As the world falls down
This is the final chapter for Monsters and Angels. Thank you.
~ As the world falls down~
Funny, she thought as she fell. That her world had ended with a single word. One syllable and everything was changed, over. Done.
Genova blinked up at the smoky sky, feeling anger and regret wash over her like a acid waves. She truly was a fool. She could hear the clamor of battle but it seemed so far and distant. A world away from her now.
Pain had ceased to move within her, an odd thing when she only had to lower her eyes to her chest to see the large sword impaled in her small body. But pain was a distant memory, at least that kind.
Tears trickled from her eyes as she struggled to focus on the golden gaze before her. “Y..you lied” she rasped, the effort to push the words out nearly her undoing.
Lu sat beside her in the bloody grass, elegant fingers stroking through the girl’s hair, “No” she said quietly, a small smile on her face, “I just didn’t tell you everything. That is the problem with people. They want to believe, they want to think that someone somewhere cares. So they don’t ask questions, they don’t see the facts.”
Genova tried to shake her head, but Lu kept on speaking, “Oh it’s not your fault, you see heaven as the same issues. I mean look at the battle going on. Monsters fighting angels, monster and angels fighting monsters, fighting people. Who decided it had to be that way?”
“I’ll tell you. It was the master. He determines everything, oh he swears that you have free will, that this is his finest gift to you. So great that he would not even share with us, his angels. No it was only for mortals? And why? What made you so special that you deserved greater love than we did?”
Genova tasted blood in the back of her mouth, felt the tightness in her throat.
“That is why I left” Lu said, “I wanted to prove to my beloved master that His affections had been misplaced. For countless ages I have watched you all. So easy to bend, so easy to break. You are selfish and cruel. You think only of yourselves. You are a prime example of why humans should never have been given free will.”
“W..why?”
“Simple really. You could have had everything that I offered you without dealing with me, but you were selfish and impatient. Everything had to be on your terms. Kieran’s love wasn’t enough as it was? You could be grateful for what you had already received? You had to possess and quantify. That is why the cycle of Armageddon goes on and on. Your people never learn, they never will.”

Seras stiffened as pain lashed through her thigh, looking down she noticed her opponent had managed to land a blow, his barbed tentacles biting deeply in the pale flesh. “That hurts you son of a bitch” she growled, reaching down to dig her claws into the appendage holding her, “Hurry and go back to hell where you belong!”
‘Police girl’
Seras reached out and ripped the head from the lower demon she had been grappling with. ‘Yes my master?’
‘You are wounded’
‘Not severely, what is the matter? I feel your wrath building.’
‘Run to the archbishop’s home. Kieran must be told. Hurry to the hill.’
‘Yes’
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alucard reached out with his powers, his dark tendrils feeling the pain of death in the air, drank in the rich blood coloring the soil. It was a perfect night for the apocalypse. But something was amiss.
Taking to the sky, he shot towards the hills on the outskirts of the town. Lucifer was there, working her dark magics, threatening everything and everyone that fought below.
He landed with slight jingling of his many buckled boots, “Lu, what are you doing?”
The blonde looked up at him, her golden eyes glowing red in the darkness. “Can’t you tell Alucard?” she asked sweetly, “I am winning.”
Garnet eyes ran over the rasping human girl. Kieran’s chosen. “What have you done?” he demanded.
Lu rose to her feet, stepping closer to him, no longer caring for the gore soaking her robes, she threaded clawed fingers in his dark hair. “What do you care?” she asked, “Her light is nearly out, it is only a matter of time before she reviles the master. And when that happens, Kieran’s heart too will change. His rage will become yours, will become Seras’, will become Integra’s. Like a chain reaction His army will become mine and we will march against him. Already in heaven, my loyalists are moving.”
Alucard felt her lips brush against his and his hand shot out, catching her delicate throat in his hands. “You were always so full of yourself Lu.” he growled, “You don’t put much faith in Gabriel or Michael.”
She laughed, a tinkling sound that made him tighten his grip until she gasped and whimpered. “Unhand me fiend!”
“I think not. You have always loved your toys Lu.”
“Grrr”
“You even sought to make me one of them. You had no idea what would happen if you passed angelic blood to damned souls did you?”
His grip loosened enough to allow her to speak. She drew in great sucking breaths and let her power flare.
Alucard shook her head, like a rag doll.
“No” she said then, “I didn’t. And I didn’t care. If you died you were already damned to hell for your cruelty in life. I would have thought you would thank me for saving you from that fate.”
Alucard leaned closer to her, his fangs ghosting over her throat above his hand. “I should tear your throat out you worthless bitch” he snapped, “I should tear you to such tiny bits that even the ants cannot find you. I was never your toy.”
She smiled then, “But am I not like a mother to you? Did I not remake you? Was I not a good lover to you? Even after you managed to steal your damnable soul back. I was content to leave you alone. I didn’t go after Integra.”
His power rippled along her skin, burning where it touched. “I know you tried. With your schemes and plans.”
She shrugged as much as she was able, “Well in every wager there is always some wild card. How was I to know she was yours. Who could honestly love a monster? Wholeheartedly and purely? So I was unable to hold onto your soul”
Her eyes cut to the side where Genova was making a terrible burbling sound. “I don’t play fair Alucard. No one ever does, but I learn from my mistakes. I should not have chosen you, I should have chosen the human heart first!”
She raised her hands to his chest, her powers flaring despite the pain he unleashed on her. Holy light flew from her and scorched his body.
He dropped her like a hot rock. His foot swinging out to kick her. Lu rolled with the blow, coming to rest beside Genova.
Taking the girls face in her clawed hands and laughed lightly, “Say it Genova. Curse God!”
Alucard moved to stop her, “Do not Genova!” he shouted over the rising wind, “To do so is to curse all that has been made. Do not!”
Lu snarled at him, her claws drawing blood on the pale cheeks she held, “If you but say it sweet girl, my promise is fulfilled. I didn’t do this to you, He did. If He is so great and so powerful, why am I able to torment you? It is because I serve Him, His will. Say it, and set us both free!”
Genova’s world was black now, only the voices remained and the sinking cold that seeped into her. If only it would end, if only…
Her lips parted, even as her heart broke….
Lu leaned forward to hear her words.
“Genova, if you love him, do not say it!” Alucard growled. He moved closer but Lucifer’s barrier kept him at bay, even now the holy barrier Genova’s team had set up was gone, evil spilling out, fleeing into the night.
This had to stop.
Lu set her cheek against Genova’s. “But you are human and he is a monster, what future could you have had? Curse God for breaking your heart, for tearing lovers apart, curse Him for the fighting and famin, disease and pain in the world. You are not loved. You are a plaything of the heaven’s nothing more. Say it!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kieran felt a sharp pain his chest and clutched the phantom wound. His head snapped up as a busty woman raced around the corner.
“You are Kieran, and you must hurry to the hill. My master says so.”
Kieran felt it then, the fluttering of Genova’s heart and the darkness looming to consume them all. “Damn it all to the seven hells!”
He raced away, becoming mist, sweeping over the charred buildings. “No God, please no” he chanted to himself. If God was awake, if God would only hear….

Raphael looked calmly at the carnage in the heavenly halls, his blade stained crimson. Loyal angels stood at his back, weary from the fight. Once more it seemed Lucifer had taken a third of heaven. Faces of those he had once held dear lay lifeless before him, but the throne of heaven was safe again. Michael had already departed for the earthly plain, leaving Gabriel to stand in sad confusion.
“She said she wanted to come home” he murmured as he toed the remains of one he’d once thought so loyal to the master. He had wanted to believe her. Wanted to know that they would be together again.
“She lied to you” Raphael pointed out, “That was never her intention.”
Gabriel lifted angry eyes to his friend, “Another of your secrets Raph?”
The keeper nodded, his eyes filled with sadness, “If you want this so called gift, I would gladly give it to you.” he said.
Gabriel jerked his sword from a fallen angel. “What else don’t I know?”
Raphael shook his head, “ I cannot tell you and you are better off not knowing, but you have to end this Gabe. Go to her, and be strong enough to finish this.”
“I have to believe that she wants to be angelic again, that we mean enough to her for her to change, that I do.”
Raphael merely turned and walked away, “Uriel, can you help me?” he called softly. And the angel of death appeared. Her white hair and lavender eyes making her glow several times brighter than her fellows.
She looked around her, “You know, you might have waited until I was done delivering souls. I could have helped you avoid this mess. The master hates messes.”
She stopped speaking long enough to really look at the keeper, then at Gabriel. Their sorrow tangible to her. “I am sorry Gabe” she whispered, “I wished you only the greatest happiness.”
He nodded stiffly and went after Michael.
Uriel lifted her small hand to cup Raphael’s cheek. Of all the angels in heaven, only he ever understood her, was kind to her. She was death and avoided.
He was the keeper and no one wanted to be around him, lest all their dark thoughts be known.
Her thumb caught the tears on his lashes, “Oh Raph, I’m sorry” she said, her voice breaking. The stoic keeper threw his arms around her, crushing her against him and sobbed into her hair.
His heart was breaking from the secrets he bore, from the feelings they invoked. His dearest friend, the most loving and forgiving heart in heaven was breaking. “Gabe will never be the same after this. This is the final betrayal.”
Uriel merely held him, whispering words of comfort to the heart she loved most.
“You are supposed to go and take that girl to heaven or hell” he suddenly said against her hair.
Uriel nodded, “Well I’m not really feelin it right now.”
Emerald eyes went wide, and she winked, “You aren’t the only one who knows a few secrets. Come on” she said, sweeping her hand and the dead were gone, the blood erased. Banished to the deepest level of hell.
“Where are we going?” Raph asked as she took his hand and led him away.
She smiled over her shoulder, “I found this great little spot in the human world. We are taking a vacation”
“Vacation?”
She stopped and pulled him closer, crushing her soft lips to his own. His eyes went wide as she pulled away, “I have a few secrets of my own for you Raph.”
The keeper found himself smiling at that, following after her for a few steps before he grabbed, tossed her over his wide shoulder and took off at her command.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“I…. I….curse…..” Genova’s voice gave out and Lu cursed loudly.
It was taking all her efforts to hold Alucard at bay, and she was losing ground. She knew it.
“Give it up Lu” he drawled, “Come out of there and face your death before I come in.”
She laughed, “Nearly there sweet child, say it. Alucard, when she does, you will be the first I slaughter and then your precious mate. Who, by the way is injured and headed this way. But you knew that.”
~~~~~~~~
Genova was only aware of the words, the woman with the poison voice, the monster her lover admired and another….a softer voice. One she didn’t know, but at the same time knew.
“It is your choice. Either way you are free.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kieran landed hard on the hillside, taking in the image before him. Alucard slowly pushing through a barrier that was cutting him with every movement. Genova, pale and bloodied pinned to the ground by a woman so beautiful he felt sick.
“Lucifer!”
She lifted her slanted eyes to him, “The black O’Mara. How nice to see you again, you are just in time.”
Kieran beat himself against the barrier but to no avail. “Genova? Genova!”
~~~~~~~~
Those cracked and pale lips parted once more. She had to say this, she had to…
“I curse….”
“Yes girl that’s it”
“I curse…..”
“One more word, just let it go.”
Genova forced her eyes open, locking them where the voice had come from.
“I curse ….. The fact… that God made you”
Lucifer shrieked in rage, lifting the half dead girl and slamming hard back to the earth. Her power flaring and snapping around her.
“You little bitch!” she roared, her fangs growing longer, “I will rip you wide open and bathe in your entrails!”
“No you won’t”.
That voice. That once soft and tender voice. She turned, Genova hanging limply from her claws, “G..Gabriel” she said with forced brightness.
“You lied to me” he ground out.
She shook her head, “No I didn’t” she defended, “I am just showing my loyalty for the master by exposing what these things really are!”. She shook Genova again and then tossed her aside like so much garbage.
“Drop your barrier” he commanded.
She shook her head, “Gabriel?”
He advanced a step, “Drop it Lu, last chance.”
She held firm, her eyes golden once more. She watched the messenger with uneasy eyes.
Gabriel snarled and swung his arm, the barrier falling to the earth like sparkling dust. She staggered to her feet.
“Gabriel” she coaxed, “Don’t be harsh or hasty.”
“Lied to me, used my trust.”
“I love you and you love me, we are supposed to be together you and I”
His eyes grew cold and distant, “No. That isn’t what you wanted. My rank in heaven and me as your shield for your many crimes that is what you wanted.”
She didn’t deny it, didn’t dare. “You said that you loved me”.
His face softened for only a moment, his hand lifting to cup her cheek and press a fanged kiss to her forehead. “I do Lu, I love you more than you will ever know. More than you will ever deserve.”
He struck hard, the heavenly blade sinking deep into her chest. Shattering bone as it dug through to the other side.
She gasped, as blood fell from her lips, her lovely eyes wide and she clung to him.
“I love you enough to free you.”
Then the most gentle of all the angels flicked his wrist and cleaved her black heart in two. Tears coursed down his beautiful face as she slid down the length of his great body to crumple in the grass.
“I loved you.” he whispered.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kieran gathered Genova in his arms, brushing hair and blood from her face. “Why Genova?” he asked in a broken tone, “Why did you not wait for me. I promised to you that I was yours.”
“To…die.. Here. She said”
He buried his face against her throat. “I wanted it to be your choice” he said in an anguished tone, “To change or not… and now this, your soul… I can’t… can’t get it back for you!”
“Could you be a little more of drama king maybe? I swear you are as loud as a weepy child.” Michael said as he appeared to them. His eyes went to Gabriel, noting that his friend was still staring at Lucifer as though the whole world had just died with her.
“You ok?”
Gabriel nodded woodenly. The brawler sighed and flung his arm out, flames erupted around Lucifer and devoured her lovely body in a mere seconds. Gabriel gagged, his eyes flooding anew.
“Why did you…”
“You can’t stand there mourning her like that. She knew what she was doing and maybe in the end this is how it was supposed to be. It isn’t your fault.”
He turned back to Kieran, “And you… you are a pain in the ass you know that? I don’t know why the hell I get voluntold for these little details but I am getting pretty sick of it. Alucard, you owe me one hell of a fight for this. And you better make it damn good!”
He took a small stone and tossed it to Kieran, who stared it confused.
“What is this?”
Michael sighed a long suffering sound and all for his benefit they knew, “Her soul idiot. Bite her and give it back, then she will be like you and master asshole here.” he pointed to Alucard.
“Alucard!” came a biting voice and they turned to see Integra stumble up the hill, bloodied and tired but in no immediate danger. The unlife king moved to gather her into his arms, pressing a kiss to her brow, “You took your sweet time” she groused.
He chuckled, “I will make it up to you later.” he promised quietly.
Kieran gathered Genova in his arms, “Excuse us” he said softly, tears on his lashes, “Alucard, Michael, thank you, and Gabe… it’s a hell of a mess, but I am sorry.” Then in a blink he was gone.
“Hang on Genova” he murmured, “A few moments more.”
She closed her eyes again, wondering if she had a few moments left.
She felt the warmth of him as soon as he was solid again. “Be with me?” he asked near her ear and she smiled, unable to form words.
She felt no pain when Kieran bit deeply, drawing a small amount of blood from her. Then he bit his tongue and crushed his lips to hers, forcing the dark brew of life down her throat. His large hand moved over the pale flesh to ease her attempts at swallowing.
“There will be pain” he whispered a moment before the contortions of her form began.
When all was done and over and her deep red eyes stared up at him, he offered a warm smile and returned her soul to her. Then he wrapped her in his arms and headed to the shower to clean her up and show her how a creature like himself cared for a mate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Gah, I thought being undead I wouldn’t have sore muscles and aches and pains” Integra griped. She was face down on the large bed they shared, naked as the day she was born. Alucard had been seeing to her injuries. Though they were not large, she did enjoy the attention he lavished on her.
“So, what Michael said…” she began.
Alucard slid one large hand over her bottom, “Yes Lucifer made me what I was. And you precious monster that you are returned my soul to me.”
‘That makes you more angel than monster then doesn’t it?”
He smirked, bending low to place a nipping kiss at the bottom her left butt cheek. “What fun do angels have anyway?” he asked, “I would much rather be Integra’s monster.”
She rolled over and stroked his long dark hair as he bit her inner thigh, making her moan, “Still…. Heaven seems very earthly to me” she mused. He purred against her, working his way higher, breath ghosting over the wet flesh of her core.
“They are. There are few differences between them and humans. They love, fear, feel jealousy, devotion. They just feel it forever.”
His long tongue swirled around her pearl and she cried out, grabbing his hair and pulling him away.
“But the end of the world?” she asked.
He shrugged, “Not the world itself, just the world as we know it. People will go on living, but now hopefully the evil in their hearts is purged. If not then the cycle will be begin once more. With Lucifer out of the picture I think they would have a better chance.”
She sighed. So much of what she had been taught was true and so much was false. It was hard to look at what the average person knew and decide on a path. Of course her mate was making it hard to think of anything at the moment.
“Kieran and Genova?” she asked breathlessly, and Alucard growled against her.
“Probably sinning up a storm at the moment which is what I would like to do if my pretty mate would shut the hell up for a while” he snapped but his voice held no venom and when his shadows moved to bind and gag her, she merely chuckled triumphantly.
‘I do love you my precious monster’ she thought.
‘I intend to make sure you stay that way’ he replied before attacking her with lips and tongues.
Life would go on for them. On and on, together.
The world had really ended and true to his word, Alucard had kept her safe, remained with her. She couldn't help but feel blessed for it all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a world, who decides who are monsters and who are angels? Alucard had been called a monster since the beginning but he saved a lonely child, reared her with love and captured her heart, and guarded it well in his killer’s hands. Was he a monster? No, surely not.
A/N: I was glad and sad to see this story end. It has been my pleasure writing it for you and I hope that you have enjoyed it.
“Where are we going?” Raph asked as she took his hand and led him away.
She smiled over her shoulder, “I found this great little spot in the human world. We are taking a vacation”
“Vacation?”
She stopped and pulled him closer, crushing her soft lips to his own. His eyes went wide as she pulled away, “I have a few secrets of my own for you Raph.”
The keeper found himself smiling at that, following after her for a few steps before he grabbed, tossed her over his wide shoulder and took off at her command.
“I…. I….curse…..” Genova’s voice gave out and Lu cursed loudly.
It was taking all her efforts to hold Alucard at bay, and she was losing ground. She knew it.
“Give it up Lu” he drawled, “Come out of there and face your death before I come in.”
She laughed, “Nearly there sweet child, say it. Alucard, when she does, you will be the first I slaughter and then your precious mate. Who, by the way is injured and headed this way. But you knew that.”
~~~~~~~~
Genova was only aware of the words, the woman with the poison voice, the monster her lover admired and another….a softer voice. One she didn’t know, but at the same time knew.
“It is your choice. Either way you are free.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kieran landed hard on the hillside, taking in the image before him. Alucard slowly pushing through a barrier that was cutting him with every movement. Genova, pale and bloodied pinned to the ground by a woman so beautiful he felt sick.
“Lucifer!”
She lifted her slanted eyes to him, “The black O’Mara. How nice to see you again, you are just in time.”
Kieran beat himself against the barrier but to no avail. “Genova? Genova!”
~~~~~~~~

Kieran gathered Genova in his arms, brushing hair and blood from her face. “Why Genova?” he asked in a broken tone, “Why did you not wait for me. I promised to you that I was yours.”
“To…die.. Here. She said”
He buried his face against her throat. “I wanted it to be your choice” he said in an anguished tone, “To change or not… and now this, your soul… I can’t… can’t get it back for you!”
“Could you be a little more of drama king maybe? I swear you are as loud as a weepy child.” Michael said as he appeared to them. His eyes went to Gabriel, noting that his friend was still staring at Lucifer as though the whole world had just died with her.
“You ok?”
Gabriel nodded woodenly. The brawler sighed and flung his arm out, flames erupted around Lucifer and devoured her lovely body in a mere seconds. Gabriel gagged, his eyes flooding anew.
“Why did you…”
“You can’t stand there mourning her like that. She knew what she was doing and maybe in the end this is how it was supposed to be. It isn’t your fault.”
He turned back to Kieran, “And you… you are a pain in the ass you know that? I don’t know why the hell I get voluntold for these little details but I am getting pretty sick of it. Alucard, you owe me one hell of a fight for this. And you better make it damn good!”
He took a small stone and tossed it to Kieran, who stared it confused.
“What is this?”
Michael sighed a long suffering sound and all for his benefit they knew, “Her soul idiot. Bite her and give it back, then she will be like you and master asshole here.” he pointed to Alucard.
“Alucard!” came a biting voice and they turned to see Integra stumble up the hill, bloodied and tired but in no immediate danger. The unlife king moved to gather her into his arms, pressing a kiss to her brow, “You took your sweet time” she groused.
He chuckled, “I will make it up to you later.” he promised quietly.
Kieran gathered Genova in his arms, “Excuse us” he said softly, tears on his lashes, “Alucard, Michael, thank you, and Gabe… it’s a hell of a mess, but I am sorry.” Then in a blink he was gone.
“Hang on Genova” he murmured, “A few moments more.”
She closed her eyes again, wondering if she had a few moments left.
She felt the warmth of him as soon as he was solid again. “Be with me?” he asked near her ear and she smiled, unable to form words.
She felt no pain when Kieran bit deeply, drawing a small amount of blood from her. Then he bit his tongue and crushed his lips to hers, forcing the dark brew of life down her throat. His large hand moved over the pale flesh to ease her attempts at swallowing.
“There will be pain” he whispered a moment before the contortions of her form began.
When all was done and over and her deep red eyes stared up at him, he offered a warm smile and returned her soul to her. Then he wrapped her in his arms and headed to the shower to clean her up and show her how a creature like himself cared for a mate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Gah, I thought being undead I wouldn’t have sore muscles and aches and pains” Integra griped. She was face down on the large bed they shared, naked as the day she was born. Alucard had been seeing to her injuries. Though they were not large, she did enjoy the attention he lavished on her.
“So, what Michael said…” she began.
Alucard slid one large hand over her bottom, “Yes Lucifer made me what I was. And you precious monster that you are returned my soul to me.”
‘That makes you more angel than monster then doesn’t it?”
He smirked, bending low to place a nipping kiss at the bottom her left butt cheek. “What fun do angels have anyway?” he asked, “I would much rather be Integra’s monster.”
She rolled over and stroked his long dark hair as he bit her inner thigh, making her moan, “Still…. Heaven seems very earthly to me” she mused. He purred against her, working his way higher, breath ghosting over the wet flesh of her core.
“They are. There are few differences between them and humans. They love, fear, feel jealousy, devotion. They just feel it forever.”
His long tongue swirled around her pearl and she cried out, grabbing his hair and pulling him away.
“But the end of the world?” she asked.
He shrugged, “Not the world itself, just the world as we know it. People will go on living, but now hopefully the evil in their hearts is purged. If not then the cycle will be begin once more. With Lucifer out of the picture I think they would have a better chance.”
She sighed. So much of what she had been taught was true and so much was false. It was hard to look at what the average person knew and decide on a path. Of course her mate was making it hard to think of anything at the moment.
“Kieran and Genova?” she asked breathlessly, and Alucard growled against her.
“Probably sinning up a storm at the moment which is what I would like to do if my pretty mate would shut the hell up for a while” he snapped but his voice held no venom and when his shadows moved to bind and gag her, she merely chuckled triumphantly.
‘I do love you my precious monster’ she thought.
‘I intend to make sure you stay that way’ he replied before attacking her with lips and tongues.
Life would go on for them. On and on, together.
The world had really ended and true to his word, Alucard had kept her safe, remained with her. She couldn't help but feel blessed for it all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a world, who decides who are monsters and who are angels? Alucard had been called a monster since the beginning but he saved a lonely child, reared her with love and captured her heart, and guarded it well in his killer’s hands. Was he a monster? No, surely not.
A/N: I was glad and sad to see this story end. It has been my pleasure writing it for you and I hope that you have enjoyed it.
