Chapter Delta

Note: Sorry that this one isn't all that big, but I promise to bring Hyoga in with the next chapter. And the new character I just introduced is important to the story.

It was odd how it drizzled like that. The way that the shadows spilled from the rain that ran in torrents down the windows. He seemed to be mesmerized by it, seated on the couch, his legs carefully placed on the cushions so that if he decided to roll onto his back then it wouldn't hurt. It had been several days since his attack, the hospital had him stay there for three days because he actually needed a blood transfusion when he got there. Shun was also asked a bunch of questions but they all decided on the story of a vicious animal attack and that it was too dark to see what kind of animal it was. The officials bought it though, but because of that they didn't put any stiches in until the last day he was there. They said that they wanted to make sure that the wounds would not infect considering that almost eighty percent of all animal caused wounds do. When there was no sing of infection after his third day stay, the doctors had placed over three hundred stiches. Almost all of them in his calf muscles, a few in his thighs. He had recieved some pain killers and medication to make sure that infection wouldn't arise. The unfortunate side effect of his medication was the fatigue, even if he was under attack he would most likely sleep through it with the kind of effect he was getting. When ever he was awake though, his mind felt a bit fuzzy, almost as if he had drank a bit of alchohol just enough to relax the muscles.

Green eyes wandered from the window to the wheelchair that was next to the couch. He hated that thing. Truth be told, he never thought that he could be so prideful, but soon as he was seated in that... contraption he felt helpless. It was almost as if everyone was branding him a criple, a handicaped person that couldn't function properly in normal society. When ever he needs to go somewhere he's now always placed in that chair. Everyone looks at him with those eyes that say 'you poor thing'. He didn't need pitty what he needed was help, because even in the hospital stuff would happen. Granted it wasn't nearly as bad as when he was home but still things would shift around. Andromeda would have stuff suddenly flung at him, then there where the whispers that kept him up all night long. Most of the things would stop when someone was with him, but the whispers they stayed there, even if Ikki was right there holding his hand. And they were still there, telling him things even now, dark things. They tell him stuff that he already knows, their devilish tongues echoing in his head, twisting any wordt het he speaks. Not wanting to hear the lies that they make off of his words, Shun had stopped talking. Of course this frightened Ikki and Seiya but after a day or so they noticed that he was still smiling and would try to interact with them as much as possible. The green haired youth found it a blessing that they where there. They caught on quickly and tried to understand to their fullest.

Shun found one of the throw pillows that had some how landed on the floor. He tucked it under his head and allowed his eyes to slide shut. He smiled a bit at the soft snoring sounds coming from the maid that was asked to watch over him while Ikki and Seiya ran an errand. She was so kind to him, even though he was in this state she never treated him like an invelid, in fact when Shiryu was first blinded and had come to visit she treated him like he was compeltely normal. He admired that aspect of her, she was his favorite for that. This resulted in him actually giving her presents every once in a while making sure that she didn't know who was giving them with only her name, Toa, written on the tag. It wasn't like he was in love with her, no, his heart was reserved for someone else. But the realization of that he owed it all to her. They frequently engadged in conversations that dealt with love and romance. It was just a summer morning when she made it clear to him who he actually, truly loved.

He could still remember the smell of the lilac perfum that he had given her. Her soft arms encompasing him as delicate fingers brushed through his hair soothing all his worries away. Her waist length red hair tickled his arms as he hugged her back, a bit afraid of becoming aware of his own homosexuality, but also relieved that he had discovered that part of him. She was a sister him, and older sister that Ikki had a crush on. He didn't say anything about that to her because that was his brother's territory, but he really did want to see them paired together. Toa didn't look all that feminin, in fact she was quite androginous. Her hips where not as wide as normal women, her voice was low yet so soft. Her bussom wasn't heafty like Athena's, she was a moderate B cup. If she wore her usual kakies with a boy's shirt and strapped down her chest people would think of her to be just your usual pretty boy. For a rather normal woman her cosmos, yet it was still undiscovered, was strong giving her a personality to admire. She respected others as long as they were decent people. There where so many things about her that he actually admired, the way her eyes were narrow, dangerous looking, yet still so kind and gentle. The way she walked showing she wouldn't put up with people walking over her and her friends. He really did wish that Ikki would get over Esmerelda and find a happy life with Toa.

As he drifted off to sleep he heard the sounds of sleep silence, and a warm blanket was then placed over him. He gave a sound of content as her fingers stroked his hair and soon he was fast a sleep. The red head smiled at the slumbering young man, and turned on the CD player to play some music that she knew he liked. Glancing at the clock she nearly giggled with joy to find out that she was off duty. That meant that she didn't have to wear her dress anymore! YES! She hated dresses with a passion, but it was part of her job to wear the freaking black and white frilly artical of clothing. Some times she woundered about her employer's sense of fashion, then again she wasn't one to talk she was a tomboy. The only thing remotely girly that she liked was platform shoes with heels that were only a few inches high, and fingernail polish. Come to think of it her elder brother liked fingernail polish as well the nice deep red kind.

Slipping out of the room, she wedged the door open. All she needed was to change her clothes that were stored in the next room. Quickly stealing across the hallway she left the door to the room she had just entered open. As she quickly unzipped the back to her black and white dress she kept on glancing between the rooms to make sure nothing was going to happen.

Unfortunately she couldn't see the full room. That familiar dark chill ran down Shun's spine as he attempted to sleep. Nuzzling further into his blankets, his face distroted in discomfort unaware of the shadow creeping across the walls and floor. Long legs slowly tapped down on the floor, pulling a black body out of the high corner of the darkened room. The torax tightened supporting the abdomen that bounced once freed from the confindments of the walls. The over sized back end curled with eight legs adjusting themselves. Red eyes narrowed on the human like face, large pinchers seperating to let a barbed tongue to lulle out over Andromeda's head. Stringy saliva dripped down, Shun moving curling up further just in time to have a few locks of his hair burned by the acidic substance along with some of the cushions he slumbered upon. A thin, rather frail, looking hand reached as it crouched down. The fingers took a hold of the white film that decorated the tip of the abdomen, streaching it out into fine cobwebs.

"SHUN!!"

The voice calling out snapped the boy into the waking world. His green eyes jolted open, taking in the large spider-like beast above him. He quickly sat up in order to make a getaway only to have thick cobwebs wrapped around his mouth like a wet rag. The strength of those spindly arms was emmence as only one hand managed to keep a firm grip of the bonds around his head while the other got more to wrap his body up in. Shun kicked his legs trying to make noise, but the pain in his legs was juoo goo great. White webs wrapped around his arms and chest like ropes. His muffled screams for help turned to sobs when he felt the horrible burning feeling left from the barbed tongue running a trail of saliva across his back, buring through his shirt. His vision blurred from the horrible pain as the acid slowly ate away at his skin.

"What the hell is that?!" the familiar voice of Toa yelled.

His head snapped up to see her in the doorway. Her shirt a normal white T-shirt, es pes pants with straps tied around the ankles. Her feet where bear and the blet she was to put on was in her hand, obviously she heard something and came running. Shun tried to shout out for her to run to a safe place but all that came out where muffled wails. The spider gave a high pitched hiss as it reared up, giving warning it was about to attack. The blue eyed woman seemed a bit too calm when she looked at the belt in her hands then back to the monster that was about to release its furry. Shun gave a scream and closed his eyes tightly when the thing dove at her. To his surprise he heard the unholy wail and not Toa's screams of being torn apart.

Needing to look, he opened his eyes to see that the girl had used her belt to whip the creature's face. As it stumbled around she darted to his side, with little effort she ripped the webs wrapped around his face off before slinging him over her shoulder like a large sack of produce. She ran out into the hallway, looking back and forth before racing to the front door. Shun had managed to wriggle one of his arms free and slammed the door shut once they where out of the room. The heavy thu the the creature slaming against it and the shaking of the wall and door seemed some what satisfactory to him. But that was short lived when the door was just wrenched free of its hinges. The spector crushed its way into the hallway, skittering after them.

"It's right behind us!" he shouted as his body bounced, still a bit surprised that she could carry him.

"What?!" she whirled around not pausing in a step. The spider was close enough that its abnormally long tongue could spring forth. Toa held up an arm over the part of Shun that it was trying to sting, to catch the barb in her tender pale flesh. She hissed a bit but continued on her mad dash. Once reaching the front door she swung it open, Shun closing it, darted out into the ran filled world.

To tell you the truth the two of them didn't look back after that, but once they were a few blocks away and nearing the city the maid finally stopped. The thing was no longer in persuit. She gave a heavy sigh as she placed Shun down and sat next to him, the puddle she was in didn't seem to exsist as the red head tried to catch her breath.

"Toa," Shun ridded himself of the rest of the cobwebs that was wrapped around his torso. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," she breathed heavily, her chest starting to hurt her. She smiled and gripped her fist in front of him in a boyish manner, "See, told you I was strong."

Green eyes widdened at the sight of her arm, the part where she was stung was turning purple. He quickly unwrapped some of the bandages around his legs and tied it around her arm, tight enough to cut off the blood. But after that he wasn't too sure what to do, he never really had been taught how to deal with poisonings besides something like food poisoning.

"Shun? SHUN!"

The voice of Ikki was a releaf to the green haired youth as Toa started to shake her head, trying not to pass out from the poison. From all the adrenilen that rushed through her body a lot of the toxins had already rushed to her blood. Her skin was visably paler than normal, it was hard for her to keep her eyes open even though it has only been a few minutes.

"Ikki!" Shun paniced. The sound of his words seemed to stop his brother in place. Yes he knew that he had not spoke in a few days, and if those whispers tried to twist these words he would be damned if he actually took them to heart. "Toa, Toa's in trouble!!"

To be continued...

Guess who Toa's big brother is? Clue, in a lot of Japanese fanart he's got red hair and red finger nail polish. I hope you guys don't mind Toa to much, I made her in an attempt to give Ikki someone that would be more his type than Esmeralda. (I do like Esmeralda but he really needs to get over her.)

Oh and have fun guessing who's voice it was calling out to Shun to make him wake up. *cackle, sighs* I bet you all know who it is actually.
