Disclaimer:
I do not own Trigun, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story.
Uh, chapter 4
Disclaimer: (sigh) I don\'t own it. Wish I did though. That would be cool.
Wow look, I decided to update again!! I\'m sorry if I\'ve left a bunch of you hanging, but I\'ve just had the worst time trying to figure out how to continue this! After giving it much thought, and watching the series again I think I\'ve got it. *bonus*: (there will be a surprise character introduced in this chapter) So without further ado....
Studies of the Heart: Chapter 4
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
\"Knives, were home!!\"
Vash and Wolfwood, after eating a good lunch and finishing their remaning classes, had both returned home exhausted. Wolfwood led Vash to the bathroom and grabbed the first aid kit.
\"Ok Vash. Now we can treat those properly. Damn that bastard Legato, he\'s gonna pay for this!\"
Vash rolled his eyes, having already heard the same thing a thousand times now.
\"Wolfwood you promised remember? No ass-kicking.\"
\"Yeah yeah I know, no ass-kicking. Don\'t worry Vash, I won\'t touch him.\"
Vash breathed a sigh of relief and rested his head on Wolfwood\'s shoulder.
\"Good.\"
The sound of the front door being opened, and someone stepping into the kitchen drew their attention. Upon entering the kitchen they saw Knives drinking straight from a milk carton.
\"Knives!! What have I told you about doing that?!\"
Scared spitless, Knives sprayed his mouthful of milk all over the front of the fridge. He turned around and glared at the two.
\"Vash dammit, how many times do I have to tell you-Oof!\"
Knives was cut short as Vash tackled him in a flying glomp as he always did when he came home. The two twins fell to the floor laughing and wrestling. It was something they always did as kids, and still did today. Wolfwood thought it was a bit juvenile, but fun to watch. With all the siblings who hated each other in the world, he was glad to bear witness to such a scene of brotherly love. He himself had never had any real brothers and sisters aside from those at the orphange he volunteered at. They had looked up to him like a big brother, and he had cared for each and every one of them. He was overjoyed when they were all adopted to loving families and given a chance for normal lives. He would never forget any of them. A sudden painful cry from across the room interrupted his musing.
\"Vash?!\"
Vash was holding his stomache in pain, and red was beginning to seep through his shirt. Knives, thinking he\'d hurt his brother, tore the shirt open and was confused when he saw bandages there.
\" Vash, what is this? Where did you get this from?\"
Vash got serious again and looked at a spot on the carpet.
\"At school. Earlier today. I just fell down, that\'s all.\"
Knives placed his hands on either side of Vash\'s face and looked him in the eyes.
\"Vash I\'m your brother. Don\'t lie to me. Tell me what really happened.\"
Vash sighed and retold the story. By the time he was finished Knives looked ready to commit murder. The older twin paced the room back and forth angrily. It was something he always did when deep in thought. Vash looked at him nervously.
\"Y-you\'re not gonna do anything to him are ya Knives? I don\'t want you to get kicked out either. What would Rem think if her son got kicked out because of-\"
\"WHAT WOULD REM THINK IF HER SON WOUND UP RAPED AND DEAD IN AN ALLEY?!!!\"
Knives exploded. He looked over at Vash who stared back wide-eyed with unshed tears forming in his eyes. He walked over and put his hands on his brother\'s shoulders.
\"Vash, please don\'t cry. I just don\'t want anything to happen to my little brother. You know I won\'t do anything stupid, and Rem doesn\'t have to know about this. It would only make her worry, and she worries enough as it is. I am glad though that you were able to repel him. You\'re strong Vash, and you have to make sure not to be caught off gaurd like that again. Watch your back, and make sure not to trust people too easily. You\'re famous for that. If this Legato guy goes after you again run away from him and call the police. It\'ll all be ok alright. I won\'t let anything bad happen to you.\"
He wrapped his arms around Vash and hugged him close. He knew deep down that Vash wasn\'t out of danger yet, but he resolved to deal with Legato personally if he ever met him. Maybe he\'d threaten him with death or something. Either way Legato was going to pay for what he did. Wolfwood, becoming tired of tender moments, decided to dogpile the two brothers, and thus started another round of wrestling.
On the other side of town a shadowy figure sat in the back of Rex\'s Bar and Grill, rubbing the lump on the back of his head.
\"Damn that little blonde bastard! Where did he find an opening? I thought I had him.\"
He continued to grumble and moan, when a loud horn blast from behind him caused him to knock over his drink.
\"Shit!! Midvalley put that saxaphone away before I shove it up your ass!!\"
Said musician chuckled to himself, and sat down by his friend.
\"So how goes it in the world of stalking Gato?\"
Legato moodily stirred the puddle of booze that had formed on the tabletop.
\"What\'s it to you hornfreak, and I said don\'t call me Gato! That little shrimp got away, but no matter, I\'ll get him again.\"
Midvalley thought a moment.
\"Yeah, but I bet he\'s told that boyfriend of his, and doesn\'t he have a brother too. I\'m sure he knows as well. It won\'t be easy to catch that kid again Legato. But,\" He traced Legato\'s cheek with his fingertips. \"I\'ll help you if you make it worth my while. Then we\'ll both share blondie once he\'s ours. Deal?\"
He stuck out his hand.
\"Deal. But I think we should inlist more help in taking out the other two, they might give us trouble. Go and find anyone willing to help us. I put my trust in your judgement Midvalley. DON\'T fail me.\"
\"Yes sir. As you wish.\"
Midvalley made a big show of bowing dramatically, then he left. Legato ordered another drink and leaned back against the wall. Finally he had means to take what he believed was his, and Legato had always gotten what he wanted.
\"Vash, soon I will have you. You belong to me and only me. You are mine.\"
To be continued.......
OH YEAH!!! another chapter down. Did you like Knives\'s character? I hope I didn\'t overdo it on the angst. Plus I surprised you with Middie\'s entrance didn\'t I? I\'m so thankful to all of you who reviewed. Your reviews are what keep this story going, and what make me want to write more. I enjoy writing for you and will continue to do so for as long as you like my work. Well don\'t forget to do just that, and I\'ll see you next chapter.
