her flunkies before her, being able to see their faces again. She felt hot tears prick her eyes as she thought of those she cared for so deeply and what she had done to them. She didn’t deserve their forgiveness, nor did she deserve rescue from this new hell. And this truly was hell.
* To see you
To touch you
To feel you
To tell you *
How long had she lay here? Hours? Minutes? Days? She didn’t know. How long had she been hanging there? She didn’t know. How long had it been since Julia took her? She didn’t really know, but it was at least a week. That much she did know. She did know one other thing… she was going to die, after more torture. This would not end until Julia’s hate became sated, then she would feel the dark bliss of death.
* The sun reclines - remind me
The desert skies - remind me
The ocean wide salted red
Reminds me what to do before I’m…*
She prayed they forgave her, for as much as it appealed in her pain fogged mind, she didn’t really want to die.
* To see you
To touch you
To feel you
To tell you *
Not before Julia, at least.
