It was good to be in Japan again. He could now have all of the best food and tea with out ordering it especially for him. His family was delighted he was back and American celebrities came to Japan when they wanted a perfect photo shot. Takaba was a celebrated photographer now, his work gracing countless fashion magazines and movie posters. He had all the money he could ever want and was still working with a camera. Takaba had everything he ever wanted, so why did it hurt every time he pasted Sion and watched Asami’s wife on the screen? He tried to ignore the pain and feelings, reverting back to his old habits. It all came back and punched him a rainy Sunday day 5 months after his return. H came on set and found Harumi ready for her photo shot with the famous photographer. Takaba threw up twice and almost had a panic attack.

She never suspected Asami wasn’t straight, even though he wasn’t always after her for sex or in a hurry for a child. Harumi figured his work killed a lot of that drive as it had her father and was content to have a faithful husband who dealt with the underworld. She focused on her career, staying at one of their apartments in Tokyo, meeting Asami for lunches and dinners. It fit into their world for them to live apart for a while. So Asami spent nights alone and waited for some word for Takaba. He waited until he was ready to kill the man before he began to search for the photographer.

“When are you going to get married and give me grandchildren?”
“I haven’t met anyone who I wanted to date. Besides you know I am working!”
“Takaba, Kou has already married and so has every other friend of yours. I am ready for you to settle down as well.”
“Mom, I’m gay.”
The dial tone came on after he said that and he hung up his phone, scowling as he crossed the street to his car. It would figure his parents were really that clueless, ignoring the fact he hadn’t had a girlfriend in years and was involved with Asami. They probably thought the man was a friend of Takaba’s. It was frustrating and amazingly stupid.
Flipping his phone back up he glanced down at his list and found the entry marked Asami. Hitting dial he waited for the other end to pick up.
“Asami.”
“I…this is Takaba.”
“I know.”
“Then you saw the photos I did of your wife?”
“Yes.” The voice sounded a bit preoccupied then the noise of a printer in the background before Asami continued. “Is everything all right?”
“I just came out to my parents and wanted to hear a voice that was familiar and not asking me when I was going to marry.”
“I see. Feilong is married as well.”
“He is? But I thought he was gay.”
“Has to produce an heir. Doesn’t mean he can’t have a male lover.”
“Lover? Do you…”
“I told you I have had no one else after you. All I have is my wife.”
“Then…we should become lovers. It would make sense… Clear up things between us.” Pausing Takaba cleared his throat and took a deep breath. “I got your letter and turned down the offer in LA. I am sure you know already but I wanted to say it to you. I want to be your lover.”
“Are you free tomorrow for dinner? I’ll take care of everything.”
“Yea after 6 I am. I suppose you know where I live?’
“Yes I do. Pick you up at 6:30?”
“Sounds good.”
